The Disdain
Even victory can cause the victorious to suffer.

Prologue
Her own mother had conspired against her to bring this about. The witch Evil Lyn was not dead. The king spared her life as an act of good faith to those who wanted to show mercy even to those who had at one time threatened to kill them. He-man and her father Duncan finally had defeated Skeletor and his forces. The evil lord lay in shackles in the dungeon of castle Greyskull while his followers met a bloody fate towards death, all but the witch.
Teela watched the sleeping black haired woman with envy. Originally, the witch possessed white hair but a last attempt at trying to disguise her appearance with sorcery went array and caused her hair to change as black as her heart. Now she lay in the Prince’s bedchamber as his newly wedded wife. This was her punishment for trying to kill them. She would provide the people of Eternia the heirs to their kingdom. Although Adam was not present when the wedding took place, he had signed the charter for this union and would return in two days to claim his bride. Her own mother the sorceress of Greyskull carried the document from Adam to the king herself.
“It is forbidden for you to be here. ” The slight whisper was in the air and in her mind. It made her inside cringe with pain and anger. A mother’s voice should make one feel safe and loved. Teela felt none of those things. She felt betrayed by the one person who should love her the most.
The dejected captain set her jaw in a hard line and stared at the ghost like figure before her. “What is forbidden is that she lives and sleeps in his bed. You knew of my feelings and set about to destroy them from the start. You had no desire to see to my happiness. ”
“Your desires for the prince are not my concern. You have made that clear to me on every occasion that we saw each other. Prince Adam has never expressed any interest in you Teela. ”
“You never gave it a chance. You would call him away ever time we were together. Then you began to poison his mind against me. ”
“Love enchantments are dangerous. You would render our greatest champion useless. You have let your desires rule what you know is right. Until you realize that your desire is fleeting I must protect our champion. You will not be able to cast any spell on him while he is married to Lyn. She will inadvertently stop them by her presence. You cannot enchant a witch or that which is bound to her. “
The presence of her mother faded and the sorrow in Teela’s heart rose. She could not face the fact Adam did not love her as she did him. He loved her as a sister and it was enough for him but not for her. She would protect Lyn as if she was her sister but all the while, she would wish her death. Teela turned from her sleeping enemy and walked from Adam’s bedchamber.

The violet eyes of the captive witch slowly opened when she felt the presence of her rival leave. She knew of the woman’s love for the Prince Adam. Skeletor spoke of it often. He knew that the sorceress would spare his beautiful witch for her warrior. A union between the two forces would ease the people’s fears knowing they could keep an eye on her.
This was not what she wanted; but at least she was alive and she planned to stay that way. She would use every excuse to keep the prince away for as long as she could until she found away to release her master. She promised him she would when they took his beaten body away. She had to keep her promise to her master.
The presence of the magic circulated within her room and Lyn closed her eyes. “He gave you up for his own life. ”
Lyn’s eyes slowly opened. “You know nothing. He was tricked by you and He-man. ”
“We offered him nothing and he gave us you before you could escape us. He told us where you were hiding and what you were doing. He told us what you would look like. Soon your magic will wear off, your true form will return, and there will be no denying who you are. He still wants to use you for his own gain. You are an intelligent woman Lyn. You know that he has betrayed you. Why keep your promise when he has no loyalty to you. ”
Lyn sat up in the bed glaring at the shadowy figure beside her bed. “You Lie. He would never betray me. ”
“As you say Lyn,” The presence disappeared and the witch stared into the emptiness where it had been. It was all a ruse as Skeletor had said. They would say anything to get her to go against him. She was more determined than ever to help him escape so he could recover his power and wage war on Eternia. She would set all her mind and strength to that mission but first she had to deal with her new husband. Lyn fell back onto the firm bed with a sigh. She had two days to worry about his return to the kingdom to take her as his wife. She also had the Captain’s jealousy to manage. She somehow had to turn this into her advantage without losing herself and her powers.
