The three witches known as the Trix - Icy, Darcy and Stormy - walked out of an alleyway laughing and waving fistfulls of cash. Stormy grinned broadly at her sister witches.
"See? Didn't I tell ya that'd be fun?"
Icy grinned back wickedly.
"I gotta admit, that was fun. I think that one guy actually peed his pants when I formed that ice dagger and held it to his throat."
Darcy clasped her hands together, gave a doe-eyed look and fluttered her lashes.
"And that whole 'we're just helpless innocent girls' routine suckered them right in. Street thugs are so gullible."
Stormy gave her a strange look.
"I still can't believe you made that one guy give you his pants too. What's up with that?"
Darcy smirked back at her.
"I just thought he had a cute butt and I wanted a better look."
Icy frowned at the storm witch.
"Now explain to me exactly why we just mugged those guys? What do we need money for when we can just take whatever we want?"
Stormy gave her a smug smirk.
"Because you can't steal your way into the hottest club in town, and blasting your way in kinda ruins the mood. We need cash to pay the cover charge and buy drinks."
Darcy waved her fistful of cash.
"Well, I'd say we've got enough to cover all that. So where is this hot club?"
Stormy waved for them to follow her.
"This way. It's just down the block and around the corner."
Following the sidewalk to the left, they walked to the end of the block, crossed the street to the right, walked half a block and entered an all night convenience store. Icy gave Stormy a dubious look.
"This isn't a club Stormy. Is this some kind of joke?"
Stormy barely glanced at her as she made her way to the counter.
"Relax. The store is just a front. The club is in back."
The clerk leaned his elbows on the counter as she looked the three girls up and down.
"Can I help you ladies?"
Stormy counted out thirty dollars and plopped it down on the counter.
"Three for the Boom Room."
She glanced at her sisters and jerked her head to indicate that they should do the same. Once all three had paid the clerk gathered up all the cash and pressed a button under the counter. A buzz sounded as a door off to the left swung open. The clerk grinned at them.
"Enjoy yourselves ladies."
"Oh, we will," Darcy assured him. She reached out to trail a finger seductively along his jawline. "Maybe later on we'll come back and enjoy you too."
The guy seemed to melt under her touch and gave a piteous whimper.
"Please do."
Darcy smiled teasingly as she followed her sisters through the door into the back. The clerk shouted after them "I get off work at one!"
The room beyond measured eight by eight with tan carpeting, ugly olive green on pale yellow paisely wallpaper, and track lighting along the walls illuminating the fake-wood paneled ceiling. A window in the lefthand wall opened onto a coat room. A cheerfully smiling blond girl stood behind the window counter.
"Hi! Welcome to the Boom Room! Do any of you have anything you'd like me to hold onto for you while you're inside?"
Darcy leered at her suggestively.
"No, but I've got a couple of things you can hold onto when I get back."
The girl blinked at her cluelessly.
"Huh?"
Stormy grabbed her sister witch's elbow and steered her away from the counter.
"We're fine Allegra. Catch ya later."
The girl's bright sunny smile returned as she waved at them.
"Sure thing! See you later Amanda!"
Icy stepped up beside Stormy as they headed for the door opposite the one they came in by.
"You two on a first name basis?"
Stormy shrugged dismissively.
"I've been here a few times. She recognizes me by now."
The doorway was covered by a curtain of black satin strips. Already they could faintly hear the pounding beat of loud music being played beyond it. Pushing their way through they found themselves in a short, dimly lit hallway. The music was noticeably louder here. As they pushed through the curtain at the far end the music grew significantly louder. It felt like walking into a wall of sound as they emerged into the club proper. The room measured 40 feet on a side, with a 20 by 20 foot sunken dance floor dominating the center of the room. Multi-colored lights shown down on the dancers below while roving spotlights panned over the crowd. The ceiling was high enough that a witch or fairy could fly over the crowd without risk of bumping into the lights or kicking someone in the head. Across the room from the entrance stood the DJ's sound booth. A stage, presently unoccupied, stood off to the right, a drink bar to the left. Tables lined the walls, and elvated cages stood just off each corner of the dance floor. Each cage stood on a single metal pole, with a short spiral staircase leading up to it. The cages were cylindrical and clearly intended for single occupancy. Only one was presently in use at the moment while the other three stood empty. As the three witches stood taking in the scene the song that had been playing wrapped up and transitioned to 'Get This Party Started' by Pink. Darcy shot Stormy a sideling smirk.
"Now there's an oldie."
The storm witch just shrugged.
"Someone must have made a request. They let you do that here. Mostly though they just play the newer music."
The trio made their way over to the bar. The bartender, a guy with wavy black hair and built like a boxer, gave Stormy an infectious smile.
"Hey Amanda! Good to see you again."
Stormy leaned on the bar and gave him a fond smirk.
"Hey Tony."
Tony leaned both hands on the bar.
"So who'd you rob tonight, eh?"
Stormy's smirk intensified and turned devilish.
"Same as usual, just some bunch of jerks who thought me and my sisters here looked like easy prey."
Tony grinned and shook his head.
"You keep that up you're gonna scare off all the muggers in town."
Stormy turned sideways and shrugged.
"That's why I don't come out here all that often. If I scare off all the muggers I'll have to start mugging innocent people myself just to get money, and they're not near as much fun to beat up."
Tony threw his head back and gave a hearty laugh.
"Ha ha ha! You keep telling that same story and one of these days I might actually start believing it!"
He jerked his thumb toward her two companions.
"So, are these your sisters then? Can't say as I see much of a family resemblance."
Stormy turned her head to smirk at him again.
"Sister witches, not literal sisters."
She gestured toward each girl in turn.
"Tony, this is Darcy and Bethany. Ladies, meet Tony."
Darcy stepped up to the bar and leaned forward on it provocatively.
"Hey there Tiger."
Tony looked her up and down appreciatively.
"Well hello gorgeous!"
Meanwhile Icy reached out to grab hold of Stormy's ear.
"Nice to meet you. Will you excuse us for a moment?"
Without waiting for a response Icy dragged the storm witch away from the counter by the ear. Stormy objected stridently.
"Ow! Ow! Quit it! Let go! Ow!"
Icy let go and whirled to point a finger at Stormy's face.
"What's the big idea of using my real name? I've told you before, nobody calls me Bethany! My name is I-"
Stormy clapped a hand over Icy's mouth to stop her.
"Hey, cool it will ya? We can't go using those names around here."
Icy yanked Stormy's hand off her mouth and scowled at her.
"And why not? We've worked hard to build our reputations."
Stormy spread both hands and leaned forward.
"That's the problem! Everyone knows the names of the three witches who trashed this town by turning loose the Army of Decay two years ago. If people figure out that was us it'll kill the party mood. Everyone will start avoiding us. I've built up a reputation here as a real party girl using my real name. People here actually like me. Nobody knows who Bethany is, and Darcy is a common enough name not to start a panic by itself, but if you start throwing around our other names we'll never be welcomed here again. I actually LIKE being liked here. This place is fun as long as people don't know who I really am, and I'd kinda like to keep it that way. So just be cool, okay?"
Icy folded her arms and turned to the side.
"Be cool? Hah! I'm the ice queen. There's no one cooler than me. But I am NOT having people calling me Bethany."
Stormy straightened up and placed her hands on her hips.
"Okay, fine then. Pick out a nickname you can live with, just not your usual one."
Icy rolled her eyes and gave a huff.
"Fine. I suppose I can put up with being called Beth, but this place better be worth it."
Stormy gave her a dark grin.
"Trust me, I wouldn't go around letting folks call me Amanda if it wasn't."
The pair walked back over to the bar where Darcy was engaged in flirtatious bantering with the bartender. He smiled and waved as he caught sight of them returning.
"Ladies! Welcome back."
Stormy walked up and leaner one hand on the counter.
"Thanks. We'd like to order our drinks now."
Darcy stepped aside and gestured at three mai tai cocktails standing on the counter in front of her.
"Already taken care of."
Icy gave an impressed grin.
"Now that's what I call service."
Stormy stared in disbelief.
"We weren't gone that long! How did..."
Tony grinned.
"Here in the Boom Room we aim to please."
Icy reached into her skirt pocket and pulled out some cash.
"How much do we owe you?"
The bartender held his hand up to stop her.
"First round's on the house ladies. Enjoy!"
Darcy leaned across the counter and kissed him on the cheek.
"Thanks Tony. You're a doll."
A faint blush touched the bartender's cheeks as the three young witches walked off with their drinks. Stormy glanced at Darcy suspiciously.
"How did you do that? I've been coming here for months and I've never scored free drinks."
Darcy waved a hand in the air like it was nothing.
"You just gotta know how to talk to people, that's all."
Icy jerked her head toward the back corner between the bar and the DJ's booth.
"Come on. Let's go find some seats."
Stormy had no objection. One of the few rules of the club was 'No dancing with a drink in your hand.' Not that people didn't occasionally do it anyway, but that was one thing that could get you asked to leave, and this was one place Stormy really didn't want to start trouble. The three witches found a table where they could sit with a wall at their backs and still have a decent view of the action on the dance floor. As they sat sipping on their drinks Icy remarked "You know, this place isn't half bad. About the only thing wrong with it is that we're not running the show."
Stormy leaned back in her chair and held out her drink.
"What, are you kidding me? We've got free reign her to do or be anything we want. I like not having to be in charge. I don't have to bully people into being afraid of me. For a few hours I get to relax and just enjoy myself without having to worry about maintaining my rep. Even better, people here actually like me. That's something I don't get anyplace else."
Darcy leaned forward and pointed at the storm witch.
"That's what I don't get. How exacly did you get so popular?"
Stormy took a sip of her drink and set it down.
"Hell if I know. I think it started back when I used to go to another nightclub called Torrid. I slept with some guy and left him tied to the bed. Next time I came back there were guys falling all over each other trying to get with me."
Icy leaned forward with a frown.
"Wait. You left a guy tied to a bed and just walked out on him and somehow that made other guys want to sleep with you?"
Stormy shrugged.
"Yeah. Go figure. Way I hear it that made me some kind of a legend or something. Made no sense to me but suddenly I was all popular and I just went with it."
Darcy sat stroking her chin thoughtfully.
"Actually it does make a certain kind of sense. Tell me, this guy you had sex with, was he well known by any chance?"
Stormy looked up at the ceiling, laying a finger along her chin in thought.
"Well, yeah. Now that you mention it I do remember hearing that they used to call him The Operator. He had a reputation for being able to bed any girl he set his sites on."
Icy gave a smirking sneer.
"And to his great misfortune he set his sites on you."
Darcy nodded in agreement.
"Exactly. Stormy upset the pecking order by turning the tables and taking advantage of him. She toppled a legend and became one herself."
Stormy gave a puzzled frown.
"Yeah, but shouldn't that type of reputation make guys want to avoid me, not flock to me?"
Darcy raised an eyebrow and smirked.
"You're kidding, right? You conquered one of their great conquerors. What guy wouldn't want to take a shot at jumping up the social ladder by bedding the bitch who took down the local alpha male?"
The look of disgust and outrage on Stormy's face was priceless.
"THAT'S why all the guys around here are so nice to me? They're all trying to SCORE on me?"
Icy settled back in her chair, drink in hand.
"Why so shocked? You're the one who set the tone when you scored on this Operator guy."
Darcy made a bridge with her hands and rested her chin on it, smiling at Stormy like a cat with a mouse.
"If you don't like the game you could always switch teams. I'm sure there's at least a few girls around here who'd love to get in bed with you."
Stormy pulled a face.
"Ew. Lesbians? Who does that kind of stuff?"
Icy gave Darcy a lecherous leer.
"Gee, I don't know. Who does do that kind of thing Darcy?"
Darcy accepted the hand Icy held out toward her and grinned back.
"Gosh, I have absolutely no idea."
Stormy shut her eyes and shuddered in revulsion.
"Ugh! Would you two get a room already?"
Icy raised Darcy's hand to her lips and kissed her gloved knuckles.
"As much as we'd love to, tonight is a night for new conquests. Isn't that right Darcy?"
Darcy slowly drew her hand back, pulling Icy's along with it.
"That's right. Variety is the spice that keeps the old magic going strong."
She took Icy's middle finger into her mouth and sucked on it as she slowly pulled it out, maintaining eye contact the entire time. Stormy drew back, her lip crinkled in disgust.
"Ugh! Why did I ever agree to bring you guys with me tonight?"

Meanwhile three familiar figures walked into the convenience store out front. The flower fairy, Flora, looked around uncertainly.
"This doesn't look like a club to me. I think we're in the wrong place."
The water fairy, Layla, shrugged.
"This is where that guy told us to go."
The music fairy, Musa, gave her dark-skinned companion a cautioning look.
"Yeah, but last time some strange guy gave us directions to a hot underground club it was a trap set by Icy, Darcy and Stormy. They were holding Stella hostage and demanded her Solaria ring as ransom."
Layla shot her a curious look.
"When was that?"
Flora extended her hand helpfully.
"During our freshman year. The witches wanted the ring because they thought the Dragonfire was inside it."
Layla glanced at each of her two friends.
"Sounds like quite a story, but I really doubt we're gonna see those three tonight. They're probably too busy plotting with Baltor what spells they're gonna steal next."
Flora lowered her head.
"I still feel guilty for sneaking out of Alfea like this and leaving Stella, Tecna, Bloom and the pixies to cover for us."
Musa placed a hand on the flower fairy's shoulder.
"Come on Flora. We had to get out of there for a while. We were buggin' out under that lockdown Ms. F. and Ms. G. have on the school while Baltor's loose. You were stressin' more than any of us. This night on the town will do us all a world of good."
Flora looked worried.
"But we're going to be out all night. We won't be able to sneak back into Alfea until they lift the barrier at dawn."
Layla gave her a wink.
"So let's make sure it's a night to remember."
Musa gave a 'follow me' wave.
"C'mon. That guy said we'll need to talk to the guy behind the counter to get in."
The clerk looked them up and down suggestively as they approached the counter.
"Good evening ladies. What can I do ya for? Aheh."
Musa ignored the crude remark.
"We're looking for a place called the Boom Room."
The clerk shrugged casually.
"Sorry ladies. We don't have a public restroom."
Musa shook her head.
"No no. Not the bathroom. The Boom Room. It's a club."
The clerk raised his eyebrows.
"Oh yeah? What kind of club?"
Layla leaned both hands on the counter.
"An underground dance club. We were told it was here."
The clerk took a slow glance around the store.
"Um, nooope... Doesn't look like there's a club here to me."
Musa turned away from the counter in disgust.
"Come on guys. We're obviously wasting out time."
The clerk leaned forward on the counter.
"Although from what I hear underground clubs don't exactly like to advertise themselves too much."
Layla gave him an over-the-shoulder glance.
"That is kind of the definition of 'underground'."
Musa frowned at him.
"So do ya know where the place is or don't ya?"
The clerk narrowed his eyes and looked up toward the ceiling with a hint of a smirk.
"Well, I can't exactly say as I do..."
Layla hiked herself up to sit on the counter, placing her dark, bare thigh on prominent display.
"But I'd be willing to bet you've heard a few things, right?"
The clerk gazed down at her exposed thigh appreciatively, then looked up at her with a knowing grin.
"Word on the street has it places like that are very choosy about who they let in. Screening potential newcomers helps keep the losers out and ensure a more positive experience for those who do get in."
Flora clasped her hands together hopefully.
"Golly. Do you think they'd let us into a place like that?"
The clerk gave her a quick toe-to-head glance before nodding.
"I'll bet you'd do alright. Of course I also hear places like that have a real steep cover charge to get in. Can't make the scene is you ain't got the green."
Musa propped her fist on her hip.
"How much green are we talking here?"
The clerk glanced up toward the ceiling and scratched his neck in thought.
"Oh, I'd imagine somewhere around thirty ought to cover it."
Layla slid off the counter.
"Thirty dollars for all three of us doesn't sound so bad."
The clerk shook his head.
"Each."
Musa looked outraged.
"Thirty bucks each?! That's highway robbery!"
The clerk shrugged and leaned his elbows on the counter lazily.
"Hey, that's just what I hear. Of course I wouldn't really know about such things, never having been to one of those expensive fancy underground clubs myself."
Musa scowled at the clerk, but before she could open her mouth to retort Layla laid her hand upon her arm.
"Come on Musa. Let's just give it a try. Worse comes to worst we're each out thirty bucks and have a lousy night. Better comes to best we have ourselves a wild time out on the town and a new favorite spot to party when we can afford it."
Musa continued to glower at the clerk as she got out her wallet and laid down thirty dollars.
"This place had better be worth the hassle of getting in, that's all I got to say. And who says 'better comes to best'?"
Once Layla and Flora followed suit the clerk gathered up the cash and pressed the hidden button under the counter which buzzed open the door off to the left. He gestured toward the door and grinned.
"I hope the night meets with your expectations ladies."
The three girls filed through the door into the ugly lobby of the club. Musa winced at the decor.
"Man! Whoever decorated this place must have been blind!"
"I know! It's terrible, isn't it?"
All three girls turned toward the voice to see a girl of about their own age standing behind a counter set into the wall. The blond girl gave them a sympathetic smile.
"This may only be the lobby but you'd think they could afford to do something about making it look decent. Sometimes I seriously think about gouging my eyes out just so I don't have to look at it anymore."
Layla stepped up to the counter.
"Hi. Is this the Boom Room?"
The girl rolled her eyes and grinned.
"Lemme guess. You're new here, you just got done talking to Chuck and now you're totally confused, right? Don't mind him. Chuck can be a real ass. I think he gets off on the power trip of playing gatekeeper for this place. I'm Allegra. Welcome to the Boom Room. Do you have anything you'd like me to hang onto for you while you're inside?"
By this time Musa's sensitive ears had picked up on the faint music coming from the curtain of black strips across the room from where they'd come in. She turned to shake her head at Allegra.
"No thanks. We're good."
The blonde shrugged and leaned on the counter with a smile.
"Okay then. Enjoy yourselves! Oh, and if you happen to lose any articles of clothing they generally turn up here so you can reclaim them on the way out."
Flora blinked at her incomprehendingly.
"Why would we lose our clothes?"
Allegra spread her hands and shrugged.
"It's been known to happen. Have fun ladies!"
Exchanging a glance with the other two, Layla gave a little shrug and headed for the curtained doorway.
"Come on ladies. The party awaits!"
Passing down the short curtained hallway, the trio emerged into the club proper. They paused to look around, taking in the setup and the highly charged party atmosphere. Musa turned to grin at Layla.
"Alright! Now this is what I'm talking about. Looks like a fun crowd!"
Layla looked at her two friends with a delighted grin.
"What should we do first?"
Flora gave a worried look.
"Maybe we should leave."
Musa gave her a baffled look.
"Leave? How come?"
The flower fairy pointed across the room.
"Look!"
The other two glanced at the brunette then looked where she was pointing. A head of white hair with a high ponytail caught their attention first, drawing their attention to the three witches seated at the table in the far left corner. At that same moment Darcy happened to glance toward the doorway, then took a better look and smirked.
"Well well. Look what the cat dragged in."
Icy followed her gaze and grinned.
"Well if it isn't some of our favorite fairy friends."
Layla gave a troubled frown.
"What're those three doing here?"
Musa scowled angrily.
"I knew it! This place is a trap, just like the last time!"
Stormy scowled angrily.
"What are they doing here? And why are there only three of them?"
Darcy shrugged.
"Who cares? This night just got a lot more interesting."
Layla placed a hand on Musa's shoulder.
"Let's not jump to conclusions. Maybe they're just here to party like us."
Musa crossed her arms stubbornly.
"Whatevs. Either way, I am so over this place. I do not party with witches, especially those three."
Stormy leaned forward and pointed a finger at Darcy.
"Look, don't you go starting anything, okay? I don't want any trouble here."
Darcy quirked an eyebrow at her.
"Don't cause trouble? Now where's the fun in that?"
Layla placed both hands firmly on Musa's shoulders.
"Look, this is our night out. Let's not let them ruin it for us. Besides, we've already paid the cover charge and I doubt they'd give us a refund. We should at least try to enjoy ourselves as long as we're here."
Flora placed a gentle hand on Musa's arm.
"Maybe Layla's right. There's a lot of other people here having fun. Why don't we give it a chance?"
Stormy pounded her fist on the table.
"I mean it Darcy! I like this club and I am not letting you get me kicked out! I was pissed when Torrid got shut down. I don't wanna lose this place too."
Icy folded her arms.
"Relax 'Amanda'. We get it. We'll play by the rules. But that doesn't mean we can't still have some fun with those fairy losers."
Musa shot a glare toward the back corner where the witches sat.
"I don't like it. Those three aren't gonna just pass up the chance to mess with us."
Layla got a determined look on her face.
"Then I say we take the initiative and go over there and confront them now. We prove to them that we're not afraid of them and we're not gonna let them scare us off or ruin our evening."
Stormy folded her arms and slouched back in her chair.
"Fine. You guys do whatever you want, but if I get asked to leave because of you I'm gonna level this place and the two of you with it."
Musa and Flora both nodded and the three fairies headed over toward the table where the Trix sat. Taking notice of this, Icy pointed in their direction.
"Heads up ladies. Looks like they're headed this way."
Darcy grinned.
"Sweet. Saves us the trouble of going after them."
