Chapter 1
A pair of sky blue eyes lasciviously peered between the slates of the high, wooden fence, intently focused on the gorgeous blond boy walking side-by-side with that obnoxious red-headed girl on their way home from high school. The owner of the piercing stare waited for the couple to pass before she closed her eyes for a moment and let out a longing sigh that went unheard by the pair.
"KP, do you really think we got a chance at the state title in football this year?" Ron Stoppable asked his now girlfriend and always constant companion.
Kim Possible thought for all of one second before her cheerleader mentality came to the forefront and automatically answered for her. "I think the Mad Dogs are a shoe-in for the Colorado State Championship. The whole team has come together with you at running back, Ron. We're undefeated through the first half of the season and with the way you're playing right now we shouldn't lose a single game!"
"Do you think I might get a scholarship for college?" Ron begged and bounced, dodged and wove around his friend in excitement as she continued to nonchalantly walk home. "That would be badical if I got a scholarship to the college you plan on going to. Then we would be together wherever we end up and we could still hang out."
Kim let out a light chuckle at Ron's enthusiasm. "I thought we had agreed that you were going to follow me to whatever college I attend and find a job so we could live in an apartment after our Summer wedding."
"Yeah but," Ron's good mood fouled a bit and his dance slowed to a steady walk beside his girlfriend, "it'd be better if I got a scholarship so we could attend classes together." He perked back up a bit when another thought seeped into his somewhat addled brain. "Hey hey HEY! Then you could cheer me on just like you do now!"
"Ron," Kim stopped in her walk and turned to her best friend for over fourteen years, a vast majority of her life, "I thought you didn't want to attend college; That you were done with all the homework and books and crab-walking for football practice."
"Homework?" Ron paused and thought for a second before it fully hit him. "CRABWALK!?"
"Yep," Kim clipped as she started walking again. "Just because you'd have a scholarship it doesn't mean that all of the training and exercise and schoolwork would simply stop."
"I never thought about that," Ron muttered in deep thought before he realized Kim had started on her way and he ran to catch up to her. After he raced at top speed to catch up, he slowed by her side to keep pace. "I guess our original plan of me getting a job near campus after the wedding is better."
"I knew you'd see the light," Kim chimed happily. She took his hand and placed a chaste kiss on his cheek as they continued on their way. After a few strides she asked, "Are we still on for the movie marathon tonight after our homework is done?" They stopped in front of Possible house to finish their talk.
"I already got most of my homework done KP," Ron smirked. "I worked on it during my afternoon free period and my down time at practice."
"And Mr. Barkin let you study during practice, why?" Kim begged incredulously.
"Mr. B's seen the improvements in my grades and said if it doesn't affect my game at all," Ron's cheesy grin came out, "he said he's all for it; That my education comes first."
"As it should be," the redhead affirmed with a nod. A sigh of satisfaction came from deep within as she gazed lovingly at her man. "I'm really proud of you Ron. You're not only the star of the team but you're improving your grades now too. Those are two very conspicuous accomplishments."
"Ah, KP," the blond frowned in deep thought, "conspicuous... That's a school word right?"
"Conspicuous..." Kim defined, "outstanding... distinguished... great."
Ron's face lit up in understanding. "Right KP. I'm really conspishhhh-nick. Com-spick-ness. Ah, what you said!"
Kim shook her head in amusement. "Ron, the word is con... Aw, forget it."
"Okay KP," Ron grinned, gave her a peck on the cheek and started to skip backwards toward his house as he finished the conversation. "I just need to stop at my place to tell Mom about our plans for tonight. I'll be right back." He turned and raced to his house a few blocks away.
"I'll have Mom make us some cheesy popcorn!" Kim shouted to the receding blond as she waved to him.
"Thanks KP," Ron waved over his shoulder not looking back.
With a sensual sigh, Kim admired the fine form her boyfriend was becoming before she went into the house to get ready for a night filled with decadent snacks, action filled movies and maybe a little lip locking while she and her beau finished off their homework and chilled out for the evening.
Ron approached his house and noticed no cars were parked in the driveway. "Hmmm, Mom must be out shopping." He jumped the three steps up to the porch and got out his keys. When he stuck the front door key in the lock the door creaked open effortlessly. "Huh, Mom musta forgot to lock up when she left. Probably thought I'd be home soon and left it open for me."
Without another thought Ron entered and headed for the kitchen. "I'll leave Mom a note and stick it on the fridge. But first..." He headed straight for the refrigerator and opened the door.
He didn't hear the pantry door swing open as he rummaged around for a quick snack before he headed off to Kim's house. He didn't hear the soft footsteps the crept up behind him. He didn't even see the handkerchief that swung around his body and covered his face and mouth either. The stinging, acrid odor emitting from the handkerchief did register in his mind just before he collapsed to the floor, knocked out cold.
Rufus was jarred from his afternoon siesta by the sudden fall and impact of his Big Buddy with the floor. He crawled from his pocket home and immediately smelled that the refrigerator door was open, since there was always a big block of cheese sitting on a plate on the lowest shelf. He took one step toward his life's ambition, well his main aim at the moment, before a small square piece of cloth, (a naked mole rat sized handkerchief,) covered his nose.
"The cheese in the fridge is mocking me," Rufus thought to himself. He could see the holes in the wheel of Swiss Cheese form a face that winked and maybe even form an evil smile at him before he too fell silently to the linoleum, out cold, beside his Big Buddy.
