Icy lay tossing in her bed. Things are slowly but surely getting out of hand here. The situation with Baltor… What game was he playing? First he gave her firepowers and Always complimented her on the smallest thing she did…
But that turned quite quickly when he suddenly favoured Stormy… And now Darcy… off course Stormy and herself were the goofs of the show now… Was he enjoying playing them against each other? … Or was there something else going on behind the scenes? … No, That might be a possibility on Darcy’s part, but Stormy would never take that turn… Would she?
Icy rubbed her face, what was she thinking… she softly chuckled at her ridiculous thoughts.
But still… she didn’t trust him… She was sure that they would end like they did back with Darkar… Then why did they stay? Why walk in this trap with open eyes?
At the moment they were quite ‘safe’ with Baltor… His magic made sure that they didn’t get send back to Light Heaven or Omega… That must be the reason. And there’s also the fact that, if they left, he’d also hunt them down.
But it couldn’t hurt to be prepared, she thought. She should take care of that soon. She quickly stepped out of bed and dressed in a comfortable jeans and shirt. She perked her head out the door to see no one was up and quickly went towards the library.
In the library she found a book to create portals and took it to the balcony with her. Off course her shock was big when she found out she wasn’t alone.
Stormy turned her head when she heard someone approaching… “Icy?”
“S-Stormy… what are you doing here?” Icy stammered.
Stormy returned her gaze towards the forest again “Couldn’t sleep…” She sighed, then turned to face Icy again “What about you? And what’s that book?”
Icy quickly hid the book behind her back “It’s nothing” she said nervously scratching her head.
Stormy stood up and stepped closer “It looks like that book I used to get to Lymphea… where are you going? Did Baltor give you a secret mission? That bastard” Stormy rattled sparks forming above her.
Icy looked a bit worried, waving that thought off “Baltor didn’t give me a secret mission…”
Stormy eased a bit again “Then where…”
Oh, little sisters are so annoying… Icy thought, Anyone wanna buy her? “I’m… I’m going…” Icy groaned “Fine, I’ll take you along”
Stormy went a little ‘whee’ when Icy started to summon a portal. When she finished she tossed the book aside.
“Where are we going?” Stormy asked like a child.
“We’re going home…” Icy murmured. Both witches stepped through the portal…
-----
The portal vanished when they stepped onto a barren field… “Couldn’t they have teleported at least a little bit closer to home?” Icy complained.
The sky was almost pitch-black, except for the colourful swirls that gave an eerie feeling to the place. One never wanted to be alone outside during the night… not that the days where much better, most of them where foggy, yet surprisingly warm. The sun rarely shone…
An ice-cold wind gusted by, making Stormy shiver. She rubbed her bare arms when she stepped closer to Icy. “So which direction” she asked, her memory failing her.
Icy noticed her younger sister shivering. She remembered the nights here were cold as ice, but she could stand it. She only forgot that Stormy couldn’t. She quickly unclasped her cloak and wrapped it around her sister’s freezing body. It wouldn’t provide much, but enough till they get at their old home…
“I think it’s that way…”
They both started heading north and on the way Icy started explaining what they were doing here… She didn’t really trusted Baltor and she didn’t want to make the same mistake. She wanted to be prepared.
“But how?” Stormy didn’t get where this was going at… And how their home planet would help.
“Before our dear ‘mum’ died, she told me about some scrolls, that belonged to the coven… I believe these scrolls can give us a big enough boost to kick B’s ass if necessary…”
“Oh…” Stormy said, waiting for Icy to continue.
“That’s why we’re going home, she must have left a clue there…”
“So… they are really ours now?” Stormy pondered
“Yeah…”
“Just lying there… waiting?”
“Yeah…”
“Then why didn’t we use them to get the Dragon Fire?”
Icy stopped dead in her tracks, then turned towards Stormy with a weak smile. “I kinda forgot about them”
Stormy slapped her head. “I can’t believe this”
“C’mon we have to get back before the others waken”
After a short while they arrived at their old home. The place was worn, but one day, long ago, it was a mansion that stood proudly over the other houses. The gate creaked when both girls entered.
“This is weird…” Stormy said “This place got very worn out in the last three years…”
“Yeah…” Icy murmured. “Watch your step..” she said while she carefully placed her feet on the wooden steps. When she placed her fingers around the doorknob, the wood gave a loud crack and the door tumbled inside, leaving both witches blinking.
“That’s efficient…” Stormy said pointing at the door.
Icy stared inside their mansion, though the outside looked like their hadn’t been a living person around for a hundred years, the inside looked brand new, like it was only yesterday when they left for Cloud Tower.
Icy swallowed the feeling of melancholy down and stepped inside, Stormy at her heel. In the living room the hearth was emitting a warm orange glow and Stormy quickly rushed past Icy to get warmed up.
“I don’t want to sound sentimental but… It feels good to be here” Stormy said, secretly wishing that things would turn back the way they were, before all the ‘take-over-the-universe’ mess.
Icy felt the same way but was able to hide it better. She stepped over to the bookcase next to the hearth looking if there was something mentioning the scrolls. Off course there was nothing.
“Heh, I’ve never like mom’s figurines” Stormy joked while she eyed the small figures standing on top of the hearth.
“Would you mind giving me a hand here” Icy snapped, but Stormy didn’t listen, her focus still fully on the figurines. “Hey, I’ve never seen that one before” she said reaching out to pick it up. The moment she touched it, the room started to rumble, making both witches feel like dashing.
With a loud creaking noise the hearth fire started to slide sideways, revealing a drafting and dark tunnel. Both witches stood nailed to the ground, staring into the blackness.
“W-was that helpful enough…” Stormy finally asked with a tiny voice.
“Sure was…” Icy said, a smile forming on her face “Let’s get going…”
“Why does it always have to be so cold” Stormy complained.
“Your bedroom is right up the stairs” Icy snapped annoyed “Get a sweater”
Stormy quickly jolted upstairs, not only because she was cold, but also because she wanted to see her old room again.
In the meanwhile, downstairs Icy tapped her foot nervously since Stormy had been up there long enough… She just wanted to go up there when she heard footsteps behind her.
“Man… It was so hard to find something…” Stormy said, pulling the sweater “This was the biggest I had… I’ve grown out of everything” she looked at Icy for approval.
“Especially in the front” Icy snickered pointing at the stretched picture on Stormy’s old sweater.
Stormy looked at her chest and back at Icy, scratching her head in embarrassment “Heh…”
“Real cute” Icy said wiping away a tear from laughter “But it’ll do… c’mon let’s go” she said facing the entrance of the tunnel, ready to enter…
