Disclaimer: I do not own Gargoyles/Disney related but the original character, Eve Anderson, is from my own mind and is not a character of Disney. I get no pay and am only doing this for fun |
Finally dressed and feeling her stomach protesting it needs more food, Eve follows Puck down the hallway towards the kitchen. He stops just short of the kitchen, his attention completely on the livingroom. Confused, Eve steps around him to see what he is looking at. Justin stares back at them, his face slightly pink in embarrassment.
Eve glances at Puck, seeing his expression totally unreadable. “Justin, I didn’t know you were here.” “I kind of figured that out about 20 min ago.” His face colors more and he looks away. It dawns on her that he heard them having sex and she looks away as well, unsure of what to say. “I’m, uh, sorry.” Justin smirks slightly. “Don’t be. I was just sticking around long enough to talk to your other half anyway” He glances at Puck. “that is if you don’t mind.” She looks up at Puck, seeing him slowly lift a brow in question as he stares back at Justin. “Um, ok. Just don’t maim each other while I’m gone.” Puck waits until she is in the kitchen before leaning back against the wall. “What is this about, Justin?” “I’m an idiot and I’m sorry.” Justin looks down at his hands. “Grandmother Willow put things in perspective for me and I understand now why she didn’t pick me.” He looks back up at Puck, sadness in his eyes. “I want to make things right. I don’t want to lose her this way. She means too much to me.” Puck narrows his eyes. “I am a very jealous man, Justin. I do not share what is mine easily. Why should I listen to you?” “I know.” Justin stands and tosses a pillow across the room. “I’m only asking for her friendship, nothing more. Besides, if you wanted me out of the picture completely, you’d have done it by now. Keeping your promise to her means you really care about her, more than I will ever understand. That speaks volumes to me and I want to give you a peace offering.” He pulls out a small box from his pocket and holds it out to Puck. “It’s the ring she always wanted. She stared at it everyday til the day she moved away, always telling me that was the ring she wanted given to her by the man she would marry. I bought it for her, knowing one day it would grace her finger. I want you to be the one to give it to her.” Puck takes it, opening the box to see a small silver ring with tiny sapphires and diamonds creating a miniature of the tree of life. He closes the box again, looking back up at Justin. “Thank you. I understand what this means to you and the sacrifice you are making.” He pockets the box. “I will be sure she knows who gave it to me and why.” Eve steps into the room, feeling the slight tension between the two. She glances between them, holding up a tuna sandwich. “Either of you hungry? I made lots.” Puck smirks, leaning over to softly kiss her brow. “No but Justin can join you if he wishes.” Justin nods to him, smiling back as he sees the concession Puck is giving him. “No thanks. Horses are fed and I need to be getting back before a search party comes looking for me.” He walks over to the door, glancing back at Eve as he opens it. “Later, Monster.” She smiles back. “Later, Booger.” She watches him leave before turning back to Puck, who is smiling fondly at her. “So does this mean the two of you are good for now?” “Yep.” He turns her back towards the kitchen. “Now let’s get that rumbling thing you call a stomach taken care of before it jumps out and eats everything in sight.” “Whatever!” She slaps his arm.Eve groans, closing her eyes as she tries her best to concentrate. It had been two days she had seen Justin and two days since Puck had let her do anything more than eat, sleep, and learn how to ground her magic. She knew something had passed between him and Justin but she couldn’t pry it out of him.
Instead he insisted she learn how to ground herself so the next time she felt herself getting out of control she could send her magic somewhere other than to harm someone. Although she completely understood why he was putting her through this torture, she was getting frustrated with the fact that it was the only thing on his mind. He even refused sex because he said it would break her focus and lower her energy she would need to succeed. She feels her frustration build as the magic slips through her ‘fingers’ yet again. A sudden vibration at her hip jolts her. She opens her eyes, pulling her phone from her pocket. She flips it open, frowning as Puck begins to walk towards her in a huff. “Yes?” Puck stops a few feet away, arms crossed over his chest in annoyance. “This had better be a good reason to stop.” She holds up a hand, ready to snarl at him in frustration. She listens for a moment before agreeing and then closing her phone. She looks up, eyes narrowing at him in challenge. “That was Becky. She needs more measurements and input on the dress. She would like me to come in today if possible since I’m still in town. I think it is a good reason to stop for the moment and have a breather.” “Very well.” He transforms into Owen, still showing a slight annoyance on his face. “We will continue when we get back.” She turns away, heading for the bike. “Can’t we take some time off? It’s not like I’m gonna go nuclear anytime soon.” He closes his eyes, mentally counting to 10 before sighing softly. “We’ll discuss it when we get back.” She rolls her eyes and waits for him to climb on before jumping on behind him. He stalks up the steps to the store behind her, glaring at the open sign. Eve stops, her hand on the knob of the door. “You know I can get measured and discuss the dress without needing you to tag along behind me.” He feels her flare of annoyance and steps closer, turning her enough to look at him. “I’m smothering you again, aren’t I?” “Yes.” She relaxes against him. “A little.” “I’m sorry.” He gently strokes her cheek. “I’m just..” “Scared.” She smiles weakly up at him. “I know. I promise to walk away and find you if I feel myself getting aggravated.” He kisses her forehead and steps away. “Ok. I’ll be at the diner.” She watches him walk into the diner before steeling herself for yet another round of questions and measurements. “Drowning your sorrows in coffee?” Owen looks up from his cup to see Justin standing next to his table, grinning. “Shouldn’t you be drinking something stronger?” “There is nothing strong enough here to do me any good.” Owen waves him to the chair across from him. “Please sit.” “Where’s Eve?” He sits down, signaling the waitress to bring him a cup as well. “She is at the store across the street making more decisions on her dress.” He glances out the window and out at the shop. “Becky’s?” He sees Owen nods yes and shudders, accepting a steaming cup from the waitress. “Poor girl. Becky will grill her til she thinks she knows everything about you and then try her best to find her way into your pants before the week is out.” He lifts his cup, saluting Owen. “Good luck. You’re gonna need it.” “I very much doubt Becky will succeed.” He winks at Justin. “I like all my parts where they belong.” “Good point.” Justin laughs softly as he sips his coffee. “So what else is wrong? I can see it in the way you are boring a hole into your cup with your eyes.” Owen glances around to make sure no one is close enough to hear. “She is not doing very well with her lessons and I am afraid she may let her emotions run her magic rampant again.” Justin sets his cup down, eyeing Owen critically. “What have you been doing other than lessons?” “Eating and sleeping.” Owen lifts his cup to his lips, trying not to see the frown marring Justin’s face. “No riding, biking, hiking, or singing?” Justin leans back in his seat, watching Owen closely and seeing him barely shake his head no. “Hell! Have you even been screwing her brains out lately to give her some kind of stress relief?” He snorts when Owen stares at him flatly. “No wonder she’s not getting it. Eve was never the type of person who could learn things under stressful situations.” He holds up a hand to stop Owen from commenting. “I’m not saying she can’t handle stressful situations just that she can’t learn new things when she’s extremely stressed. I can promise she is very stressed right now.” Owen sighs, slowly turning his cup in his hands. “She has to learn to control herself before we go back to New York.” “So go back to the farm, screw her til the sun comes up in the morning and then start again tomorrow.” Justin winks. “You make it sound so easy.” Justin grabs the cup from Owen’s hands, setting it aside. “It is. You just have to get your head out of your ass long enough to see it.” He ignores the glare Owen gives him for the comment and shrugs. “I know Eve better than you do so let me give you a few pointers.” He lifts one finger, staring Owen in the eyes. “First thing is no matter how much she complains, she wants to be treated like she is the only woman in the room especially when she is dressed up. So make the extra effort to treat her like a lady when you two are out together.” He lifts another finger. “Second, don’t ignore her around your friends or coworkers. If she thinks you are not going to acknowledge your relationship in public, then she’s gonna think you only want her for one reason only; sex. So when you get back, don’t screw it up.” He lifts a third finger. “As much as she would like everyone to believe, she is not superwoman. She can’t do everything all the time without wearing herself down like she is right now. She’s not gonna tell you she’s had enough because she knows she has to get this right. She’s gonna keep on keeping on until she falls flat on her face.” He lifts a fourth finger. “Never let her go to bed angry with you. I’ve seen her hold grudges for months on end because I was stupid enough to not work it out right away. It’s far better to give her a cup of chai and beg her forgiveness immediately than it is to let her brew for too long.” Owen sighs, glancing out the window again. “Why are you telling me all this?” “Because if I can’t have her, I want her to be happy.” He slides Owen’s cup back to him. “Besides, now that I know more, I can honestly say if you ever hurt her I will hunt you down, chain you up, and make sure you wish you had never laid eyes on her.” Owen glances back at him, seeing the seriousness in Justin’s eyes. His lips twitch up, allowing him his illusions. “Point taken.” Justin spies Eve leaving the bridal shop and climbs to his feet. “Looks like she’s done. I better disappear before she sees me talking with you. Might make her suspicious.” He grins and winks before walking off. “Good luck.”
