Disclaimer: I do not own Gargoyles/Disney related but the original character, Eve Anderson, is from my own mind and is not a character of Disney. I get no pay and am only doing this for fun |
Eve laughs at the look on Owen’s face as he realizes Fox is already making phone calls arranging their wedding. She grabs his hand, pulling him away from the kitchen so he can’t take Fox’s phone away. “Let her have her fun. You can’t say you didn’t have a hand in planning their wedding.”
He sighs, knowing she is right. “Very well. Just remember I do get some say in this endeavor.” “Of course you do!” She winks at him and pulls him down in the arm chair next to the fireplace with her. “You get the bachelor party!” His face darkens. “There will be no bachelor party.” “Of course there will!” David steps into the room, grinning like a cat who has ate the canary. “And I have permission to take you out wherever I want to go.” Owen glares at Eve, frustration leaking through their bond. She gently strokes his cheek to soothe him. “I trust you, Owen. I very much doubt that he’s going to get you so drunk you wake up with some naked stripper in the morning.” He sighs, relaxing against her. “You have a point, although I still do not like the idea.” David winks as he sits down on a chair nearby. “I promise that will be no surprises like the ones you had planned for mine. I’ll behave.” Fox steps into the room, phone barely away from her ear. “Where exactly are you planning on having the ceremony? I’ve already made plans for the ballroom in the castle to be used for reception.” Owen lifts a brow, gently putting a finger to Eve’s lips to keep her quiet. “This one is mine.” He kisses her cheek. “Central park. I want us to be married outdoors among the trees.” Fox raises a brow. “That’s a tall order. Are you sure?” “Absolutely.” His mouth twitches up. “Unless you do not think it is possible,” Fox rolls her eyes at him. “Just watch me make it happen.” She puts the phone to her ear again and disappears back into the kitchen. “So who is gonna marry you?” David turns in the chair to prop his feet up on the arm. “I don’t see a priest doing the honors.” Eve laughs, earning her confused looks. “As if! I was never the church going type to begin with. Even growing up I was never one to step inside a church. The kids would joke and say I’d burn up if I did cause I was Satan’s daughter. “ She sobers up for a moment, realizing Owen’s concerned look. “Unless you want to that is.” He looks away for a moment, at a loss for what to say. When he looks back, she can see the slight hesitation in his eyes. “In truth, Fae weddings do not have priests. They are handfastings presided over by Oberon. They are not considered binding without his blessing.” “Oh.” She frowns, only just now realizing how problematic this may become. “So you don’t think he will if you ask?” “No.” He looks away again. “Then I will ask.” She gently strokes his hair. “Maybe he’ll do it for me if I ask politely enough.” His eyes widen and he pulls her into his arms. “That is more dangerous than you believe, My Dear. We will have our ceremony without it.” “We will at least do the handfasting.” She snuggles in closer. “I want you to have something that is yours.” He kisses her forehead softly. “As you wish.” After dinner, Fox talks Eve into a night of Rock Band on her Xbox. Owen watches in amusement as Fox and Eve sing the night away with David trying his hand at the drums. When they finally call it quits, Eve curls up on the couch next to Owen. She snuggles in as close as she can to him, his chest lightly shaking in laughter. “Tired?” He gently strokes her hair by her temples. “A little.” She yawns, closing her eyes and enjoying the attention. He kisses her forehead, watching her quickly slide into sleep. Fox smirks, waving at him as she quietly leaves the room. David glances over his shoulder as he starts to follow, happy to see Owen settled and content for a change. “We’ll be leaving tomorrow.” He winks at Owen. “Enjoy the time together while it lasts. We’ve got several trips coming up and I know she’s gonna hate you being gone.” “If everything has settled, I will bring her back next weekend.” He curls his arms around her more. “That will give us time to get her apartment settled before she starts back.” “You’re very sure of yourself on her moving in.” David lifts a brow and frowns back at his friend. “I think you better ask her first.” “I will ask her to move into the castle first.” He gazes down at her sleeping face. “I want to give her some room. If she stays in my rooms, I will not complain but if she decides not to, I would rather her be down the hall from me than halfway across the city.” “You’re worried about her?” David can see Owen slightly tense. “I’m worried that her magic will get out of hand before I can teach her how to use it.” He glances up at David, frowning back. “She hasn’t manifested yet. When she does, I need to be there to contain it.” “I see.” He nods. “I’ll have a suite of rooms ready for when you get back. Good night, Owen.” She doesn’t remember going to bed, only curling up in Owen’s arms on the couch. So when she wakes in bed late the next morning, she feels disoriented at first. Realizing the time, she quickly dresses and heads for the barn to feed. Thunder and Warrior greet her with their usual impatience, causing her to grin back at them as she begins to toss hay. Owen and David stare out the bay window, watching Eve putter around the barn and pastures as she feeds the various horses not out in the meadows. David grins, sipping at his coffee. “Are you sure she’ll come back to New York? She looks like she could stay out there forever.” “And I would stay with her if I wasn’t already bound to you.” Owen’s eyes catch on an old truck rumbling up the drive. “It seems Justin made it through the boundaries this morning.” Eve looks up as the truck pulls to s stop near her. She smiles, seeing Justin climbing out and waving at her. “Is it Friday already?” “It is.” He smiles back, walking over and lifting the bale she was going to toss over the railing. “I thought I would relieve you of this manly duty so you can go back to more important things like cooking.” “Whatever!” She laughs and gently slaps at his arm. “I am just as manly as you are.” Justin sobers and stares down at her, his eyes unreadable. “When are you going to believe me that you are the most beautiful woman in the world, Eve.” Her brows draw down, hating to hear the same old argument from him. “When I grow old and think back on how cute I was when I was younger.” He gently touches her chin, lifting her face enough to look into her eyes. “When were you going to tell me?” “Tell you what?” Her eyes narrow in confusion. “That you are getting married.” He searches her face. “Didn’t you want me to know?” “He just asked me, Justin.” She steps back, her confusion growing. “I was going to tell you when I saw you.” She sees him tense and frown. “What is this about anyway?” “This is about us.” He steps closer, hands closing on her arms. “You know I’ve always loved you. You know you belong here. Send him back to New York where he belongs and stay here with me.” He leans down and kisses her. She becomes stiff against him, her lips pressed together to deny him entrance. Her confusion turns to anger that flares white hot inside her.David grabs Owen’s arm, holding him in place as they watch Justin confront her. “Wait. Let her deal with him for the moment. She wouldn’t thank you for beating the snot out of a lifelong friend when she can put him in his place on her own.”
Justin steps away, confused when she doesn’t kiss him back. “Eve?” His eyes widen as she opens hers to stare angrily back. “Eve, I’m sorry.”
David drops his hand, seeing eve’s hair begin to move in a nonexistent wind. “Maybe you should go save his sorry ass now before she leaves nothing left of him.” Owen sighs, striding towards the door. “Dumb ass.” He growls out as he sprints for Eve. Her eyes glow a soft blue as she stares angrily at Justin. “How dare you presume!?!” He steps back at the anger in her voice as her hair begins to lift and sway as if a steady breeze is blowing around her. “Did you really think I would just drop Owen because you said to? I love you like a brother, nothing more!” Sparks begins to jump around her fingers. “No matter what you say I will never love you as anything more than that!” Owen slides to a stop next to her. “Eve, listen to me. You need to calm down.” He glances at Justin, seeing the fright on his face. “If you do not calm down, someone could get hurt.” When she doesn’t respond, he gently takes her face in his hands and turns it towards him. Seeing the magic lighting her eyes worries him even more. “Eve, you need to get control of yourself before you hurt someone. Your magic is manifesting now.” She blinks a few times, trying to clear her mind of the anger. “What are you talking about?” He glances over at Justin again, knowing more needs to be done. “Can I trust him?” “I dunno.” She blinks again. “Maybe? yes?” Deciding to take the risk, he changes to Puck and begins siphoning some of the magic from around her and sending it away. He hears Justin back up against the truck and nearly stumble. “I wouldn’t leave if I were you, Justin Soaring Eagle.” He glances over at him, narrowing his eyes. “I would hate to have to track you down like rabid animal.” Justin straightens, knowing he’s in deeper than he knows as he sees the tips of Puck’s ears peek out and he quickly realizes he’s dealing with one of the Fae. “What is wrong with her?” “She’s manifesting her magic.” Puck strokes her face, glad to see her eyes close and her body begin to relax as more magic is drawn from her. “No thanks to you. I had hoped I could help her under a controlled situation but you had to piss her off instead. You must be more of an idiot than I first thought.” “How was I to know she had magic?” Justin yells back. “She’s never had it before!” “Of course you wouldn’t.” He growls back, letting her sag into his arms. “You never even gave her the chance to talk to you.” David and Fox cautiously approach, eyes bouncing between both men. “What do you need from me?” David stands close to Puck, concerned at the way he is holding Eve. Puck gently brushes her hair from her face. “She should sleep now. I pulled enough from her to drain her for the moment. Take her inside and keep an eye on her.” He glances up at Justin, eyes narrowing again. “Justin and I need to have a little chat.” “Ok.” David scoops her up into his arms. “And if I need you?” “You know how to call me.” Puck whistles and neighs answer him. “I won’t be far away.” “Don’t do anything foolish.” Fox whispers to Puck as she follows her husband back to the house. Thunder and Warrior trot up, flanking Puck and pawing the ground as they eye Justin. Justin’s eyes widen as he realizes the stories his grandfather told about Fae horses are true and right in front of him.Fox tucks the blankets around Eve, unnerved by her lack of response to any stimulus. She nearly jumps when a hand lightly touches her shoulder. She looks up to see Titania gazing down at her. “What are you doing here, Mother?”
“I am here to watch over our young Queen.” Titania steps around her and gently places a hand on Eve’s forehead. “She will sleep but she will be vulnerable until her strength is back.” “What’s to keep you from taking out a rival, Mother?” Fox gently pushes her mother’s hand away from Eve. “Why should I trust you when I’ve seen you at your worst before?” “Because I have no desire to kill my brother.” She steps away and settles into a nearby chair. “The bond is still there and can only be broken by her. Until then, any move on her would result in my brother’s death.” She steeples her fingers and leans back. “Besides, I wish to be an aunt soon.” Fox’s lips twitch up as she glances down at Eve. “Her being pregnant would floor him.” “I know.” Titania grins back.Sorry it took so long to get this one out. More is on the way and hopefully lots more next week since it is spring break for me!! And as always, please review!!
