Chapter 1
Lill insisted she pack her own bag. Something her mother didn’t have much of a problem with. She was proud of her daughters growing independence, her little girl was growing up.
Lill was going away for two weeks on a school trip to an adventure camp where they would learn to build rafts, enjoy canoeing, rock climbing, abseiling and treks through ten acres of wood land. And the best part is that Lill would be able to do all of this and still get back in time for the traditional family vacation.
Lill pulled her bag shut, the zip straining in protest against the sheer mass of objects inside. Slowly but surely the bag was forced to a close. Lill grabbed the strap and heaved it over her shoulder there was a momentary stagger, but she regained her balance quickly.
With the huge bag bashing the back of her legs, threatening to throw her off her feet Lill descended the stairs. Her mum Bettie was waiting with a camera in her hand and a smile on her face. “That’s my girl.” She said proudly. Before Lill could protest Bettie snapped a picture with the camera. “Mom.” She said in protest. Bettie laughed heartily and put the camera down. “Ah c’mon Lill, let your old mom make a fuss before yah leave.” She said in her loud and lively voice. Lill sighed and nodded, her mother wasn’t the type to take no for an answer. “You need a ride?” Bettie asked. Lill put her bag onto the floor and shook her head while she put on a little sun block. “No, it’s alright, Kimi said her dad would take us.” She commented as she pulled the bag back over her shoulder. Bettie’s smile wavered slightly, but managed to stay on her face. “Alright.” She said sounding disappointed. “I’ll come with. I could do with some catching up with Chaz.”
Lill had a strange look on her face. Bettie didn’t recognize it, but it had hidden disappointment. The kind of look you put on when you get a terrible gift for Christmas, but didn’t want the giver to know you don’t like it. The strained smile and slightly high voice. But if you look at the eye you will see the true feelings. Lill wanted to travel to the Finster home alone so she could have a private conversation with Kimi.

Bettie and Chaz went to the kitchen to talk over a cup of coffee, leaving Lill and Kimi to talk alone. Chuckie was over at Tommy’s home. Kimi looked at the kitchen door, making sure that their parents wouldn’t overhear them. “You’re still going to go through with this?” Kimi asked in a hushed voice. Lill nodded her head. “I have to try Kimi, who knows when an opportunity like this will come up again.” “But if you get caught, you’ll be in a world of trouble. You’d be grounded until your twenty. At least.” Kimi said, sounding desperate but still kept her voice low. Lill looked at the kitchen door and too her friend. “I know, I know. But this is something I’ve dreamed of for years. You know I have.”
Kimi nodded. “But in that dream you didn’t trick everyone you know and travel across the state line.” She said. Lill nodded in agreement. “Things change. The opportunity is there and I’m going to take it or get grounded trying.” “If you get caught, you know you won’t be able to lie your way out, you’d have to tell your mum the truth.”
Bettie walked back into the room, smiling brightly with Chaz right behind her. “If that’s what happens then so be it.” Lill said quietly. Bettie stood by her daughter and Lill got to her feet. “Alright Lill. I’ve got to get going.” She wrapped her arms around Lill and gave her a powerful bear hug. Lill groaned as she was pressed into her mother’s chest and vanished into the oblivion of Betties large breasts. “You take good care Lill, I’ll see you in a few weeks.” The words were deeply muffled, but Lill managed to pick up the words.
The she was suddenly release and light and fresh air came rushing back. Lill fell limply onto the sofa behind her and Bettie looked over to Kimi. “Keep an eye on her Kimi.” She said seriously and Kimi nodded her head without a second of hesitation. “I’ll do my best.” She said staring intensely at Lill. Lill shrugged her shoulders and smiled sheepishly.

A few hours later Lill and Kimi were standing outside their school as Chaz helped unload their bags from the car. Nearby a group of their fellow pupils were being checked off a list by one of the four teachers who would be accompanying the pupils to the camp site where they would spend the next two weeks doing many different activities.
Chaz hugged Kimi and, despite her knowledge that she was in full view of everyone, Kimi sacrificed her tiny cool reputation and returned the hug. “Have a good time Kimi. I’ll see you soon.” He said quietly then returned to his car and left Kimi and Lill to see to themselves.
As soon as his car was out of sight Lill grabbed her bag and tossed it over her shoulder. “You know what you need to do for me?” She asked Kimi. Kimi grabbed her own bag and they made their way over to the waiting teacher. Te other kids were beginning to make their way onto the bus. “Every week, give or take a day or two, send an email to your mum, signing your name. I’ll tell her some of the things you’re doing, or technically what I’m doing. She thinks you’re at the camp while you off doing whatever it is people like you do without your clothes on.”
It had been such a simple plan, it had come to Lill in the middle of the night and if it worked she would have two weeks to truly be herself. When Lill heard of the trip organized by the school she had signed up for it immediately. Two weeks in the middle of the countryside, rock climbing, canoeing, raft building and other types of activities. Then one night, just over a week before the trip Lill had woken up in the middle of the night after a strange dream, which provided a flash of inspiration. In just a few hours it became an obsession and she had spent the rest of the night thinking about how to make that dream a reality.
It began with a phone call, Lill called up the school pretending to be her mother and using this guise, Lill cancelled her place on the journey. The deposit money was refunded to Lill. The check was handed back to Lill but Lill cashed it. The school gave the money back, they considered the matter closed. The money went out of Bettie’s account, she thought the school had taken it and Lill was going on the trip. Lill needed the cash.
Lill was quick to enlist the help of Kimi, she knew she could trust Kimi with this secret. Kimi would do her part while she was away at the camp to maintain the illusion Lill was away with the school.
What was the reason for this complicated plan? What was the dream that Lill wanted desperately to make a reality that she would lie to everyone she knew and steal money from her mother?
Lill was a closet nudist. She was a nudist, but had never been to a nudist beach, camp, resort or anything else with nudist in the title. Nor had she told her family of her preference. The only people that knew were Kimi Finster and Suzy Carmichael, the two of her friends that she trusted the most with her secret. They had kept it for about six months now, which is how Lill knew that Kimi could be trusted with keeping her plan secret.
While her family thought she was away at camp, Lill would travel on a bus, into another state and travel to a beach, not just any beach. Have you guessed it? A nudist beach. Lill, and the tent she had packed into her bag. (it’s amazing how much space can be saved when you pack only a couple of pairs of clothes.) She would spend the next two weeks camping on this, doing what she had always dreamed of doing. A nudist camping trip, with the added bonus of camping on an actual nudist beach.

Lill watched the yellow bus drive away, Kimi was waving and Lill waved in return. Kimi would do what Lill asked, she trusted her friend. When the bus turned a corner and went out of sight Lill smiled and tossed her bag over her shoulder. Butterflies were flapping around doing the tango in her stomach and she was sure that if she had eaten anything that day, it would now be decorating the sidewalk with it. Taking a deep breath Lill put her best foot forward and walked off toward the bus station.
