Chapter 6
A day and a night later, Jeremy took the girls to the new restaurant he had wanted to try. Candace had expected to be the one to arrange their next date, but she sensed that Jeremy was trying to take the pressure off her—in part by making their date someplace public, where things couldn’t get too physical.
“You know,” Jeremy said as they walked home, “some people say badger-themed restaurants are passé, but personally, I think their coolness is gonna last.”
“I don’t know,” said Stacy. “If people liked badgers, I don’t think ‘badgering’ would be a word.”
“Or else it would mean something totally different,” Candace added. “Like, ‘You guys want to go badgering this afternoon?’ or ‘Wow, you are totally badgering in that new sweater.’”
They arrived at the front steps of the Hirano house. Standing under the porch light, Candace looked around. It was after dark, but there were still people passing by on the street, mostly walking dogs or jogging in the pleasantly cool night air.
"So," Jeremy said in a half-whisper, "I'd really like to give Stacy a goodnight kiss, but...."
Candace nodded her agreement. Why did everyone have to put a bright light right next to their front door? Didn't anyone respect the privacy of dating teenagers?
"No problem; just come inside," Stacy said. "My mom's at a hospital fundraiser, and Ginger's probably up in her room; I think she's having a couple of her friends over."
They went inside and into the living room. Stacy quickly closed the curtains on the windows.
"Now," she said with a sly smile, "who wants to kiss me goodnight first?"
"I do!" Candace and Jeremy said simultaneously. Then Jeremy, gesturing with his arm, said, "Ladies first."
Candace moved close to Stacy, and they each leaned in, gradually, until their lips touched. Candace was once again delighted by the softness of Stacy's lips, the sweet smell of her skin, the gentleness of her touch as Stacy placed her hands on Candace's hips, pulling their bodies even closer together for a moment before letting go.
“Your turn,” Stacy said to Jeremy with a coquettish smile.
Candace watched her boyfriend and girlfriend come together and kiss, steamily, Stacy wrapping a leg around Jeremy’s as her tongue gently probed his mouth. Then she let go.
“Now I get to watch you two,” Stacy said.
Candace put her arms around Jeremy and kissed him, holding him tight and pushing her chest against his. She started to push her tongue into his mouth and felt him doing the same.
"What are you guys DOING?" said a voice from the stairs.
Jeremy and Candace abruptly pulled apart, and all three teens whipped their heads around to see Ginger standing on the stairs.
Candace chose to stay silent, trusting that Stacy would know best what to say to her little sister to prevent her from tattling.
"Um," Stacy said, "I was just, ah, saying to Candace and Jeremy that it, uh, doesn't bother me if they’re, you know, affectionate around me."
"Ick," the girl said. "Teenagers are weird." She marched back up the stairs in a cloud of self-righteous disgust.
"Whew," said Jeremy to Stacy once it seemed clear that Ginger was out of earshot. "That was a little close. What would you have said if she'd seen you kissing me or Candace?"
"I'd have had to play my ace in the hole and threaten to tell everyone about her crush on Baljeet."
"I'm pretty sure everyone knows about that already," said Candace.
“Not our family in Tokyo,” Stacy explained. “If Cousin Aika and Cousin Mitsuko found out about that, they’d load up Ginger’s email with MP3s of dorky love songs, chibi pictures of her and Baljeet holding hands…Wow, now that I think about it, it’s going to be really hard NOT to tell them,” Stacy added, grinning fiendishly.
“So…” Candace said, attempting to change the subject, “um, thinking about what we talked about on the phone the other night…”
“Yeah?” said Jeremy.
“I’m- I’m up for it.”
“Oh, wow,” said Stacy. “You’re sure?”
“Yeah, I’m sure. But I think we should plan it. And we should plan it somewhere where younger brothers and sisters can’t put in a guest appearance.”
“That rules out my house,” said Jeremy. “Suzy’s been super clingy lately. Like, literally, I can’t put my foot in the door without her grabbing onto it. Makes me wonder…I mean, obviously she’s too young to understand what’s going on, but…Anyway, here’s an idea: How about we meet up tomorrow at the Mister Slushy Burger across the street from the mall? I get off at two, and the place should be a graveyard then.”
***
Sitting in a corner booth at Mister Slushy Burger, the three teens were attempting to have a discreet conversation about their plans for their big night. This effort was complicated by the fact that the place was full of boisterous children and a few harried-looking parents.
“Jeremy, not to alarm you,” Stacy said, “but your graveyard seems to be haunted.”
“Looks like a children’s birthday party,” Candace speculated.
“I’ll bet they just came from the new Ducky Momo movie,” Jeremy replied. “Suzy’s been dying to see it.”
“It’s pretty good,” said Candace, “but they’re starting to over-milk the franchise.” Then, coming to her senses, she added, “Is what I read in a review…that I came across while looking for something else.”
Thankfully, Jeremy chose that moment to get down to business. Although doing so didn’t make the conversation much less awkward.
"So..." Jeremy said, "I guess we should talk about how we want to, you know, do this."
"Um, right," said Candace. The children running around the place were noisy enough that none of the adults would be able to hear, but that didn’t make it any easier to think of what to say. "I mean...yeah, that...that makes sense..."
"Guys," Stacy said boldly, "if we're going to do this, we ought to be able to talk about it. Otherwise, it's like a sign that we're not ready. At least, that's what my mom said. You know, when we talked about a completely hypothetical situation involving me and exactly one other person."
Jeremy cleared his throat. "Okay then," he said with deliberate firmness. "Maybe we should each say what we want our first time to be like, and then we can figure out how we can make it good for all of us."
Candace swallowed nervously, but she was determined to match Stacy and Jeremy's resolve. "Okay, I'll go first. Um, I want it to be romantic, and exciting, and...intimate. Like, with all three of us totally involved, and nobody on the sidelines."
"Nice," said Jeremy. "That's what I want, too—to be completely tangled up with both of you."
"That's totally what I want," Stacy agreed. "I mean, maybe later it would be fun for one of us to just sit back and watch the other two sometimes, but our first time should be...total, you know?"
"Uh-huh," Candace said breathily.
She couldn't help but imagine herself on all fours with Stacy beneath her, kissing her deeply and ardently, as Jeremy pushed inside her from behind and slowly pumped her, every slow, sweet, strong thrust pushing her body against Stacy's.
Jeremy must have been having similar thoughts, because he had just broken a sweat. "Oh, man," he said in a loud whisper. "We're sitting in the middle of a crowded Mister Slushy Burger, and Little J just stood up."
"You have no idea how wet I am right now," Stacy said, her voice low with both discretion and lust.
"My nipples feel like they're going to cut right through my shirt," Candace whispered. "Maybe we'd better go."
"As long as one of you walks in front of me," Jeremy replied.
