Kevin took Ben to his favorite burger joint and they were soon enjoying themselves again. Laughing and having fun. They then went to Mr. Smoothie and met up with Gwen or were supposed to meet up with Gwen it appeared as if she'd passed out because she wasn't there and wasn't answering calls or texts. They decided they didn't care and were just going to enjoy each others company.
Julie wasn't pleased she was now tailing Ben and Kevin. It was clear that they were on a date. How could Ben do this to her?! Hadn't their time together meant anything to him? She was so upset by this confirmation.
She continued to follow them and watched as them and Gwen got on a shuttle with Ship and their parents. She frowned but then saw people in uniforms. She knew the uniforms to be Plumber uniforms. So they were doing some Plumber business? She wondered if she could join them. Anything to spend more time with Ben.
Ben hugged Ship.
"I missed you, buddy." He told his pet. Ship licked his cheek hyperly. "You missed me too, huh?" He laughed. "Well, it was Gwen's fault she was supposed to meet us at Mr. Smoothie."
"I fell asleep!" Gwen snapped. "I'm shocked you two are still going." she sighed, "How was your date?"
Ben blushed deeply at once. He slugged her arm and ducked his head. Their parents had come with them again though he wasn't sure why.
"We ran into Julie." Kevin growled. "and cheerleaders from Ben's school at the put put golf course. They were quick to catch on that we were on date when Ben told Julie that Ship was with you. Julie was the only one who had seemed to have a problem with it. The cheerleader were actually very accepting and supportive."
"I'm starting to hate her more and more." Gwen groused. "She's the one who broke up with Ben and now she's acting like it didn't even happen."
Ben shrugged he didn't know what to say really he didn't remember any of this. He would just take their word for it. He was suddenly feeling very tired and was glad when they arrived so he could curl up and go to bed. Though he wished he was bunking with Kevin and not Gwen. He was soon fast asleep clinging to Ship.
They woke once again to the trumpet and fell in for breakfast. After eating and going on his run Ben felt better and was looking forward to facing the day and learning as much as he could.
In Combat class after being told like twenty times that he wasn't allowed to use his powers he, Gwen and Kevin completed a course in record time with the best score. His mind had quickly kicked in and supplied what they needed to do. He was shocked when Gwen and Kevin had listened to him and did what he said. They'd praised him afterward.
"I need to help you with your shooting though." Kevin said, shaking his head.
"I'm sorry." Ben said, instantly. "You aren't hurt are you?"
"Nah." Kevin replied. "My arm was still metal when it hit me no harm done."
Ben still felt bad though. Gwen was pleased with their grade in the class.
"That's not fair!" A fellow student cried out. "The three of them are already a working Plumber unit! I saw their badges and everyone knows who Ben 10 is!"
"They do?" Ben asked in a whisper.
"We're kind of famous in the Universe." Kevin answered him. "and when did this guy see our badges none of us have brought them out."
Ship began talking hyperly leaping out of Max's arms and into Ben's. Ben listened and was soon frowning.
"What do you mean he went through our things?" Ben asked Ship. "When?" Ship spoke quickly. "Ship says he can blend in with shadows and used his skill last night to sneak into our bunks and look through our things."
"I'm so warding our bunks." Gwen muttered. "Why didn't I think of that before?"
"KEVIN!" Devin grabbed his son's arm shaking his head.
Kevin growled but jerked his arm away his eyes showing fury it towards the guy who'd gone through their things. That guy had been so close to Ben, Gwen and Ship and he hadn't known it. He hadn't been able to protect them. What if that guy had meant to hurt them? He was furious and mostly at himself. He calmed himself when he saw Ben and Gwen both watching him.
"I got it." he told them. "I'm good."
"I'm mad too, Kevin, but if Ship knew this then he could have protected Ben and me." Gwen informed.
This did relax Kevin who nodded and petted Ship.
"Yeah, you're right." he conceeded.
The guy in question was now getting scolded and was told that he'd lost points towards becoming a Plumber.
"Is it true?" someone asked. "Are they really Plumbers already?"
"Ben, Gwen and Kevin were made Plumbers in a time of emergency. " Max informed. "They are here to properly earn their badges."
This seemed to settle everyone but the Shadow guy who still stated that this was unfair.
Ben stretched his arms over his head and his back popped as they left their second to last class of the day.
"Ugh, who chose this class?" Kevin asked. "It's way too easy."
"I wanted a math class and this was the only one we could take." Ben said, "I'm sure we'll test out of it. I mean this is like the most basic math on Earth isn't it?"
"Yeah." Kevin nodded.
"I need to be challenged." Gwen whined. "Must be challenged."
"Okay, then here's what you need to catch me up on." Ben said when they got to study hall.
Gwen perked up. Teaching Ben wasn't the challenge she'd had in mind but she'd take it. Maths 101 was way too easy and boring and she hoped they tested out of it soon. Honestly, who didn't already know to do Maths on the most basic of levels? She began her tutoring and gained four levels in the skill before they were released. She was pleased by the outcome. They'd finished all of their Plumber homework and gotten Ben pretty far in his make up homework. Ben was now reading a book for English class.
"So did you two kiss?" Gwen teased Kevin while Ben was busy.
"No." Kevin replied.
"You didn't kiss Ben on the first date?" Gwen sighed shaking her head. They were whispering together so that Ben didn't hear them. "Risky move, Kevin."
"I think it would be even risker to kiss him this soon." Kevin whispered back.
"Are you scared?" Gwen asked, seriously.
"No." Kevin replied blushing. "Of course not!"
Gwen began teasing him mercilessly while he glared and growled at her.
"How many chapters did you get?" Kevin asked as they got off the shuttle.
"5." Ben replied, "I can't say that I'm enjoying it though and I was only supposed to read one but i thought the sooner I finish it the better."
Kevin laughed a bit and said good night to everyone as he and his parents got into his car.
"Kevin, can we please talk?" Devin asked.
"Get out of my car." Kevin said, in an even tone.
"Kevin." His mother said, in a soft pleading voice.
Kevin growled to himself and just started his car and put it in gear.
"This is a nice car." Devin tried. "Where did you buy it?"
"I built it." Kevin grunted. "I built Ben's too."
"You must be very talented." Devin tried. He cursed internally when the conversation lagged. "I know my opinion means nothing to you but I accept your relationship with Ben Tennyson."
"You're right your opinion means nothing to me, old man." Kevin stated.
Devin sighed. He wondered if he'd ever be able to connect with his son. He knew that Kevin would not be pleased when he heard that he was moving home and he was right. Kevin sped off as soon as they were out of the car.
Ben opened his eyes and sat up frowning. He smiled when he saw Kevin coming in his window.
"Kevin?"
"Can I stay the night?" Kevin asked, in a low whisper.
Ben blushed but nodded.
Kevin took off his shoes and socks noting that Ben's room was actually clean. He glanced at Ben then pulled his shirt off. He watched Ben go red and try to hide his face only to surface seconds later to stare again. Kevin slid in behind Ben and wrapped his arms around him. Ben snuggled back into him. Ship yawned widly then wimpered.
"Night." Kevin whispered in Ben's ear and felt the younger teen shiver in his arms.
He smiled to himself. This was great. Ben finally being his and allowing this. He wondered if Ben hadn't lost his memory would they be where they were right now. He laid his head against Ben's and closed his eyes somehow he doubted it.
Kevin woke to Ben's alarm going off and quickly got up. He cursed he'd meant to be gone by now. He was glad he'd parked down the block.
"My parents don't come in to wake me up." Ben told Kevin, grabbing his arm. "If you leave now my dad will see you."
Kevin looked out the window to see that this was true. He quickly put his shirt on though. He watched Ben get dressed as he put on his socks and shoes. It was clear that Ben was shy about it. Kevin's eyes took in everything they could Ben had nothing to be shy about. He shook his head and looked out the window again.
"Is your mom up?" he wondered.
"She should be leaving soon as well." Ben said, "She decided to get a job because she's been bored at home. We'll eat breakfast together once she's gone?"
"Yeah." Kevin nodded, and sure enough watched her leave.
They went downstairs and Ben cooked eggs, and got them some fruit. They ate then Kevin drove them to Gwen's where she was waiting.
