The sound of her alarm clock going off woke Icy from a deep sleep. The first thing she noticed as she drifted upward out of confused and fading dreams toward full consciousness was that her body felt weird. She had patches of soreness and numbness all over. What the hell could have happened to her to make her wake up feeling like that? The next thing she realized was that she was lying on her side. That was weird. She never slept on her side. About then she began noticing that she was pressed up against something warm and she felt something soft in her hand. She gave a gentle squeeze. Breast. There was a breast in her hand and it wasn't her own. She was sleeping with another girl. A delicious smirk spread across her face as she felt the other girl squirming against her and heard her moan in response to having her breast squeezed. A sleepy, sultry voice drifted back over the other girl's shoulder.
"Mmmm... Turn off the alarm clock, will ya mom? My stomach hurts this morning."
Mom? The strangeness of that comment made Icy open her eyes. Directly in front of her she saw a mass of light brown hair. With that clue she was finally able to place the faintly familiar voice and figure out who she was sleeping with. It was that beautiful enchantress she'd met yesterday. Darla? Dicey? Something starting with a D, she was sure. So she'd managed to bag the enchantress. Why didn't that sound right then? Why didn't she remember that?
From across the room she became aware of another sound. Something was growling. No, someone was growling, starting out low but gradually building in intensity the longer she listened. Icy rolled over and reached out to fumble with her alarm clock until she found the off switch. A moment later the rising growl switched over to an annoyed sigh as whoever it was drifted back off to sleep in the sudden stillness.
As the buzzing blare of the alarm clock cut off Darcy found she could think a little clearer through the sleep fuzz clouding her brain. A number of things began to register. The bed didn't feel right, and she noticed she wasn't sleeping naked the way she usually did at home. That meant she was somewhere else. So then where was she and whose bed was she in? And who had she heard growling from across the room before the alarm clock cut off?
She rolled over and pried her eyes open a crack. She caught a glimpse of white hair before the owner rolled back to gaze at her through half-closed ice blue eyes. Oh yeah. It was that girl, the freezer queen. What was her name again? Bethany? No, Icy. That was it. She didn't like being called Bethany.
Darcy sat up and immediately regretted it. Her head started pounding and her stomach muscles all seemed to want to cramp up on her. She swung her legs over the edge of the bed and sat there holding her head with one hand and her stomach with the other, trying to remember how much she'd had to drink last night. The funny thing was she didn't remember drinking anything at all. So why the hell did she feel so bad?
Seeing the other girl sit up Icy followed suit. Her head swam with fatigue and her body ached all over. Again she wondered just what had gone on last night that left her in such terrible shape. Blearily she glanced over at the enchantress.
"Hey, you look like hell."
Darcy glared at the ice witch, then winced as she discovered that glaring was not such a good idea when she had a headache.
"You can talk. You look like you got stomped by an ogre. What the hell happened to us last night anyway?"
A sleepy grumble drew both girls' attention to the occupied bed of the pair across the room. Icy felt her anger rising as she remembered who was in that bed and the memory of last night came flooding back to her.
"She happened to us. Our new roommate, Little Miss Sunshine over there. She fried me and punched you in the gut."
Darcy kept her hand on her stomach as she slipped off the bed and worked on standing up.
"That sure explains a few things, like why I feel like I've got a hangover when I haven't touched a drop. I don't remember how long I lay there awake last night waiting in case she decided to try something else."
Icy got out of bed somewhat gingerly herself, watching the enchantress cautiously pull herself upright.
"You gonna be okay there?"
Darcy gave the ice witch a grin that was perhaps more of a grimace.
"Sure thing. Nothing a nice hot shower won't take care of."
Icy stretched and rolled her shoulders, trying to get back more of the feeling in her body.
"Sounds good to me. Think I'll grab one too."
A coy grin spread across Darcy's face.
"Wanna save water and share one?"
Icy's heart started hammering in her chest while her mouth, and other parts, started watering at the thought of sharing a shower with the beautiful enchantress. Still, the thought of leaving herself that vulnerable while their other roommate was in the next room just didn't seem like a very good idea at the moment. She shook her head regretfully.
"Nah, think I'll pass. Saving water really isn't my thing. Besides, I don't think it's such a hot idea for both of us to be off our guard while she's around."
She jerked her thumb in the direction of the bed where the storm witch slept.
"You go ahead and take yours first. I'll stand guard in case the psycho wakes up."
Darcy gave the ice witch a warning look.
"Well, okay. Just promise me you won't start a fight!"
Icy gave the dark enchantress a bored wave of her hand.
"Yeah yeah, fine. I promise I won't start anything."
Darcy gave her a relieved smile and headed off to take her shower. Icy watched her roommate's hips sway in her easy, graceful manner until she disappeared behind the bathroom door, then turned to scowl at her still slumbering roommate.
"I didn't start this, but by the ancestors I damn well am gonna finish it!"
She paused to consider her next move. A simple Ice Coffin didn't send a strong enough message in this case. This would require something a little more personalized. Icy smirked as the perfect revenge occurred to her.
She walked over to the bathroom door and was surprised to discover not only was it not locked it wasn't even shut all the way. Evidently privacy wasn't a high priority for the enchantress. Icy pushed open the door and walked in. She could hear the shower already running and just make out the shape of the sultry dark witch shampooing her hair through the frosted glass. She was tempted to stay and watch the show but she had a mission to accomplish.
She turned to the sink and turned on the cold water. Next she formed a bowl of ice in her hands and held it under the faucet until it was fairly full. She set down the bowl long enough to turn off the tap, then picked it back up again and carried it out into the bedroom.
She walked over to the storm witch's bed and stood there a moment, looming over her slumbering roommate with a sadistic grin.
"Rise and shine Sleeping Beauty!"
The sudden downpour of icy cold water as Icy up-ended the bowl jolted Amanda awake thrashing and screaming. She lunged out of the bed and landed sprawled at Icy's feet, her blankets still half tangled around her legs. She looked up and was enraged to see the ice witch standing over her with a sadistic grin, the empty ice bowl in her hands still dripping. Icy leaned over her imposingly.
"Consider that payback, bitch!"
Stormy struggled to her feet, kicking and tearing at the entangling blankets, her soaked lingerie clinging to her slender body like a second skin. The cold caused her nipples to stand straight out, making the eyes of the kitten on her teddy bulge out in comic fashion.
"Hrrahh! You're dead!"
Icy made a 'Come and get me' gesture with one hand while she held onto the bowl with the other.
"Go ahead loser. Take your best shot."
Amanda stood with her legs braced apart and her clenched fists raised at her sides.
"Hhrrrooooh!"
The second she powered up her spell she could feel that something was wrong, but as furious as she was she simply didn't care. All that mattered was wiping that smug look off the albino-haired witch's stupid face. She flung out her hands to cast her spell, but instead of lashing straight out at Icy the lightning twisted around and snaked its way back up her arms, arcing from one bead of moisture to the next, ripping through her flesh until it felt like her entire body was on fire. Amanda shrieked in rage and torment for the full second that her spell lasted, then collapsed to the floor, unconscious. Icy stood over her twitching roommate with a look of sadistic glee.
"What a moron. I can't believe she fell for that! Everyone knows that water conducts electricity. She should have seen that one coming."
Feeling pleased with herself, Icy turned and headed back into the bathroom, hoping there was still time to enjoy some of the free show her other roommate was putting on. What she saw instead left her stunned speechless. Darcy was out of the shower, standing there on the bathmat in all her glory as she toweled herself off. She looked up from drying her legs, seeming quite unconcerned about this invasion of her privacy.
"Hey Icy. What was all that noise out there just now? It sounded like something exploded in our room."
Darcy's words helped Icy remember herself enough to stop gawking and actually answer the question, though she couldn't quite tear her eyes off the enchantress's lovely nude form. She gestured vaguely behind her with one hand.
"Huh? Oh, that? Our roommate had a bit of an ... um ... accident, that's all."
Darcy frowned as she casually wrapped her towel around herself.
"Uh huh. And did this accident happen to have anything to do with you and that ice bowl you're holding?"
Icy glanced down in surprise to see the bowl she'd made still dangling from her left hand. She forced her fingers to open, letting the bowl drop to the floor and shatter into glittering shards of slowly melting ice. She looked up at Darcy with an innocent smile.
"What bowl?"
Darcy rolled her eyes.
"Cute. Okay, what did you do?"
She brushed past Icy to go survey the damage. Icy followed meekly, silently chuckling to herself over the whole situation. Darcy took in the sight of their dripping wet, unconscious roommate lying slumped over on the floor and shook her head.
"Just couldn't leave well enough alone, could you?"
Icy folded her arms indignantly.
"Hey, she started it!"
Darcy rolled her eyes.
"You realize she's gonna be furious when she comes to?"
Icy turned her back on the unconscious storm witch and flipped her hand dismissively.
"So? It's not like we'll even still be here when that happens. A jolt like that should keep her knocked out for a good 15 or 20 minutes at least. If you're so worried though you can keep an eye on her while I go grab a shower."
Taking a moment to collect some clothes, Icy headed into the bathroom and took a quick shower. Once dressed she returned to the bedroom and with the help of a now fully-dressed Darcy dragged the still unconscious form of their roommate into the shower. Icy turned on the water, freezing it as soon as it hit Amanda. She turned away with a satisfied smirk.
"Okay, let's go get some breakfast. When the hothead thaws out she's on her own."
Darcy shook her head.
"You've got a real sadistic streak, you know that?"
Icy gave a big fake pout.
"So does that mean you don't love me anymore?"
Darcy trailed a finger along Icy's jaw, smiling enigmatically as she headed for the door.
"Oh, I never said that."
Icy followed Darcy out the door, trying not to drool. This was going better than she had planned.
