-Author's Notes- Bwahahahah!! Season Three has not yet sucken the Zutara Ship!!
"Hello dear brother." Azula smiled and tilted her head to one side, shooting a painfully sweet smile over to her very confused brother. She was standing on the end of a catwalk like stage amid three dozen unfamiliar faces all wearing nice robes and smiling at him. "and on behalf of all of us here. Welcome home..." she smile at him again and hopped off the end of the stage walking over to him.
Zuko looked around very confused, all these people, all here to welcome him home and he couldn't name any of them. He waited for Azula to walk over to him so he could question her. He'd gotten a note on his bed earlier that said there was a surprise waiting for him in the ball room and when he got here, he found a party all decorated up for his home coming, and filled with people he didn't know welcoming him home. "Azula... what is going on?"
Azula smiled and grabbed him by the arm, not forcefully but in the manner that a loving little sister might take her brother's hand to lead him someplace. "Oh come now Zuko, don't you recognize your own party. We're all here to welcome you home, it's been three years brother. We're all happy to see you." She smiled and started pulling him along through the crowd. "Here let me reintroduce you." She took his arm in hers and started dragging him around through the crowd. "That's counselor Shu's twin daughters Kaya and Maya."
Kaya & Maya chimed in his direction "Welcome home prince Zuko." They batted their eyes at him and curtsied, moving and speaking in unison.
Zuko "Uh... Hi?" He blinked, never remembering meeting twins.
Azula continued leading Zuko through the crowd of people; she stopped at a dark haired young man flirting with a gaggle of giggling girls. "This is Senator Maiyuki's son Izo."
Izo turned away from the girls and bowed to the prince. "Welcome home prince Zuko." He rose and smiled. "You should come over sometime. I could take you out on the town, show you all the places we discovered while you were away." he smirked and clicked his tongue as Azula pulled Zuko along.
Zuko stared back at the quickly vanishing boy as he was tugged along. "Um... sure?" He didn't remember ever knowing anyone named Izo but he talked like they were old friends.
Azula dragged Zuko around introducing him to several other children of the right people before releasing his arm and walking over to the stage again. She hoped up and turned to address the crowd. "Now now. I know we're all happy to see him home again, but what would a party be without entertainment?" She smiled down at the crowd and several people raised their glasses to her.
Katara sat in front of a mirror in a crowded smoke filled room, several other girls; some smoking, surrounded her as they put on make-up and jewelry. She was done up well, a light shade of creamy orange dusted her eyelids, her lips had a strange clear mixture brushed over them to make her lips seems fuller and shinier. She wore a silk outfit, a pair of baggy pants that stopped about mid-calf. Her legs were covered by a see through veil, her feet were bare except for the tinkling golden anklets and Henna markings that decorated her feet, she wore a belly shirt, stopping just below her breasts her hips were adorned with more golden tinkling chains, covered in bells and cymbals. Her hair was back in a traditional fire nation style. Around her neck she wore a fire nation band, her wrists and upper arms covered in glitter and golden bands some were loose and jingled, she stood up once the head dancer summoned her, gesturing for her to prepare herself for the stage. Walking around the crowded back stage she took this last moment to get all her pre-performance jitters out, she walked out onto the stage standing amongst other girls behind the curtain, in her proper position, ready to entertain the young guests that had invaded this palace hall.
Azula clapped to gain the attention of her guests. "The most beautiful and talented belly dancers from across the fire entire fire nation..." She hopped off the side of the stage as the dancers flowed out from back stage. She'd thrown this party because it gave a chance for the children of all the right people to welcome Zuko home, but she decided to also use it as a chance to break up that creepy romance between her brother and Mai... Sure it had been useful in getting him to come home with her, but now it was just disturbing. 'You're beautiful when you hate the world?' Even old Zuzu could do better than that.
Zuko was swept up in the crowd of people welcoming home. He didn't know any of them and some of them were just plain creepy. Some of the girls were acting like they had either slept with him, or wanted to really badly and he couldn't fine Mai. He was practically forced to take a seat at a table about ten feet from the front of the stage. People kept coming by and welcoming him home. He just thanked them and they seemed to leave him alone so he resigned himself to thanking everyone in the room and then finding Mai.
As the curtains were drawn back Katara waited till the stage was flooded with the light of the room in front of it. She was forced to be the center stage princess, as the other more experienced girls put it, because it was her first time performing. The other girls slowly slid out onto the main stage, petals from various trees and flowers showered down around them as they twisted and jingled. Sultry tantric music played as the other girls moved about the stage in a seductive dance that symbolized the epic experience of love making, taking a deep breath and absorbing herself in the music; which was the only thing that would calm her; she moved out. Her hair was speckled with the petals raining down on her as she swayed her hips and moved her feet in graceful circles about the ground before her, her arms swayed about her gently as she mixed her water bending form in with her tantric dancing. The chains about her jingled and glistened in the light as she began to dance the dance of the mistress, an ancient dance she had been taught by the head lady of the troupe.
Zuko had a front row seat to the dancing girls pouring out and circling about the stage. There was something familiar about the one that took center stage. He sat up in his seat and stared at her. Trying to place where he had seen her before. The way she moved occasionally, he could have sworn he saw glimpses of water bending in her dances. But he wasn't really getting a good look at her. People were still greeting him and he had to turn and thank them and maybe make small talk or shake their hands.
Azula walked up behind Zuko's chair. "See something you like Zuzu?" She slid into a chair next to him at his table. Slowly crossing her legs and leaning back in her chair smiling over at Zuko. She smirked. Hopefully, he was already forgetting about Mai.
Katara swayed gracefully, a girl wearing all black with silver chains flowed over to her, they twisted together in a dance of forbidden love making, their naked arms and feet touched and sliding against each other as they danced against each other. She blushed as the other girl slid away from her leaving her in the cold empty space, the other dancers left the stage, leaving her all by herself, her eyes downcast as the music stopped playing, lone flower petals fell around her, brushing against her bare shoulders and chains till they settled on her bare feet. She inhaled deeply, raising her arms up and turned her palm out to face the crowd and suddenly deep loud drums pounded into a slow beat. As they did this she began to jerk and sway her hips causing her to chime and jingle as she bucked and arched her back and hips, her dance was the dance of self love.
Zuko glared over at his sister. "What's all this about Azula, I don't know any of these people, where's Ty Lee, and Mai?" He leaned over the table and thanked yet another person for welcoming him home.
Azula smirked. "Oh theses are just the sons and daughters of the right people. Now that you're back I'm afraid you'll have to endure dull political parties like this more often. I advise you to make some friends among these people though; it makes the parties go faster." She leaned on one hand and pretended to watch the dancing girl. "I hear Maya likes you... Or was it Kaya?" She shrugged "Hmm I doesn't matter I'm sure they'd both sleep with you if you asked."
Zuko wanted to kill his little sister. But more than that he wanted to know how she got away talking about people like this when they were in the room? How hadn't she been exiled? All he did was criticize a war plan. She was openly calling a counselor's daughters sluts. "Where, is, Mai?" he asked resentfully.
Katara continued to sway and dance, the drums picked up and she jerked forward, shaking her hips back and forth till she was sure the chains and cymbals would fly off, she arched her back and fell to her knees, all part of the dance, as she began to crawl towards the edge of the stage, the whole point of this performance was to get the guys hot and bothered, maybe some girls too. She finally raised her eyes to the crowd, they were bright and rimmed in black to bring out the hypnotic blue irises she was blessed with, she moaned softly as the music began to throb in her head. She was trying to get noticed for other reasons as well, like getting closer to Zuko or Azula to find out more about their plans. She stopped crawling towards the edge of the stage, the petals in her hair and on her clothes fell off stage, she slowly swayed her hips as she stood back up, slowly receding to the back stage where a pole was waiting. She briefly wondered how becoming a pole dancer helped saved the world, but put that thought in the back of her head as she got caught up in the music once more.
Zuko’s eyes were pulled from boring holes in his sister by the hypnotic dancing of the girl on the stage. He swore he knew her from somewhere, but he just couldn't place it.
"Oh she wasn't invited. She's already welcomed you home... So I hear." Azula smirked. "Though if it's female company you desire," Azula never looked at her brother, she just absentmindedly watched the dancing girl. "You." She pointed at the girl on the stage. "Come keep my brother company for me. I have some errands to run."
Katara stopped dancing and stared shocked at Azula, in the instant she stopped dancing the music changed and other dancing girls came out quickly, swirling about to distract others from the fact that the princess of the center stage was no longer dancing. The black clad girl grabbed her by the arm gently and led her off to the side of the stage smiling encouragingly at her and shoving her towards Zuko. Once her feet touched the cold ground of off stage, she walked slowly and nervously towards Zuko, trying to get around the crowd.
"Wh-what? Azula?" Zuko tried to lean over to Azula but as if taking cues from her the moment she mentioned leaving he found himself swamped with more people welcoming him home than he could handle.
Azula stood up out of her chair. She walked briefly over to the dancing girl she'd virtually plucked from the stage, the crowd parting for her as she was the hostess and the princess. She grabbed the dancing girl by the arm and practically dragged her back over to Zuko, and forced her into the chair she had been sitting in. "Stay here for a while dear, I'll be right back. Until then, just keep my brother company for me would you?" She smirked and disappeared into the crowd.
Katara was dragged unceremoniously by Azula, she tried not to jerk her arm out of her grip for the disgust and hate she felt towards the other girl was almost overwhelming, but she endured it and sat in the seat she was told to, she side glanced at Zuko and looked around at the people bogging him in.
Zuko was quite quickly learning how to shake hands with two people at once and thank them two at a time. He was moving through the people his sister had swarmed him with, but not fast enough to catch his sister before she left. He sat there a little annoyed.
Katara also sat in silence she didn't know how to go about this, so instead of sitting in silence she stood up, and walked around in front of Zuko, effectively blocking the people who were on their way to shaking his hand, in a small timid voice she spoke to him " Sire?"
Zuko blinked up at her. "Hmm? Yes?" He looked over at her. "Yes?" She really did look familiar but he just couldn’t place where he’d seen this dancer before, but he was relieved that she had stopped the tide of diplomatic children.
Katara smiled at him kindly, though inside she wanted nothing more then to rip his head off. "It is very crowded; do you wish for something, a beverage perhaps, or something to make the wear of greeting these people more bearable?"
"Hmm... no that's alright, you don't have to get me anything." Zuko shook someone's hand as they reached around his side. "I'm quite alright... but tell me, have we met some place before?"
Katara sat back down “no, I don't believe we have Sire, I am but a humble dancer, and this is the first time I have been graced with the presence of royalty"
"Are you certain? I could have sworn..." Zuko looked her up and down, though since he was sitting and she was standing he got a good look over her scantly clad body.
Katara shook her head one more time as she sat down, folding her hands in her lap and resting; she looked about the crowd and wondered about how this plan was going to work.
Zuko continued to thank various people for their kind thoughts as they slowly filed through greeting him. "You know she's not coming back."
Katara turned and looked at him. “I assumed as much” She played with the delicate chains adorning her wrists. “May I leave your company then; my troupe leader may get angry with me if I stay away to long.”
Zuko waved her away. He was addressing her like she was a servant, and sort of half ignoring her.
Katara nodded and stood, bowing to him as she walked back to the stage which was now empty and being swept off , she climbed onto the stage and sighed, her heart was racing a mile an hour, she was glad that Zuko hadn't recognized her so early into her sneaking into the palace.
Zuko continued to thank people absentmindedly. He could have sworn that he'd met that dancing girl someplace before, but then again she was a dancer he may have seen her dancing some place…
Katara was back stage, get chewed out by the troupe leader, she ranted on and on about how their line of work was honorable and how they weren't arm candy for anyone, she merely nodded at the angry older woman.
It seemed Zuko had finally thanked everyone in the room. He was finally able to just sit peacefully. One of the wandering waiters managed to get through the crowd and give him a cup of sparkling lemowi juice and some fire flakes. He sipped his drink but didn't touch his flakes; they reminded him of Mai... He looked around looking for someway to skip out but he suspected Azula had ordered the guards to keep him there till the end of the party.
Katara wasn't allowed to get out of her clothes, the other girls begged the troupe leader to allow them out into the party, she finally agreed and the black clad girl dragged the tired water bender out into the crowd, the girls started mingling and flirting with the well connected boys, the black clad one hung on to Katara, their arms intertwined they made their way towards Zuko again just because the other girl swore he couldn't take his eyes off of Katara.
Zuko sipped his drink and glared at the small dish of fire flakes on the table in front of him. This party was all one big evil plan by his sister, and she hadn't even invited his girlfriend.
Katara struggled against the giggling girl as she shoved her towards Zuko, she stumbled a bit and managed to dart away before he could have really seen her, the black clad girl pouted and told her she'd leave her alone for now and left. Katara eyed Zuko angrily, hiding between a few couples chatting away, she faced towards the prince and twirling her fingers started bending his drink so that it sloshed violently in his cup.
Zuko decided not to waist the fire flakes and reached for a handful, slowly popping them into his mouth one at a time.
Kaya & Maya walked up on one side of Zuko. "Hi prince Zuko..." They curtsied to him again and batted their eyes at him. It was slightly creepy how they were able to do virtually everything at the same time. “May we sit with you?”
"Uh... sure?" Zuko munched lightly on his fire flakes and sipped his drink as the two settled in on his left.
Katara began to slosh the drink even more; she was bent on ruining his evening. She twirled her fingers about, looking around to see if anyone had seen her, once she was certain no one was she made the liquid in his cup break the glass.
"Ack." Zuko jumped slightly as his cup exploded in his hand and he got lemowi juice all over him. "Uhg." He stood up; he figured that he'd just cracked the cup with his nervous clutching.
Kaya & Maya "Oh, prince Zuko!" They stood up and practically adhered themselves to his pants legs dabbing at the juice with their napkins and forcing him back down into his chair.
Zuko chortled "Ack, no really, it's alright, I can handle it. Please, just, g-get off." He couldn't stand up with the two fussing over him and he couldn't find a social acceptable place for his hands while the two girls bent over either side of him.
Katara felt a grin spread across her face, she had got her evil out and looking about she headed for the exit door, even if there were guards she could easily slip by them.
"Please, get off, I'll just go change. So if you'll excuse me..." Zuko finally had a reason to get out of this party. He should have though of smashing that cup earlier. He managed to stand up and get around the twin girls who were fussing with each other talking about him without his pants. He headed for the door.
Katara slid through the slightly opened door and out into the darkened hall way, it was large and scary for her, not knowing where she was. She looked about nervously then saw a balcony, she sighed in content nervousness as she glimpsed the slivered moon. She walked to the balcony and leaned against the railing, staring out into the night sky.
Zuko slipped out of a door managing to get past the guards with the same excuse he'd used to save him from the twins. Then he noticed something. A dancer girl sneaking around the halls. He smirked as it hit him where he'd seen that girl before; he'd just needed to see her sneaking around. He smirked crossing his arms behind his back and strutting over to her. "And what are you doing out here dancer girl?"
Katara jerked and turned, looking startled as the moon illuminated the balcony she was on. "o-oh Sire you startled me.” She placed a hand on her chest and breathed out “I was simply admiring the beautiful night sky"
Zuko smirked strutting over to her side. "hmm yes... I suppose you would enjoy the moon lit night." He smirked. "Especially being a water bender..."
Katara stared at him blankly. “Sire? What ever are you talking about?"
"I recognize you, water bender girl." Zuko took a step toward her.
Katara did not falter nor step back "I don't understand Sire. I’m not a water bender...don't they only live in the poles?" She looked genuinely confused.
"Hmm..." Zuko took a step back from her, crossing his arms behind him. "Hmm, well... what was your name? Katara?"
Katara shook her head. “No Sire my name is Ohu.” She bowed to him slightly. "I apologize if I disappointed you."
"Hmm..." Zuko leaned in and eyed her really giving her a good look over.
Katara looked nervous “Sire?"
Zuko kept giving her the eye. He knew she had to break, he was certain of her identity.
Katara took a step back and eyed him back. “Your making me nervous Sire, do I really look like this girl you mistook me for?"
"Hmm..." Zuko smirked. "Yes you do... Come walk with me." He smirked and turned walking down the hall.
Katara walked after him “was she a friend of yours Sire?"
"Not really... tell me. What do you know of the Avatar?"
Katara tapped a finger to her chin not missing a beat. "I know that you defeated him at Ba Sing Sei and that he was a great threat to the Fire Nation"
"What would you say if I suspect that he maybe alive?" Zuko strolled slowly down the hall.
Katara gasped. “But Sire!! If you say such things it will bring shame to you!!" She looked shocked and horrified.
"Don't worry. I have taken steps to remove the Avatar." Zuko smirked, totally implying that he didn't suspect the Avatar to live much longer. "Actually I have a tip as to his whereabouts at this very moment.”
Katara nodded. "Truly? Sire I am afraid I am not much for war and such talk, I am honored you would speak to me on these terms but I could not appreciate such information" She bowed low to him and stopped walking, she bowed mainly because she couldn’t hide the look of anger that had crossed her face and she was having trouble not jumping him and punching his smug face in.
Zuko smirked looking back at her. "Please, walk with me just a bit longer. If the avatar is near, it might not be safe to wander the streets tonight. He travels with quite an unseemly crowd.”
Katara nodded and continued to walk. "Yes Sire, I appreciate your company"
"Well I can't allow a delicate defenseless girl as yourself to wander alone on a dangerous night. You'd be perfect prey for the ruffians that travel with the Avatar. I shiver to think of what that cold hearted mongrel of a warrior would do to one as tender and helpless as you. Or that earth bender girl..." Zuko was totally pushing her buttons.
Katara kept a cool facade and got closer to him "Sire please, you're scaring me"
Zuko took a step closer to her and threw an arm over her shoulders. "Oh don't worry, I've faced them before, and though they have escaped a number of times. They have never bested me in battle."
Katara nearly snapped but regained herself mentally and leaned against him. “you must have been very brave, but was it not scary to face so evil and fearsome a foe?" She thought of Aang and Sokka and how dumb they could be and nearly laughed.
"Oh, they aren't as horrible as they sound. So long as you know how to handle them. You simple have to show them who's boss." Zuko smirked and hugged her closer to him as they walked.
Katara nodded. "You are far braver then me, I cannot bend, it must be wonderful." She sighed and closed her eyes, walking with him was getting on her nerves.
"Oh, it has its ups and downs." Zuko smirked breathing some steaming hot air down her shirt as he leaned over her.
Katara blushed and moved her hands to her chest "Sire!!"
"Hmm?" Zuko looked at her. "Oh, sorry. Some times it's hard to control."
Katara stared up at him with a mystified look. "I understand Sire, but please try” She smiled and hugged her chest a bit more.
Zuko kept his arm thrown over her as he walked toward his room. "Would you care to stop by while I change?"
Katara blushed. "If you would be willing to suffer my presence.” She looked at her feet and smiled meekly.
"Oh I'd actually quite enjoy it." Zuko smirked at her and stopped at his door.
Katara nodded "Then I would as well Sire."
-Author's Other note- Oh yeah, it's not finished yet, there will be more to come, and don't you forget to review , or I'll sick Azula on you.
