THE COUNTRYSIDE
The sun was high in the sky, as Shan Yu reined Khan to a trot. They had been riding non-stop for most of the morning and well into the afternoon, it was time to give her horse as well as themselves a break. Shan Yu slid off the saddle first then assisted Mulan. “I can get down Shan Yu. I do know how to ride a horse.” Mulan said as she dismounted lightly from the saddle. Annoying.....Shan Yu began in his head. Mulan stretched and knelt before a stream of water. She drank eagerly from the stream.
Shan Yu sat cross legged by the stream. They had stayed off the main roads, sticking to the unpaved ones instead. It would be awhile before they figured out that they would have to hunt the back roads and dense thickets to find him. Shan Yu was familiar with this landscape. He knew all the unpaved roads, hidden caves and other secret ways to reach his village. It would give him at least a two day advantage. But that didn’t mean they should meander either. Once the soldiers realized he was outside the range of their scouting abilities, they would send the Special Troops. The ones who had initially captured him. And then, Shan Yu and Mulan would have to move fast to keep ahead of them.
“Are you hungry? I packed some food.” Mulan offered rummaging through her saddle bag. She had packed supplies? How long had she been planning this? “I was wrong about you Mulan. I thought this was a spur of the moment thing. But apparently, you’ve thought this through.” “Actually. It was a spur of the moment decision. The food was supposed to be for you. I hadn’t realized I would be coming.” She said popping some dried fruit into her mouth. “I couldn’t leave you to face them Mulan. I knew what they’ll do to your family. To you, for helping me.” She nodded her head.
“It’s alright. I know you’re protecting your people.” She said softly. And you Mulan! Don’t forget that. But Shan Yu did not voice that to her. At the time, his decision to bring her had been spontaneous. He looked at her and just decided she was coming along. Nothing else had entered his thoughts at the time. Mulan slumped down next to him. Her knees propped up. “I use to love riding in the hills near my home. I would do anything to get away. Errands in the Town. Looking for a stray chicken or cattle. Running messages for my father. I would find ways to do my chores quickly so I could have time to myself. Like this one time. I had to feed the chickens. So I tied a piece of bamboo to my dog, with a bone on the end of it. Then I tied a feedbag to the end of his tail.” Shan Yu chuckled, forming a mental image in his mind.
“Of course. It didn’t go as well as I thought. The dog spilled chicken feed everywhere. By the stables, in the garden. My father was not pleased and made me pick up every piece. But at least the chickens got fed. Of course, I was late for my appointment with the Matchmaker.” Shan Yu raised an eyebrow. “Matchmaker?” “Yeah. She is the woman you go to when a man wants to find a suitable mate.” “Really?” Shan Yu said with a sly grin. “Its horrible! You have to wear these silly dresses. Put this paint on your face! And recite these ad-mo-nitions!.” Mulan said in a mocking tone “And she walks around you, shaking her head. She said I was too skinny! That I wasn’t good for bearing sons!” Mulan complained.
Shan Yu did not want to be impolite. But it was getting difficult to contain his laughter. “You should see her? She’s fat! She’s bigger then you. Who is she to judge me? And why can’t I choose my own? How does she know who is right for me? Why does how I pour some stupid tea decide for a man I am his?!” Shan Yu remained silent. Her society was complex. And it was apparent, that her mother hadn’t given her that Mother-daughter talk. So she was not experienced to understand the ways of men and women. Especially in her world. Although to some extent, they had a matchmaking of sorts too. But the women of his lands did more of the choosing then the men. A priestess once smirked and called it Women’s magic. She said it was the only weapon a woman had against a man. At the time she had told him, he had been very young. But now, he understood it. “I didn’t do so well though.” She said angrily shuffling the dirt with her boot.
She placed her chin on the tops of her knees and pouted. “I couldn’t remember all those ad-mo-ni-tions-so I wrote them down on my arm.” Shan Yu marveled at her cleverness. “But the woman thought I was cheating so she grabbed my arm and got ink all over her hand. When she rubbed her face, she got ink on it. But she didn’t notice it.” Snorts of laughter slipped out of Shan’s mouth. “But it gets worse. I was pouring-the-tea-.” Mulan said in a mocking tone. “And a cricket got into the cup.” Mulan gave Shan Yu a sour eye. He was holding his sides and snickering into his hand. The snickering growing louder and louder. A cricket? Where did that come from?
“I tried to warn her but she wouldn’t listen. Then I tried to get the cup so she wouldn’t drink it, but that didn’t work. We started playing tug-of-war with the tea pot." Shan was imagining the scenario of Mulan and a woman nearly the size of he, fighting for a tea pot. "She slipped and fell onto some hot coals. She was jumping around and shouting. “Put-it-out-Put-it-out." So I grabbed my fan and tried to blow it out. But that made it worse. Then I threw the tea at her. Well, that did the trick. But she was.......”
Mulan stepped as a deep throaty laughter interrupted the rest of the story. Shan Yu was slapping his leg hard, his deep chest rising and falling. His hands gripping his sides. His head tilted back in a full bellow laugh. He fell over with laughter. “You think that’s funny?!” Mulan said angrily. “Because of her. I am a disgrace to my family. I will not be a bride to any man and I will never bring my family honor!” Mulan turned away. She did not want Shan Yu to see her crying.
“Mulan?” Came the whispered prompt. Strong arms wrapped themselves around her tiny frame. “I’m sorry Mulan. I didn’t mean to laugh.” “I ran away from home to help you because it was the right thing to do. And you ended up helping me. I can’t even do something simple as pass the matchmaker’s test without something going wrong. What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I be like other women?” Shan Yu pressed his cheek against hers. Strands of hair tickled his nose.
Because you’re not like other women Mulan. You have been chosen from the beginning by the spirits. They have touched you. You have been selected to perform a destiny that will require more strength then you can possibly imagine. What you are going through now is preparing you for the destiny that will soon enfold. Shan Yu did not tell her that. She would not understand. She would have to figure it out for herself. As he had too. But he knew about this.
He had run across a few people who had been touched by the spirits. They were marked as different from their own people. They were often wiser and smarter then their own. They had an awareness of a larger world.
His sleeve had grown damp from her tears. “Mulan.” He said softly turning her around. “Look at me. You are on the verge of something great. The universe has something better for you. Something far beyond the cares of the ordinary world. You should celebrate this.” “But what about My father? My mother? People will dishonor my family?” People touched by the spirits followed their instincts. They may not know all that was wrong, but they could feel it. A stirring that something was wrong inside. Something so strong, that it separated one from the rest. They would not have a normal life. They would not understand it, until their destiny unfolded. Shan Yu tightened his grip on her shoulders. He could see the discomfort in her eyes. Good! He had her full attention now.
“Your father was a powerful soldier during the Great Hun Wars. I doubt anyone will be criticizing him. And I think he understands that you are different. He showed great foresight when he had you educated. Not to mention the courage to defy tradition. I think your father understands you better then you think. He will handle it. And maybe, you’ll meet someone that is truly worthy of you on your journey. Do not cry Mulan. Your life has yet to begin.”
“I’ll meet someone?” She asked shyly looking into his eyes. Uh Oh? Shan knew that look. I wish it could be me Mulan. We would have such adventures! Shan Yu grinned at all the ways he could of taught her. The sun dipping behind the peaks, suddenly garnered his attention. They had to keep moving. He had to find shelter before it grew dark. His keen eyes probing the dense trees for a familiar growth or formation that would mark a known cave or boulder cluster. He turned back to her. He wanted to say something to her to soothe her bruised spirit. He sensed her spirit had been through enough. But nothing crossed his mind.
“Get your horse. We have to keep moving.” He ordered. Mulan quietly saddled up Khan. She quickly mounted Khan. For a moment, an image of having her mount his thick cock flashed through him. He could feel heat build up within him as he continued to picture her rocking and swaying her slender hips in time with his gently thrusting hips. Her creamy, lithe, saddle strong thighs, locked around his waist as he stroked her with a deep and steady rhythm. Her sighs and moans filling his ears while he pleasured her. Shan Yu quickly shook the thought free. He smoothly mounted behind her.
I am not for you Mulan! He thought sadly to himself.
