Chapter 9- Preparation.

With the school valentines day formal dance only a few days away, the time for buying, or hiring a formal outfit was at the point that it couldn't be put off any longer.

Kimi didn't want to shop alone, you can't get good feedback on how you look in the outfit when you have to rely on the opinion of the sales staff that work on commission.

"Excuse me." Asked a female voice behind him. Probably a sales assistant. Matthew turned, it wasn't a sales assistant, he didn't know who she was, but she did look familiar.
"Matthew?" She asked. It clicked.
"Suzy? Kimi's friend?" He asked. She nodded and gave a sigh of relief.
"Great, you remember me. Look, I know that since you don't really know me this is going to sound weird, but I need a favour."

Slowly she turned and her eyes focussed on a beautiful ball gown. A pale silver with glittering sequins running in an S shape down the body. Low cut down the front and very low cut down the back with shoulder straps of shining silver/grey ribbon. The dress was sleeveless and would come down to her ankles and came with silk gloves that, once worn, would come up to Kimi's elbows.

Lill followed where Kimi was looking and stared a the dress.
"Me like." She muttered.
"Too late." Said Kimi. "Me have." Kimi dived over to the dress and whistled loudly to get the attention of the sales assistant.
"How may I help you?" She asked with a fake smile and obvious fake sincerity.
"This one and that one." She pointed to the dress Lill was wearing.

The assistant turned her attention to the dress on the dummy while Lill went back into the changing room to get her normal clothes back on.

The phone rang in the living room of the Finster household. Chucky was the first to get hold of it.
"Hello?" He asked.
"Chucky?" A girls voice, it sounded like Suzy.
"Yes." He confirmed.
"It's Suzy. I need a favour."

Purchases made there was only one port of call left on the shopping expedition, McDonalds for cheap, yet somehow, tasty food.
"A cheeseburger and a chocolate milkshake." Said Kimi unwrapping the food that looked nothing like it's picture. Lill had a chicken salad and a diet coke.
"You'll pay for it later. Do you know how many calories are in those?"
"The way I see it." Said Kimi. "Eat what you like, get fat, die happy. Eat healthy, stay thin, die anyway." She took a large bite of her burger and made yummy noises.

Lill sighed and picked at her salad.
"Whatever." She muttered.

Kimi peeked into her bag ad stared at her dress.
"I'm going to look gorgeous in that." She said, practically laughing. Lill nodded.
"Yep, you're going to look great. I hope Matthew has something as nice. There's nothing that spoils a beautiful outfit more than a shabby looking date."

Kimi nodded in agreement.
"True, but gay guys have great sense of style."

Lill laughed.
"Good to know you not playing on the stereotypes."

Both girls burst into loud laughter, which attracted stares from the people around them. But neither of them cared, the day was just turning out too good for anything to spoil it.

Without realising it, Kimi reached across the table and held Lill's hand. Lill herself didn't notice at first until Kimi started to stare at the back of her hand. She fell silent and stared for a few seconds before Kimi caught on and pulled her hand away.
"Sorry." She said quietly as she started to blush.
"It was only a year ago that I realised that I was a nudist." Said Lill.

The subject needed to be drastically changed or Kimi would slip into the uneasy silence that she had been going through before they started to try on the dresses. "Were you serious about that?" Asked Kimi after the laughter died. Lill Nodded.
"I am. I've always kind of known, but I've not known, known, you know?"

Kimi nodded, but frankly she had been lost at the first 'known.'
"All I can remember growing up is that I'd had this urge that I couldn't explain and I didn't really know what this urge made me want to do."

Kimi nodded along, this was sounding quite familiar.

Lill smiled, it was really quite a sweet story.
"Wait a sec. didn't you see that movie when you were eight?"

"I said 'I wanted to sweep her off her feet' I didn't say I actually could."

Laughing happily the two girls abandoned their waste and left the fast food restaurant with high spirits. The Valentines Day ball was just three days away and they both had beautiful dresses and great dates for the occasion. Nothing could spoil their good mood.
