Breakout
Just as they had banked on, the two mechs heard the cell door open as they laid there in apparent unconsciousness. But the whine of their hydraulic pumps as the ‘deactivated’ mechs increased their internal pressure in expectation of action, was lost on the stupid Guards. The slight warning they were given went unnoticed. Patiently, they waited until the guards were dragging them down the corridor, then both mechs exploded into action.
Ultra Magnus threw his two guards against the bulkhead. With his hydraulic pressure as maximum he swung at the nearest guard. Smashing his fist through the open jaws of the closest one, his punch was so powerful that his hand went straight through the guard’s head and into the wall. With his other hand, he grabbed the guard’s weapon, bringing it up to bear on the other guard in a seamless motion. Before he had even extricated his fist from the dead guard’s head, he sent a laser coursing through it’s fellow’s chest, causing that guard to split in half, sinking to the floor in a puddle of spilled energon.
Kicking out at one of his guards, Cyclonus merely ripped the other one into pieces with his bare hands. Tossing the pieces aside like aluminum cans that had been shredded. The first guard struggled back to its feet and blindly rushed the Decepticon. A wicked smirk on his gray face, Cyclonus grabbed its arm. Using the guard’s own momentum, he slammed the Sharkicon’s head right through the opposite bulkhead. The guard’s feet kicking harmlessly as he struggled to extricate himself. With a disgusted snort, Cyclonus side kicked him with the full force of his hydraulic power. His foot hit the helpless guard square in his codpiece, forcing it right through him and into his chest cavity. His kicking ceased immediately as he off-lined in agony.
“Damn, that’s gotta hurt,” Ultra Magnus smirked as he gave Cyclonus a wink. Of all Decepticons to be partnered with in a fight – he was darned glad it was this one!
“Hmmmm, that’s no where near the end to my revenge,” Cyclonus snorted as he glanced at the damage he’d done. But his lust for vengeance was far, far from satiated!
Collecting the guards’ weapons, the two warriors ran towards the engine room of the Quintesson cruiser. Their powerful strides of equal length as they covered the ground with an efficiency of movement not normally seen in mechs… Their optics were full of fire, but yet, calm and down to business. They knew where they were going and what they were going to do. And nothing would stop them!
As the locked doors of the engine section came into view, Ultra Magnus swiftly transformed and rammed it at full speed, creating a gaping hole where the door had once been. Cyclonus leaped over the transforming Autobot, grabbing the first guard that he could, heaving it easily above his head, and tossing the unlucky guard straight at his fellows. Before the guards have even scrambled back to their feet, the Autobot was back in robot mode, rushing them, side-by-side with the imposing Decepticon.
Too stupid to realize they had no chance, the Sharkicons transformed, going after the two with the sharp teeth of their shark modes. But this left them very awkward in their reactions, as Cyclonus merely put his hands together, Ultra Magnus not even breaking his stride as he placed his foot in the Decepticon’s hands. With ease, the powerful purple mech hefted the big Autobot into the air, the momentum causing the big blue mech to sail effortlessly over the Sharkicons. He twisted his frame and landed lightly in a ready crouch behind them. His optics gleamed in battle lust as he began to destroy the closest Sharkicons.
The guards couldn’t turn around, for the powerful con was now upon them, putting his fist straight through the nearest ones snapping jaws one-by-one. Ripping their heads right off their shoulders, as he impaled his hand and then lifted up, jerking the Sharkicons with a force their alloys weren’t made to handle. Their remains went sailing through the air as he shook them off like pieces of old tires.
Those that the purple mech didn’t reach suddenly found themselves spinning backwards through the air, as the big Autobot grabbed their unprotected tails and with a great spin, threw them towards the anti-matter engines. They sailed through the air, crashing right through the protective shields of the engines, several penetrating the very anti-matter cores themselves, their chassis disintegrating into small fragments.
Two Sharkicons managed to lock their teeth on one of the blue mech’s arms and legs. Slamming his free fist down on the head of the guard locked on his leg, Ultra Magnus put his fist right through its hard armor plating. Twisting his hand inside the guard’s head, he grabbed a handful of what had been its CPU. Pulling his fist back out, he threw the destroyed circuitry straight into the face of the guard latched onto his other arm. The sharp, twisted fragments pierced the optics of that guard, causing it to relax its jaws in pain and shock. Taking that split second of opportunity, Ultra Magnus twisted his arm free of its grip, smashing his foot straight through the optic sockets of the blinded guard.
Spinning his entire chassis, Ultra Magnus tore himself free of the jaws of the now-dead guard locked on his leg. Using the corpse as a step, he used the powerful hydraulics in his legs, to leap high into the air, narrowly avoiding the snapping mauls of several shark-mode guards. Coming down fast, he ended up straddling the back of an unwary Sharkicon; the strong mech grabbed its broad head and twisted it off in a singular motion. Jamming the unattached head into the gaping mouth of one of its fellows, he spun and kicked out at two more. Causing those to fly backwards, crashing into the next line of guards.
As several Sharkicons ended up inside the anti-matter cores, it began an over load reaction within the engines. The remaining Quintesson frantically started the shutdown sequence, desperate to keep the cruiser from blowing. He found himself spinning in the air, as Cyclonus leaped to the control station and grabbed him by his tentacles.
“We’ve got to shut them down! We’ll all be blown into nothingness!” the five face wailed as he hung helplessly upside down.
With a cold hardness in his brilliant crimson orbs, Cyclonus merely laughed. “You will be blown into nothingness, not I!” then he smashed his foot through the controls as he enjoyed the sensation of ripping the Quintesson’s tentacles off one-by-one, the creature’s agonized screams only adding to his enjoyment. His purple chassis swiftly became coated with the spray of the five face’s organic blood. Finally, there were no more tentacles to rip off, so Cyclonus threw the Quintesson down on the floor in disgust, and put his foot straight through the creature’s face of death. Effectively ending its life, as its jelly-like body popped like a water balloon, coating the purple mech in another layer of organic goo.
Ultra Magnus shot at the group of guards coming into the engine room. Glancing up at the Decepticon he realized that Cyclonus fully intended to let the cruiser explode, which was fine for a galactic flyer like the con, but would leave a ground mech like himself in quite the fix. He didn’t have much time to contemplate on his own potential demise, for the Sharkicons were coming at him en mass.
Jumping down next to the Autobot, Cyclonus eagerly rejoined the battle against the Sharkicons, his anger not nearly satiated yet. Working together they ripped apart several Guards between them, the Sharkicons having little chance against the powerful mechs working in concert.
They could both hear the increasing frequency of the overloading engines, the ominous sound of pending explosion. It grew louder, as the overload began to build, the safety systems now failing to contain the reaction.
“I believe we need to be leaving soon,” Ultra Magnus stated, as he swung another dead guard back at its fellows.
Cyclonus nodded, glancing at another corridor that would lead them to the exterior bulkhead of the cruiser. “Follow me Ultra Magnus,” he ordered, and ran toward the exterior bulkheads of the cruiser.
As they fled, they passed some of the organics who had used them. They were screaming in fear. Screaming for them to help them escape. Ultra Magnus’s spark went out to them, his Autobot programming tried to force him to stop.. To help them.. But then a powerful hand wrapped around his arm. Cyclonus turning his torso even as he ran, aiming the laser at the organics… His optics full of murderous rage as he fired.. Barely missing Magnus’s helm…
The corridor behind them filled with a ball of fire. Screams of the injured and dying resounded from the bulkheads - blended with the horrifying sounds of licking flames and anti-matter engines overloading. The stench of burning organic flesh filled their olfactory sensors, following them as they fled..
“Cyclonus!” Ultra Magnus yelled in disbelief over the con’s cruelty.
“Silence!” the purple mech yelled at him as he continued to drag him behind him.
Starting a retort, Magnus’s words were cut off as the sound of charging Sharkicons could be heard over the dying screams of the organics. Glancing behind them as they ran, he stared in horror as the Guards slaughtered the remaining organics as they pursued the two mechs. Lifting the gun, he blindly allowed Cyclonus to lead his feet as he kept the Sharkicons at bay with continual laser fire. Making it to the bulkhead, he kept guard on Cyclonus’s back as the Decepticon concentrated his laser fire on the heavy metal plating. The bulkhead blew out in a rain of shrapnel.
“Come,” was all Cyclonus said, as he transformed and dove out of the gaping hole.
Ultra Magnus barely had time to grab one of the Decepticon’s wings, keeping their afts covered with laser fire toward the cruiser.
The Decepticon flew as fast as he could, desperately trying to get out of range before the anti-matter engines exploded. Suddenly, the cruiser dissolved in a beautiful ball of pure white energy, the shock wave spreading like a rock dropped in a puddle, swiftly catching them, and blowing them both further into the cosmos.
Trip to Safety
Ultra Magnus slowly rebooted his systems still in shock from the huge blast that had overtaken them. As his optics reactivated, he realized that his hand still had a death grip on Cyclonus’s wing. Counting his blessings, the Autobot slowly turned himself so that he could scan the Decepticon’s fuselage for damage.
“Are you functioning?” he asked the purple Decepticon, his hands running along some damage on the flyer’s wing, trying to gauge how bad it was.
The Decepticon grunted as he slowly rebooted. “I am functional,” he stated; the pain evident in his deep voice.
Glad that the con was still functioning, but wondering if he’d find himself left out in the cosmos, Ultra Magnus pulled himself closer to Cyclonus. Carefully, he worked some shrapnel out of the purple mech’s wing. Then moved to the other wing and worked some more out, as gently as he could.
By now the Decepticon was fully awake, doing an internal systems check as the Autobot cleared the shrapnel from his fuselage. Done with the check, the purple mech decided on their logical course of action. “Get in” he ordered the ground mech, opening the canopy to his cockpit.
Not wanting to argue, and chance having Cyclonus strand his chassis out in deep space, Ultra Magnus quickly pulled himself in. Finding a seat, he settled his bulk and made himself as comfortable as he could be – inside a Decepticon.
“We will go to one of the gambling outposts, and land unseen,” the Decepticon’s deep voice informed the Autobot. There seemed to be an odd tone to his voice. Almost one of regret…
Ultra Magnus relaxed as his hydraulic pressure stabilized slightly. That’s when he noticed the smell of himself and Cyclonus. The fact they’d been around, and used, by organics would be very obvious if they returned to their respective camps with this type of odor. “Perhaps we should help each other remove the residue?” he offered.
The Decepticon considered this idea as he flew on. There was no way that he would ever go to Hook for a flush of his bonding systems. The medic would blackmail him with the knowledge that he’d been with organics! The Autobot must be thinking along similar terms. “Agreed. What has happened is best left between us,” he replied.
‘Between us’, Ultra Magnus thought. Yes, there’s so much now between them. So much that he didn’t know how he’d feel fighting the mech once again. “Any chance you’d consider switching sides?” he asked in a hopeful tone.
“Hmmm, as much chance as you switching allegiances,” Cyclonus replied.
Magnus slumped slightly, looking out Cyclonus’s clear canopy at the stars of the Cosmos he sighed at the sheer irony of it all. “You know, it’s truly depressing that a mech finally finds a suitable mate, and a damned civil war keeps them separate,” he muttered.
Banking port, the purple flyer briefly flamed his afterburners. Then he shut off his engines to conserve energy as he let his inertia carry them to their destination. He did feel the same way as Magnus about the situation they were in. But it was – unavoidable. But they didn’t need to go back to their factions – immediately. “I have yet to win our little competition. I demand my turn after we have performed the necessary maintenance,” he purred.
Ultra Magnus shifted his optics from the Cosmos to the instrument panel in front of him. Arching his optic ridges up in surprise, he considered the con’s words for a moment. Then a devilish gleam filled his blue optics. “Indeed. You really believe you can surpass me?” he snorted as he teased the mech.
“Prepare to lose the game, Autobot scum,” Cyclonus chuckled as he teased back.
Ultra Magnus grinned as desire flooded his optics. He couldn’t wait until they got to the outpost. Couldn’t wait………
