Disclaimer: I do not own Gargoyles/Disney related but the original character, Eve Anderson, is from my own mind and is not a character of Disney. I get no pay and am only doing this for fun |
Eve flinches away as something rough brushes her cheek. It touches her again, this time nearly tangling in her hair. She groans, pushing the offending tongue away from her. “Samuel! Seriously!?!”
The cat trills back, stepping back up to her and cleaning her face again. She pushes the cat harder this time, nearly sending him off the bed. She sits up, glances at the clock, and sighs heavily. The cat has woke her up 10 minutes before the alarm was set to go off, just like usual. “If that damn cat wakes me up that way again, I will not be liable for my actions.” Owen grumbles behind her, finally rolling away and sitting up as well. “He bathed you too?” Eve chuckles and stands, walking towards the bathroom. “Of course, although I fail to see why he believes I need one.” Owen rubs at his face, trying to wake up more. “Because he thinks you are an errant kitten that needs help.” Her voice echoes from the bathroom. “Just wait til he thinks you can’t hunt well and tries to bring you ‘gifts’.” “He already has.” He walks to the bathroom as the shower turns on. “I found 3 kush balls, 5 fake mice, and 2 milk rings on my chair and desk yesterday when I got in.” Eve laughs as she steps into the shower. “Yep. You are now a part of the little family he has made and need lots of help in his eyes.” Owen steps into the shower behind her, hugging her close for a moment. “Perhaps but I do not need the early morning wake up call.” She laughs, turning enough in his arms to kiss him. “Perhaps you don’t but I do. I don’t do mornings well.” He reaches behind her and grabs the shampoo. “I will keep that in mind and wake up earlier so I can come up with creative ways to wake you from now on.” She leans into his hands as he begins to lather her hair. “So how mad are you about me not contacting you before the police?” “As I have told you before, I am controlling.” He sighs and starts rinsing her hair. “But I did give it to you with the knowledge that you would do everything necessary to finish it.” He leans over and places a soft kiss on her shoulder. “I will learn to deal with you not checking in with me first.” She snorts, grabbing the conditioner before he can. “Which means you are pretty pissed.” “I am working on it.” He takes the bottle from her, setting it down as he watches her step back into the water. “I know.” She squeezes the excess water from her hair as she steps out of the water again. “Time to learn how to separate work from home.” He pulls her close again. “I promise to try to stay on my side of the castle if you stay on yours.” She rolls her eyes, knowing it won’t work. “Yeah right!”Eve sits behind her desk, doodling abstractly on a piece of paper as she considers the information in front of her. She had hoped the Gargoyles would stay out of sight while she was gone but according to the reports, her hope was unfounded. A few of the reports were too late to head off, having already made it into the tabloids. The rest she knew she could make go away as just kids pranking adults if she played her cards right. The sound of her phone going off interrupts her thoughts and she nearly growls in frustration when she opens the text.
Please kindly inform your mangy cat that I do not eat rat for lunch. Owen Eve stares at the enclosed pic of a dead rat laying across Owen’s desk in shock. When the shock wears off, she begins giggling and her fingers fly over the keys. Tell him yourself. But at least he was thinking of you kindly and wanted to share his ‘kill’. From the size of it, I’m sure it could feed several people. Perhaps he is trying to tell you we need to call in some exterminators. Eve Miss Nolan pokes her head in the door, the sounds of Eve giggling alarming her. “Is everything ok?” “Super.” Eve leans back in her chair, grinning from ear to ear. “Apparently Samuel left Owen a little rat present for lunch on his desk.” “EW!” Miss Nolan scrunches up her face in disgust. “That’s horrible!” Suddenly she grins. “Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Good for Samuel!” Eve picks up her phone as it starts to vibrate again. They have already been called. Perhaps I can chop it up and make it into a wonderful stew for you for dinner tonight. Owen Eve makes a disgusted face. “Ick! He says he’s making it for my supper.” “And on that note, I’m heading for lunch.” Allanna frowns, trying to get the image of rat on a dinner plate out of her mind. “Need anything?” “After that?” Eve groans. “I don’t think so.” “Ok. I’ll see you in an hour.” She waves at Eve as she walks out. Eve looks down at her phone, an evil grin blossoming. No sex for you after that mental image! Eve Her phone immediately vibrates again before she can put it back down. You may rethink that when I come to bed tonight. Owen She chuckles and sets the phone down, deciding to let him and Samuel work things out on their own.“I’m sorry to disturb you, Miss Anderson.” Miss Levine pokes her head in the office door. “There is a James Coyote here to see you.”
Eve looks up and glimpses a tall, lean, dark haired man on the other side of the doorway. Feeling uneasy, she looks closely and sees fine lines holding a glamour in place. She looks deeper and nearly jolts at what she finds. She tries to look calm as she smiles up at Miss Levine. “Would you please inform Owen he is here? Mr. Coyote has a proposal I’m sure he will be interested to hear as well.” “Of course.” She smiles back at Eve. “When would you like him to come in?” “Make the call and then show him in.” Eve begins putting papers back in folders as Allanna steps back out to handle Mr. Coyote. Eve feels a soft vibration coming from her necklace and realizes it is growling low and menacingly in the quiet room. She gently strokes it, calming the dragon before anything more can happen. She looks up at the sound of someone entering her office, her fingers still stroking the necklace. Coyote’s eyes follow the path of her fingers, waiting until the door is shut behind him to speak. “So this is the little queen everyone is worried about. You look like a harmless human to me.” She waves her hand and a force pushes him backwards and into a chair. Hiding her fear, she smiles and leans back in her chair. “Human, yes. Harmless, however, is a mistaken assumption. What is it you want?” His lips twitch up as he mimics her stance. “Party trick, Little Queen. You haven’t impressed me yet.” The door opens and Owen steps in, his eyes traveling over Coyote before fastening on Eve. He senses her fear but sees she is fine. Closing the door behind him, he glances at Coyote again. “I wondered how long before you would come slinking in.” Coyote shrugs. “There are a few of us who have ignored his summons. They asked me to see if she is worthy.” He lifts a brow as he appraises Eve. I see nothing worth the effort so far.” Owen bristles but steps around the desk, putting a comforting hand on Eve’s shoulder. “You do not see deep enough then.” She reaches up, twining her fingers in his and bracing herself as he opens the bond to her. She feels his power coiled tightly and ready to strike at the slightest provocation. She sends back calmness, feeling him relax against her. “What exactly is he talking about?” Coyote watches in fascination, a grin spreading across his face. “So it’s like that is it?” Owen slightly inclines his head, sending Coyote into peals of laughter. “About time, Old Man! I will spread the word. Are the other rumors true as well?” “The sanctuary, foals, choosing and bonding are all true.” He gives Eve’s hand a gentle squeeze. “I have heard nothing else.” “I see.” Coyote’s grin turns mischievous. “So I should tell everyone your beautiful bond mate is still on the market? Or is the wedding not just a rumor?” Eve sighs, leaning her head back so she can glare up at Owen. “Please tell me everyone related to you is not going to start showing up?” “They won’t.” He glances down at her and gives her hand another squeeze. “The wedding is private, Coyote, and anyone not invited or trying to interfere will find themselves on the wrong end of my temper.” “What about her temper?” Coyote winks at Eve. “Worse than mine, I am afraid.” Owens lips twitch up. “Just ask Nalyah.” Coyote raises his hands in surrender. “I see that is true as well. Cousin you have my word I will not interfere.” He eyes Eve again. “Perhaps there is more here than I thought.” He stands and walks around the desk. Dropping to one knees in front of Eve, he bows his head. “I am yours, Little Queen.” He looks up at her, grinning. “Only a good queen could tame my cousin. I respect that.” Eve glances up at Owen for reassurance before laying a hand on Coyotes’ shoulder. “Stand before someone sees you and starts to ask questions.” She waits til he has returned to his seat again before softly sighing. “So now what? Do you need some kind of proclamation from me or something?” Coyote chuckles. “No. I am yours to command. You can use me as you see fit or allow me to roam. It is up to you.” “Decisions, decisions.” Eve drums her fingers on the desk. “I’m sure I will think of more later but for now try not to cause anyone harm. Test the waters with other like yourself and let me know only of those who would wish me harm.” “I can do that.” He stands, nodding at Owen. “I will keep in touch, Old Man.” Eve sags as Coyote leaves as quickly as he had arrived. Owen sit down on the edge of her desk, smiling down at her. “You did well and have earned his respect.” “Goody for me!” She growls back sarcastically. He leans forward, brushing his lips against her forehead. “Relax, My Dear. He will make sure no one tries to come sniffing around. He is a good ally to have.” Eve glances out the window and sees Allanna raising an eyebrow at them. “Keep that up and there will be rumors flying around here that you might actually like me.” He chuckles, sliding off the desk and heading for the door. “Let them.” He opens the door and nods to Allanna as he walks past.
