CHAPTER 01: Unexpected Arrival.
“Kim? Can you hear me? Wake up, Baby.”
The sound of her mother's voice brought Kim Possible back to reality. She opened her eyes. Blinding bright sunlight caused her mutated pupils to contract to mere slits. She turned her head away from the bright yellow orb hanging in the blue sky above her. Memories flooded her head as she sat up on the freshly mown grass.
They had been attempting to reach an alternate dimension via one of Dr. Drakken's machines when the trans-dimensional tube they were traveling along intersected with another one. The one Ron had been using in his attempt to reach the same destination. She vividly remembered staring into his eyes, across the closing distance of inter-dimensional void, as the two vortexes crossed paths. The last thing she remembered was the universe shattering around her.
“What happened? Is everyone ok?”
“I don't know, Kimmie. When I regained consciousness, we were here. Just you and me.”
Squinting around her, Kim saw no sign of the others. Just her beautiful teenage wife and mother kneeling beside her. Like herself, Anne was wearing the form fitting nanosuit Wade created for them using Lowardian technology. Between them lay the backpacks of mission gear they'd been wearing when they entered the inter-dimensional tunnel. Beyond that, Kim couldn't see anything but harsh, blinding, glare.
Anne noted her daughter's predicament. The same genetic modifications that gave Kim her demonic features, horns, tail, and claws, also made her eyes hypersensitive to bright light. She dug into one of the packs and extracted a pair of sunglasses. “Here. Put these on.”
Kim slid the glasses on with a welcome sigh of relief. Through the light diminishing lenses, she gazed at the world around her.
What she saw was a sight so familiar, she had to wonder if the collision of the pathways between dimensions had hurled them back home. There, not more than a block of suburban landscape away, was the house she'd been raised in. It took her a few confused moments to realize this couldn't possibly be home.
“I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.”
Anne nodded her head as she also looked toward the house near the top of the hill. “I figured that out when I saw no sign of bomb damage.”
Rising to her feet, Kim thought about how the house looked after Team Impossible's attack. Most of the front wall had been destroyed in their attempt to capture her and Shego. What she saw before her was a house that looked even better than it had before the attack. To her eyes, it looked the way it had before it was rebuilt, twice. The first time, when Drakken unleashed his toy robot minions on the world, and the second, after the Lowardian invaders left almost nothing more than the foundation standing.
She turned to her mother, as she picked up her pack and slid it onto her back. “Remember in the briefing Wade gave us about alternate dimensions? How he said there were an almost infinite number of them existing side by side, like pages in a book, with new ones coming into existence to reflect every possible outcome of anything that happened?”
Anne shook her head. “I wasn't really paying very close attention. Medicine and radical genetic engineering I understand, multidimensional physics is a bit out of my league.”
Kim smiled at that. She hadn't really followed all of it herself. “I think we're in one of those dimensions. Not the one we were trying for either. This is just a guess, but I think this is one of them where everything is almost the same, but time is running at a different speed. I think, in this dimension, we are at an earlier point in time than in our own.”
“Ok. That sounds plausible. So if we ended up here, where did everyone else wind up?”
Kim thought about the others. Her other wife, Shego. Cousin Joss. Dr. Drakken. Her faithful sidekicks Betty, Yori, and Barry. Could they have all found themselves in some other alternate reality? She hoped that was the case. “Somewhere else, I would guess. Since we got ourselves booted into this dimension, I'd be willing to bet the same thing happened to everyone else. The question is, where?”
Anne did remember one part of the briefing well. The part her daughter was obviously avoiding thinking of. The part when Wade explained the risks of being caught in another dimension with no tunnel connecting them to their own. “Kimmie. What if we can't get back to our own dimension?”
Kim shook her head. “I'm certain Wade will find out where we are and get us home.”
Her daughter's confidence reassured her. “How long do you think that will take?”
Kim’s face broke into a smile that openly displayed her inner evil. Her tail slashed the air behind her. “Not sure. There's no telling what happened back home when the pathways collided. Wade might have to repair the Inter-dimensional Physical Trans-locator... Gah! We have got to stop letting Drakken name things! Anyway, we might be stuck here for a little while.” She looked again at the place that wasn't quite her home. “We'll just have to find something to do to occupy our time until he gets us back where we belong.” Her slitted eyes narrowed as she peered at the house as if she were trying to see inside it's walls. “I wonder...”
Anne knew that tone in her daughter's voice. She stepped close to her demonic looking lover and took her in her arms. Her hands found their way down her daughter's back and began squeezing her bubble butt. “What wicked thought's are you having Kimmie?”
Grinding herself against her wife's teenage body, Kim let herself realize what an opportunity this was turning out to be. They hadn't reached their intended destination. Hadn't recovered her, still intensely desired, black magic. Instead they'd somehow fallen into an alternate version of their own dimension that was chock full of possibilities. “You know, if this alternate reality is really just like ours...”
Both evil and horny redheads were distracted by an odd sound. They turned their heads as something began to form in the air between them and the house. It was a spiraling red-orange rift that seemed to grow out of thin air. Kim reacted, almost without conscious thought, to this odd phenomenon. She pulled her mother into some nearby bushes. The both of them watched through the thick, leafy, branches as four figures stepped out of the rift and onto the side of the road opposite the house.
Kim whispered to her mother as she recognized who they were. “That cinches it. If we needed any more proof we aren't in our own dimension, that would be it. I think I would remember if those four ever worked together. Not to mention, in our own universe, one of them is a statue, and another of them is dead.”
Anne placed a finger to her lips. “Shh. They're saying something.”
As the rift disappeared, Monkey Fist looked around. “Where are we, Drakken?”
Duff Killigan sniffed at the air. “It reeks of Middleton.”
Dr. Drakken spoke with an evil grin as Shego placed a hand on her hip, obviously expecting some kind of harebrained nonsense to spew from his lips. “Indeed. The Middleton of the not-too-distant Past.” He a took a couple confident steps toward the house with his hand raised toward it. “To be precise, the day KimPossible.com went online.”
A forlorn look crossed Killigan's bearded face. “Aye. Back before the bubble burst.”
Shego smirked. “Are you sure? I still think you got lucky last time. For all we know, this could just be last Tuesday.” She turned and looked at the Possible home. “Maybe I’d better check.”
Kim and Anne watched as the woman, who was so very much identical to their own sexy, evil, wife, made a stealthy dash toward the house. As she began to climb to the lower roof, their heads turned and their eyes met.
“So in this universe the bad guys work together and somehow came up with time travel? In-ter-est-ing!”
Anne raised her eyebrows speculatively. “Interesting how?”
Kim let the evil giggle, that she and Ricardo worked so hard to perfect, bubble out of her mouth. “Since this isn't our dimension, nothing we do here will matter once we get home...”
In no time at all Anne caught on. A sadistic gleam appeared in her bright blue eyes. “Which means we can really let ourselves go and do absolutely anything we want while we wait for Wade to find us!”
Kim watched as this dimension's Shego peered into an upper floor window, the one she knew, at least in her own dimension, belonged to her own bedroom. “Exactly. No holding back. No reining in our evil. No plan to consider here.”
Anne knew what her daughter was referring to. Her plan to fix all the things they saw as wrong with their world required her to keep from exercising her evil in every way she desired. At home she always had to consider how her actions would affect the outcome of her plan. In this mirror of their own dimension, they could make their innermost desires a reality. “What do you want to do first?”
Kim nodded toward the returning villainess. “First we find out what the sitch is. If they have time travel, things aren't quite the same as in our world.” A look of anticipation suffused her face. “Then, once we know the score...”
On the other side of the bushes, Shego grinned at her villainous cohorts. “She just setup her website.”
Monkey Fist, who had been hanging around in a nearby tree, dropped to the ground. “So what is your plan, Drakken? Do enlighten us.”
Drakken grinned evilly. “When young Kim Possible goes on her first mission, we'll make sure she fails. This time her spirit will be crushed!”
Killigan rolled his eyes. “We tried crushing her spirit. Can we nay simply crush her?”
Hooking a furry thumb at the short Scotsman, Monkey Fist said. “I'm with the mad golfer on this one.”
From one of his pockets, Drakken pulled out a device. Kim and Anne instantly recognized it as his Juvinator. Apparently, in this dimension, it hadn't just sat on a shelf collecting dust.
The blue scientist used the device to instantly turn himself into a preteen. “No, no. Listen!” He said in a youthful, cracking, voice. “We'll infiltrate her life as fellow preteens...”
Shego put her hands on her hips and gave a scathing assessment of Drakken's plan. “Lame!” Kim had to agree as the woman stepped forward, grabbed the Juvinator, and changed Drakken back to his middle-aged self.
The two evil redheads were startled when Shego tossed the device into the bushes, where it landed right in front of where they were hiding. Luckily, none of the villains seemed to notice or care.
Drakken puffed up and clenched his tiny fists. “SHEGO! Have you forgotten the talk we had about hurting with our words?”
Shego glared back at him. “Listen. You're better off with their approach.” A gleeful smile crossed her face. “If you can figure out a way to crush Kimmie, her spirit won't really be an issue.”
Her words seemed to have an effect on Monkey Fist, giving him an idea. “The legends of a long gone mystical sect speak of a being that would be exactly what we need.” He hefted a stone idol, which was shaped like a monkey. Apparently this was what the villains had used to travel in time, since he pointed it at random, and a vortex, just like the one from before, appeared in mid air. He looked back over his shoulder. “If you need me. I'll be in the third century Satsuma Provence...”
Drakken looked at him, puzzled. “Is this another monkey temple?”
Just before leaping into the time vortex, Monkey Fist replied. “Not at all. Gorilla.”
Once the semi-simian villain disappeared, Duff looked up at Drakken. “So what was the lassie's first mission?”
The blue man shrugged. “Something about an eccentric billionaire collector.”
Shego held a hand up. “Wait a minute. That’s all you got? How about when and where? That would be helpful if we're going to pull this thing off, you know!”
Drakken sputtered. “B... But...”
She cut him off. “Fine. Listen, here's what were going to do. You two go find us someplace we can use as a base of operations, while I keep an eye on the preteen Princess.”
The villains parted ways. Duff and Drakken headed down the street in one direction, while Shego once more headed toward the house.
Anne looked at her daughter and found the girl smiling evilly. “What is it, Kimmie?”
Kim reached out and picked up the Juvinator. As she stuck it into her backpack, she spoke. “I already know when and where. Three days from now, a guy named Paisley in Upperton is going to get stuck in a McHenry laser grid he is having installed to protect his prized Cuddle-Buddy collection...”
