Zim jumped at the loud thudding sound outside, planting a final kiss on his humans cheek, "ALRIGHT TO YOUR STATIONS!! GIR! GO TO THE VOOT RUNNER AND TURN IT ON! If you do so.... Master will buy you a churro." He tried to bribe the malfunctioning robat as it saluted and ran up the stairs. Zim saw his human shaking as the door was knocked in, pulling out his first weapon fromthe wall.
Inthe door way ther was a tall dark alien, covered in a soft red fur. the male stood to be about eight-and-a-half feet tall, long horns protruding from his skull. Behind hiim flanked three more of the same, only they seemed bigger. the muscles rippled beneath the furry flesh, "Zim, you are here by ordered dead by tallest Red and Purple," he smiled wickedly, his teeth dripping a deep black venom, "And I am here to carry out the orders." They lunged at the Irken.
Zim managedto get 2 shots off before he was tackled to the ground, "Fire Dib!!! FIRE!!!!"
Dib too jumped at the loud noise from outside when the ship landed, growing more fearful as Zim also began to become a bit jumpy. He began to shake as the Irken planted one last kiss on him before facing toward the door to confront their intruders. He called out orders to Dib and Gir and they obeyed readily. Zim had made sure they were stocked with weapons and Dib quickly grabbed one, remembering the training course Zim had put him through to learn how to use them all. He ran back a few feet, hiding behind some furniture as Zim stood out in the middle of the room. Dib was ready on the side lines to shoot as soon as they made a move on Zim. His hand was shaking as he tried to steady himself and aim the gun he had at the door way. When the door went crashing down, Dib nearly dropped his weapon when he saw the giants standing in the door, looking like they were looking forward to killing Zim.
They took no time in stating their orders and attacking the small Irken. Dib took aim as they are tried to advance at once. Zim had managed to hit two of them back although they seemed unharmed by the shots. The last one was on top of Zim in a matter of seconds, trying to wrestle the weapon out of his grip. That’s when he hear the order from Zim, not that he needed to hear it before he was already firing at the third alien. He managed to hit him straight on and the bounty hunter reeled back, grasping his chest which now had smoke raising from it. He looked at the spot from where the blast had come from and glared at Dib who tried to duck behind the piece of furniture in hopes of not being noticed but it was too late. He had spotted Dib and cursed at the human. “Why you little bastard! I’ll kill you and your little friend!” While he was distracted, Zim managed to slip his legs free enough from underneath the body on top of him and kicked his legs out at his chest, sending him off of Zim and crashing into one of his fellow bounty hunters who was now coming to help. Zim was a lot stronger than he looked as he stood up quickly.
Zim took no time in ditching his ruined weapon, "Dib beast! Aim for their flanks!" Zim knew these types, they were Bacloeans, one of the bigger species, but typically not this intelligent. he lokoes up to see a bright red fist come at his head. He dodged it, though not fast enough. The fist caught and dragged the top of his bald head, ripping one of his sensitive stalks from it's spot upon his head. Zim let out a howl of pain; he had had pain in his yddymya before, but nothing compared to having it ripped from his skul. He used his PAK legs and dodged the next blow, grabbing a weapon and firing at anything red that moved.
The battle took for ever it seemed, the Dib battled fiercly and Zim did his best. By the time the Bacloeans went down though, the ohters began to arrive. Parties of Irkens and other such races began to draw their weapons and join the blood bath... "Dib beast!" Zim called from beneath a pilee of bounty hunters, "GO! GET OUT!!! I"LL FIND YOU I PROMISE!" Almost as an after thought zim threw in as the hunter situation began to feel hopeless, "MUJA MEANS LOVE! E MUJA OUI!"
The alien bounty hunters just seemed to come and come. The first bounty hunters that had arrived were hard to take down but they had managed although it nearly took the strength out of the both of them. When Zim’s antennae had been ripped off, Dib nearly lost his lunch as the scream of agony coming from Zim. Fresh blood was dripping from his head as he attempted to get up using his spider lags. Meanwhile, Dib had dropped his weapon and watched in horror until he noticed two of the bounty hunters approaching him. He quickly scooped up his weapon and shot it twice right where Zim had told him to. They stopped in their tracks and screamed in pain. New tears of concern were falling down Dib’s face, staining his cheeks. He jumped out from his hiding spot, not caring anymore what they did to him. With all the strength he had left, he charged at one of the bounty hunters and managed to knock him off balance and send him colliding into the other one. Dib was shaking a bit but more with rage than anything else. Zim shot off a series of blasts from his gun finally hitting his target and taking him down to the ground. Within minutes however, they were swarmed with more bounty hunters than they could handle.
Dib did his best to hold them off firing his weapons randomly at anybody that wasn’t Zim coming near him. When his weapons didn’t work, he charged them, punching and kicking, biting and scratching, and generally doing anything necessary to take them down. Zim was desperately doing his best to fight them off, swinging his spider legs out at them as they began shooting lasers and otheother types of ray guns at them. Zim was getting the worst of it. Within no time he was covered in blood from gashes and other wounds covering him. Dib had been hit a few times and his clothes were covered in blood also. But they continued to fight on no matter how hopeless it seemed. It wasn’t until the entire house seemed to fill with bounty hunters that Zim finally yelled out to Dib telling him to go. Dib finished blasting another bounty hunter and searched frantically for Zim but he couldn’t see him in the crowded room. “ZIM?! ZIM?! WHERE ARE YOU?!” he screamed out in urgency.
Finally he caught sight of the Irken in the middle of a group of bounty hunters that decided to jump him at the same time. He heard the order but his mind didn’t have time to process it before his body wasforcing him forward through a barricade of bodies to reach Zim. With all the strength he had left, he dived at a pile of bounty hunters on the top of the pile and managed to knock them off although it did little to help Zim. He hear Zim bark out the order a second time. This time Dib obeyed, tears falling from his eyes as he made a run up the stairs, watching Zim seem to disappear under all the bodies again. He heard Zim’s last words ringing through his head. “ZIM! I…I…” He choked on the last words. “I LOVE YOU, ZIM! I’LL WAIT FOREVER FOR YOU IF I HAVE TO! SO YOU BETTER COME BACK TO ME! YOU PROMISED!” he said before running the rest of the way upstairs to the room with the waiting ship.
Gir sat inside it and waved when Dib jumped in and started pressing a few buttons Zim had told him topress to take off. “Hi! Where’s Master?” Dib just pushed Gir down into the seat next to him and didn’t answer as he concentrated on pressing the right buttons. “Never mind that, Gir! Zim will catch up with us later! But right now we have to get out of here!” The coordinates were already set and all he had to do now was press one last button to blast off. The room shook and the door burst open as a few bounty hunters approached the ship. “Grab him before he escapes!” one of them yelled out but was cut off when Zim knocked him down from behind, trying to hold the rest off. He screamed for Dib to hurry up and go and Dib pressed the button. The ship shook violently as it floated up into the air. Dib took one last look out the window making eye contact with Zim. Then in a flash, they were goneThe ship took off at an incredible speed, both Dib and Gir screaming as it headed upwards until it broke through the earth’s atmosphere and they were in space. Once the ship had slowed down, Dib sat panting and sobbing to himself. He pulled his legs up to his chest and just cried for the longest time.
Zim had managed to block th ehunters from harming his mate. If ther was one misunderstood aspect of Irkens, it was their ferocity and loyalty to their mates. Now the house was teaming withthe huntersand zim was nauseous from thepain and the blood loss. He grabbed his lastresort weapon from the wall in this hall passage, "If you expect the great ZIm to go down with out a fightyouare mistaken!" He adjusted the weapon and flicked the charges. He wasn't going to let these bastards harm his mate. He looked up at the voot runner thtwas now leaving, catchinga glimpse of hismates tearful eyes as the boy and his bot took off. Nothing mattered anymore then. the onlything he wantedwas to get back to his mate.
With all the chaos around him Zim triggered the firing mechanism. Half his base blew away in seconds ,the other half began to crumble. The majority of the bounty hunters had been taken with the explosion, but there were a few stead fast ones that with stood it, or by sheer luck got free of it. Zim swore a few words that would have gotten him executed on Irk, and continued to battle his hardest against the remaing ones. He managed to take them just about out before one Irken grabbed him, "Well Hello Zim," The male Irken put a mess of pressure on his PAK and pulled his arms roughly to his back, "You know, I could kill you now, but what fun would that be for the tallests?" It was the unmistakeable voice of Larb. He kicked Zim to his knees and put the PAK nullifier on, making Zim useless, "Now we shall see what the tallests want to do with you." He hauled the injured Irken aboard his ship, leaving the last few hunters disappointed.
Zim had passed out soon after boarding the ship, and had no clue how much time had passed since he had fellout of conciousness. When he awoke he was in Larbs ship, tied to the ground.
"Ah, your finally awake. I was beginnng to think that I would have to deny the tallests the pleasure of torturing you. And before you ask you have been out for two weeks." The nasty grin spread across Larbs faceas Zim foundnew pains that had not been there when he fell asleep. "Oh, and Zim, you are a tasty lay when you are out of it." The Irken licked his lips. Zim felt more violated with each sylobal that left the males mouth, so much so that he curled up vomiting, as his conciousness slipped away from him again.
As they sped away in the ship, Dib had caught the sight of the giant explosion coming from Zim’s base and felt utterly sick to his stomach. When they had reached a safe distance, Dib could do nothing else but cry for hours. Gir didn’t know why he was crying and tried to comfort the hurting human but nothing he did seemed to work. Dib didn’t have to heart to tell the small robot what he was sure had happened to Zim. He thought Zim was dead. When Gir asked him why he was crying, all Dib could do was grab the small SIR unit and hug him to his chest. Gir surprisingly enough, allowed him to do this for a few hours, staying extremely calm and quiet, as though he didn’t want to disturb the boy. Dib had no idea how long it was going to take for them to reach their destination but he didn’t care anymore. He was so sure that Zim was dead at this point that he just wanted to curl up and die. If he was lucky, he would starve to death before they reached their destination. When Dib couldn’t cry anymore he just sat where he was with his knees still up to his chest, staring out into space, his eyes in a hazy daze.
Gir had noticed the cuts all over Dib from the battle and did his best to try and bandage up the human but often Dib would just shoo off the small robot. Dib had his arms wrapped tightly around himself as he rocked back and forth every once in a while. A few days passed and Gir tried to get Dib to eat some sort of food but Dib denied it every time saying he wasn’t hungry. Then he would cry again getting very
dehydrated. He barely slept and the few times he did sleep, Gir found a way to at least get some fluids into Dib’s body. It was all Gir could do to keep him alive. He tried
to get some food down into his stomach when he fell asleep but Dib ended up waking up and throwing up everything that had previously been in his stomach which wasn’t much.
About 9 days passed before their scanner picked up the presence of another ship nearby. Dib lifted his head a bit, his gaze still in a foggy daze. It was them. He was sure of it. The Resisty. Gir screamed out happily as he began to press buttons and fly the ship closer to the approaching ship. Dib stayed rooted to his spot, still refusing to move. It wasn’t worth it anymore. She ships came closer and closer to each other until they were right next to each other . A transmission was sent through to
their ship and Gir picked it up momentarily screaming in his usual high pitched voice. “Hi, strangers! Want to come join me and my pig for a picnic?!” He jumped up and
down as he pulled a rubber piggy out of his head.
The inhabitants on the other end of the call gave him a confused look before answering, “Ummm…nooooo?…We see that this is an Irken ship. Tell me, are there any Irkens aboard this ship.”
Gir just smiled stoopidly before giving out a long held out “Awwwww…” His antennae drooped as they attempted to ask him again.
“Tell me, do you know if there are any Irkens aboard this ship.”
Gir just stared at them silently a moment before finally asking, “Do you got any tacos?!”
The alien on the other end slapped a hand over his forehead before trying one last time. He asked the question but was quickly interrupted by Dib who was sitting off to the side. “He doesn’t know anything. Stop asking him that question.”
The other on the screen gave another confused look and quickly asked, “Who’s there?! Show yourself!”
Dib didn’t move from his spot however. “There are no Irkens on this ship. It’s just me and this malfunctioning SIR unit.”
The alien asked again, “And who may I ask, are you? You’re flying around in an Irken ship and yet you expect me to believe that you’re not Irken? That’s there is not even one Irken on that entire ship?” The monitor swung around so the alien could get a better view of Dib. Once he saw that indeed it wasn’t an Irken but a human, he went silent. “Tell me, by any chance, might your name be Dib?”
Dib nodded his head a bit, not even looking up. The transmission then cut suddenly and the sound of the other ship attaching to the one Gir and Dib were in came from outside. The doors opened and they entered the room Gir and Dib were in, carrying weapons just in case. Just then, one Vortian came forward, the leader Dib guessed. “Are you associated in any way with an Irken known as Zim?” he asked. The name burned Dib’s insides. He could feel the tears coming again. “We got a message a while back saying that he had a human that would be in need of our assistance in the case he was unable to escape with him and seeing as how you are the only human for miles, your traveling in an Irken ship, and you seem to fit the description he gave us, we are assuming that you are the human we are looking for but we can never be too careful. If you are indeed him, then Zim should have given you a specific password. Any chance you could tell us what that password is?”
Dib didn’t speak for the longest time. Finally he gave his answer. “Lo…I mean…Muja…” he said in a monotone voice. The leader along with those who followed him on the ship lowered their weapons.
Gir came up to them. “Me and the Big-Headed Boy have been flying through space for a long time. But he won’t eat any of the food I make for him.” he said as he offered the Vortian a plate with some creation of Gir’s on it. “How bout you! Do want to try my food!?!”
The Vortian gave a small disgusted face at the goopy substance on the plate and waved it away. “Ummm…No thanks…” He turned to those behind him and gave them a few orders. Two aliens came forward to help Dib up. He didn’t struggle but he didn’t even try to stand on his own as they carried him onto their ship. They cleaned him up and placed him in a place for him to recover, doing everything they could to get food down him. After many tries they finally managed to get him to keep it down and kept a close eyes on him to make sure he was recovering fine.
After about another 3 days of constant care, Dib had gained a few pounds back and gotten a bit of color back in his face. He was standing after about a day and a half of bed rest but preferred to just sit back and continue to stare into space. Finally, the Vortian leader came to his room to talk to him. “Hello, Dib, was it? My name is Lard Nar. I’m the one in charge of this ship and me and my crew are known as the Resisty. We are a group of different species that have been taken over by the Irken Tallest. Or goal is to overthrow them someday. However, a few Irkens have joined with us to stop their conquest, your friend Zim being one of them. He gave us specific orders to take care of you until he returned for you and that’s what we plan on doing but at the same time we are running a very important operation here so we would suggest that you not make any trouble for us here or else we won’t be able to guarantee your safety.”
Dib spoke for the first time in days. “He’s not coming. He’s dead. So why don’t you just do what you want with me now and get it over with. Kill me, throw me into space, just do what you want with me now. I don’t really care anymore.”
Lard Nar gave him a curious look. “You know for sure? You actually saw him die? You checked him and he had no pulse?”
Dib shook his head. “There was a big explosion right after Gir and I were escaping in his ship. There’s no way he could have lived through that.”
Lard Nar frowned. “A big explosion? I know that bounty hunters were sent after him but that’s not their style. They like to kill their prey slowly with their hands rather than in big fiery explosions that could possible kill them in the process. However, it sounds more like a trap Zim would set. He wouldn’t set it though if he didn’t have a way out. Chances are he survived the blast but just barely. If their were any Irken bounty hunters there, they may have survived it also. Their PAKS would have produced a protective shield. Even if Zim did survive the blast, he wouldn’t have the strength to fight any more after that. Knowing Irkens, especially the Tallest, Zim was probably ordered to be returned back to his leaders so they could torture him before killing him. They are probably on their way back with him right now.”
Dib shot up at the information. “You mean there’s a chance he’s still alive?!” he asked in urgency.
Lard Nar seemed to consider it a moment. “Perhaps but…” He was cut off by Dib. “Then we have to go after them! We have to help Zim! We can’t just leave him to die by the hands of his leaders!” Lard Nar closed his eyes and continued. “We have no way of knowing whether he’ll actually make it back to them. It all depends on his condition. There’s a chance he could bleed to death
before they even reach their destination or other possibilities. And planning an attack on the Tallest take much planning and we may not have that much time.”
Dib cut in again. “I can’t just leave him if there’s a chance he’s still alive! Please! We have to at least try! He’s a fighter! I know if he’s alive he can make it long enough for us to reach and rescue him!”
Lard Nar looked at the human as though he were crazy before finally sighing. “Well, we have been planning one attack on them for the past couple of months that may work. I suppose we could give it a try.” he said as he finally gave into the human’s begging. If their plan worked, they could be done with the Tallest once
and for all.
Zim stopped trying to count the hours and days that took over his life as they floated in the useless void of space. Larb was more cruel after Zim had partially healed, using him as an Irken Vilg toy. He was, in more words, fucked. His only thoughts other than the screaming agony that passed through his mind almost constantly was the thoughts of his human. He knew the rough start was nothing to them anymore. They were lovers, sydat! But the stretches of time onboard Larbs ship seemed to make everything worse for Zim. He had tried to escape his fist solid concious hour, but Larb foiled him and beat him severley. he had tried reasonnig, and even going against his syda instincts to flirt his way out, but it was all for not.
He awoke again in the helpless position that Larb had him in, chained to the invader-turned-bounty hunters bed. The Irken that Zim had know for the better part of his life was thrusting himself inside Zim, and making sure that it hurt. He was pushing himself inside Zim's ass, while one of his pyddma makc were violating Zims sheath.
Zim tried to turn to his side to vomit his displeasure, but his hips were too firmly held into place by his former ally. Zim laid ther helpless, bawling like a smeet. His only hope for these weeks that they floated in space was that the human had found or been found by his allies, the Resisty.
Larb filled Zim with his release, leaving the Irken there to hold himself, shivering and emptying his spooch. Larb released the bonds on Zim, throwing him a small ration pack,"WE don't want the Tallests new play thing to be dead upon arrival now do we?" His sickening grin grew. Zim just weakly nodded and grabbed the food. He managed to sustain himself well enough through those times, mostly on out-dated supplies and piss warm soda, if that. Larb left him to eat in peace, and Zim was thankful. He thought of a new plan to get himself free. The only thing preventing his escape was the jamming disk in his PAK unit. 'If I remove my PAK then I run the chance of killing my self, but then again, it would end this hell. I might also survive to see the Bib beast again..... If I don't then I would have to face the Tallests and deffinately never see my human again...'
Zim contemplated his thoughts for a few days while eduring such torture that Death would have far kinder to him. It was decided. Zim was going to remove his PAK and try to survive long enough to retrieve the disk out an replace it. Larb was doing his bi- daily maintanannce programming, giving Zim some time to 'heal' and 'think about his smart assed mouth'. Zim felt for the swwitches under his PAK unit, finding that all but one would release properly. The last obstanant one wouldn't release, causing him much discomfort. It took everything he had to yank the catch free and not scream in pain. the Jammer had purposley jammed one of the catches, knowing that no Irken would ever be brave enough to harm them selves. The Pak unit was vital, and Zim had just inflicted major injury to his connectors by yanking so roughly.
Zim awaited Larb to finish with his work before starting the racket yet again, though this time it had purpose. He was going to get Larb in there and hurt him.
"Zim Shut your fucking hole before I lose what little mercy I have been saving for you." Larb charged into the room. Zim was ready. he had hidden his PAK beneath the pile of clothing on the floor.
Larb wasn't expecting what happened next. Zim jumped down from above thedoor way, tearing the Bounty hunters Yddymya from their bases. Zim's former fellow Irken fell to his knees, agony was clear in his screams. Zim latched onto the Irkens throat with his teeth, tearingthe soft skin. Larb tried to fight Zim off, but Zim had already one. He clenched his teeth harder, twisting his head as he ripped out he invaders throat.
The Resisty was working on a plan to rescue Zim from the clutches of the bounty hunter he had been kidnapped by. They knew that the bounty hunter was bound to head back to his leaders, the Tallest. They set their coordinates to lock onto the Massive and set signal up all along the path that would lead any and all Irken ships from Earth to the giant ship. They were sure that there couldn’t be too many Irken ships making their way back from Earth to the Armada. Zim had to be on one of them. Lard Nar worked long and hard to get his followers ready for their attack. They had locked onto one ship and were now in pursuit of it, hoping they weren’t too late. Lard Nar was getting extremely annoyed by Dib’s constant nagging. He reassured Dib that they were doing everything they could to rescue Zim but Dib wanted to know more. He wanted to help them with this. He couldn’t just sit back and wait for them to bring Zim back.
He wanted to make sure Zim was okay. Lard Nar kept telling him that he couldn’t help because he didn’t know their battle strategies but Dib didn’t stop bugging him about it. Finally he gave in and had one of the inhabitants on the ship begin teaching Dib their plans of taking down the Irken Empire. Surprisingly enough to them, Dib was a very quick learner and picked up on their battle attacks faster than some who had been there much longer than he had. As the days went by, Dib trained tirelessly to learn everything he could from them. At night, he would sit in the small room they had made up for him and continue to stare out into space. Every single thought that passed through his head was about Zim. He wondered if it was the same for Zim, or if Zim was even conscious enough to think about anything. Every once in a while, his mind would drift to the idea that he may be dead by now and he’d sit up for hours in bed just crying about it again until sleep overcame him. Then he’d wake up and start the process of training again to keep his mind off the possibilities that passed through his mind.
Zim lokoed down at the body of his former capture, Disdain clear upon his face. He grabbed his PAK and sat on the thin matress, atttwmpting to retrieve the disk. He found it nestled in his core systems, attatched to everything he needed to survive. Meticulously Zim began severing the conections from it into his PAK, though he began to feel very weak. The time with out his PAK was vital, he had about 4 minutes tops to reconnect before permanent damage began to set in. A bead of sweat fell down his head as he attempted to finish the process and re-attatch himself to his life suppot. With just seconds left Zim finished and Thrusted the slim lined PAK back onto his back. His connectors saught out the unit, repairing them selves with its help. Zim had dumped the body of the hunter into the void of space, never wanting to see Larb again. Everything was coming together.
Two weeks had passed and Zim found no sign of the Resisty ship. He began to lose hope, burrying himself in the memories of Dib and himself. His thoughts were interupted by a call from the Tallests. Red and Purple were outraged that Zim had killed one of their bounty hunters, that was until he told tham that there were more dead than Larb. At that the Tallests swore to find him and de-PAK him on the spot. Zim simply laughed and told them to try, but they would never find him, he had de-activated the location devices. Zim hung up on them, wondering how his human was. He barely allowed himself anything. With in a month his rationshad ran out and his cola suply was down to less than a can. 'I'm going to starve, I'm never going to see my human again.' He sent out a distress signal on a frequency higher than the massive could pick up.
After another month Zim gave up hope. He was giong to die in his own metal coffin. They would find him nothing more than a space mummy. these thoughts were nothing to him. he tried to remember Dib, butthe lack of nutrition was making him delusional. He couldn't hold a memory for more than a minute, and he would hallucinate that something on the ship was his syda. With what he thought was going to be his last breath Zim uttered one thing,"Dib, so syda..." With that his world turned black and nothing else seemed to matter.
The days turned into weeks and the weeks into months. The Resisty was a slow moving ship and Dib thought they would never catch up with the ship they were pursuing. Things only got worse when they realized they had lost the one signal they needed to keep going. They tried endlessly to re-establish their link but were unable to find anything. They continued along their way to the Massive, just hoping they would run across the ship along the way.
Dib had been devastated when he was told they had lost their only clue as to finding Zim and stopped his training to sit back in his room and cry to himself some more. He refused to eat anything again and locked himself up in the bedroom. This depression lasted an entire week before a small group of aliens was finally ordered to blast down his door. They found Dib laying in his bed, extremely pale and once again unable to stand. He had given up all hope of ever finding Zim now. They carried him back to their medical bay to get him on fluids. This time he hadn’t even been drinking anything at all cause Gir had been locked outside of his room. When they tried forcing him to eat he struggled against them, telling them to get away but they weren’t about to just let him die.
They restrained him and made him eat the food they offered him. That is until one day they managed to pick up a new signal. It had been the distress signal Zim sent out and they were less than 4 days away from it. It was very weak and they figured that it had been sent out quite a while ago but it was still sending out signals to all the surrounding areas. The Resisty almost didn’t catch it at first but one of the members in charge of the controls to the ship noticed the small change in frequency and quickly informed Lard Nar. Lard Nar told them to shift courses and follow the signal. Dib could here a ruckus outside the door to the room he was in as aliens ran about shouting out orders. He managed to pick up what one of them was saying and knew immediately that it was Zim. He was still tied down to the bed because they feared he might be suicidal so he started calling out to anybody that would listen to him. Finally, a female nurse came up next to him. Her skin was a light shade of blue and she had long almost tentacle like dreadlocks falling about her head like hair. She smiled at Dib. “Please! Can you tell me what’s going on?!” he asked as he continued to struggle.
She answered simply. “Well, we’re changing courses because they just picked up a distress signal that’s only about 3 or 4 days away from us. They think it may be the ship we were chasing after earlier before we lost the signal.” Over the course of a few days, she had been taking care of Dib and grown to like him although he seemed a bit insane. She undid his restraints for him and allowed him to sit up. He quickly began to undo the ones around his legs and stand up although he didn’t have nearly enough strength to stand on his own yet. The nurse offered him something to use as a crutch and he steadied himself so he could make his way to the front of the ship where Lard Nar was usually.
Lard Nar looked up from his work and watched as Dib stumbled toward him. “Who said you could leave the medical bay? It’s obvious your still not mentally or physically ready to be out of bed.” He said as he stood up to force Dib back to bed if he had to. Dib shook his head quickly. “Nobody let me out. I let myself out.” he lied. He didn’t want to get that nurse in trouble with Lard Nar. “I need to know. Did you really pick up a distress signal? Is there a chance that Zim is still alive?!” he reached a hand out to shake him a bit.
Lard Nar looked at the hand before turning his gaze back to Dib and making eye contact. “Listen, human. I don’t want you to get your hopes up too high. There’s a chance it might be Zim but whether he’s still alive or not is beyond our knowledge. That distress signal has been going for the past month. It may be too late but we’re at least look into it. Now I suggest you let go of me and get back to bed before I have one of my men force you back.” he said as he removed Dib’s hands and told one of the technicians on board to help Dib back to medical bay.
Dib didn’t argue and allowed them to take him back. The next couple of days were excruciatingly long for him as he watched out the window in hopes of seeing the ship soon. Finally he noticed a small chip far off in the distance that was definitely one of the bounty hunter ships. He yelled out to the nurse, who came and helped him to his feet. He had agreed to start eating again a few days earlier so they no longer restrained him and he had the strength to once again walk but not very far. She helped him up and he shakily made his way to where Lard Nar was.
Lard Nar already had see seen the ship and was picking out those that would be sent aboard to check out the ship. “Alright, men. We have approximately 7 to 8 hours before we come close enough to board that ship. We don’t know what to expect so I want you to be ready with weapons when we board. Remember, we are looking for Irken Invader Zim. So I want those who have ever met him to go first so you can identify him if need be. We don’t want to be shooting at the wrong Irken.” Dib was listening and reached a hand out to Lard Nar who had his back turned to the human. He turned to face the boy.
“Please. Let me go aboard with them. I have to know if Zim’s on that ship and if he is I need to make sure he’s okay. Please.”
Lard Nar looked him over, locking eyes with the human a moment. He seemed about to tell the human that he was still too weak to go aboard but when his eyes started to water up he sighed and told one of his techs to get Dib a suit and weapon and then show him how to use it. Dib was overjoyed to hear he was being allowed to board with those going on. The strength that had left him seemed to return quickly as they got him fitted with a suit that would help him breath in space. He learned quickly how to fire the weapon and was placed in the front of the group so he could identify Zim if he indeed was on the ship. They came closer and closer to the ship until finally it was time for them to board.
They had to force the door open because when they tried to send a signal through all they got was static. They cautiously stepped in the ship and looked about. The place was a mess and the place seemed abandoned. They checked all the rooms until they finally came to the last room: the bedroom. They opened the door and the first sight they laid their eyes upon was the small and skinny figure of Zim curled up on the bed. Dib quickly ran over the lifeless form, dropping his weapon and screaming his name. “Zim. Zim! ZIM! ZIM?!” he screamed out each and every word with even more urgency than the last. He shook the Irken gently as others began to crowd around him in the small room. “PLEASE, WAKE UP, ZIM! YOU PROMISED ME YOU WOULDN’T DIE! YOU PROMISED ME! YOU…YOU PROMISED…”his voice grew softer as he began to break down into tears again and hugged Zim closer to him. He didn’t seem to be breathing.
Zim faintly felt something, a touch, a voice perhaps? Something that made him need to survive. 'But what is the use. Dib must be a million miles away by now...' Zim thought to himself. A realization dawned upon him, 'If I am dead, how am I thinking?' The sensation of touch grew stronger, and yes, there was a voice, faint as it was, it was there. 'I have to move... I might need to escape.... but that voice... it sounds like...something familliar.. Something I should know....' Zim tried to move, but only hurt himself more. he wanted the voice and touch to know that he was alive still. He felt something, then nothing. no touch, but the voice, it grew stronger and louder. Zim was desperate, 'Do something!!! Some one is here to help you!!!!' Zim forced motion, though it may have been his imagination.
He thought that he might have goten out a name, some one close... some one important. It had to be someone he needed. Zim felt a cool warmth against his face, only barely registering that it was a tear from his own eyes. He had to do more. He had to let the touch that was gone and the voice that still screamed know he was alive and needed help desperately, with that he frocedsomething, using his last bit ofenergy he vocalized one last time in a desperate attempt to get that touch back and sooth the voice thatmade his heart hurt, "dib...diiiiiiiiiib". he felt a cool rush of air in his lungs as he tried to say more, "Dib.....no....here....gone....muja..............." with that his energy was spent. he heard the voice grow frantic again as the touch returned with friends, more touch than he remembered.
Dib had been sobbing on Zim for a good 15 minutes getting no response from the Irken at all. Finally, one of the others in the group with him reached out a hand to Dib. “Listen, Dib. I know this must all be really hard for you, but we can’t stay here all day. We can take the body with us and plan a funeral for him if you want.” the alien offered him a sympathetic smile. Two others in the group moved forward to help Dib up and all he could do was hold his hands over his nose and mouth as he sobbed more into his hands, repeating Zim’s name over and over again, and they began to lead him away back to the Resisty’s ship. Dib had nodded his head in response to the funeral idea as he let them begin to lead him back to the ship. That’s when he heard the faint voice. It was calling out to him. Calling his name. Quickly he turned to face the body on the bed. He pushed those helping him back out of the way and ran back to Zim’s side to press his ear to Zim’s chest. The others with him hadn’t heard the faint call and looked at him like he was crazy and tried again to help him up but this time he told them to be quiet and stay away from him. They stayed still for about a minute, nobody even attempting to breath in that moment. Finally he heard it. The slightest heartbeat from the body.
Dib shot up and told some of those with him to go and get a medical team ready to take care of Zim. He was alive but just barely. A few ran off to do what they had been told to do while others stayed where they were, unwilling to believe he was actually still alive. He ran one of his hands over Zim’s face and stroked it as gently as he could, his own tears now falling onto his face. Suddenly, he heard a loud gasp for air and the others with him turned to face the Irken. They quickly came back up closer to the limp Irken. He forced out a few words that made no sense to any of them except Dib and they quickly surrounded him to help the gasping alien up. 6 aliens picked Zim up, two at his legs, two at his arms, and two near his stomach.
They hauled Zim into a small stretcher that was brought and hurried him inside their ship to the medical bay. Dib stayed nearby, holding his hand the entire time in a tight grip and saying comforting words to him. “Please, Zim. Just hang in there! You’re going to be fine! You’re going to make it! You have to!” he repeated himself over and over again as they reached the medical bay and two med techs quickly began assigning him different amounts of medication and liquids and ordered others to bring a much food as they could. They had to get food and liquids down in him. Dib never left Zim’s side during the whole ordeal and he stayed close by late into the night. He never wanted to leave Zim’s side ever again. Once Zim was stable, he was placed in a bed where a nurse came to check up on him every 15 minutes throughout the night to make sure he had enough liquids or food in his body to keep him alive until he woke up and was able to eat on his own again. They offered Dib a place to sleep but yet refused and stayed in a chair near Zim’s bed the entire night, not wanting to sleep in case Zim woke up.
Zim felt new sensations, a few were painful, a few weren't. One that he hadn't known for the longest time was warmth. everything was warm and soft, except what was in his hand. There was something in his hand and he couldn't figure it out,it was warm, squishy, hard all at once. 'Dib beast. My syda. I couldn't find you. Zim is so sorry. Zim has failed his syda, and lost his muja.' the thoughts that ran through his head and out his mouth faster than he could stop it. In his mind he could see his lover, the beautiful human with his big head, weird hair, and those captive amber eyes. Zim felt the tears roll down his face, unable to eb the flow. "E muja oui Dib, I muja oui ymfyoc.' again the thoughts were subconcioussly vocalized, and the tears flowed. The mental Dib was crying, saying that Zim had broke his promise, that Zim had left him.
