Dreams
Summary: I am drowning in a pool of hazy mist that coats a darkness over my eyes. A constant fog surrounds me. I feel as if I am hearing, seeing, speaking, all underwater. Somewhere submerged deep inside me something is screaming, hysterically crying, breaking, but it is so far down that I hardly notice. It is ever present, a nuisance to my hazy reality that annoys like a persistent gnat. Disturbing images plague my mind and memory, taunting in their familiarity... So I sleep.
----Dreams----
I dream dreams.
When I wake and my mind buzzes, awash with memories from another time and place. Memories of flame and fire, of destruction and death.
There are faces.
A girl solid and strong with cloudy eyes. Toph. A son of the sea holds a sword made of the stars. Sokka. Beside him a warrior woman brandishes steel fans. Suki. And there is the child I've dreamed of before. A child painted in blue arrows with ancient eyes full of knowledge. Aang.
The faces along with their names fade rapidly as I awaken and I am relieved, for the memory itself had sent a sharp stab of physical pain that remains, aching in my breast.
