Chapter 9 - Intresting
Two days had passed by for Lor. She had simply went to school and come home over that time. With summer vacation only a few days from reality, it hit her that this summer would be the worst. She had lost two of her best friends, and a boyfriend all in one full swoop of fate.
She also had seen Tino from afar on a couple of occasions over the two days. She was angry with the boy, but the way he looked also tugged at her heart.
He was walking around, head down and his usually jovial face having a very balk and distant expression on it. He walked with no one and seemed to talk to no one either, as he was like a unseen shadow in the throng of the school. This actually bothered Lor.
Lor had also not seen Tish in all of that time either. It seemed as if she was either doing a good job of avoiding her or simply was not in school. Either way Tish was playing this thing, she had mixed emotions on that front too. Feeling betrayed, the loneliness loomed large in her mind.
Carver was always too busy with Lea right now, as she always came to the school at breaks and lunch to be with the lad and always was there to walk him either to her house, or over to his. The dark skinned lad’s whole world now was with the relationship with this pretty dusty skinned girl, even though she did not go to their school just yet.
Deep within her heart, she was glad that Carver had found Lea, but that never helped her situation with that. The fact of the matter was, she was alone for the first time in a very long time. Trudging through her school day, she found herself really seeing just how alone she really was, and she had no idea just where to turn.
Today had been the second last day of school, something that should have made her really excited with the prospect of two months without school that was coming up. Walking home alone like she was at the end of the day, it was completely different than that. She had no joy in the coming vacation.
Walking down the street, she found her mind on overload, as thousands of things battled out on her brain for supremacy. None of them had succeeded as of yet though. She rubbed her temples as her brain even hurt with it all. She desperately wanted to have a small rest from it all, and tried to think of how she could get but a few minutes away from herself.
Deciding on a different rout home, She crossed a local park on her way home, hoping the prettiness of the trees and nature would lift her a little. It did start to help as she walked along, yet it seemed that it would be nothing but a hollow respite from everything that was going on around her.
Soon, she was just cutting through an open area, where a playground was built for the younger kids in her neighborhood. She saw how calm and idyllic it was, and continued to use her unusual shortcut.
Off in the distance, Lor saw it was relatively quiet, yet she spotted one lone figure sitting on a large merry-go-round that was over near one huge technicolor jungle gym. She kept staring at the person sitting there as she neared, and immediately knew exactly who it was.
It was Tish who sat all by herself, looking vacantly down at the sand that was under the apparatus for safety. She was not looking around, as her eyes were literally bolted on to the soft sand below her seat.
Lor stopped right where she stood, as her anger and her sadness battled inside of her for dominance, but neither one seemed to be winning. She thought of just turning around and going back to her normal path home, but she found herself walking towards the girl instead with her hands clenched tightly beside her legs. Perhaps the anger part of her finally won out, as she walked stiffly nearer to the other girl.
Lor stormed up to the girl, as Tish suddenly turned. She seemed to be almost alarmed as she realized who it was that was nearing her, her fear quickly flashing from behind her bespeckled face..
Lor suddenly stopped and stared at her friend, now she seemed confused with everything. Tish seemed to be exactly that too.
“ Why?” Was the first words out of Lor’s mouth.
“ I know, that you know about Tino and I...” Said the brainy girl, with a blank look in her face.
“ You know?” She asked, her hands clenching less with the words spoken by the young genius.
“ He told me you found out, now he does not even talk to me.” Tish said. “ I should have never done it... I knew you two were already going out when I went over to his house the first time.”
Lor was stunned, but intrigue with her friend’s admission. She looked at the brainy girl for a second.
“ You knew about Tino an’ I going out?” She asked.
“ I did.” Tish replied. “ Saw you one day kissing like wild.”
“ Then why did you let him have sex with you, knowing that we were going out?” Was the question that burned in her.
Tish took a deep breath, and her eyes locked on to Lor’s. She did not seem to be wanting to run away or nothing, as if she was making herself sit there.
“ It was not him that made the first move... it was me.” She said, then explaining everything from not wearing underwear to going over there for the purpose of having sex with him.”
Lor was stunned at the girl’s explanation. She had been thinking that Tino had simply cheated on her. Now, she saw that he was not fully at fault after all.
She pondered the words spoken by her fried for a moment or two, her mind now formulating different questions than her hatred had made for her
“ You simply wanted to have sex with him?’ She said, long minutes after Tish had finished.
“ That is not quite what I meant...” Said a hesitant Tish. She blinked hard, as her face showed that she needed to say something right then. “ You see... I have fallen in love with him, and in my wild feelings, I just thought having him have sex with me would be better than having nothing at all.”
“ You had sex with him instead of having him for yourself?” Lor asked.
“ Yeah, that is what it was...” Said a very humbled Tish. “ Guess it was a stupid, silly thing to think of.”
Lor could see the truth of the girl’s words shine through her eyes. She was not quite knowing what to do next. She was still mad, but it was being tempered by understanding of the girl’s plight. She also could see very clearly that she had love blazing inside of her for Tino, just like hers love did too.
“ You do love him, don’t you?” Lor said, recognizing the other’s girls feeling so clearly.
“ Yes.... I do!” She said, her face turning serious. “ And for the sake of our friendship, I will back off totally, and never do something like that ever again.” She smiled softly, as she felt the tinge of her regret over all of it. “ I know how much you love Tino, I can see that just looking at you... Go to him, and hopefully we can become friends again... at least I hope we can become friends once more.”
Lor sat down beside the girl, making the merry-go-round list slightly under herself. Her mind seemed to be going a mile a minute, much to the curiousness of Tish. The brainy gal was really stunned by this odd reaction coming from the girl, still seriously expecting Lor to simply pummel her with in an inch of her life.
“ I’ve gotta thinking on something here...” She said, her eyes twinkling.
Lor sat there for what seemed to be an hour, her face a mask of deep thinking. She made no movement to leave or anything like that, staying right beside Tish as she thought. She simply stayed still, staring off into space.
Tish had no idea what the girl was thinking on, but she did not make a move to leave either. Her natural curiosity was winning over her fears, as she found herself extremely stumped with just what her friend, who usually was not a thinker, was actually thinking of. She sat quiet, waiting under the warm sun of Bahia bay
Lor suddenly sat up very straight, her eyes shot open widely and let out a excited gasp. Tish looked at her friend, waiting for whatever was going on in her mind to come out and show itself.
“ C’mon Tish...” She said, bounding up to her feet with a leap. “ Let’s go back to my place.”
“ Your place?” Asked Tish, unsure of just why the girl was wanting her to go with her. “ What is this al about?”
Lor looked at her straight in the face, a mischievous smile flowing over her features.
“ I will explain it on the way...” She said, pulling Tish up to her feet. “ I have a plan.”
“ A plan?” Echoed Tish, her face twisting in a unusual expression.
“ Yes... A...Plan.” She said, pulling her friend through the playground and heading straight for her house.
The two began the ten more minute walk back to Lor’s home. The blonde girl talked while the brain listened intently. Both girls soon were smiling and giggling away as the made their way together.
