She stood there.
Frozen.
Her hand still on the knob.
Her mouth was wide open.
Her aqua eyes wide open with shock.
Jazz knew that her brother had decided to separate from his ghost half a while back so that he could get back to a normal life while Phantom, as he liked to be called, would take care of the town.
She knew that he and Danny had become good friends very quickly, and would sometimes walk in when they were playing video games in his room. And, for a ghost, Phantom was pretty good at it.
That’s when it started. Danny’s behavior seemed to change. He seemed more tense, and secretive, like he was hiding something. Not even Sam or Tucker could figure it out. And he always seemed to be in a hurry. He’d burst through the door and race up to his room. He wouldn’t come down for hours.
Jazz summed up the courage to ask Phantom about it. For some reason, Jazz seemed to be scared of him, she didn’t know why; she knew he wouldn’t hurt her. And yet, she still feared him. But when she asked him, he got a look of fear in his eyes. The same look Danny got when she asked him about it. He said he didn’t know anything, yet she knew that he knew something.
She lay in her bed, staring up at the ceiling. She wanted to know what it was that Danny was hiding. She remembered back to a couple of months ago, when his behavior changed the first time. Always running off, always tense, jumpy, and a little bit stubborn. Then she found out it was because he had just gotten ghost powers. When she revealed that she had known, he promised that from then on, he would tell her everything.
And he did. He told about his ghost powers, he told her about his enemies, he told her how much he wanted a normal life, he told about his decision, and he told her when he separated from Phantom. But now, he wasn’t telling her anything, and she felt hurt. He could trust her with everything else, but he couldn’t trust her with this. She looked at her clock. The digital numbers read 1:30 am. She knew it was early, but it was the perfect time to ask him. She crawled out of bed and made her way to the door.
She stood in front of Danny’s door, taking a second to look at all the pictures on his door, which ranged from space, to Nickelback, to Yu-Gi-Oh, and so on. She softly knocked on his door, but got know response. She knocked again, still nothing. So she took a deep breath and opened the door, not knowing what awaited her on the other side
