CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE:

Mary couldn't believe what she just heard. She shook her head, looked at Johnny, and said, "My ears must be playing tricks on me. I could have sworn you said you had sex with Mom, and Susan had sex with Dad!"

"I did," Johnny sadly said. Mary dropped his hand.

Still, Mary had a hard time believing what Johnny just said. She glanced at everyone else, each one of them quiet. Nobody denied anything.

"It can't be true!", she cried, shaking her head to and fro, tears forming in her eyes. 'My Johnny wouldn't do that,' she thought, 'COULDN'T do that!' If it was anyone other than her Johnny, that told her this, she would never have believed it!

"Honey," her mother said, "We couldn't stop it from happening. If we hadn't been drugged, we would never, ever do such a thing!"

Lila's words didn't help Mary much. She was a mess of emotions. Shock (of being told what happened), fear (of losing Johnny), anger (of what had happened), jealousy (of her MOTHER, no less!), had her in a tizzy. Coupled with her lumbar starting to hurt, she was on the edge of a mental shutdown.

Susan spoke up, "Mary, what Gil did has hurt us all. WE are the victims here."

Lila said, "Mary, this has shown me that I was wrong in keeping sex a secret from you all. I thought I was protecting you. I should have talked with you about it sooner. I know now when I saw your brother and sister naked, it wasn't a dream. I think they have been sexually active with each other," looking at them still holding hands. The quickly unclasped.

Susan cried out, "Mom! It ..."

Lila cut her off. "It's okay, really, it is. You see, baby, when I was your age, I fell in love with my brother, too."

"Your brother?," Susan said, "You don't have a brother!"

"Yes I do," Lila replied, "He's so handsome! Everything I wanted in a man. I had always thought of him as more than a brother, and I thought it saw so unfair! Just because we have the same parents, I couldn't make love to him?! We snuck out on a date at the old Porkbelly Hotel, and I was so afraid he would laugh when I told him how I felt. Turns out, he felt the same way about me."

She paused to catch her breath, remembering how ecstatic she felt. "So you see, falling in love with your brother is not necessarily a bad thing."

Mary asked, "So what happened to your brother? You never mentioned him before..."

Lila sighed and looked at her husband. "I married him."

Sissy was watching TV in the living room when she heard the doorbell. Who could that be? Mom was still out on her date, and the housekeeper went home. Johnny?

She walked over and looked through the peephole. Nobody there. Then she heard some scratching, she opened it and looked down. It was Missy!

"Where have you been?!", she exclaimed, as she picked Missy up, glad to see her pink poodle again, "I was worried about you! C'mon, you must be hungry!", as she started walking to the kitchen, ignoring the TV screen: 'Hank Anchorman here, with our special report, Scandal at Porkbelly Middle School! How is the quality of food Kramara feeds our children?...'

"SAY WHAT?", all three Test siblings cried in unison.

"It wasn't easy," Hugh stated. "Your mother told the justice of the peace that it was pure coincidence that her name would be Lila Test Test."

Lila continued, "When we eloped, the only one in our family who knew was our sister Bernice. She kept Mom and Dad occupied. And when they found out...WOOOAAHHH...all hell broke loose."

"They disowned us, told us our marriage was blasphemous and obscene, quoting their Bible constantly," Hugh said, "Our father always quoted Leviticus 18:9, and Bernice is the only one in the family who stayed with us. Everyone else sided with our parents. Our family moved away, and to this day they blame us. They never did consider us family anymore, and for that I am so sorry."

Mary spoke, "So your not upset that Susan made love to Johnny?"

"No," Lila said, "Johnny is as handsome as his father, and what a hypocrite I would be if I punished her for doing the same thing I did! I never knew Susan loved Johnny that way!"

"I used to," Susan said, "but that changed. He's my brother first, and a lover second."

"And Johnny," Lila asked him, "Do you love Susan?"

"Yes," he said.

"Do you want to marry her, make her your wife?", Lila asked, Mary cringing at the question.

Johnny looked sadly at Susan, and then said, "No, but there is someone I DO love and want to marry."

"And who is that?", Hugh asked, thinking it was Sissy.

"ME!", Mary spoke up.

Both Hugh and Lila gasped. Johnny took her hand, and Mary continued, "Johnny and I love each other, the way you and Dad love each other. If its okay for you to fall in love with your brother, and Susan to be in love with her brother, it should be okay for ME to be in love with my brother!"

"Not quite the same", Lila said.

"Why not?", Mary asked.

Lila explained, "Because Johnny is not your brother."

"You're a mess!", Sissy said as she ran the water to bathe Missy. "I don't know where you've been, but you could have come home for a little while!", as she dropped her in the tub, and started cleaning her. She started on her face and ears, then worked her way back, past the base of her skull, over her back, past her rump, and to her tail, then rinsed her off her started soaping her bottom half, starting on her chest and then back, noticing some substance outside her vagina. "You've been busy, girl. No wonder you've been gone!", she quipped, then washed her paws. Another rinse and she was done.

Missy shook her body, spraying water everywhere! Sissy got wet, laughing at Missy.

"Actually, he's your half-brother," Hugh said.

"What? How?", Mary asked.

"It's complicated," Lila said.

"How can I be their HALF brother?", Johnny asked, "It doesn't make sense..."

"I'll try to explain," Hugh said. "After you girls were born, your mother developed gonadal dysgenesis."

"What's that?", Johnny asked.

"That's when her ovaries form but have no eggs. No eggs means no conception. No conception means no babies."

Lila spoke up. "At first we thought it wasn't true. We kept on trying, but after a couple of years, we decided to try another way. We wanted another baby really bad. I wanted a son, so a friend of ours, who is also a lawyer, knew of a destitute woman who would carry your father's baby for a fee. We arranged for an artificial insemination with your father's sperm. A private adoption was set up to take place after the baby's birth."

Johnny had a puzzled look, then said to Lila, "So Dad is my Dad, but I have a different mother?"

Lila answered, "I'm not the woman who gave birth to you, but I have always been your mother. I have always loved you as my own son. Nothing can change that."

Hugh continued, "Everything was going fine, until three months into the pregnancy. A routine ultrasound showed that she was having twins."

"I have a twin brother?!", Johnny cried.

"No, fraternal twins. You have a twin sister," his father said.

"When were you going to tell me that I was adopted?"

"We were going to tell you when you turned 10, but we just COULDN'T," Lila said ,"I was afraid you'd run away to find your biological mother. So we decided to tell you when you turned 11, but we were still afraid, so we decided when you turned 12. You seemed so happy, we didn't want to risk it!"

"Who is my birth mother? Is she nearby?", Johnny asked.

Hugh answered him. "Yes, she lives in Porkbelly. The contract with her was for ONE child, and we chose you! Your birth mother kept your sister."

Susan said, "It shouldn't be too hard to find her. Her and Johnny have the same birthday..."

Lila said, "That won't work. Legally, Johnny's father is listed on the birth certificate as 'Unknown', and his legal date of birth, and when we celebrate his birthday, is the day the adoption was finalized and signed by the judge."

"You didn't answer my question," Johnny said.

Hugh looked nervous. "Your birth mother strongly believed that a man should be able to see his child grow up. Instead of leaving Porkbelly, as she had originally planned to do, she stayed and went back to school to make a life for herself and her daughter. She's now a success in her field."

"You still didn't answer my question," Johnny said.

"Johnny, son, it may be best if you don't know," Lila said.

Johnny looked at her, see the fear in her eyes that her Johnny would leave her. He smiled, and reassured her, "Mom, I'm not deserting you. You're my mother, and I love you. Making love to you didn't change that one bit. As with my sisters, I love them both, and they will always be my sisters."

"Oh baby," Lila whispered, tears of joy falling from her eyes, "I was so afraid of losing my man!"

Mary was very quiet, trying to solve this puzzle that will change Johnny's life. 'Birth mother stayed. Twin sister. See his child grow up. What the hell is SHE doing here? Honey, this is Joanie,' she thought. The pieces were beginning to fit together.

Johnny asked again, "Who is my birth mother, please?", with those pleading eyes at Lila.

So happy she was that Johnny would stay, she said, "She can't ever know about you knowing until you turn 18! Swear to it!"

"I swear," Johnny promised his mother.

"EUREKA!", Mary yelled, startling everyone. "It's her. It has to be her!"

"What 'her'?", Susan asked.

"His twin sister! Our half-sister! IT'S SISSY!", Mary cried.

Both Hugh and his wife nodded their heads. Lila sighed and said towards Johnny, "Yes, baby, Sissy is your twin sister," Hugh followed, "That's why we banned all DNA experiments and kept her from dating you! We couldn't risk you finding out!"

Johnny fell back, a mixture of crying and laughing coming out of his mouth. The lovemaking with his sisters and his mother, that he thought was incestuous, WASN'T; and the sex with Sissy, that he thought wasn't incestuous, WAS!
