Finn the Lost Adventurer
Summary: The recent events in his life has shaken Finn to his very core. The thrill of adventuring has left him and his heart is in shambles with how many women have broken him. He leaves to explore the unseen areas of Ooo and beyond, all to find the spark he had lost. Finn/Harem.
Chapter 01 – The Wandering Hero

“Huuuuuuuuuuuuh…” groaned a rather despondent Finn the Human.
It had been about a month since that whole mess with his dipwad dad and losing his right arm. He was currently sitting alone on his couch inside of his tree house home. Jake was off with Lady Rainacorn, and BMO was napping next to him.
Yeah, that was something new, Finn and Jake had recently discovered BMO was indeed a girl.
“Haaaaaa…” Finn groaned. He was extremely bored. He had been without stuff to do for quite some time now. Ever since he lost his favorite arm, things have been relatively calm around Ooo. Other than that little mess with the Jameses and when he built his tower, there hadn’t been many events that really put his medal of a hero. There was helping rebuild the Candy Kingdom, but that was only because of his tower and the fact that Princess Bubblegum was pretty miffed with him.
Finn grunted as he thought of ruler of the Candy Kingdom. She was his first crush and his first heartbreak. It also didn’t help that she lied about her age, being over 300 or more years old. She still looked and acted young most of the time, but as of recently she’s been nothing but an annoyance. She’s constantly trying to prove herself as always right, and she’s becoming a lot stricter on her ideals, preventing Finn from enjoying himself. Not to mention as of recent she’s only been calling him for more and more useless missions, missions that her banana guards could handle, that is if they were actually competent.
Thinking about PB got him thinking about the other princesses and other female friends, if he could call them that. As of late he had been feeling more like an errand boy, treated more as a servant than a friend to all. The princesses only called them for emergencies, and sometimes they weren’t even real emergencies, just things that they’re all too prissy to handle. A few of them still treated Finn like a friend such as Breakfast Princess and Jungle Princess, but the rest were just a nuisance. And then there was Flame Princess.
FP, or FK as she was now called, was his first girlfriend and the first person to ever return his feelings. They dated for a good long while until she broke things off. He knew it was his own fault, but considering how she had broken things off with him he was rather insulted that she came back to him for help with her kingdom. The biggest slap in the face came when Cinnamon Bun, freaking CINNAMON BUN, declared some random love for her and had been living in the Fire Kingdom with her. Even though they were still technically friends, FP would never respond to his calls or letters, and every time he tried to visit her, the guards would tell him she’s too busy.
It wasn’t just the princesses, several other people of Ooo seemed to have been treating him more as a tool rather than an actual person. There were exceptions like Huntress Wizard, but most folks did not seem to take him seriously anymore. This went especially for Marceline. She had always been a teaser and a prankster, but as of late she’s been completely blowing off all of their hangout plans and jam sessions. She also took to calling Finn “One-Arm” which really got on his nerves. He knew she wasn’t trying to be cruel, but she just couldn’t see how much she was hurting him.
“Ugh! Why do I even bother?!” Finn groaned out loud. “I mean, what’s the point of being a hero anymore when no one treats me with any respect. Everyone just uses me like a complete tool. Even my best friends seem to treat and see me like a tool rather than an actual person.”
“I don’t see you as a tool Finn,” BMO said as she got up from her nap.
“Thanks BMO,” Finn said, smiling down at the little video game. He let out a sigh and rested his head on his left hand.
It had been a month since he lost his arm, but his recent feelings had been around since after he met Rattleballs. Meeting him reminded Finn of all he had to learn, but it also opened his eyes to just how manipulative some people can be. PB created Rattleballs and had no second thoughts about having him destroyed, even despite Finn’s best attempts to convince her otherwise. It had also made him begin to wonder what the point of adventuring any more was.
For so long he’s gone on missions that could determine the fate of Ooo or himself, he hadn’t gone on an adventure just for the fun of it in so long. He couldn’t even feel the urge to go out and look for adventure and fun. It was like the spark inside his melon-heart was gone.
“Finn, are you okay?” BMO asked, concerned by the saddened look on Finn’s face.
He let out a sigh. “I’m sorry BMO, I just…I just don’t know what to do anymore,” he said sadly. “I mean, I’ve lost it. I’ve lost my drive for adventure. I can’t even think of why I liked it in the first place. With all the crazy junk I’ve gone through lately, I can’t even remember when I just had an adventure for the fun of it. Not to mention that it seems that most folks around treat me more like dirt than their hero. What’s the point of even being the hero of Ooo if you’re just doing everyone’s servant work? I just…I just don’t know what to do.”
BMO had a sad face. “Have you talked to Jake about this?” she asked.
“Are you kidding?” Finn replied. “I love Jake, but I can’t tell him this junk. I mean, he’s been doing so well with his kids and Lady lately, they’re even talking about having another batch of kids. I can’t bum him out with all my junk. Plus, I kind of don’t want him doing something dumb like he did when he went to the Fire Kingdom and lied about me being a prince.” Finn sighed and got up from his seat. “Maybe something to eat will help me out.” Finn walked to the kitchen, leaving the sad and concerned Video Game alone.
He went to the kitchen and started making himself a simple sandwich. He sat down on a table where a bunch of letter were left off. He decided to read some of the messages to see if they could help his mood. A lot of them were from the Ice King, just doing a bunch of random crap in an attempt to catch Finn’s attention. A lot of them were about his princess captures, which was why he and Jake managed to take him down countless times.
Finn kept on reading, but paused on a particular letter. It was about the Ice King and when he left Ooo, landing on an island which turned out to be a woman as well.
It was then, Finn had an idea. “Maybe…maybe I should just…leave,” he said, his voice uncertain.
It…made so much sense to him. Why should he stay in a place that no longer even needed or possibly even want him? There was a huge world out there, and while Finn wasn’t sure he wanted to leave Ooo, there was still much of it he had never seen before. It would be the ultimate adventure. Also, it would get him far away from all those that had hurt him and continue to hurt him. There was nothing left for him.
Sure, there was still Jake, but as of late he and Finn were spending less and less time together. Jake spent most of his time with Lady Rainacorn and his kids. Finn loved his brother, so he couldn’t take him away from his family. Jake had grown up, and now it was his turn.
“It’s decided then. I’m…going to leave,” Finn said, a slight hesitation in his voice. He shook his head, he had made his decision.
He went up to his bedroom and began to pack things in his back pack. He packed clothes, food and a whole lot of other junk. He didn’t know how long he’d be gone, but he was sure it would be for a while so he needed all he could get to be ready for it.
He went down to his weapons room and started deciding on what to take. He decided on taking his golden sword which he had used in the whole black hole incident, the root sword, the iron claymore, the dual katanas, his small curved gold dagger, the skull sword, and lastly the broken pieces of the Demon Blood Sword. Even though it was no longer as strong as it used to be, or even usable, it still held an emotional value to Finn. It was his father’s, his REAL father, Joshua the Dog, and it would always mean the world to him.
With that, Finn felt he was ready to leave. He stopped when he passed the bathroom. He looked at himself in the mirror, staring specifically at the white polar bear hat that covered his head. He let out a soft sigh before taking it off, revealing his short recently cut golden hair. He held the hat in his hand. He had many of these, after the event with his first hat coming to life he decide to get several if he ever lost one or the same thing happened. This hat was his signature, it was what helped people always recognize him. Yet now, Finn could hardly recognize himself.
He left the hat on his bed. He was trying to find change, and that hat would only remind him of the past.
He headed down to the main lounge area where BMO was sitting. “Finn?” she said in confusion as she saw the human. “What are you doing?”
“I’m…I’m leaving BMO,” Finn said. He really didn’t want to say goodbye, but he needed to let BMO know so that she wouldn’t worry.
“Oh, where are you going?” BMO asked.
“I’m not sure,” Finn replied.
“Oh, then when will you be back?” BMO asked.
“That’s the thing BMO, I’m not coming back,” Finn said sternly.
BMO’s eyes went wide. “What?! Why? Did I do something wrong Finn?”
“What?! No!” Finn exclaimed in shock. “No BMO, you’ve done nothing wrong. In fact, you’re one of the only few people that still treat me like a person.” He walked over to the small game device and held her. “I was reading some of the Ice King’s letter and I found the one where he left Ooo for a short while. It gave me the idea that…I should go.”
“But why Finn?” BMO asked. She was sure that if she could, she would cry.
“No one needs me here anymore,” Finn said sadly. “I mean, Jake has Lady and his family, and none of the princesses really need me, much less see me as more than a tool. I want to go out there, see what Ooo and possibly the rest of the world has to offer. I need a change BMO, I’ve lost the drive to adventure, and I think this will help me. I need to get away from everything here. I need…to find myself again. Do you…do you understand?”
“I…I think so,” BMO said, giving out some short sniffles even though she didn’t have a nose. “But Finn, I don’t want to see you go. You’re my friend, and I don’t want to be left alone here.” She began to let out a crying noise which tore Finn’s heart apart. “Finn, if you have to leave, then take me with you.”
Finn was immediately going to argue against this, but stopped. BMO did not want to see him go. She cared about him, truly and honestly cared about him. She may have been one of the few people in Ooo that still did. He didn’t want to make her sad, but he didn’t want her to get hurt while travelling with him. She hugged him tight, refusing to let, go. Finn let out a defeated sigh and said, “Okay BMO, you can come.”
BMO’s eyes widened. “R-R-Really?!” she said excitedly.
“Yeah,” Finn said smiling warmly at her. “I guess it would be nice to have someone to talk to, plus we can play games and adventure together.”
“YAY!” BMO yelled happily before doing a little jig that made Finn chuckle. “Oooh! Let me get some stuff and then we can go!” she said before running off.
Finn chuckled and shook his head. Maybe having BMO with him would be good. She would be able to cheer him up when he was feeling down. However, with BMO coming with him, he needed another way to tell Jake that he left. He spotted some paper and pens and decided to write a note. He grabbed the stuff and sat down before writing out his messaged.
Dear Jake,
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately and have come to the realization that I’ve lost my drive to adventure. Nothing thrills me anymore and I feel like I’ve lost myself. There’s also the fact that nearly everyone in Ooo, especially most of the princesses and some of our closest friends, have been treating me like I’m nothing more than their servant always ready to do their bidding. So with that, I’ve decided to leave.
I’m not sure where I’m going or how long I’ll be gone, it may be for a month or maybe a year or more. The truth is, I need to leave Jake. You told me to listen to my melon-heart, and well, my melon-heart is telling me to go. I can’t stay here anymore Jake, there are just too many painful memories. I’ve been hurt over and over again, and I don’t just mean in the physical sense. I can’t take this pain anymore Jake.
It pains me like you wouldn’t believe Jake, but I need to do this. And don’t come to try and find me, I don’t want you to take you away from your family. They need you Jake, a lot more than I probably do. I will say this bro, you and Lady have my blessings and tell my nephews and nieces I love them just as much as you. You’ve grown up, and I’m really proud of you. Now, it’s my turn to grow up.

Finn read the letter again, and nodded at the message. He knew Jake would be hurt, but he’d be okay.
“I got my stuff Finn!” BMO declared, holding her recharger, a few tapes and her skateboard.
“Okay BMO, just put them in my bag,” Finn said as he let her put her stuff in. He picked her up and set her on his shoulder. He grabbed the letter and set it on the kitchen table, hoping that Jake would read it and not be too mad at him. He went to the front door and took a deep breath. “Well BMO, here we go.”
“Okie dokie Finn!” BMO said excitedly. Finn smiled a small smile before opening the door, leading him to what would be his greatest and possibly longest adventure yet.

“Phew,” Finn said as he sat by a small pond.
He had been walking for a good 2 hours before finding this lovely spot in the middle of a dark forest south of his home. He had walked a good ways away, and could see that the sun at its highest point.
“Hey Finn, where are we going to go first?” BMO asked as she fiddled with her controllers.
“Oh, we’re going to visit someone,” Finn replied. “This may be the last time I see them…and I want to at least say goodbye.”
“Really? Who?” BMO asked.
“Susan Strong,” Finn asked with a small smile. It had been a long while since he had seen the enormous muscular woman that lived alongside the fishy Hyoomans. After helping her find Beautopia, Finn would visit her some times on his own. He had found a tunnel that led straight to Beautopia that did not require going through the deadly trials they had faced the first time. He wanted to see her to confirm some thoughts that had been plaguing him for a long time, and he wanted to find the truth before he left. “Okay BMO, I think that’s enough rest. Let’s get going.”
“Yay!” BMO declared happily as she got onto Finn’s shoulder once more.
Finn walked across the forest, moving calmly and with a small smile on his face. He felt…strangely good. He was on his own, free to make his own choices without anyone to put him down. He felt a small spark in his chest, and while it wasn’t big, it still felt nice to be on an adventure for fun once more.
He stopped when they came upon a large metal hatch. Using his one arm he was barely able to open it, but managed. “Hold on BMO,” he said to the little video game that did as he said. Being extra careful, Finn climbed down the ladder.
He was able to get down with no trouble, but it was a bit of a tiring experience. He got down to a long tunnel, and at the end was an orange glow. Finn smiled softly as he walked towards the glow. He came to the end of the tunnel, and there he saw the marvelous place known as Beautopia.
“Finn, it’s beautiful,” BMO said as she stared at the City Heart, alit brightly and shining down on all the Hyoomans.
“Yeah, it is,” Finn said, happy to the see the place once more. He managed to get down and began to walk around. With the number of times he had come down, the Hyoomans managed to grow use to his arrival.
“Finn!” a powerful spoke from behind. Finn turned around and smiled as he saw the massive form of Susan Strong.
“Susan!” Finn greeted happily. He waved at Susan with his left arm, however she frozen when she saw the missing one.
“Finn, what happen to arm?” Susan said as she tried to reach for the arm, but Finn flinched back.
“P-Please, don’t touch Susan,” Finn said nervously. “Sorry, but it’s a long story. I just came down to say goodbye.”
“Goodbye, but Finn just got here,” Susan said in confusion.
Finn let out a long sigh. “I’ve been…having a lot of problems lately Susan. Problems that…can’t be fixed easily. I’ve decided that I’m going to leave and travel all over Ooo, and maybe even beyond. I’ve lost my desire to go out and adventure…I lost myself. So I’ll be leaving, and I might not come back for a long while.” Finn then looked up to Susan. “That’s why I came down Susan, to say goodbye because this may be the last time we see each other for a while. Also…I want to know the truth Susan.” He looked at her with determined eyes. “I remember you sticking my hand into your hat, but I’m still not sure. Are you a Hyooman Susan, or are you like me. Please Susan, I need to know. This has been tearing me inside for a long time now and I need to know. Please, take off your hat and let me see the real you.”
Finn tried to hold back the tears in his eyes. He cursed himself for getting emotional like this in front of Susan. BMO patted his head comfortingly.
Susan watched as Finn struggled to keep himself from leaking. Throughout his speech, she was able to understand most of his words. She didn’t understand the concept of Finn “losing himself”, but figured it must have meant he was in pain, and he needed to find something to help stop the pain. Finn was her closest friend, the one that showed her the marvels of the world above and showed her how to be brave. She didn’t want to see him hurt.
She reached for her cat-hat and slowly removed it.
BMO looked up and gasped. She patted Finn on the head to look up as well. He did so and gasped at what he saw.
No fins and no gill, just a set of cute round ears and a mane of long beautiful blonde hair.
“S-S-Susan…” Finn whispered, a small smile forming on his face. “Y-You are like me.”
“Yes Fin, me like you,” Susan said as she leaned down, touching Finn’s gill-less face as he did the same.
Finn let the tears fall. Finally, after all the wondering, after all the pain, he had finally found a true human like him. Not a cyborg, not a mutant, and a dipwad like his father, a real true-blue honest and good hearted human like him.
“Thank you Susan, thank you,” Finn whispered happily, leaning forward into a hug. Susan returned the hug, careful not to crush Finn’s body with her tremendous strength. BMO also joined in the hug as well, happy to see Finn smiling so much.
After the rather touching moment, Finn decided to stay a while with Susan for a bit while longer. Finn explained what happened to his arm and his reasons for leaving. After hearing his tale, Susan expressed her dislike for his father by bending a piece of metal into the shape of a pretzel. She didn’t understand the part of Finn’s heart being broken, but she was very angry at the girls that had hurt him and at how the rest of Ooo seemed to treat him. Even so, Finn was just happy to be with another living breathing mostly normal human like him.
“Well Susan, this has been fun,” Finn said as he rose up from his seat. “But I think it’s time me and BMO got going.”
“Yeah! We have adventures to find,” BMO said excitedly.
“Finn, wait,” Susan said, causing Finn to stop. “I want go too.”
“Wait…you want to go up top with me?” Finn said in disbelief.
Susan nodded. “Yes. You help me learn, you show me beautiful things up top. I want to stay up top with you. With H-Hyu-Human Finn,” she managed to say.
Finn was speechless. Never in his life did he expect Susan would want to leave her people to go to the surface with him. “But Susan, I’m going to be on a long journey, and there’s going to be a lot of scary things up there.”
“Susan knows it scary,” Susan replied. “But Susan be brave for Finn. Finn important to Susan.” She pressed her hand to her chest as she looked at him.
Finn looked back with big soulful eyes. “Susan important to Finn too,” he replied, smiling softly. “Okay Susan, you can come.”
“Yay!” Susan exclaimed like a giddy child.
After telling all of her people of her plans, and getting her own pack with supplies, Finn headed back up top with his new human partner. Susan carried Finn back up the ladder and to the outside. Like him, she decided to keep her hat off, but kept it in her pack.
“So Finn, where do we head off now?” BMO asked curiously.
“Hmm, I’m not sure,” Finn said as he took out his own custom map. He then spotted a familiar landmark. “Oh hey, we’re real close to the Bad Lands. Hey BMO, want to see Mo again?”
“Oh yes! Yes! Yes!” BMO said excitedly.
“Mo?” Susan asked in confusion.
“He’s the guy that made BMO,” Finn explained. “He used to be human like us, but as he got older he put in a lot of metal junk in himself to keep him alive, so now he’s a cyborg.”
“Cy…borgle?” Susan tried to say.
“I’ll explain later,” Finn laughed. “Well girls, let’s get moving.” With that, Finn, BMO and Susan headed off towards the Bad Lands.
As they walked, Finn told stories of his previous adventures. Susan proved to be very curious, wanting to know everything Finn had gone through and learn things she had never known before. BMO was just as intrigued, helping Finn with some of his tales. Finn felt very happy telling Susan and BMO of his adventures. Seeing their intrigued and mesmerized faces made him laugh, a feeling he had not felt for many years.
Eventually, the group made to the edge of the forest and he could see the Bad Lands not that far off. He could also see the sun just about to disappear into the horizon. “Well girls, I think this should be a good place to camp for the night.”
“Okay Finn,” BMO replied. She then had an idea. “Hey, how about a movie?”
“Sure, that’d be fine,” Finn replied. “What kind of movie, Heat Signature again?”
“No, I brought some of those old movies you and Jake brought for your last dungeon,” BMO replied.
“Oh yeah,” Finn said, remembering having gone to a dungeon a few weeks ago and finding a whole collection of movies from before the mushroom war. “So which one should we see?”
“How about this one?” BMO said, taking out one of the tapes from Finn’s pack.
“Hmm,” Finn hummed, reading the title on the tape. “Hard Banger? Maybe it’s like some sort of fighting flick. Go ahead and put it in!”
“Okay!” BMO said as she took the tape and put it into her video slot.
“Hey Susan, can you help me set up camp?” Finn asked.
“Okay Finn,” Susan replied.
Together, Finn and Susan built up their camp as BMO played the movie. Finn was right, it was some type of fighting movie as it was about this strange human guy fighting some enemies to save this chick. Normally, Finn would have not liked seeing a film that reminded him of his life, but his feelings were overtaken by Susan’s curiosity. She originally thought that the images on the screen were real, and Finn had to explain how a movie works. It took a while, and Finn found himself laughing all the way by some of Susan’s questions and observations. Eventually she seemed to get the concept and the two decided to continue watching the film together.
They sat before a fire Finn had shown Susan how to make as they watched the film. BMO sat happily, glad to see Finn to be in such a good mood as they watched the film.
“Oh Bruce, thank you for saving me from the evil Lord Khaos,” a white haired lady said as she swooned over a large muscular black haired male in a large bedroom.
”Twas nothing my dear lady Sara,” the big muscular man said in a cool tone.
“Huh, guess the movie’s ending,” Finn said. BMO shook her body and displayed the remaining time on the tape, showing that it was just getting past the halfway mark. “But if this isn’t the end, what’s left to show.”
“I think it’s time I reward you my hero,” the white-haired woman said saucily as she began to take off her clothes.
“What the junk?!” Finn exclaimed as he witnessed the human woman on the film expose her lovely naked body on the screen.
The black-haired man smirked. “Sounds good to me,” he said before removing his own clothes.
What followed was a series of events that Finn had no idea what they were about. He saw the man take the woman to the bed and doing all sorts of things to her with his ding-dong. Finn tried to look away, but he couldn’t. It didn’t help that his own shaft was becoming hard from watching it.

Here it is folks, the first chapter of Finn the Lost Hero, my newest story.
I have to say, I would have never thought I’d make an Adventure Time story a few months ago, but that all changed when I saw the season 6 opener. Finn losing his arm was a big surprise for me, as I’m sure it was for everyone. I mean, it’s been teased over, and over, and over again in the series, but to see it actually happen, and in such an epic/heartbreaking way, was definitely an opinion shaker for me. I liked Adventure Time, but that episode got me to relook at the series and now I really like it far more than I did before.
Now, I started writing this story prior to the episode “Breezy”, which is why Finn is currently missing his arm. Don’t worry, he’ll eventually regrow it, with a surprise.
I like to say I’m glad how this first chapter turned out. Sure, it’s shorter than my other stories, but I think for my first ever dabble in the Adventure Time fandom, I think I got off to a great start. I knew when I started this, I wanted to have Susan be Finn’s first. I think she’s human like Finn, but he kept it a secret to keep her safe. I’m surprised there are very few fics with her in the mix, so I felt I had to put her as the one to start Finn’s harem.
That’s another thing I want to talk about. Finn is currently the only character I’ve written that doesn’t have some sort of special power that attracts girls to him.
