Disclaimer: I do not own Gargoyles/Disney related but the original character, Eve Anderson, is from my own mind and is not a character of Disney. I get no pay and am only doing this for fun |
Sorry for the long wait. Cancer made it way back into my family's life and now I have 2 people I know battling it. I have been writing, although sometimes it's a scene here and there. I hope to be writing more soon as it's the only real outlet I have that keeps me from going nutty at the moment. Thanks everyone for reading, and as always, please review! it keeps me going!
Eve stills her body, listening intently as she’s curled up next to Owen on the bed. A light tapping sounds again, setting her nerves on high alert. She opens one eye, seeing movement by the balcony door. She gently nudges Owen, seeing his eyes flash open. She glances towards the balcony and he turns his head enough to see.“Stay here.” He murmurs, slowly slipping out from under the covers.
She sits up, watching him pad silently to the door. He stares out a frown sliding over his features. Sighing softly, he opens the door and waves someone inside. A tall, dark form with wings steps into the room. Eve’s hands begin to tingle, magic starting to gather around her fingertips.
“Are you the young queen?” The gargoyle whispers into the darkened room.
“I am.” Eve glances at Owen, seeing him watching the gargoyle closely.
“I am a friend of Goliath’s.” He bows low to her. “I was charged with bringing you safely to the airport.”
Owen steps around him, slipping an arm around Eve. “How are we to know that Goliath sent you?”
“He said to tell you no more flying by Elisa’s at night.” The gargoyle frowns. “I do not understand what this means.”
Eve grins. “We do.” She lifts her phone, calling Xander. “Xander will have to move everything to the plane.”
“It will be moved before he gets here.” Owen pulls their bags out of the closet. “I am allowed to do something in protection of you and the babies.”
“Babies?” The gargoyle stares at them in disbelief.
“Twins.” Eve pulls her hair up into a bun as Owen changes to Puck. She eyes him as the bags disappear. “You know I’m still not that great at flying.”
“My Dear, you will do no magic of any kind.” He narrows his eyes at her. “I will not have you passing out again.”
Xander appears in the room, looking disheveled. “What’s going on?”
“We’ll tell you after we leave.” Eve crosses her arms over her chest. “If I’m not using magic, how do you expect me to leave then? Walk out?”
“I will take you.” The gargoyle scoops her up in his arms, causing her to nearly scream in surprise. “There is no need to endanger you.”
He steps out onto the balcony, leaping off before anyone can object. Puck and Xander race after him, letting him lead the way through the city. He pulls up near the airport, landing on a nearby roof. Puck frowns as he watches several men trying to break into their jet.
“Uncle, I don’t think we’re leaving.” Xander tries to hide in a darkened spot so he cannot be seen.
“We’re leaving.” He places a glamour around them so they cannot be seen. “But it would seem it won’t be happening tonight.” He holds up a hand as Eve opens her mouth to protest. “I know we have traveled without a jet before over distances but I can’t risk it in your condition. I am not sure what the effect would be on you since your episode the other day.”
Eve sighs, leaning against a metal rack. “Ok. I’ll give this time. So what do we do now?”
“Do you have a safe place just outside the city we can stay?” He tilts his head towards the gargoyle.
“It is nearly dawn.” He glances up at the sky, frowning. “I would have to take you back to our temple. The monks there will keep you safe.”
Xander’s frown deepens. “Monks?”
“Buddhist.” Puck smirks. “We will be fine as long as we come in peacefully and do not use magic.”
“As you say.” The Gargoyle nods to him. “I will take you to just outside the gates. You will have to walk from there.”
Eve steps up, sliding her arms around the gargoyles neck. “Then let’s get moving before we run out of time and leave you exposed.”
He gently lifts her into his arms again, leaping off the roof and taking wing, gliding away from the swarms of men around the jet. Puck and Xander quickly follow, not sparing a glance behind them in their haste.
They set down just outside of a small temple set in the side of a hill. As soon as Eve’s feet touch the ground, the gargoyle lifts away again. She watches him as he disappears just as the sun barely starts to lighten the sky. Puck glances around them, noticing movement near the windows. He changes to Owen and touches Eve’s hand.“We need to go.” He nods towards the temples doors, which have begun to open.
Eve steels herself as she leads them to the temple. Several monks stand just inside the door, watching them in interest. Only one steps towards them as they get closer. “Welcome, travelers.”
Owen steps closer to Eve, eyeing the monks. “Thank you for your welcome. We are seeking lodging for a day or two.”
The monk glances behind him. “We saw how you arrived. Our friends only bring travelers here if they are in danger. Will this danger follow you here?”
Owen starts to respond but Eve lays a gentle hand on his arm. “We cannot be sure but we hope not. We do not want to bring trouble to your door. All I ask is that you give us a few moments of rest before we move on.” She lightly strokes her now beginning to show bump. “I must take care of my children.”
A slight movement from Eve’s neck catches the monk’s attention. His eyes narrow slightly, stepping closer to see better as her necklace slowly moves. A head appears above her neckline, slight smoke drifting from its jaws as it yawns. The monk gasps, slowly lowering to his knees, bowing low to her. “Benten, please take refuge in our humble palace.”
Eve reaches up, her hand feeling the scales of the dragon’s head as it peeks through the top of her shirt. She frowns, glancing at Owen and Xander. “I am not sure who this Benten is you are talking of.”
“You carry a sacred dragon.” He mumbles, the other monks sinking into a low bow as well as they see the dragon. “Only Benten or someone blessed by her could possess a sacred one as you do.”
”I am not sure she would consider it me possessing her.” Eve chuckles nervously. “I sometimes think it is the other way around.”
“Please, come in.” He stands, still bowing low to her. “We will get you refreshment as you rest.”
“Ok.” Eve bites at her lip as she follows them inside, uneasy at their change in behavior.
Owen’s eyes slowly open. He can feel the cool sheets next to him, realizing they should be full of Eve’s warm body. He glances around, finally seeing her sitting by a window. A deep frown ages her face, darkness making her skin look more wrinkled. He sits up, sighing softly. “What’s wrong?”“We’ve been here three days and still no word.” She runs a nervous hand through her hair. “Something is wrong. I can feel it. We need to leave now.”
He slides out of bed, pulling on a robe. “Are you sure it’s not paranoia from the last time we were in a situation like this?” He walks over and begins gently brushing her hair with his fingers.
“I don’t know.” Her body is rigid under his hands. “I just feel like something is very off and we need to leave.”
He stops, watching her closely for a moment. “Ok. I’ll get dressed and talk to Xander.”
She leans into his side, closing her eyes. “I’m sorry to be like this.”
“Eve, I trust you for a reason.” He kisses her head softly. “You haven’t been wrong yet.”
“Thanks for believing me.” She smiles, leaning away so he can get dressed.
Xander frowns as he watches several monks rush past them in the dark. “Why are they so alarmed?”
“I was told that I have dragon sense.” Eve glances over her shoulder as Owen comes closer. “Apparently word just came that there is a small armed band heading this way. They have never been bothered by an armed force in the last 100 yrs and it’s making them very upset.”
A monk follows close on Owen’s heels, gesturing towards a small door nearby. “They are wanting us to go through the tunnels to safety.”
“Tunnels?” Eve narrows her eyes. “Where are they supposed to go?”
“It’s 6 miles underground to the coast.” Owen rubs his chin. “They have not been in them for years but they assure me they are clear.”
Pounding comes from the gates, sending more monks scurrying. “It’s too late.” Eve shoves Xander towards the door. “Get out of here through the tunnels as far as you can go and then transport yourself home. Bring back the cavalry.”
“What about you?” Xander stares at her in shock.
“I’ve got this.” Her hands begin to glow, her body relaxing as magic flows around her. “Get out of here.”
Xander runs for the door, ducking inside as magic flows over it and covers it in vines. Owen grabs her arm, pulling her away. He narrows his eyes, not recognizing the feel of the magic as the monk begins to chatter about not using magic because it can be sniffed out.
“Get high in that tree.” She pushes Owen away. “Don’t let them see you.”
“What are you going to do?” Fear spikes through him as the gates start to open.
“Don’t worry.” She glances at him, her body starting to fade from his view. “They won’t find me.”
He turns, running to the nearest tree and climbing it as the gates stop. Eve slowly steps backward, feeling the magic roll through her. She can feel every living thing near her, every blade of grass and leaf on the trees. Men rush into the main yard, guns out and dogs barking. The monks stop them, arms waving and indignant at the intrusion. The leader barks out an order sending the men out among the monks.
Her hands touch wood behind her, leaning her back against the tree Owen had climbed. She can feel him hiding high above her, watching her every move. Her skin blends into the colors of the bark and leaves, hiding her from the men as the roam closer. One dog pulls his handler closer, sniffing out the trail Owen had left. It stops at her feet, smelling all around her. She glares down at it, gently blowing her breath out towards it. The dog looks around, whining softly. With a lunge, it pulls its handler across the yard.
Owen closes his eyes, feeling the magic running through her. His frown deepens as he realizes the magic doesn’t feel like Fae magic. His eyes flash open as he feels it suddenly surge through her with her anger. The men holding the guns point them at the monks, yelling. Eve narrows her eyes, her hand slightly lifting from her side. As the bullets begin to fly, she shields the monks so that the bullets do not touch them and sends them to sleep so that they fall as if they were shot. Owen nearly climbs down as he watches the men gather at the gate. Only Eve’s quick whisper to stay keeps him there.
Eve waits until she can feel the men are far enough away before she steps away from the tree, dropping the camouflage. “We need to wake them and get them out of here before they come back.”
“Won’t they come looking for them once they realize they aren’t dead?” Owen climbs down and helps her start to wake the monks.
“Perhaps.” The magic fades from her. “I’m not sticking around to find out. We need to find somewhere safer until Xander gets back.”
“Agreed.” Owen reaches out and shakes another monk awake.
Owen tosses another rock into the crashing waves. Eve rubs her hands over her arms, trying to calm her nervousness as she stares out over the beach. The monks gather close to the mouth of a small cave, talking softly. Owen suddenly chuckles, the answer finally coming to him.Eve glances over at him. “What’s so funny?”
“Earth magic.” He shakes his head. “I should have seen it sooner. It’s so rare for a human to have it and has not been recorded in centuries.”
Her eyebrows draw down. “I don’t follow. What are you talking about?”
“You, My Dear.” He pulls her into his arms, rubbing them softly. “You are an Earth Mage and a strong one at that.” He laughs as she frowns in even more confusion. “You could see magic but couldn’t use it. Then a few hours ago you used magic that had nothing to do with the talismans or me. You used magic older than the Fae.”
Eve stills next to him. “I used what?”
“Earth magic, Eve.” His grins widens. “You really had no idea.” He kisses her forehead. “It explains why you could pick up magic so well and why the farm is so well defended.” He chuckles softly, leading her to a rock to sit on. “It also explains why the concepts I try to explain seem foreign to you. Both magics are so different that it is hard sometimes to understand them both.”
“So I’m some two headed monster now?” She closes her eyes, tired suddenly.
“Far from it, My Dear.” He curls her body against his. “You are wonderful. Never doubt it.” He sighs softly. “I just hope Xander got out before everything went south.”
“Me too.” She leans her head on his shoulder.
Eve tries to bury her head deeper into Owen’s shoulder, the whirling sound pulling her from her desperately needed sleep. She feels Owen stiffen next to her. Her eyes fly open, scanning the horizon.“Is that sound what I think it is?” She whispers.
“Yes.” Owen slides out from under her head. “Stay here. I’ll see if I can identify it before we come out of cover.”
She watches him as he climbs to the edge of the bushes near the ledge they were sleeping on. He looks out, his eyes scanning the sky. A helio slowly cruises the coastline, crossing back when it passes near them. It slows more, circling the beach below them. Eve joins Owen, watching intently.
It finally lands, two people jumping out and scanning the beach. Eve smiles when she hears a familiar voice yell “Eve! Owen! I know you’re there! Come on! We need to go!” Xander stares up at them.
“Shall we, My Dear?’ Owen holds out a hand to her.
“There’s no place like home, Toto.” She winks at him and follows him down to the beach.
Owen stares at his computer screen, his fingers lightly tapping on the desk. A frown mars his face, his eyes never moving although they do not register the words in front of them. David leans against the doorframe, watching his friend with concern.
“If you stare at it any longer, it might start to do tricks.” David sighs and steps into the office.
Startled, Owen finally glances away from the screen. “I did not hear you come in.”
“Well that’s obvious.” David settles into a chair. “So what’s eating you? You’ve been staring at the same thing for over 20 mins.”
Owens leans back in his chair and rubs his eyes. “It has been 3 weeks since we returned and Eve is still being very quiet. I can feel her thinking about something but the emotions are so locked down that all I get are bare hints. She comes to our rooms, eats, and goes straight to bed. When I join her, she is sound asleep.”
“She’s carrying twins. Don’t you think that might take the energy out of her?” David lifts one eyebrow at him.
“I would agree with you but she is barely speaking to me as well.” Owen closes his eyes and rolls his shoulders.
“She blames you for what happened?” David frowns.
“I don’t know.” He opens his eyes and glances out the window. “I wish I did.”
“I’ll talk to Fox. She’ll find out.” David stands, walking over to lay a gentle hand on his friend’s shoulder. “Take this weekend off and take her somewhere restful. Maybe she’ll open up.”
“I will inform her we won’t be working.” Owen watches David leave before switching off the computer.
Eve rubs at her eyes again, hoping the screen will come back into focus when she opens her eyes. She hears her door softly close and sighs. “Whatever it is, I didn’t do it.”“Are you sure?” Fox chuckles as she sits down and eyes her friend. “I’m sure I can stage it to look like you did.”
Eve smiles wearily and opens her eyes. “Even if you did I wouldn’t have the energy to argue with you over it.”
“You look like hell.” Fox frowns as she notices how pale Eve is.
“I feel like hell.” Eve winches as she sits up straight. “My back is aching which is making it hard for me to sleep all night. My feet hurt, which is why I haven’t gotten up from my desk and my shoes are off. My eyes are so tired I swear the screen is swimming. I can feel the energy building up in me and I can only let it out in little doses in the solarium, which only gives some relief.”
“Anything else you aren’t telling me?” Fox’s eyes narrow as she takes Eve in.
“My clothes I just bought?” She stands up and sighs as she waves at them. “Not fitting anymore. They are already getting tight and uncomfortable. I’m about to go buy a Mumu until this is over.”
Fox smiles and holds out a hand as she stands. “Let’s go take care of what we can. I can’t make you any less pregnant but I understand how everything else can make it worse.”
“I don’t want to go anywhere.” Eve pouts as she walks over to Fox. “I’m EXHAUSTED!”
“Then we will take care of that first.” Fox takes her arm and drapes it over hers. “I can’t have you falling over with lack of sleep when you should be glowing.”
Eve sighs as they step into another furniture store. “I’m not sure we are ever going to find what I need.”A tall, dark haired gentleman smiles at her as they come closer. “And what exactly is it you need?”
“My friend here is very pregnant with twins.” Fox’s grin widens as his eyebrows shoot up. “I am trying to find something to help her with her aching feet and back.”
“Chaise lounge.” He winks at her. “I have several to choose from and have had several women say they are the best for aching feet and back.”
“Then lead the way!” Fox pulls Eve along as Eve groans.
Eve stares at the room full of different types of chaises. Fox and the salesman talk quietly and animatedly as they discuss which one has the best ratings. Eve finally finds one that has the back tall and leaned back while the foot rest is slightly elevated. She walks over, frowning at the way her legs feel like rubber. She settles down onto the chaise with a great heaving sigh, her back and legs easing for the first time in weeks. Her eyes flutter closed, only planning on staying there until Fox is done talking.Fox glances around, realizing she had not seeing Eve in over 20 minutes. The salesman chuckles, pointing at a chaise towards the back. “I believe she found the one she wants.”
Fox’s face softens, a smile touching her lips as she realizes Eve is asleep. “It would seem so. I’d hate to bother her. She’s not been sleeping much.”
“We could let her stay there until everything is arranged.” He winks at her.
“That would be lovely.” Fox’s smile widens. “How many do you have in stock?”
“I think we have 4 but I would have to check.” He lifts up his tablet and begins checking.
“I would like to buy two and have them delivered.” She glances at her phone. “Would it be too late to have it delivered today?”
“I don’t see a problem with having them delivered today.” He taps a few keys. “Looks like I have two beige, one burgundy, and one black.”
“I want the beige delivered to her office and the black delivered to her room.” Fox taps a finger to her lips. “I doubt Owen would want her sleeping in that every night.”
He taps his tablet again, glancing at his inventory list. “Perhaps a new mattress? We have some wonderful adjustable beds that can contour to her body.”
“That might do the trick.” Fox grins. “Show me what you have.”
Eve feels a weight settled down next to her and her eyes flutter open. She frowns, not knowing where she is at as Fox smiles down at her. “Feeling better, Sleeping Beauty?” Fox brushes the hair from her confused eyes.“Yeah, much.” Eve glances around, realizing she’s still in the store. “What happened?”
“You fell asleep.” Fox laughs as Eve tries to sit up in alarm. “It’s fine. I did some ordering and you should have two of these” she pats the chaise they are on “by the end of the day. I also ordered a new mattress so you can try sleeping next to Owen with tossing and turning all night. I know for a fact he’s had that same one for 20 years.”
“Oh.” Her face reddens slightly. “Sorry.”
“Don’t get yourself all worked up over it.” Fox pats her hand. “I went through the same thing. It happens to all mothers. You hit your limit and had to recharge. I think we can leave the rest of the shopping until tomorrow.”
“You have 3 meetings in the morning and a review to go over in the afternoon.” Eve swings her legs over the side of the chaise and stands up slowly.
“The review can be done over an extended lunch.” Fox takes her arm again and walks with her. “And we can go shopping after. You need sexy clothes for your new sexy body.”
Eve huffs, rolling her eyes. “I don’t feel sexy. Not in the slightest.” She glances around as the near the entrance. “I’m sure sex will soon be a thing of the past.”
“Oh PLEASE!” Fox growls at her. “Don’t go all ‘No man will want me cause I’m fat and pregnant’ on me! I know better than that! Have you even let Owen have a chance to instigate sex lately?”
“No, I’ve been asleep by the time he comes to bed.” Eve frowns. “I haven’t really even thought about it. I’ve had my mind on trying to not spill magic out of me every time I’m around nature.”
Fox tilts her head, eyeing her friend. “Have you told him about this?”
“No.” Eve half smiles at her sheepishly. “Again I’ve been asleep and I hate to wake him to talk about it when I do wake up half the night and can’t go back to sleep cause he’s sleeping.”
“That man can run just fine on two hours of sleep.” Fox shakes her head. “Wake him anyway.”
“Ok, I will.” Eve starts to smile.
“Now let’s go eat before Owen accuses me of working you to death and not feeding you.” Fox grins as they walk out.
Owen steps into his livingroom and notices right away something has changed. He frowns as he glances around the room, noticing furniture moved and a new chaise lounge between the two couches. He slides his jacket off of his shoulders, stalking around the room to see what else has changed. When he finds nothing else, he heads for the bedroom.
Eve looks up as the door opens, nerves jittery as he steps into the room and glares at the new bed. “We can change it back if you don’t like it.”
His eyes shoot her way, fastening on the way her skin is flushed and her body more relaxed. He suddenly notices little details he had missed before because she was asleep when he came in. The roundness of her belly had gotten larger, her body shifting to make it easier to accommodate it. The tiredness in her eyes.
He walks over and settles down next to her, pulling her into his arms. “We could have gotten one sooner if I had known you weren’t comfortable.”
“I was just too tired to think about it, honestly.” She lays her head on his shoulder. “Fox told me to go to bed when we got back. I think it’s the first solid 3 hours of sleep I’ve had in weeks.”
He kisses the top of her head. “Then I will leave you alone so you can go back to sleep.”
“Don’t.” She wraps her arms around him, opening up her end of the bond so he can feel her insecurity.
“My Queen,” He strokes her cheek, chuckling softly. “why would you ever think I wouldn’t want you?”
She leans away from him glancing down at her expanding waist. “I’m huge and it’s only the beginning.”
He tilts her head up with a finger under her chin, capturing her lips. He kisses her hungrily, letting her feel his pent up frustration at not being able to have her. His desire to touch and taste all of her washes through, almost overwhelming her.
When he finally pulls away, she pants softly and whispers “Oh!”
He smiles softly at her, leaning closer to nip her neck. Her eyes flutter closed, moaning softly as he nips her softly behind her ear. He reaches up gently unbuttoning her shirt and pulling it open. He nips his way down, kissing the tops of her breasts as they try to spill out of her bra.
“Women do not realize how beautiful they are, even when they are pregnant.” He eases the fabric down until one nipple is exposed. “Even their breasts become fuller and more luscious.” He pulls it deep into his mouth, suckling hard.
Eve gasps, sensations rolling through her. His hand slips down, clasping her hip as she arches into him. Her arms snake around him, holding his head in place. Her breathing becomes ragged as magic pours out of her body. He growls softly, suckling even harder as he feels her begin to spiral out of control. Her nails dig into his hair, pulling as she shudders and moans in pleasure.
He answers her moans with another low growl, feeling himself getting impossibly hard. She cries out, arching further as her body spasms and soaks the bed beneath her. He finally lets go of her nipple, lapping is softly one last time.
“I am going to enjoy playing with you if this is how you are going to be for the next several months.” He growls at her.
She pants, her eyes barely seeing. “Um, wow. I didn’t know you could do that.” She opens her eyes more, smirking. “And when did you get undressed?”
“The same time you did.” He smirks back, his eyes hooded with lust. “Your magic took care of it.” He reaches over and grabs the bed control. “Now let’s see what this thing can do.”
He pushes a button until the head is up enough for her to lay back on. He puts the control down, nipping her nipple and earning a shuddering moan. “I have an idea. Get on your knees and turn around.”
She gets up, turns around, and places her hands on the now raised head. She sighs in relief as it takes the weight off of her stomach and puts it on her arms. He slides up behind her, rubbing his hands down her back. She gazes at him over her shoulder as he places soft kisses down her back.
He leans closer, lips touching her ear as he slowly slides into her. “Don’t let me hurt you.”
“Ok.” She moans softly as he inches his way into her. Her eyes flutter closed again, feeling herself climbing again quickly.
Her muscles grip him tight as he slides into her, forcing him to slow down or lose control. He leans more, placing his hands next to hers on the bed. His teeth rake her shoulder as he takes her agonizingly slow. She arches her hips into him, forcing him in deeper. She begins to move under him, speeding up his pace to match her need.
“Vixen, you’re too tight.” He moans in her ear. “I won’t last if you keep this up.”
“Neither will I.” She gasps back, magic rolling off of her body again.
“Two can play that game.” He growls back. One hand leaves the bed, cupping her breast and pinching her nipple.
She cries out, feeling herself lose control. Her muscles spasm hard, milking him as he plunges faster into her. His body tightens against her, teeth biting down into her shoulder. A growl vibrates through her body as pleasure washes through their bond. Her body never stops, spasms growing harder as she feels him spill into her. His hips buck against hers, burying himself deep into her as he cums. His hand releases her nipple and his arm snakes around her waist, holding her still as he finally begins to calm.
“I didn’t intend for it to be this quick.” His breath comes out short and fast in her ear. “My apologies.”
“Don’t be.” She chuckles softly, leaning her head against his. “I don’t think I am in any shape for it to be long and drawn out right now.” She wiggles her hips against him. “Besides, I might wake up in the middle of the night and want more.”
“You had best wake.” He growls softly, nipping her ear before leaning away and moving to the bed next to her. He pulls her onto his lap, making her straddle him as he holds her close. “I plan on putting this bed to good use.”
She kisses his softly, settling into his arms. “I could easily sleep like this.”
“I don’t mind.” He gently strokes her hair, feeling her relax against him. “Sleep, My Queen. You need it.”
Her body relaxes more, her mind drifting off before she can even object.
