PLEASE READ THE LITTLE EXCERPT BELOW BEFORE READING THIS CHAPTER!!!!!!!!!!!!
READ THIS! READ THIS! READ THIS! READ THIS!
The only thing you should know about this chapter is that most of it comes from the episode “The Waterbending Master” in season 1. I did this because the most crucial parts of this story will center around some parts from the show and I believe “The Waterbending Master” has some important parts and if I don’t tie it together with my story it will become inconsistent. So some things will be word for word. Other then that enjoy the story.
Chapter 7
The air was cold and glaciers could be seen sticking up out of the dark blue ocean water.
“We’re almost there,” said Aang as he steered Appa around the glaciers.
Katara sighed and looked out into the distance, “I hope Sokka is okay.”
“Yeah, I wish we could search for him. It feels weird not having him around,” replied Aang sadly.
Katara turned to Aang with a determined look in her blue eyes, “Sokka wanted us to safely get to the North Pole. His sacrifice was for us. Let’s make this trip for him.”
Flashback
“Sokka! Sokka, where are you?” called Katara as she walked through the thick underbrush. Just then she spotted a piece of torn blue cloth hanging from a branch and gasped.
“Aang, come quick.”
The young Avatar appeared beside Katara and the young waterbender held up the piece of cloth.
“It’s Sokka’s. Something must have happened to him.”
“Look,” said Aang pointing through the trees into a clearing.
They both clambered through the bushes into the small clearing with a flowing stream. The area was littered with burn marks.
“Sokka, was captured by the Fire Nation,” said Katara as tears began to well up in her eyes.
“We have to find him,” said Aang as he began to leave the small clearing.
Katara turned and looked at the Avatar and said, “Aang, wait; we have to keep going to the North Pole.”
“What? Why?”
“Because I made a promise to Sokka at the beginning of this trip.”
“A promise?”
“Yes, He said that if he should ever be captured by the Fire Nation to go on without him.”
“Why would he do that?” asked Aang sadly.
“Because he knows that you need to learn all four elements to fight the war and rescuing him will take up time when you could be learning.”
“But…”
“Come on Aang. Let’s go to the Nroth Pole,” said Katara as she clenched the cloth in her hand.”
Aang nodded and followed her out of the clearing.
End Flashback
Just then large chunks of ice shot up form water. Katara screamed and Aang tugged on the reins forcing Appa around the obstacle. More ice shot up at them but they were caught by surprise and Appa went down into the water, the water instantly freezing around him preventing him from moving.
“We’re trapped,” said Katara.
Just then boats appeared from behind the glaciers and Katara saw that they were wearing familiar blue outfits.
“They’re waterbenders. We found the Water Tribe.”
Zhao stood in front of a giant map that displayed all the nations of the world. Six men in official Fire Nation robes sat at a low table all staring at the general waiting for him to speak.
“He’s heading north; the Northern Water Tribe. The Avatar needs to master Waterbending. He’s looking for a teacher.”
Just then a man with a long gray beard and hair spoke up, “Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go get him.”
General Zhao turned to the man and said, “Patience Captain Li. This isn’t some little Earth village we can just march into.”
Zhao began to walk around the room; face devoid of all emotion as he discussed his idea.
“The Water Tribe is a great nation, there’s a reason why they have survived one hundred years of war. The frozen tundra is treacherous; the landscape itself is an icy fortress. We’ll need a massive invasion force.”
He stopped and looked back at the small group of commanding men a sadistic smile on his face. “Also I would like to have a talk with our dear Prince Zuko.”
Katara and Aang sat at a table made of ice; platters of food were spread out before them. The Northern Water Tribe was holding a feast in their honor, people cheering and the sound of the taiko drums filled the room. However, the two travelers did not feel like celebrating. Just then the leader of the Northern Water Tribe, Chief Arnook, stood causing the room to fall silent.
“Tonight we celebrate the arrival of our sister from the Southern Water Tribe. And she has brought with her someone very special; someone who many of us believed disappeared from the world until now. The Avatar.”
More cheering was heard and Aang waved with a small smile on his face. The leader sat down next to Aang and noticed the sullen looks on his two guest’s faces.
“Both of you do not seem happy to be here. Is there something wrong?”
“Oh no. We are very happy to be here,” said Aang. “We have been traveling for a long time and have faced many dangers to get here.”
“However…”
“It’s my brother,” said Katara. “He was captured by the Fire Nation on the way here.”
“I am so sorry,” replied Chief Arnook.
“We are extremely worried about him and we want to find him,” explained Aang. “but I have to master Waterbending first.”
“I understand. Then let me suggest our strongest Waterbender; Master Pakku. He teaches all the students here and is renowned for his skills.”
Aang nodded and said, “Thank you, sir.”
Chief Arnook placed a comforting hand on both children’s shoulders and said, “I’m sure he’s alright; if he is from the Water Tribe he undoubtedly a strong warrior.”
“He is,” replied Katara smiling sadly.
End chapter 7
I am getting closer to writing some serious Zuko/Sokka action and that is what is exciting. So look forward to that in the upcoming chapters.
