Chapter 7: Grandfather and his Grandson
8, June 2017 AD, 8.02 (Earth's time)
Rose Quartz's ruined ship, Hangar Level.
Steven blinked a few times to process what he heard from Dark hodded ma. He looked at him to see his entire view. Hell, he defiantly can make Gems shiver in front of him. The way he looks at him tells his mind that he will kill everyone who will make him angry.
"You...you are my grandfather?" Steven repeats as he finnaly got courage to speak
Carnelian smirked by his reaction "It's very interesting how the Universe works in our time. We don't both look like we come from the same line but yes, Steven. I'm your grandfather and I'm glad to finally see my legacy in one piece" Carnelian crossed his arms, grinning at young human.
His word made him even more confused "But it' can't be true. Gems are synthetic race...it can't be-"
Carnelian shushed him "WHO TOLD YOU ABOUT THIS NONSENSE...WHO!" He exclaimed.
Steven didn't say something, trying to not anger his new grandfather even more. Carnelian calmed down and continued his speech. "Gems/Gemirians are an organic race just like Humans, Equestrians and Elysian's. We can have children in an old-fashioned way.
He grabs his mask and clears his lens on it "Me and Golden Diamond created your mother, while your mother created you, Steven. The mating ritual was only allowed to Purebloods. Did you know that every Class Gems came directly from Kindergartens? That's the reason why we needed an army to keep peace on Homeworld."
He looks at him again. "Anyway, Female Gem can modify her unborn child whatever she wants to. If she wants so that her child has the same appearance like her then...she can. Your grandmother wanted to Rose Quartz to be unique rather than her. That's why she doesn't have similarities with Golden Diamond."
Steven smirks "That explains a lot to me...but why you killed Blue Diamond? If you are Emperor that means the Diamond Authority are your subjects."
Carnelian looked at Blue Diamond's gemstone for a moment. Then he looks at Steven "Because they are nothing but greedy assholes that only care about themselves. They responsible for the death of your closest ones, Steven. They betray me, Golden Diamond and even your mother during the crisis for Earth. They must be stopped."
"I-I don't understand. If you are the Creator of Gems and Homeworld are about million years...It means that you...you are million years old Gem." Steven asks him
Carnelian smiled by his theory. "I see you are a good thinker. Not bad."
Carnelian stood up and makes one circle around him. "Yes, Steven. I'm one million years old Gem...and also a hybrid...just like you. I've experienced the full history of Gemirian People."
Steven raised his eyebrow "Gemirians?"
Carnelian looks at him with the grin "It second name of Gem race. Both Gem and Gemirian are correct names for us. Gem is rock, Gemirian is more a "race name."
"Who are the Gemirians and how did they appear?" Steven asks
"There is the whole story about that."
Carnelian sat on the floor next to him. He looks at the Earth that is visible to them. "When I was born. My people waged war with the race that everyone was afraid of. They called themselves Zecurans. They dominated the galaxy and destroyed all civilizations that they attacked. Today Gems refers them as "Creators". They created the first Gemstone that capable giving owner unlimited power."
He looks at him "When I was about 23 years old, I and other squads had a mission to infiltrate Zecurans research station and destroy it. Then
He looks at his hand "I saw it. I was amazed by design. I grabbed it to take a detailed look. Then it pierced through my hand. I felt how it's changing my DNA somehow. I sensed strong pain and passed out. Soon after I woke up and saw that the Gemstone sewed into my right hand. I tried to remove it but failed. I realized the true meaning of that Gemstone. Zecurans tried to create a super weapon in order to capture the whole Galaxy. When I told this news to my people they started the biggest campaign against Zecurans."
"And after that?" Steven asks
Carnelian looks at him again "I won't tell the full story about the war between my people and Zecurans. But it...didn't end well for me or the Galaxy."
"You mean-"
" We wiped out each other from the face of Galaxy. I'm the only survivor of the destruction of my race and even the whole Galaxy."
"The whole Galaxy was destroyed by the war?" Steven asks him if he is correct.
Carnelian nods "Yes. What's the left of it...created a two new galaxies. And so the Milky Way and Andromeda were born. I was lucky to be in a place where I was safe. I was on the planet that in future will know as Homeworld. But before the Gems it simply called Crystallia. And so I spend years traveling that planet, discovering fauna, wild animals and landscape.
"How Homeworld is looked like?"
"It's a beautiful planet. We have many forests, seas, mountains and oceans outside the capital. It very rare to see a rain or storm. Earth have some similarities with Homeworld according to the old document.
"Good to know that Homeworld liked our planet. So what happened after you spent time traveling on future Homeworld, Carnelian?"
I stumbled a village. They were friendly to me and offered me a place for me. In exchange, I'm taught them how to fight, how to conquer and how to dominate. I also meet the daughter of shamans who..."
He smiled with a small blush on his face. "Who in the future will know as Golden Diamond."
"My Grandmother?" Steven asks
"Yes...many years later. I turned Crystallians from a peaceful tribe into warriors. When the last tribe chief died of old age. I was elected as new leader of Crystallians. After that, I gave them full use of Gemstones. And so I created a new race...Gemirians or Gems. I proclaimed myself as Emperor and Golden Diamond created the Diamond Authority in order to keep peace in Homeworld."
"But in the book, it says that you are lost complete power thanks for Authority." Steven corrects him
"Not by them, Steven. I lost my power because of my daughter. Many years passed since I created the Empire. Me and Golden Diamond had two kids. Aura and Rose Quartz."
"Who is Aura Quartz?"
Carnelian hisses "Your "dead" Aunt. She was a complete opposite of Rose Quartz. She was evil and power hungry Pink Diamond that I ever saw in my life. She betrayed me, her mother and even her little sister. That day she accused me and Golden Diamond for killing innocent Gems for nothing...even though we didn't. Of course, the blinded by propaganda Gemirians believed her. They started rioting outside my palace. I ordered guards to kill rioters. After that Diamond Authority gave me an ultimatum to allow Aura Quartz to become a new Empress of Gemirian Empire. Golden Diamond denied this idea and so am. But Diamond Authority declared war against me and Golden Diamond. Today it refers as "Aura Quartz revolution"
"Then you killed her own daughter and still lost your power?"
"Yes I do...and I waited millennia to strike them down, Steven. Today-" He strongly squeezed his hand and Blue Diamond's Gemstone broke into pieces. "I once again prove to Gemirians that I'm a far superior leader than Authority."
"And you still look too young for the oldest Gem on Homeworld."
Carnelian raised his sleeve to look at his gemstone. For a Steven, it looks a little strange. His gemstone has a form of the dark star which reminds him his own yellow star on his old red shirt. But it different it has very sharp peaks. It glowing with some kind of energy and he could see a how dark smoke is moving inside the gem.
Carnelian smiled at him "Impressive huh? My Gemstone gives me this power that is the more powerful than any Gemstone. With this, I will destroy Yellow Diamond once and for all."
"Then join Crystal Gems, Grandfather. Together we can end this and liberated Gems from the long tyranny of the Authority."
Carnelian laughed by his response. "Do you seriously think that I will join a terrorist group, Steven. I have my...own plans for Homeworld and Earth."
"What are you talking about?"
Carnelian grins "I don't want to see Earth as an independent planet."
Carnelian looked at the planet Earth from the hangar again. "I want to see her as part of my future Empire, Steven. If you tell your people to surrender to us then I will peacefully annex your planet. Gems and Humans finally can know each other.
Steven becomes angry "You got to be kidding right? Humanity achieved many accomplishments and we still have a bright ahead of us. I WILL NEVER DO THAT TO MY OWN PEOPLE!"
Carnelian narrowed his eyes. "You think I don't know humanity very well? Your people always were selfish to each other.
He starts walking circles around Steven "Throughout the history of mankind it slowly is destroying itself over the ages. Both Napoleonic wars and Great War shattered Europe like a nothing.
He stopped in front of him "Your people are fighting for stupid ideology: Democracy, Capitalism, and Communism...they are NOTHING compare to our ideas!
He hisses "But in 21 century...you finally decided to study our space and find other Civilizations."
He applauds to Earth "Bravo, Humanity! You achieved great things! But still, you terrorizing yourself because of stupid religions. I can't believe that Rose Quartz tried to defend Humanity against us."
He stops clapping and looks at Steven "It will be a lot better if Humans will join our society."
"Mankind learns from their mistakes. After Great War. Central powers took a pity on Entente countries. They offered an alliance to them...to finally cooperate for a better world."
"And that helped?" Carnelian interrupts him "Your people nearly used Atomic Bombs against the Soviet Union."
"But we didn't. Do you know what Humanity makes a lot better than Gemirians?"
"Which is?" Carnelian crossed his arms
"Equality among the Humanity," Steven whispers to him.
Carnelian rolled his eyes "Oh please...During the period of my rule. Every Gem was equal to everyone. It's Diamond Authority who destroyed this Equality."
"But-"
Carnelian interrupts him"You need to understand that I'm not against the Humanity, You or Rose Quartz. I admire humans. They gave me an idea to make Gemirians just like human society. I want to create where Gemirians are not war machines. I want to see a Gemirian couple who are playing with their healthy kid. I want to see how class pearl gives balloons to kids. I want to see where the classes are equal to each other.
He turns around to him "I don't want to see a caste system on Homeworld. I want to see a true happy living society. I'm not a power hungry dictator who only cares about himself. I just want to reclaim this planet."
"As the colony?"
"No...As part of my Empire, Steven. Forget about Rose Quartz's ideas and join me...and together...we will destroy the Diamond Authority and rule the Galaxy as Grandfather and Grandson. I promise that I won't kill your friends, your loved ones or even you care about."
Ruby ran out of the Carnelian's Shuttle with handcuffs on her and cried out to Steven. "Don't listen to him, Steven. Remember what Garnet and Pearl told you about Homeworld!"
Then two Gemirians troopers ran up to her. They pushed her and started beating her with electric batons. Carnelian watched her as she was crying in pain. He ignored her and drew his attention to Steven. "Please, Steven. I already lost my two daughters...I don't want to see my grandson as an enemy of Gem Empire."
Steven doesn't know what to say about it. It now his Destiny...to protect Earth or let the Homeworld devour his home planet.
"Don't...listen...his...sweet little lies." She grunted in pain
"Don't listen to that..." He points to Ruby "Brainwashed Gem. She doesn't know a real thing."
Steven closed his eyes for a minute. He slowly opened his eyes and said threateningly. "No...!"
Ruby smiled knowing that he is still loyal to his friends. As for Carnelian...he didn't respond it. Instead, he watches Steven cold stare.
Steven clears his throat "I will never betray my people because of you. You are just another tyrant who just wants to restore his power."
Carnelian turns his back to him. He put on his black hood on and said in a quiet tone. "Why all of you always resisting?"
"Because Rose Quartz's ideas are correct. Gems are needed to be live in peace." Steven hisses
Carnelian didn't say anything. Instead, He just put his mask one. He turned around to Steven. "You lost your fear, don't you?" Carnelian says with a big threat.
Steven: "Maeby am. But mark my words; Gems will revolt against your rule."
That makes him very angry. "So be it...Universe."
Carnelian instantly pulled out his dark sword and pierced his chest. Steven didn't feel the pain but felt like he was losing a life. Then Carnelian pulled his sword out his chest, Steven fell to his knees, he weakly looked at Ruby which looks with horror as his friend is dying.
"I'm sorry," he said quietly
Steven Then lifelessly fell to the ground and didn't move. Ruby felt a big rage coming all over her body. "YOU MONSTER!" She screamed.
She then broke her handcuff with her rage. She summoned her gauntlets and tossed two soldiers 2 meters away. She charges at Carnelian but he easily dodged her attack. She tried to attack him once more but he grabbed her neck and tossed to destroyed ship. She hit her head on it and felled on the floor. She tried to stand up but failed...she was defeated.
Carnelian slowly approached her. He looked at her. She tried to crawl away from her but he stepped on her foot. "Pathetic"
He casts a fireball and tossed it to Ruby. After the explosion, Ruby was poofed...Carnelian picked up her Gemstone. He is looking at it thinking to shatter it. He looks at his ship reminding that Sapphire is here.
"Make sure that her gemstone will be in the cell by the time she will appear." He tosses Ruby's Gemstone to one of his soldiers.
He catches it and salutes "Yes sir."
Then Trooper boarded the Shuttle with Gemstone. After that, Carnelian approached to Steven's body. He sat on his knees and checked his wounds. Colonel Redstone approached to Steven's body as well. He looked at. He looked at Steven first then looked at his ruler.
"You didn't kill him, my lord?" Redstone asks
"No...just made him unconscious for a while." Carnelian snaps
Carnelian stood up and looks at Colonel "We are done here, Colonel. I supposed that Amethyst, Pearl and Sapphire are on board on your shuttle?"
Colonel Redstone salutes "Yes, my lord."
"Then tell your men to transfer Steven body to my shuttle."
Colonel cocked his chrome helmet "Are you not going to transfer him to Homeworld?"
Carnelian looks at him "No... He is not ready. He needs to correct"
With that, Carnelian ordered royal guards to carry Steven to his ship. After they done. Carnelian climbed on board and was greeted by his own personal pilot.
"Welcome back, my lord. Where are we going now?" His pilot says.
Carnelian approached to Pilot's console. He typed something on the computer.
"This location" He pointed to Coordinates.
Pilot widened his eyes as soon he saw the coordinates. "Uhh...my lord, Are you sure it wise-"
"You dare to quest my actions, Pilot?" Masked Gem hisses
Pilot becomes nervous "Of course not-"
"Then shut the hell up and listen to my orders."
Pilot salutes "Of course my lord."
With that, Pilot started the engines. Shuttle got up and flew from the hangar leaving Redstone's soldiers alone in the hangar.
"Sir, what about this ship?" Gemirian trooper asks him
"Destroy it...leave no evidence of our presence." Redstone orders.
Gemirian trooper salutes "Yes sir!"
Then Colonel entered his shuttle and approached to Pearl. She is peacefully lying on the floor.
"What a shame, Pearl. From loyal White Diamond's Pearl to pathetic rebel." Redstone adds
Sometime later.
"Uhhh my head...where am I am?" Steven said in his, though. His eyes still closed
"My lord. He is regaining consciousness." Says robotic voice.
"Keep him restrained." Says familiar voice to Steven.
"Yes, sir."
Then he feels how needle of syringe penetrates his skin. He opened his eyes and screamed in pain. Then droid injected another serum. The pain was gone. Steven tried to escape but his hands are pinned down in some kind of ropes. He looked around and notices that he is on...Surgery table?
"Universe," The masked voice says.
Steven looks at Carnelian "YOU! You killed me!" He screams at his grandfather
Carnelian crossed his arms "No. You just lost your consciousness when I stabbed you. I brought you to this facility in order to retrain you."
"Why!"
Carnelian placed his hand on his hips "You will be the main source to study Human's society. After that, I want to train you in Homeworld style of fighting. You will become my personal assassin."
"I will never become one of your minions! NEVER!" Steven screamed
"Then...you can rot in hell. I can wait for you to change your mind...for another million years."
"Make him suffer." He said as he left the room.
"It will be done, my lord," Droid says
Carnelian already left the facility. He could hear Steven's screams inside the facility. He smiled devilishly knowing that he made his life even worst. He finally reached to his shuttle, he entered it and take his seat.
"Where now, my lord?" His pilot asks him.
"To Homeworld...it's time to end this nonsense once and for all."
