Chapter 7)
Lily had gone to every store she could think of. She spent hours considering all the options for an appropriate gift to give to Mitsuki as an apology. Nothing she had seen seemed to be what she wanted. She wanted something special. Something that would show Mitsuki what she meant to Lily. Something as unique and beautiful as Mitsuki is.
Lily was about ready to give up. Nothing she saw in any of the stores was what she was looking for. With a dejected sigh she decided to just forget about the whole thing. She walked down the street, heading back to the apartment. She passed by the stores she hadn’t bothered going into, looking through their windows, hoping that she just might find something.
Something caught Lily’s eyes. It was a ring. It was a gold ring with small rubies and sapphires lined along the band in an alternating pattern, with a beautiful, flawless diamond. The diamond was twice the size of the other gems, which where embedded into the ring itself. It sat at the top of the ring, gleaming in the light, as though it were beckoning to Lily.
Lily walked up to the shop window to get a batter look at it. She had never seen a ring like it. What’s more it was in this tiny little shop. The place looked run down, no one was in it save for a little old lady standing at the counter. Lily entered the shop and went to the counter.
The inside of the shop looked worse than the outside. The carpet was faded, the paint on the walls was chipped, and the whole place had that ‘old person’ smell. Ignoring the unpleasantness of the store, Lily approached the old lady who was obviously the owner.
“Excuse me, how much is that ring in the window?”
The old lady blinked, “And which ring would that be?”
“It’s the one with the rubies, sapphires and the diamond.”
“Oh yes, that ring was hand made by my husband. Its price is 90,000 yen (A/N about $966.42).”
Lily sweatdropped, she didn’t have that much money. Her shoulders slumped in disappointment. She turned to leave the store when the old lady spoke up again.
“Now don’t be in such a hurry. I forgot to mention that everything in my store is half price.”
Lily took a few minutes to register what she had just heard.
“Half price? Are you serious?”
The old lady nodded, “I’m afraid so. My store is going out of business. I just can’t compete with those big department stores that keep popping up over night. I’ll even throw in a free engraving on the ring if you like. My son will do it nice and quick for you.”
Doing the math in her head, Lily realized she could now afford the ring with some money left over. She purchased the ring, and took up the old lady’s offer for the free engraving.
After leaving the store, Lily went straight back to the apartment. She could only hope that Mitsuki wasn’t still in that bad of a mood. He had only been gone a few hours but that didn’t mean that Mitsuki had forgotten about earlier that morning. Lily approached her apartment door and cautiously knocked.
Mitsuki opened the door and immediately shut it seeing who had knocked. Lily knocked on the door, louder this time.
“Mitsuki, please let me in! I need to tell you something.”
The blue haired actress swung the door open so forcefully that it almost broke off of the frame. She glared at Lily in a way that would have scared Ozu.
“There is nothing to say Lily! You hurt me Lily. You hurt my feelings, you tried to hurt me, and worst of all you didn’t hesitate to do it or even show any remorse! You’re dead to me Lily!”
Then Mitsuki noticed the shopping bag in Lily’s hand.
“You went SHOPPING?! After everything you did earlier you went out and shopped?! I give up. I thought I knew who you were but it’s obvious I was wrong. Just get out of my life. I never want to see you again you…you bitch!”
Mitsuki’s words cut deep. Lily wanted to cry but restrained herself. She couldn’t let herself be weak at a moment like this. She pushed the bag into Mitsuki’s arms.
“I did go shopping. But it was for you! I bought you a gift to apologize. I had no right to do what I did. I’m really, really sorry.”
Mitsuki stared at Lily, not sure whether to trust her or not. After a moment she reached into the bag and pulled out a ring box. She opened the box, and inside was the ring.
Mitsuki gawked at the piece of jewelry. She couldn’t believe that Lily had actually bought this for her. Then again she was surprised Lily could afford something like this. All of her credit cards had been maxed out last week.
“Lily? How did you buy this?”
“With the money I’ve been saving.”
“Your whole savings?!”
“Not all of it, there’s enough left for me to treat you a nice dinner. That is if you can forgive me for what I did.”
This was a shock to Mitsuki. She could not recall a single time since she had met Lily where she had seen her do something so unselfish. If Lily was telling the truth, she had spent nearly all of her money on a gift to show Mitsuki that she was sorry.
Mitsuki looked at the ring again. It was unlike anything she had ever seen before. There was no doubt in her mind that if Lily had gone through the trouble of buying something so expensive, then she must be very sorry. And if Lily was willing to go so far to apologize, then Mitsuki felt the least she could do was give her a second chance.
“Look on the inside of the band, Mitsuki. I had it engraved.”
Mitsuki tilted the ring o she could look at the inner side of the band. She searched and saw a small engraving. It read: L & M.
“L and M?”
“The first letter of both our names. Lily and Mitsuki. I thought you’d like it since we’re best friends. We are still best friends right?”
Mitsuki let out a sigh, “Lily. Of course we are. It’s just that you really hurt my feelings earlier. I actually thought you hated me.”
“Mitsuki I could never hate you. And I really am sorry for what I did. Forgive me?”
Mitsuki sighed again, “Lily I can’t just forgive you like that. It’ll take a little time for me to get over what you did. But I am willing to give you a second chance.”
Lily pulled Mitsuki into a hug. “Thank you! I promise I won’t ever do it again. I’ll treat you with all the respect you deserve.”
Mitsuki returned the hug. She was happy that things were turning out ok. It really seemed that giving Lily a second chance was the right choice. The two pulled away from one another. That’s when Lily did something Mitsuki did not expect. She pulled down her panties and laid herself across Mitsuki’s lap.
“Lily what are you doing?”
“I treated you pretty badly earlier. Shouldn’t I be punished?”
Now Mitsuki was confused. Lily wanted to be spanked? Was she up to something? No, that didn’t make any sense. How would being spanked benefit her? Mitsuki decided not to ask any questions. She raised her hand and brought it down with a hard smack against Lily’s ass.
Mitsuki gave Lily a total of ten spankings. She went easy on her because she felt that Lily had learned her lesson already. The only reason she was punishing her was because Lily felt she deserved it. She let Lily get back up and pull up her panties. She then gave the blonde a hug.
“It was very sweet of you to go and spend nearly all your money for me on that gift. And I’m sorry I was mad at you. To make up for it you can stay in my bed tonight.”
Lily once again returned the hug and then the two separated.
“Okay, so were should we go for dinner?”
Mitsuki thought for a moment, “Hmm, why don’t we just walk around downtown until we see someplace that looks good.”
“Sounds like a plan. Ready to go?”
“Just one second I want to put your gift in a safe place first.”
Mitsuki ran to her room and quickly put the ring into her jewelry box. She then ran back to Lily and the two went out.
TBC.
Sigh, only a couple chapters left. It’s about time I got back to work on this story.
