……………………………………
Venger had never been as close as he was now in getting the weapons. He chased Dungeon Master’s pupils through the forest and watched as each of the children scattered into the woods, running off into different directions. He knew one of them was injured and followed them, leaving the rest to the orcs.
The trees were thick and he could no longer track the wounded child from the air. He landed leaving Nightmare behind for the moment. It would be just as easy to track the wounded child himself. He transformed into a horse to easily blend into the woods. They were used to his tricks of transformation and learned not to trust what they see so easily. It may take some patience for the child to trust his image.
He spotted the one he was seeking and smiled internally for she was one that he had wanted to capture for a long time. The Thief was tending to her wounded leg huddled next to a tree. The tree would give her little protection as the Orcs would easily find her. Slowly he walked near her, smelling her blood on the ground but keeping his distance.
She jumped up and stood against the tree wondering what was making noises so close to her. Her eyes darted from him to an opening in the forest she could run through. “Get away from me please.” She spoke to him.
He listened but ignored her request knowing that given enough time she would slowly learn to trust him.
Sheila heard the familiar sound of orcs not far in the distance and looked at the fine horse that stood by her. “Well if you were Venger you would have shown yourself by now. You better run. Go! The Orcs treat nothing kindly.”
Venger wanted to take her with no interference. He had plans and their presence will interfere with them. He knelt down to allow her easy access to his back.
Sheila knew she didn’t have much time before the Orcs would find her and in her state she didn’t think she would survive their aggressive treatments. They were rough, foul creatures that enjoyed watching others suffer. She was not interested in being made into sport to feed their brutish minds. After three years in the realm she knew that they could control a crowd through torture; an art form that only an Orc would have perfected.
The sound of breaking branches, only yards away, gave her the courage to trust the horse. “Alright let’s go.” She climbed on and he took off into the woods away from the orcs as well as her friends.
Screams of Orcs were fading behind her and she held on for dear life. Her experience with horses was very limited but she knew well enough that they could not move that quick. After some time she realized they had stopped next to a stream fed by a small waterfall. She stepped to the ground and thanked him. “I don’t know what would have happened to me if I had been caught.” Putting her full weight on her wounded leg she fell and gasped out in pain.
She went to the water and found even after cleaning it, it was an ugly sight. Her leg was struck by one of Venger’s bolts of power as she pushed Bobby out of the way. The skin was partly burnt and blistered and black ugly veins spread out across the flesh.
Venger knew the poison would spread and she would be dead by morning if he didn’t heal her wound. After doing her best to clean the wound with water from the stream she sat down and used some herbs she collected. Sheila learned quick and had an eye for collecting the right herbs and seeds that would help with minor scrapes and injuries. There were some berries left from a few weeks back that would help with the pain and crushed them in her mouth to a paste.
She hesitated placing the crushed berries to her wound as it would really burn at first but in one quick motion she spread it over her wound. A scream came out of her mouth and hugged her body tight.
The Thief was resourceful to say the least. He was impressed with her collection of herbs and the care she took in drying them; she was an asset to her friends. Though the herbs were of good quality they held no magical properties to heal the quickly spreading wound on her leg to any helpful degree.
Her body begged her to rest and she lay down on the soft grass and felt her life drift away. The horse was still there and she looked up and smiled at it. “Hey, I am so glad you helped me. Though I’m afraid it was in vain. That blast did more than burn my skin.”
Venger waited until she was too weak to run or move before he transformed into his true form. Sheila looked up in fear and confusion. “You could have taken me at any point. Why did you bring me here?”
He knelt down and smiled, his thumb caressing her cheek. “I have plans for you and I vowed to Dungeon Master that I would never kill any of you. It was the promise I made when my life was spared in the Dragon’s Graveyard. Though I could very well let you die now as you sacrificed yourself for your brother.”
Sheila did not like the way Venger was looking at her. Is eyes were penetrating her and it was starting to make her feel uncomfortable. “What will you do with me?” She was very weak and her voice mirrored her strength.
“Heal you for a small price.” His fangs prominent amongst his white toothy smile. “I heal you and you wear this.” He held out a necklace of simple but highly crafted design. One of his hands held her head from the ground while the other held the necklace.
Strange warmth spread from his hand and she leaned into it. Her body relaxed and the pain of her leg eased until she only felt a slight tingling. “I can’t trust you or anything you give me” She was falling into that warmth and she wanted more of it, wanted to be held by him. “What are you doing to me?”
“Possessing you.” His voice reverberated through her. The hand under her head moved between her shoulder blades lifting her off the ground. “You can die and let your friends find you. I can only imagine the shock your little brother the Barbarian would experience. Take this and I will save your life.”
Sheila could feel the full pain in her leg returning and she moaned in pain then screamed as she felt the curse travel up her leg, burning it. “Please make it stop!”
“Death will take care of the pain in time. Or you can choose to serve me, be possessed by me your guardian and master.” Sheila shook her head and tried to free herself from Venger’s hold. “This is how you will be rewarded if you serve me.” The warmth she felt only moments ago came back and moved all through her body. The pain from her infected leg was gone and blissful thoughts filled her mind. His other hand holding the necklace pressed down below her navel.
Sheila opened her eyes and started to breath heavily, sweat poured down her face. A familiar pressure built up inside of her but it was deeper than she had ever experienced. It pulsed and soon she moved her hips in rhythm of the pulses.
Her mind cleared enough to realize what Venger was doing to her. “Why?” This was the most intense arousal she had ever felt in her life and Venger was the cause of it. Disgust mixed with arousal brought shame to her and tears ran down her face into her hair. “No, this isn’t right.”
“You’ll enjoy how wrong this is.” He lifted her up, holding her like some doll with her back to his chest. The hand holding he necklace held her in place while the other reached beneath her skirt and found her moist arousal.
Sheila rolled her head back and forth as wave after wave punctured her body. Never had she realized that she could feel such intensity, such overwhelming delight. Soon she moaned in a mixture of pain and pleasure. It was more than she could take. “Please, it’s too much.” She panted out.
Venger would own her and by the time she realized what he had done she would see no other life than the one he created for her. “Very well, this is what awaits you should you chose to serve me.” He released his hand and Sheila rocked and moaned against him when her body reached an orgasm. Never had she thought her body was capable of feeling that good.
He gently placed her on the grass and stood above her. She looked up and the realization of what took place hit her and the pain of her leg returned full force. Shame of Venger’s molestation and the fact she wanted him to do so again, could not be blocked out by the infectious pain that made its way to her hip. “Let me die.”
“Then you die alone.” He threw the necklace on the ground next to her. “If you place that necklace on you will be healed but owe me a life debt. You don’t have much time left Thief.”
“What will it do?” She wasn’t going to take anything without knowing what it does.
“Bind you to the Realm and to me.” He walked off ignoring her cries for mercy and help.
Sheila was growing weaker by the minute. Pain became her only companion as her life left her body. Die or become Venger’s slave. She was so confused by what Venger had done to her. The idea he could actually experience sex was a repulsive thought.
That’s a lie and you know it Sheila. You fantasized about him.
Shut up! It was only for a moment.
You did and longer than a moment.
As Sheila battled her conscious mind the sun began to set and a fear that she would die in the dark, alone scared her.
“Not alone, no please not alone.” Her fingers took hold of the necklace and felt the perfect circle that was the pendant. “I may have a chance to leave this Realm but I need to be alive for that slim opportunity.” She lifted the necklace. “You can help me.” Her strength was waning fast as it took a lot to hold her arm up now. She only had twenty minutes at the most then she would be too weak to decide.
With what little strength she had left she placed the necklace around her neck and snapped the clasp shut. The instant she heard the click of the clasp coolness filled her body then warmth followed. She took a deep breath, then another one. The pain was gone.
She sat up and touched her leg and found only smooth skin. After a minute she stood and brushed the grass off of her clothes and looked around. The pendant grew warm alerting her of its existence. She reached up and panicked. “What have I done?” Her fingers tried to find the clasp but it was no longer there.
“It can only be removed once your life dept is paid.” He smiled at her watching her display of tears as she begged and cried for him to let her go. Venger grabbed her by the throat. “You had a choice and you chose life as my slave. I now own you and you best learn your place fast.”
Panic filled her heart. “What possible value do I hold? I am only a child in your eyes.”
“Nineteen is considered an adult in your world. Three years older than what a matured woman is in the Realm.” He smiled at her with a look that made her uncomfortable. Men held that look for women they… His hand let go of her throat.
“You couldn’t possibly want me for that reason. It’s not in your character. You are the villain, the dark force in the Realm that does evil things. You don’t feel lust.”
Venger’s smile faded. “You have no idea what I feel. This Realm is still a mystery to you even after being here for three years. You could have left the Realm so many times despite my interference had you understood what was around you, had you bothered to look.”
She pulled herself from his hold and countered. “We were simply trying to survive, day after day without any guidance only riddles and quests that led to dead ends.”
“Are you saying that Dungeon Master led you astray?”
Sheila grew angry. “No, he’s been nothing but kind to us.”
“Yet I was the only one here to offer you help. He is very powerful yet he never helps when you need it most. None of you ever questioned that.” He said in disgust.
His words burned into her mind tearing apart an image she was desperate to hold onto. “There must be a reason.”
“Who amongst you ever questioned Dungeon Master and his ways?”
Eric.
Eric was always the one to question Dungeon Master and the group made him shut up and stop being so rude. She looked down, not saying a work.
“That’s what I thought. None of you questioned, none of you searched so not one of you left the Realm.”
His next act would be seen as uncharacteristically kind of him but she would learn how cruel his actions actually where.
………………………………….
Venger brought her to her friends who stood ready for an attack. He had learned that these children were not to be underestimated when threatened. It seemed that Dungeon Master had chosen well.
Sheila attempted to run to her friends but there was a barrier preventing her from walking further than a few meters from Venger. She pushed against it, hit it and begged to be close to her friends one last time.
Bobby raced towards her but was forced back by the barrier and Sheila back only an arm’s length from Vegner. “Bobby!”
“Sheila? What’s happening? Let her go you creep!” Bobby yelled shaking his club in the air.
Hank held Bobby back from attempting the barrier again.
“What do you want Venger? Let her go!” Hank spoke with authority though his heart was sinking. He had a really bad feeling about what was happening.
“I have spared her life Ranger and she is now bound to me by a life dept. She was wounded and dying.”
The Ranger shouted back, letting go of Bobby. “You promised never to try to kill us!”
“You fool; she jumped to save her brother who ran towards the Orcs. I never aimed at any of you so I have kept my promise to Dungeon Master. I saved her life in return for her service.” The light by the campfire made him look even more like the monster that he is. “I’ll break the bond of the dept for all your weapons.”
“She’s our friend and we will not allow you to harm her any further.” Eric piped up with more courage than he thought he had.
Venger glared at the Cavalier. “I saved her where Dungeon Master wouldn’t. Would you have rather seen her dead on the ground the infection devouring her body and the elements eating at her flesh? I spared her that fate.” He looked back at Hand. “The choice is yours Ranger. Break the dept she owes me by giving me the weapons or never see her again.”
“I don’t believe you!” Hank raised his bow to fire at Venger. Sheila stepped in the way.
“I’m sorry Hank, he’s controlling me.” As much as she tried to she couldn’t move away. Every time Hank tried to move around her she moved with him, blocking his shot.
“Now do you believe me, Ranger? Make your choice, the weapons for her or she’s mine.” He grabbed her roughly to him and placed a hand at her thoat.
Hank lowered his bow as everyone else watched. “You’ll never get the weapons.”
Everyone gasped and protested. Sheila wasn’t angry with him. “I’m not angry Hank; you can’t let him have the weapons.” As soon as she uttered the words she fell to the ground in a heap. Venger’s hand imprint slowly faded from her neck.
“She has much to learn about being a slave. I will enjoy teaching her, her place.” Venger vanished with Sheila.
Hank hung his head low and cried. He fell to his knees hitting the ground in anger. No one told him he would have to carry such a burden. Dungeon Master chose him to be the leader but gave him no insight in how to make these decisions. This had become far too real, far too in the realms of adulthood. Tonight he realized he was no longer a child and felt the harshness of the Realm around him.
Eric who normally would show off and point out flaws that he saw remained silent and dared anyone to question Hank’s decision. “Hank, she’ll be alright. We’ll get her back.”
Hank turned and looked at Eric wondering if he actually understood the weight of such a decision. “I want to believe that.”
Bobby sat on the ground by the fire and wiped his tears away. Diana held him in her arms. It wasn’t his sister but he likes the gesture none the less. “Hank it had to be done. You will not blame yourself.” Dianna spoke for everyone.
Presto nodded when Hank looked at him and tried to think of something to say but was at a loss for words. They all sat by the fire and fell asleep in a disquieted mood. Everyone save for Bobby knew that things had changed. This wasn’t some long and tiring game they had to play out again and again. A new energy swept through them and the Realm became more real and their home became the fantasy.
