The alarm clock went off, and Toph laid there, letting it ring.

She had already been awake for about half a hour anyways, and she didn't even know who had decided to set the clock for her anyways.

She was still laying there, feeling no urge to get out of bed when a maid came in, and shut off the clock for her.

"Now now, it's time to get up." the maid scolded.

While she couldn't make out facial features, Toph was able to 'see' that her maid was a plump short woman, and from the sound of her voice, she seemed older.

"Why, it's not like anyone needs me anywhere." She said, sounding pouty.

"Now now, you know that's not true. You're one of the hero's who saved us all." tsked the maid, reaching down and yanking the covers off of her, leaving Toph in just a white nightie, curled up.

"Hey! c'mon!" She yelped, sitting up, trying to grab the covers, but they were yanked off the bed.

"Listen, they don't need the help of a blind earth bender who can't even bend anymore alright? so just let me lay down and mope in peace." Toph said, bottom lip sticking out

Ever since she had almost died during the final fight, Toph had found herself completely cut off from her metal bending, her sand bending and within a few days, the most she could do for earth bending was lift pebbles and go on with 'seeing' with her feet. She hated that she was this helpless, that she was exactly what her parents had always thought she was..

So she had stopped attending the meetings, where her friends planned out the rebuilding of the areas decimated by the fire nation, Where they were planing what to do with those who still wanted to fight.

"They don't want you there, because you can make boulders lift up, or turn steel into your plaything." The maid said, walking over to Toph's hamper, filling it with the blanket and her dirty clothes.

"They want you at the meetings, because your there friend. that's how I see it anyways." She said, and then left.

Toph sat up, sighing. at least somebody had faith in her...now if only she could feel that way herself.

"Alright, Now if I may suggest, perhaps the Avatar could make rounds and use his energy bending on some of the more..violent inmates?" A fire nation general suggested.

The meeting room was fairly large, with a large table in the middle, a map of the world on it, various figures placed over it.

"Look, for the last time, Aang can't just go around using energy bending like other forms of bending, there's always a risk in it." Zuko said, fists on the table.

"I wouldn't mind trying though.." Aang piped up.

"And risk losing your bending powers?" Katara asked, shaking her head. "If you lose your powers, that could well mean no more Avatars anyways."

"That, would be bad." Sokka said. "Can't we just brain wash them like the Judys?"

"Now there's a pleasant memory." Came the dry reply.

Everyone who was used to it turned and smiled as Toph walked into the room.

"Who is this little girl?" Asked the same general, who now had a look of annoyance on his face.

"This little girl, General Ro, Is one of the hero's who helped us save the world, back when you were working for my father." Zuko said, voice going icy.

"And might I ask her name?" Ro shot back, still viewing her with a critical eye.

"Well, if you ask her." Toph said, elbowing past him, over to by Zuko. "Then she might tell you that her name is Toph."

"I..see.And what do you have to-"

"That is ENOUGH!" Zuko said, getting up and storming over to the genral. "You will respect my friends, you will stop the lip, and you will say nothing more and nothing less than what is required of you, and only when it applies to this meeting. do I make myself clear?" Zuko said, a finger up in the generals face.

"Only thing missing there, was him saying Bitch at the end." Sokka snickered, Making Suki join in.

"I understand." General ro said, though cletched teeth.

"Moving on with the meeting. My uncle has sent word that the earth Kingdom needs help in the rebuilding effort. they have all the earth benders needed of course, but tons of crop was destroyed before the Zeppelins were taken care of."

"The water Benders can come and help bring fresh water in some of the harder hit areas. it'll take time but they should be able to make some aqueducts." Katara said.

"That'll help. How soon do you think you could spear head the project?" Zuko asked.

"Wait, you want Katara to be in charge of this?" Aang asked.

"Look, I know you want the Gaang to stay together, but we have to admit, that some of us are going to be needed elsewhere." Zuko said.

"I-I suppose i can be gone by tomorrow, and can meet up with the other water benders in a couple of days." Katara said, looking a little unsure.

"Alright. Moving on.." Zuko said.

Toph was taken back a little bit, at the take charge attitude of Zuko, but found herself liking it, compared to how whiny he had been when he first joined the group.

She tuned out of most of the rest of the talk, tuning in when she heard Suki and Sokka being asked to help with a joined nations/kingdoms fighting task force. combining the awesome earth bending of the Dy lee warriors, with the skills of the Kyoshi Warriors and under the leadership of chief Hakoda, they would also be supported with top fire benders. It would be a interesting team, and Suki and Sokka were asked to leave to join it to help ease over tensions that might arise from the differnt nations.

Toph couldn't help but notice, that as the meeting went on, many people were given tasks, told to go and do this and that, but she was never asked a question, and so she kept her mouth shut for the most part, though she could tell that General Ro kept looking over at her.

"Listen Aang, I know you hate having to fight, and you just wanna rebuild the air benders, but we have a few tough pockets of residence remaining, who are swearing that my father will come back, and be greater than ever." Zuko said.

"I can head down with Tinkle toes, And help him out." Toph said, speaking up for the first time.

"Really?" Ro said, a sneer at his lips.

"Toph..Not to dismiss you..but..have your powers even come back yet?" Katara asked softly, cutting Aang off from saying yes.

Toph huffed, and turned to Katara.

"Lok her, Everyone else is getting an Important job, and earth bending or no earth bending, i can be a huge help to Aang." She said.

"And I'll be glad for the company." Aang said, not wanting to start a fight.

"Look, you need to accept that without your bending,you're not that much of a help to Aang, and actually could end up being a distraction!" Katara shot back.

"I'm sure your boyfriend will be alright and I'll be just fine! If chuckles here could manage to stay alive throughout all of this, then I'll be golden!" Toph said, slamming a palm down on the table.

"So the mighty Earth bender can't even live up to her name." Ro said.

"SHUT UP!" Both Katara and Toph yelled at him, at the same time.

"Aang is not my boyfriend." Katara said, cheeks red.

"I'm not?" Aang asked.

"For the love of.." Katara started.

"Look, I came here to try and help, but if I'm useless to you now, then at least have the guts to say it to my face!" Toph yelled.

She felt the hot tears leaking down her face far too late to be able to stop them, and knowing it made her look even more like a little girl.

"Toph..are you..OK?" Katara asked slowly, sounding worried.

"I'm just fine, they're only tears.." She started, and then paused.

At first she had assumed she had knocked something over onto her lap, and that's what the warm wetness was down there, but from how the others were reacting..and the smell reaching her lips.

"Not a little girl indeed." Ro said.

That was all Toph heard, as she took off running from the room, leaving a yellow puddle behind.

After she had gotten cleaned up. Toph just stayed in her room, a chair against the door to keep anyone from coming in.

She stayed on her bed, with it's fresh blankets and sheets, curled up in a ball.

"What's wrong with me?" She sniffled.

She could of handled losing her powers. but now this?

Worse, she felt betrayed by her friends. she had thought she was welcomed among them because of who she was, not because of what she could do.

Sure, she could go off on death missions if she could bend, but if not, then she wasn't worth having around? well to hell with them. If she was going to be kept safe in a small room all the time, she might as well go home. at least then it wouldn't hurt as much getting treated like this by her Parents, instead of her so called friends.

"Can I come in?" Came Zuko's voice.

"Isn't this your Palace?" Toph shot back, making no move to get up.

"Yeah, but I don't wanna disturb you if you'd rather be left alone." he said back.

"..Fine. give me a minute..i have to move a chair." She said, getting up and walking over. there was a wet spot on her bed, and her clothes were damp, though that was due to her having neglected to dry off very well after her quick shower, not anther accident.

She moved the chair away from the door, and stepped back.

"It's open." She said, and then turned to walk back to her bed.

the door opened behind her,and Zuko walked in,shutting the door behind then taking the chair which had been placed near the door and pulling it over to the bed.

"Do you wanna talk about the fight or what happened?" He asked.

"Why do you care." She asked, turning away from him, back on the bed and laying down.

"Weren't you the one who wanted to have a life changing experience with me." Zuko asked, smiling.

"That was back when the team didn't think i was useless." Toph said.

"No one thinks your useless Toph. Katara is just worried."

"Worried about her boyfriend. about how poor defenseless Toph would make it too easy for the big bad guys to take her as a hostage." She snapped.

"No, she's worried that you would go too far to try and prove your not helpless, and get killed. Aang still wants you to go with him, but he's also worried about you. In fact, if you had your powers, he would of preferred you head back to help with the rebuilding instead of come with him anyways." Zuko said.

"..They're still all jerks." Toph said.

"Are you still mad at Katara for that, or are you lashing out because of your accident?" Zuko asked.

Though she had never seen the color red, she could feel the heat rushing to her cheeks.

"I don't even know what happened there." She admitted.

"Did you have to go before hand, and you were just waiting too long?" Zuko asked.

"No, I didn't even know I had gone at first. I thought I had knocked over a drink." Toph said, rolling over to meet him. "I can't Sand bend, can't Metal bend, Can't even earth bend beyond a pebble..and now this."

Zuko's heart felt like it was going to break, as he watched one of the strongest people he knew start to tear up, her bottom lip trembling.

"Zuko..whats wrong with me?" She asked, breaking into tears.

"I don't know Toph..But for everything you've done for me and the world, we're going to find out." He said, coming over and hugging her.

"So in short Firelord..We have no clue." Said the doctor, bowing before Zuko.

"Great." he said, putting a hand to his forehead. "Alright, dismissed."

The doctor ran off, used to the old ways, where the bearer of bad news was killed.

"Well?" Toph asked, wearing a short white medical gown, the back tied a bit, but her undies could still be seen.

"Nadda." Zuko said.

It had been about 4 days since his promise to Toph that they would find out what was wrong with her. First they had gone to see Katara, who hadn't been able to help them. if she had had more time, to study the problem maybe, but the amount of people who needed her help elsewhere took priority, so she had left the next morning.

They had tried getting Ty lee to work some of Toph's pressure points, which had resulting in Toph not only wetting herself, but filling her pants.

Going on from that, Zuko had called the greatest doctors from all around the fire nation, having each of them examine Toph,and no one had been able to give them a answer as of yet.

"Maybe as far as the bending goes..you just need to get back to the basics, like I did for awhile?" Zuko suggested, turning away as Toph got dressed.

"Well, I suppose that could help. But I'm wayy more concerned with finding out why I'm wetting myself more often then I'm making it to the bathroom. Roze is getting a little tired of washing my clothes and sheets all the time." Toph said.

She was talking about the maid of course, who had come to be rather understanding, if not a little bit annoyed at times with what was happening to Toph.

"Well, again, Just a idea..but tell me something Were you in a rush to grow up?" Zuko asked.

Toph had finished getting changed at this point, and came over to join Zuko as they left the doctors office.

"Well,I suppose. I mean my parents always thought I was a helpless little girl. So I wanted to grow up and get out of there asap." Toph said, shrugging her shoulders.

"Right. So you never really took the time to BE a little girl right?" he pressed.

"Well, from as young as I can recall..not really. I didn't wanna be the little wimp my parents saw me as, and then I couldn't be weak while the gaang needed me.Why are you asking all these questions?"

"It's just a thought..but what if you not only need to get back to the basics for your earth bending, By visiting the Badger moles and going around the tunnels with them..but what if you need to go back to the basics..for this." Zuko said, looking away.

"You had better not be suggesting what I think you are." Toph growled.

"Look at it this way." Zuko said, Smiling a little, and patting her back. "At this rate, Roe was going to diaper you anyways, my way, if it works,it's only for awhile."

"gee, why doesn't that make me feel any better?" Toph asked dryly.

In the end, the supplies were gotten, and it was to be kept a secret, what was going to be going on in Toph's room.

She had agreed to let herself be diapered, and she would even try and act like a little girl again, but the price for this was she was only letting two people see her like this.

One of them was going to be Roze, who would be handling any diaper changes, a topic which had almost made Toph drop the whole idea.

The other was Zuko, who had been told more or less, that since this was his grand idea, that he better be willing to play along as some sort of daddy or big brother figure.

At the moment Zuko was waiting outside, as Roze got Toph changed, though judging from the swearing coming from the room, it wasn't going smoothly.

He was also trying to set aside enough time to actually be able to help..since as fire lord he was suppose to be attending to a lot of matter of state. So far, he had it set so he could spend about 2 hours with toph in the moring, 2 hours in the afternoon, and then most of his night was free, unless he had dinner he had to attend.

He was also trying to work out if taking breaks to let Toph come down to the dinning room would work or harm what they were going for, and how he would handle having food brought up.

"She's ready." Roze said, A slap mark on her face, and a eye twitching.

"Have I mentioned how much she'll thank you if this works, not to mention the huge pay raise I'm giving you?" Zuko asked.

"I feel like a dork." Was the first thing Toph said to Zuko, hidden for the most part under her covers.

Her room had been reworked a little. a changing table was set up by a wall, Stocked with diapers, plastic pants and a diaper pail, not to mention powders and ointments.

Where a desk and a book shelf had been was now replaced with thick red carpet on the otherwise stone floor, and a large play gate, that would serve as a 'play area' for little Toph, filled with stuffed toys, dolls and blocks.

Rails had been added to Tophs bed, which really shouldn't make it hard for her to get down, but would give the bed a crib like feeling.

Toph had been rather adament thatshe wasn't sleeping in a crib, or using a real play pen, so Zuko and Roze had made minor changes.

"Come on,I bet you look cute. And competently not dorky." Zuko said, walking over to the bed.

"No, I'm quite sure I look like a dork, because I feel like one." She insisted, keeping the covers tucked around her tight."I'm fighting the urge to beat myself up." She added.

Rolling his eyes, Zuko lifted up the other end of the blanket and instead of trying to tug it off of Toph, snaked a hand up till he found her foot, and started to tickle it and was rewarded by a outbreak of giggles.

"not fair not fair time outttt!" Toph giggled, squirming and crinkling under the covers, and letting go of them.

Zuko took this chance, and tugged the covers off of Toph, making her eep..and then just stood there, jaw dropping.

Toph felt that heat in her cheeks, and tried to crawl away from Zuko, well aware that she was probably making herself look more like a baby in doing so.

While she couldn't see the details, she knew that Roze had used more than one of the thick clothes that passed for diapers in the fire nation, and in fact it was closer to four.

She couldn't see that pink plastic panties were being used, as again, she had no concept of pink, but she could tell that her padded behind was bugling in them.

she also couldn't see the design on her shirt, how it was white with a cute pink heart on it.

She could feel the pacifier hanging around her neck, and the thin cord that held it.

Her hair had been left alone, though her head band had been replaced by a pink one.

"See..Total dork." She said, reaching the railing.

"I think you look cute, like I said before." Zuko said.

"Try that lie once i get my feet on the floor." Toph challenged, pouting.

She barly had time to go into full sulk mode, before Zuko's arms were under her arm pits, picking her up and setting her on the floor, where she stood, legs pushed apart by her diapers and she seemed to be having a little bit of a issue with balance.

"I repeat.I think it looks cute." Zuko said, and Toph could tell, he wasn't lying.

"R-Really?" She asked, then acked, waving her arms around and plopped onto her butt.

"Are you ok?" Zuko asked, rushing over.

"I-I think so.." She sniffled, overcome with feeling..

even though it hadn't really hurt, with the padding in her backside, her eyes started to water and her bottom lip started to tremble.

"Hey hey..it's OK." Zuko said, leaning down and starting to pick her up.

Instinct took over, and she wrapped her arms and her legs around Zuko,and buried her head into his chest, starting to cry.
