Disclaimer: I do not own Gargoyles/Disney related but the original character, Eve Anderson, is from my own mind and is not a character of Disney. I get no pay and am only doing this for fun |
Eve stares out the window of the truck, sighing heavily. “Are we there yet?”
“No.” Justin growls at her, his frown deepening.
She lightly taps her fingers against the window glass. “Are we there yet?”
“Same answer as last time!” He rolls his eyes and growls again. “No.”
She sighs again, watching the streets roll by as they head to Central Park. “Are you sure we’re not there yet?”
“Oh for pity sake, Eve!” He glances at her, knuckles nearly white on the steering wheel. “Are you seriously going to keep asking me that the whole way?”
Her lips twitch up, a soft chuckle escaping her. “Isn’t it my job to annoy you since you are technically now my brother?”
“Why did I agree to have another sister?” He grumbles softly before relaxing his hands. “I guess it is.”
She waits until he is relaxed and ignoring her again before smirking to herself. “Are we there yet?”
“Seriously?!” He nearly yells at her, glaring back at her as she smiles innocently. “At this rate I will pay him to take you off my hands!”
She laughs as he turns a corner and pulls into a lane surrounded by trees. “You would not.”
“Yes I would.” He sighs and parks near a covered gazebo. “And yes we are here.” He turns the engine off and turns towards her, pointing. “Now get out before I do something I might regret like hand you off to the nearest hobo.”
She laughs harder as she opens the door. “You would not.”
“Would to!” He gets out on his side.
“Not!” She yells back to him as she heads for the back of the trailer.
“Would to!” He growls, rolling his eyes as he follows her. “Brat!”
She laughs again, winking at him as she climbs into the trailer to stroke Thunder’s nose.
Owen paces in his tent, David sitting in a chair nearby and smiling. “Don’t worry. Alexander will let you know when they get here. Everything will be fine.”“The justice of the peace hasn’t arrived yet either.” Owen grumbles as he turns to stalk the length of the tent again.
“He will not be necessary, Brother Dear.” Anastasia Renard steps into the tent, holding a small box.
“Why is that?” He nearly snarls at her as he turns again.
“Settle, Brother.” She holds out the box to him, a faint smile on her lips. “Open this.”
He glares at her, grabbing the box out of her hands. He stalks across the tent as he opens the box, anger radiating through his body. Suddenly he stops midstride, box nearly dropping from his fingers. His whole body stills, fingers gently stroking the fabric in the box. “Is this?”
“Yes, Brother.” She smiles, walking over to gently touch his shoulder. “My Lord Husband will be marrying you. It is his gift to Eve.”
He looks up, one tear threatening to fall. “This will be binding.”
“Yes.” She laughs softly. “And no one will be able to break it.”
He takes her hand, gently squeezing it as he calms himself. “Please give him my gratitude.”
She nods, stepping away and heading for the opening again. “He will be pleased to hear it, Brother.”
David walks over, taking the box from Owen and glancing inside. “Is this what I think it is?”
“Yes.” Owen starts to smile.
Alexander runs into the tent, grinning from ear to ear. “They’re here! And guess what?!”
“What, Alexander?” David pulls his son close and ruffles his hair.
“There are TONS of Fae here!” Alexander bounces on his toes. “Apparently everybody wants to see this wedding.”
Owen sighs, handing the box to Alexander. “They are here to see this, Nephew.”
“Awesome!” Alexander grins as he sees the fabric in the box. “So do I get to hold it and the ring?”
“No.” David takes the box from him, closing it. “I will hold the ring and you will have the box.” He winks at Owen. “I doubt they would want me to touch it since I don’t have fae blood.”
“True.” Owen claps his hands together. “Time to get ready, Alexander. Your clothes are behind the partition. Go get changed.”
“WooHoo!” Alexander cheers as he bounces his way to the partition.
David chuckles. “If I didn’t know any better I’d say he was excited.”
“You think?” Smiles and glances out at the gathering crowd.
Eve gently strokes Thunder’s neck, breathing in his calming scent. The sound of tinkling bells comes closer, telling her Justin is ready. She glances at him over her shoulder, her smile widening to see him in his leathers and feathers. “Going all out for me?”“If we are doing things as traditionally as possible, then yes you could call this going all out for you.” He pats Thunder’s neck. “Ready?”
“As I will ever be.” She sighs, nerves starting to make her hands shake a little.
He cups her hands in hers, laughing. “Don’t get cold feet now. It’s too late for any of that.” He drops her hands and leans over, offering his cupped hands. “Come on. Let’s get you boosted up.”
She puts her foot in his hands and lets him boost her onto Thunder’s back. The stallion arches his neck, ears forward as he stares out the tent. “Are you riding as well?”
“No.” He pats her leg and walks to the opening. “Too many Fae out there and I don’t want to offend anyone. I think we will walk with you. Mom is already waiting in line with everybody.” He pulls the tent flap aside to let Thunder through. “Shall we, My Lady?”
“Yes, we shall, Brother Dear.” She grins and ducks under the top as Thunder steps through.
He pats the stallion’s rump and walks after them. “Just remember I’m the man in this family until I give you away like property, Sister Dear.”
She laughs, reaching out to pat his head like a little child. “Whatever, Little man.”
Fox, Elisa, and Angela turn as she rides up, beaming at her. “Oh! He’s so beautiful!” Angela strokes Thunder’s nose.
“Ready for this?” Elisa winks.
“Nope, but let’s do it anyway!” She winks back and then gazes out over the crowd. “Holy hell! I did expect this many people.”
“Over half of them are Fae.” Fox turns and ushers Elisa and Angela into line. “You’ll be fine.”
Justin and his family surround Eve, Thunder, and Warrior. “We’re ready.”
She straightens her back, curling her fingers in Thunder’s mane. “Let’s do this.”
Justin smiles at Fox, nodding. Warrior lifts his head, sounding out a battle cry. Thunder begins prancing in place, Warrior matching his steps. Eve giggles, tightening her grip on Thunder’s mane as they begin to slowly move forward.
Owen fidgets next to David, Oberon in a long white robe only feet away. He glances at the Fae, glad for the disguise keeping the humans from seeing him for who he really is. David smirks, seeing Owen trying to hide his nerves. “I never thought I would see you this out of sorts, Owen.”“I am not sure how long we can keep him patient.” Owen glances at Oberon again.
Alexander suddenly grins. “Can you hear it?” A stallion’s battle scream rings through the air. “Bells!”
Owen’s head jerks around to face the crowd, the soft tinkling of bells finally catching his attention. Angela slowly walks down the grassy aisle made between the rows of chairs, her smile blossoming when she sees Owen, David, Goliath, and Alexander all standing together in their kilts. She tries to stifle a giggle but is escapes her as she turns to stand on the other side of the aisle. Elisa follows close behind, her eyes never leaving Goliath’s until it is time to take her place beside Angela.
Fox lifts her head as she comes into sight, a playful smile touching her face as she winks at Owen. “Nice legs.” She mutters softly as she passes him, earning her a blush in return.
Justin’s family gather together, their steps light and even as they step out a rhythm. Coyote stands up, singing out in time with their steps. Warrior prances in behind them, head arched and high as he snorts and shakes his head. Several fae stand as he prances by, eyes wide and mouths open in shock. Justin’s family spread out in front of Oberon, keeping their bodies between him and Eve.
Justin walks proudly only steps in front of Eve and Thunder, his bells chiming in time to Thunder’s steps. His cries echo Coyotes, the crowd coming to their feet as Thunder prances towards them. Owen’s body stills, the sight of Eve coming towards him pushing everything away. Eve’s head is held high, her hair blowing behind her as Thunder prances under her. Justin stops just before Oberon, his eyes never leaving the King of the Fae. Thunder stops just behind Justin, rearing and screaming out a challenge to Oberon. Owen’s lips twitch up, admiring the way Eve never moves a muscle as Thunder’s feet touch the ground again. Her eyes stay straight forward, never looking at one single person.
Oberon stares at the stallion a moment longer, one eyebrow raised as he appraises the sight before him. “Who brings this woman to me?”
“We do.” Justin raises his head, eyes flat as he stares Oberon down. “We are her family and it is our right to bring her to her husband’s people to be united in peace.”
Oberon nods to him, respectfully. “Then bring this woman to me so I can judge her.”
Justin turns sharply, gently stroking Thunder’s nose as he reaches for Eve. She never looks at him as she leans forward, letting him take her weight in his arms as she slides down off of the stallion’s back. She feels him softly chuckle as her feet hit the ground. He gently takes her left hand, leading her to the side of his grandmother.
Oberon stares down at her, his hands loosely clasped in front of him. “Child, will you truthfully and willingly answer my questions?”
She finally looks at him, unchallenged. “I will.”
“Do you come to this union of your own free will, Child?” Again he lifts one brow.
“I do.” She twitches her lips up for a moment. “My Lord.”
A pleased smile passes before dying. “Do you give your heart freely to this union, My Child?”
“I cannot give what has already been given.” She glances towards Owen. “I am afraid I have given it to him some time ago.”
Oberon smiles again. “Truly spoken, My Child.” He glances out over the crowd. “Is there another who would bring more to this union than you?”
“I am sure there is.” She steels herself, raising her head high again. “But it is not anyone but me he desires.”
Oberon smile widens, glancing at Owen. “Is this true? Do you desire only this child?”
“I do.” Owen glances at her, a smile touching his lips. “She has everything I need and desire.”
“Well said.” Oberon nods to him. “Do you swear to protect and succor this child until the end of her days?”
“I do.” Owen stares back. “Even if it means my death.”
“Would you give up everything to be with her?”
“Already have.” Owen smiles.
Oberon nods and reaches out a hand towards her. “Come, child.”
Justin takes her hand, leading her past his family and to Oberon. He gently lays her hand in Oberon’s. Oberon nods to him, amusement in his eyes as he curls his fingers around her hand. He holds out his other for Owen. Owen slowly takes it, his eyes never leaving hers. “Do you have the cloth?”
Alexander grins, pulling the box from his jacket as he steps forward. Oberon places Owen’s hand over Eve’s before taking the cloth from the box and wrapping it around their joined hands. Eve nearly gasps as she feels magic surge through her hands and into the cloth. Owen tightens his fingers slightly on her hand in reassurance before winking at her. Her lips twitch up as she realizes for a moment she was not paying attention to what Oberon was saying. She could hear him softly chanting and is relieved she doesn’t have to answer anything for the moment. She reaches out through their bond, relaxing even more when Owen reaches back.
Oberon releases their hands, stepping back from them. “It is done. You are now one.” He looks over the crowd, a slight smile touching his lips. “May I present to you this union of two souls, Evelyn and Owen Burnett.”
Owen winks at her again before turning them towards the crowd. Eve cringes as everyone stands, cheering for them. Thunder bows as the walk towards him, Justin grinning as he pats the stallion’s neck. “What now, Sister Dear?”
“Now I take this offered ride and get my wife to the limo before anyone decides this wasn’t a good idea.” Owen slides a leg deftly over Thunder’s back and pulls Eve up in front of him, maneuvering their arms just right as they are still joined by the cloth.
“Are you sure you won’t flash anybody in your skirt?” Eve grins as Thunder stands.
“Don’t worry about my kilt, My Dear.” He chuckles in her ear as Thunder pivots on one leg and canters back down the aisle. “I’ve had years of practice keeping one from flying up.”
“So is it true what they say about what’s under one?” She leans her head back enough to see him smiling.
“You’ll have to find out after we get to the limo.” He tightens his arm on her and gives Thunder a slight nudge for more speed as they race through the park.
