Disclaimer: I do not own Invader Zim, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
A/n: First off, I'd like to say a huge thank you to Heather, who took the time to track me down on AIM and tell me how much she liked this story. She's the reason I'm posting another chapter. Second, I'd like to explain the title of this chapter, to avoid any confusion. An “autopsy” is ALWAYS performed on a human. A “necropsy” is one performed on an animal. Therefore, one performed on an alien would be called a “xenopsy”. Feedback is, as always, greatly appreciated, so please rate and review! ~ FA

Red and Purple looked up at the screen of the Massive, rolling their eyes. “Oh great, another transmission from Zim.” Red said.
The screen filled briefly with static before clearing to a shot of Zim in his lab. “My Tallest, I send this transmission as a last resort.”
“What is he talking about?” Purple asked Red. “Zim, what are you talking about?” He asked the screen, before Red could say that he didn't know either.
“My Tallest, I beg you to allow me to abort my mission here. The human stink-beasts are onto me.” Zim's red eyes were shifting nervously from side to side and he looked ready to jump out of his skin. “I fear what they'll do if they capture me.”
“Nonsense!” Red declared pompously. “An Invader never leaves their mark until it is conquered, Zim. Request denied.”
“Please...” Zim begged, holding out his hands in supplication. “Please, My Tallest, reconsider!”
Purple opened his mouth to ask why Zim felt he was discovered when suddenly there was a huge crash from off-screen. A human suddenly appeared on the screen and began to fight Zim. Zim's spider legs emerged from his pack and the human drew some sort of long, pointy metal weapon.
“Give up, Zim!” The human screamed, lunging at Zim while the Tallest - and the other Irkens aboard the Massive – watched. “You're finished!”
“I'll never surrender, Dib!” Zim screamed, jumping back out of Dib's range and slamming into the transmitter as he did so. “NEVER!”
Suddenly the transmission cut to static and everyone on the bridge of the Massive screamed. “Quiet, everyone!” Purple said, waving his hands authoritatively. “I think we can still hear them!”
And they could. There were screams and crashes and, occasionally, a flash of visual could be seen through the static. Zim was obviously fighting for his life. The Irken crew on board the Massive, including the all-mighty Tallest, watched the battle in horror.
Suddenly, there was a bloodcurdling scream and then – silence. No one on the Massive moved an inch; they stood, frozen, watching the static that filled the screen. Suddenly, the image kicked back in. The human they'd seen attacking Zim was now standing over the Irken. Zim was glaring up at him from a large, metal table where he was laying, strapped down.
“You will tell me everything.” The human hissed, raising a small, but sharp-looking piece of metal. “Everything.”
“I'll tell you nothing, filth-beast!” Zim spat, defiant despite his obviously-losing position.
Those aboard the Massive cringed in sympathy as Dib made a long, shallow cut down the center of Zim's chest, shredding the Irken's uniform and leaving a thin line of blackish-blue blood on Zim's chest. Purple whimpered as the screen when static-y again and they could no longer see. They heard Zim's screams of pain mixed with the sound of vicious, human laughter.
Zim's screams continued for a long while, mixed with promises that the Irken Armada would avenge him and more laughter from Dib. The few short bursts of visual were glimpses of sharp, dangerous, and painful-looking instruments and blood. Even the Tallest were looking away and wincing in sympathy. Zim was suffering for the sake of the Irken Empire and no past mistakes could make him deserving of the horrible end he was meeting as they watched.
Finally, Zim's screams stopped. The visual cut back in one final time. The human, covered in Irken blood, was standing over the broken body of Zim. As the crew of the Massive stared at the screen, horrified, the human looked right at them.
“Listen well, Irkens.” He said, letting them know that he was perfectly aware of all that they'd witnessed. “Zim swore you'd come to avenge him and I say now, I dare you. Set one foot on my planet and you will share in the same fate as your fellow Invader!”
The transmission cut out. Everyone on the bridge turned to look at the Tallest. It was Purple who finally spoke, much to everyone's surprise. “Invader Zim is dead. We will erect a monument on Irk in his memory; he died honorably on a mission for the Empire and he will be long-remembered for it. We will not EVER go to that awful place called 'Earth' where they tortured our fellow Irken. Zim would not have wanted us to die as he did.”
The crew and Red nodded, turning the Massive towards Irk so they could oversee the construction of Zim's monument.
