Author's note: I guess before we start the only thing I need to say is that this fiction is the result of my overactive imagination. It contains some pretty weird and bizarre situations so if you're not here to be squicked out, you might want to read a different story. As I stated before in the disclaimer, Shadow Raiders and all of the worlds and characters are not my property.
If you're like me, and you like the odd stuff, this is the story for you! I only ask that you do not steal any of the original characters I'm making. Any resemblance of the original characters to a living person is purely coincidential! That, and if it seems to need work, keep in mind that this is a work in progress, and I will be updating and revising things often!

“Cryos to Zera. Come in Lady Zera.” The communicator beeped at him, and Cryos sighed, pressing the button again. “Zera, are you there?” Sighing heavily, Cryos closed his eyes and let his eyes slip shut as his personal Bladewing, Blizzard, cruised along on autopilot. The frosty silver and white design was unlike any other Bladewing on the market. It was half again bigger than the other ships, had four thrusters instead of just two, and the alloy it was made of was the hardest alloy known to planet Ice, Glaciaegis. It was also the most heat resistant material in The Cluster.
“I'm sorry, Father, Pyrus was distracting me,” came the sudden reply, startling him. The com-screen flickered on to reveal Lady Zera, her face devoid of any makeup whatsoever. No surprise there, given that when the camera zoomed out a little, it was revealed that she was quite heavily pregnant. Her eggs, growing inside her, seemed to grow bigger every day, and her skin was positively radiant, a sign that her pregnancy was progressing well despite the frequent bouts of morning sickness, which had only worsened every time she'd tried to wear makeup. Something about the smell of the powders, Cryos supposed. He had heard of such a thing happening before.
The young queen gazing back at him looked very like her mother Xenalia, and even dressed in a similar peacetime fashion. The halter-style white linen dress having an empire waistline and loose and comfortable enough for her egg-swollen middle. She smiled prettily at him, and his heart thumped just a little bit harder in his chest, filled with pride and joy seeing this beautiful woman his little Snowflake had blossomed into. The only difference between Zera and her mother was that her snowy hair had grown over the years and now it cascaded about her face, and flowed about her shoulders in delicate wisps, having started growing after Cryos had put an end to the law that forced everyone to wear their hair short, or shave it all off.
“All is forgiven, my daughter.” Cryos smiled warmly at her. “I was only calling you because I wanted to know what it was you had needed me for.”
“Well...” Lady Zera began, “You know of Graveheart and Jade's children?”
“You mean Obsidia and Alabaster?” He replied. “Yes. I know of them.” He paused, then frowned. “Did something happen to them?”
“Yes, or rather THEY happened to SOMETHING! The Borealis has gone missing and I think the children had something to do with it.” The queen frowned, her dark eyes filled with worry for the young ones. “Father, they are just babies themselves, they... they could be seriously hurt or dead, and I fear what Lady Jade will do if I tell her that her children are gone. She trusted me to look after them as practice for motherhood, and I was too busy kissing Pyrus to notice when they slipped out the door, so they could be anywhere by now!”
“I see. Well, worry no further, I'm on the job. I will find them and bring them back.” Cryos replied, and offered his daughter a reassuring smile. “They are intelligent children, or at least Obsidia is, so I am optimistic when I say that they can't have strayed far from the planet, and I have no doubt in my mind that I'll be able to find them.”
“Thank you Father. You're my hero.” Zera said, softly. A tear of relief falling from the corner of one of her eyes. “I know in my heart that if anyone can find them, it's you. You were always good at finding people who were lost.”
“Your faith means a lot to me, and I will do my best.” Cryos told her. “I swear this to you.”
At that moment, Pyrus came up behind the queen, and placed his hands upon her shoulders, causing Zera to jump a little, then smile at her husband. Smiling once more at Cryos, she bowed her head to him, acknowledging him as her equal, and the with a slight wave, turned off the communicator. Of course, it took a moment to turn off after the command was given, and he was treated to the sight of Pyrus leaning in to give Zera a soft, gentle kiss. He sighed, watching his daughter's frosty hands go up into the man of Fire's thick mane of flames before the screen cut off. It was a tender moment they'd shared, and it brought back so many wonderful memories for Cryos. Ah... Young love.
Letting out a shaky breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding in, he turned his attention back to the task at hand. Find the Rock children before it was too late.

It wasn't very long before flying brought him to the scene of a horrific crash site. The Borealis was totalled, and would have to be scrapped and rebuilt entirely. Zera was not going to like this...
Then again, Jade would like it even less if both of her children were dead.
Manoeuvring the ship's joystick control, he had the Blizzard touch down on the ground near the wreck, and opened the hatch at the back to walk out. Immediately he could see them. Twin sets of footprints in the snow that were leading away from the ship. By the Great Glacier! He hoped the kids hadn't gotten it into their heads to try and go back by themselves! Now genuinely worried, and frightened for the children, Cryos took off at a sprint, feet slapping against the icy surface of the planet as he followed the trail of prints to the point where they ended... at the mouth of a cave. A very dark cave, at that. He couldn't see more then two feet in front of him.
“Uncle Cryos!” A little girl's voice cried, and quite abruptly, he was grabbed around the middle by a sobbing, frightened little girl. Her skin was grey and mottled with streaks of black, her eyes and hair as black as the volcanic glass from which she had been given her name. It was Obsidia. Thank the glacier! The little girl wore one of the many peacetime outfits of Rock. Black sneakers, a black tanktop, black cargo pants, and a plush-looking black jacket. Her hair was in rows of braids, trailing down her back from the nape of her neck.
“Cryos, Alabaster fell. His head is bleeding and he won't wake up!” the girl cried, releasing him and looking up at the man of Ice with frightened eyes that were sparkling with tears, begging for help. “Please, if we don't do something he's going to die!”
“Take me to him.” Cryos said, hurriedly, and gestured at the cave's entrance. Obsidia nodded, and raced on ahead of him as he jogged to keep up to her. Soon, they came across the boy in question, and Cryos threw himself down into a kneel at the boy's side, hurriedly checking for a pulse. It was there. Sluggish, but still steady enough... They had time.
“Obsidia, I need you to hold his head still for me... I am going to heal him with my nanonites.” He said, softly, taking a deep breath. Within a special pouch in the back of his throat, the nanonites readied themselves, pooling at the front, where the air from Cryos' lungs would then carry them out.
“Roger that.” The girl replied, and with gentle hands she turned Alabaster's head so the wound was facing upwards, and watched curiously while carefully keeping her brother in place. She had never seen a nanonite healing before.
Once he was satisfied that Obsidia's hands were holding Alabaster still, but out of the way, Cryos focused on relaxing that little pouch within himself, and exhaled a frosty cloud of the microscopic and, sparkling robots. Each little bot would give the tissues that were damaged a specialized blend of nutrients and growth agents, while at the same time cleaning and disinfecting the wounds as they went. After their task was completed, they'd disintegrate harmlessly into the air, leaving nothing but flawlessly healed skin.
It didn't take very long after the healing for Alabaster to regain consciousness. Soon, the boy gave a low moan, and opened bleary white eyes. White where his sister was black, Alabaster was the first-born of the Rock twins. He wore the same outfit as his sister, exactly the same in fact, except all of HIS clothing was white. His white hair crystals, like Obsidia's, were long, and bent into rows, a process that took HOURS of careful work.
“Tiaka... my head...” The boy muttered, as he slowly sat up and rubbed at the spot where he'd just been healed. Probably a mild concussion, but at least the child was able to move, and swear. When he felt the blood, he pulled his hand down, and muttered under his breath. “By Lord Graveheart's Crown...”
“Alabaster, watch your language!” Obsidia snapped, cuffing the boy upside his already aching head.
“Ow! I'm telling Mom...” Alabaster began, only to be cut off by his sister.
“Yeah, you're going to tell her that it was your brilliant idea to crash a space ship, again! Wait til mom finds out about the trouble you've caused!” The girl folded her arms and scowled at her brother, looking so very like her mother Jade that Cryos couldn't help but to chuckle softly.
“I do believe that the two of you will have some explaining to do to your parents later on...” He said, at last. “...But, if I'm not mistaken Obsidia, you did not have to come along with him and yet you did. That makes you just as guilty as Alabaster is.”
“You're right, Cryos...” Obsidia replied, hanging her head and staring at the ground as if suddenly it were the most interesting thing in The Cluster.
“He always is.” Alabaster added, gesturing at Cryos as he hung his head in shame.
“Well, maybe it seems that way, but you must remember that I have been alive for a much longer time than the both of you, your mother, and your father put together. I have age and experience and I have learned these things that you, as children, must learn yourselves.” Cryos placed a hand on each of their shoulders. “Come now, there is no need to feel so bad... The two of you have obviously learned your lesson, and beyond anything your mother says, I am not here to punish either of you.”
He rose from his spot, and extended a hand to each of the children. Hands that were quickly snatched up as the two fell silent. Nodding to each of them, respecting their decision to be quiet and think about their actions, Cryos led the children back to the Blizzard, where he immediately had them sit down and strap themselves in. With the children safely secured, he set the autopilot to take them home, and opened a hailing frequency to the palace.
“Cryos to Zera.” He called. “Are you still there?”
“No, she's not.” A masculine voice replied. “... but I'll speak with you.”

Graveheart. It was Graveheart, and by the Glacier had the years ever been good to him. If anything, he had only grown better and more handsome with age. Sparkling eyes as blue as sapphires twinkled at him against skin that was mottled with veins of a paler shade of azure. Oh how Cryos loved Graveheart's eyes... So warm and compassionate, and filled with love for all of the people in their shared worlds. Those eyes were only further emphasized by short crystals of hair that were the exact same colour, and yes, those eyes held love even for Cryos.
“Graveheart... It is so good to see you. Such a shame that this isn't a social call.” Cryos replied smoothly, and then wordlessly gestured behind him, where the children sat with their heads bowed. Turning his chair around to face the children, Cryos spoke softly. “Obsidia, Alabaster, what say you?”
“We're sorry, father.” The twins chimed in unison. Their heads bowed even lower, if possible.
“What is it you're apologizing for?” Graveheart asked. “You need to be more specific, kids.”
“Well... I'm sorry for getting one of my stupid ideas, and following through with it without thinking first.” Alabaster replied quietly. “I almost got myself and my sister killed... AGAIN, and I never ever wanna do that again. I realize now that flying a ship without the proper know-how is stupid!”
“I am sorry for not listening to my inner voices, Dad.” Obsidia added. “I should have stayed behind, but because I had to make sure my brother wouldn't get hurt, I followed along with him anyways. I didn't want us to get in trouble or break anything, but obviously we did.”
“Well...” Graveheart paused, let it drag out, and then smiled slowly at the children. “I am grateful that the two of you have come to your senses about the ships, and I am grateful that neither of you were hurt.” He sighed softly, then went on. “I love both of you, and a part of me would die if I found out that either one of you was gone. You kids, and your mother, are my life.”
“We love you too, Dad.” The kids replied, their eyes suddenly filled with tears. “We p-promise not to put ourselves in danger anymore. At least never again like that...”
“Then all is forgiven. I will speak with your mother, and we won't be punishing you today, because I can see clearly that one of you being injured is punishment enough. You will, however, need to stay in your rooms for the night.” Graveheart replied.
“That's more than fair, Dad.” Obsidia replied, and Alabaster nodded his agreement.
“Alright then. I will see the three of you in the hangar.” Graveheart replied, then turned his attention to the tall man of Ice. “Say, uh...Cryos? How about you and I go get a drink at the Moon Over Mayhem later tonight? I'd like to catch up with you.”
“I would love to do some catching up! It's been such a long time since we've gone anywhere, just you and I. It will be just like old times,” Cryos replied. “How about after you've dropped the kids off with Jade, you come back to the hangar and we'll take my new Bladewing over there? I know you've just been dying to see it.” At this, Cryos smirked a little.
“Sweet. I've heard it was big, and fast. Now I'll get to see that for myself!” Graveheart chuckled. “Alright. It's a date. We'll go after I've dropped the kids off with Jade.” Those azure eyes sparkled, and Graveheart flashed him a grin before pressing the end transmission button. “See you later, Cryos. I'm looking forward to seeing you again. Graveheart, out!” A swift salute, and the picture fizzled out as Cryos smiled warmly to himself.
Yes... it was going to be a wonderful reunion. Graveheart was always a good person to have around and to talk to. Always kind and considerate. A good father and a good friend. It was the little things like this, taking the time to visit with old friends, that made it worthwhile to be an everyday hero.
It was always the little things.
