Weiss Schnee was confident that she had the correct mixture. In the last hour alone, she had read and re-read the textbook multiple times. She had made meticulous notes and checked and re-checked her calculations. Weiss was sure everything was right.
Weiss was preparing an experimental dust concoction from a new blend of gravity dust sent specially from the Dust laboratory in Atlas. The intention was to have the effect of slowing time within a space to make hitting moving targets easier to hit. Weiss was reaching the most critical stage. Retrieving the vial of dust, she held it steady over her creation. This required a keen eye, a steady hand and just a little more-
“Hey Weiss”
Weiss felt her hand falter, forcing herself to steady before the entire concoction was ruined. Weiss calmly allowed her hands to return to the workbench, resting the chemicals aside with the utmost care.
“What are you up to?” Ruby asked in her typically saccharine demeanour.
“Dust” Weiss replied flatly.
“What kind of Dust?” Ruby persisted.
“Secret dust” Weiss replied.
“Need a hand?” Ruby asked.
The crimsonette didn’t even wait for her reply before she lunged forward in her eagerness to be helpful.
“No, Ruby-” Weiss called out in surprise.
The momentary distraction allowed Weiss’s tenuous grip on the Dust container to falter, slipping from her fingers to crash across the bench and her experiment in equal measure. The two huntresses were swiftly consumed as a plume of deep purple smoke rose followed by the brilliant flash of light of an explosion.

Ruby awoke with a splitting headache. Still, at least it meant that she wasn’t dead so there was that. Ruby dared to open her eyes to see the blue sky clear above her. Ruby lifted herself up, looking around she found they had been dumped into the courtyard in the centre of Beacon, Weiss laid out on the courtyard beside her. Neither of them appeared too shaken by their unexpected teleportation.
“I hope you will take this as an opportunity to learn why you shouldn’t interrupt me while I’m working” Weiss bemoaned as she rose to her feet beside her, smoothing out the creases in her combat skirt. Weiss checked her scroll, her eyes flashing in surprise.
“Come on” Weiss swiftly set off at a run. Ruby didn’t wait for an explanation to follow her. “We’ve got to hurry or we’ll be late for Professor Goodwitch’s class”
Running through the halls the two companions made good time to the lecture theatre, arriving only a few minutes after the class was set to begin. Still, Professor Goodwitch was not known for being lenient with those who dared to arrive late for her classes. Despite attempting to slip in unnoticed they soon found themselves frozen in place the moment they caught sight of the person standing at the front of the class.
Was Professor Port having a mid-life crisis? That would certainly explain why he was looking 30 pounds thinner. And why his usually silvery hair was tinted jet black with only the tinniest flecks of white peeking through at edges.
“Ah, new students?” Port addressed them. “Well, it’s hardly a good impression to be late on your first-”
“I’m sorry I’m late Professor”
Ruby and Weiss turned to face the voice. This time they were sure that something was most definitely wrong. After all, they were fairly certain that Professor Goodwitch did not have a teenage daughter. And yet someone a head shorter with the same light blonde hair tied into a neat bun and the same half-rimmed oval glasses, dressed in a Beacon Academy uniform, was standing right in front of them.
“Yes, yes” Professor Port insisted. “Now please, take your seat Miss Goodwitch. We have a lot to get through this morning”
Ruby and Weiss were too stunned to dare move. Clearly, they weren’t in Beacon anymore.
*******************************
Ruby and Weiss sat at an empty table in the Beacon courtyard, watching the groups of students walking past as they continued their day.
“Where are we?” Ruby whispered to Weiss, as if the very mentioning of the idea that they had been transported here would only get them in trouble.
“It seems to be it’s not a case of where, but when” Weiss replied.
It swiftly dawned on Ruby. “You don’t really mean…”
“Yes” Weiss affirmed. “As cliché as it sounds, it looks as though we’ve travelled through time”
“How is that even possible?” Ruby asked.
“Dust can do amazing things, most of which we don’t fully comprehend” Weiss explained. “I was using gravity dust in the experiment. While we may not understand it completely, gravity can have a significant impact on the passage of time. Perhaps even enough to send us back to some previous date”
“That sounds a little far-fetched” Ruby questioned.
“Call it what you will” Weiss replied. “But the Dust research centre at the Atlas Academy is not held in the ‘Schnee Wing’ for nothing”
Ruby admitted that she had her on that one.
“Ok” Weiss breathed deeply, fighting to bring her rampant thoughts under control. “We’ve been sent back in time but we’re still in Beacon Academy. Looking at the date on the Beacon newsletter, it looks as though we’ve been sent back just over 17 years from when we left”
Ruby’s eyes flashed. “Did you say 17 years?”
“There about” Weiss confirmed. “Why?”
“Nothing” Ruby fought a losing battle to keep her expression natural as Weiss continued to stare her down from across the table. She failed.
A sudden glint of realisation shot across Weiss’s face. “Oh, no. No, no, no-”
“Weiss, please” Ruby pleaded. “This could be my one chance to see-”
“No, absolutely not!” Weiss protested. “We have no idea what’s going on or what impact our being here could have, assuming we can even get back home”
“But Weiss, she’s my mum” Ruby continued.
“Which is even more of a reason not to upset the balance of history” Weiss clarified. “Besides, she wouldn’t even be your mother. It would be a past version of her before you were even born. You’d be a complete stranger to her”
Ruby could not think of how to reply.
“Right” Weiss brought them back to the moment at hand. “First and foremost, we have to find our way back. To that end, I still remember the Dust concoction from my previous experiment. All we need to do is find Dust samples of the correct mix and potency. Hopefully, if I can recreate the same conditions as before, it should bring us back”
Ruby nodded in agreement.
“I’m going into town to look for a Dust shop” Weiss raised herself from her seat. “And you’re coming with me, so I can keep an eye on you”
“Actually, maybe I should stay here” Ruby suggested. Weiss stared across at Ruby, suspicion deep in her gaze. “And go to the… library to look for information on the gravity dust… phenomenon”
“Ruby, you barely passed ‘Dust Mechanics’ last semester” Weiss was quick to remind her. “And that was with me tutoring you for three days beforehand. What makes you think you would even know what to look for?”
“True, which is why I could search the archives and compile a list of all the I stuff I find that may be relevant” Ruby offered. “That way, when you come back with the Dust samples, you can just get right into it and not have to spend hours we may not have looking for where everything is”
Weiss’s gaze continued to bore a hole through Ruby’s head.
“Girl Huntress’s honour” Ruby held her hand up in salute.
“Fine” Weiss was sceptical to say the least, but she relented. “Meet me in the library in three hours”
Weiss departed towards the transport terminal. Ruby enthusiastically waved her friend goodbye while simultaneously revealing the pair of crossed fingers of her other hand from behind her back. She would be sure to make amends with the spirit of her Huntress Troop leader when they got back.
*******************************
Ruby walked through the familiar walkways of the academy courtyard. It seemed Beacon hadn’t really changed even after all of this time. She knew that Mum, Dad, Uncle Qrow and Yangs mum had all attended Beacon and were the on the same team. This could be her only chance to see her mum again.
Walking across the campus she was only now remembering how large the Academy truly was, and how low her chances may prove of finding her in the limited time she had. But, even as big as Beacon was, there was still a chance she could find-
Rubys eyes caught a familiar flash of dark hair, a deep red cape fluttering behind him. Ruby felt her heart raging as she charged forward without hesitation at such a speed she almost triggered her semblance.
“Uncle Qrow!” Ruby threw her arms around Qrow’s middle, burying her face into his back.
“Wow, hey!” he swiftly protested as he twisted to catch sight of his unexpected embracer. “Hey little one, I think you got me confused with someone else. There’s only one who calls me Uncle is-”
“Qrow, who’s that?”
Both of them looked over as Taiyang stepped forward. A delicate baby was wrapped up in his arms in a bright pink blanket, a girl with a flash of bright blonde hair crowning her head. Ruby instantly recognised her spitting image from her family’s photo albums.
“Oh, Taiyang” Ruby said, realising her blunder the moment the words left her lips.
“Have we met?” Taiyang asked.
“Uh, I mean-” Ruby began to stammer.
“Qrow, what are you up to this time?”
This time, it was Rubys turn alone to stare in shock. There she was. Dressed in the same black corset and skirt combination that would become Rubys mainstay in her own time. The main difference was the way her clear white cape contrasted with Rubys own deep red one.
“Why do you always assume it’s me?” Qrow protested. “I was just standing here when this girl came up and…”
Summers attention turned to Ruby. Her soft smile was all that was necessary to enrapture Ruby in her gaze.
“And who might you be?” Summer asked.
Ruby froze. She had spent so much time thinking about how much she wanted to see her mother again she had never considered what she would say to her when she finally met her.
“I’m Ruby” Ruby said. “I’m a, transfer student”
Summer looked at her quizzically. Had she been found out so quickly?
“We don’t get many transfers this time of the year” Summer said with a quizzical look. “I could show you around if you like”
“Yeah, that would be great” Ruby replied, unable to believe how perfectly things had worked out for her.
“Ok, well you two have fun” Qrow waved. “We’ve got some things to do in town”
“Ok, I’ll see you back at the dorm later” Summer waved her teammates goodbye as they departed across the courtyard.
Summer turned back towards Ruby, holding her hand out for her. “Shall we go?”
Ruby eagerly accepted the offered hand. “Sure. Let’s go”
*******************************
“So, Ruby, where was it you transferred from?” Summer asked as they strode along the walkway.
“I was studying at Signal” Ruby explained. “Then I got offered a chance to come here”
“I was going to say, you looked a little young to already be studying at Beacon” Summer giggled.
“Yeah, I must have really impressed someone” Ruby replied sheepishly. “What about you?”
The truth was that Ruby was already well aware of her mother’s history, but it seemed polite to ask.
“I grew up in Vale so Beacon seemed like the obvious choice to study to be a Huntress” Summer smiled. “It must have been nice for you, growing up in a place like Patch”
“Yeah, it was nice” Ruby mused. “Safe and quiet”
“Sounds like a good place to settle down” Summer agreed. “Raise a family”
“You mean like Taiyang and Raven?” Ruby asked. The crimsonette bit her lip the moment she’d said it, she already knew she’d said too much. Although their parents had never shied away from it Ruby remembered that anything to do with the time after Yangs mum left was something of a sore subject for all involved.
“Yeah, it’s such a shame” Summer said, downcast. “Yangs such a sweet little girl. And now Taiyang is raising her all on her own. A girl needs a mother”
“At least she has you and Qrow with her” Ruby reassured her.
“That’s true” Summer continued. “I guess we’re all lucky her Uncle was dependable at least”
“Just a shame he drinks so much” Ruby bemoaned.
“What do you mean?” Summer asked.
“I meant; I could smell it on him” Ruby was quick to answer.
“Weird, I’ve never seen him drink before” Summer looked at her quizzically.
Ruby could tell that Summer was realising that there was more to her than just some awkward transfer student. Ruby couldn’t hold herself back anymore. She had to tell her.
“Summer” Ruby said nervously. “There’s something I should tell you”
“What is it?” Summer asked.
Ruby summoned her faltering courage. “I’m-”
A flash of lightning erupted across the sky. Rain began pouring ceaselessly down upon them.
Ruby cursed beneath her breath. The universe just loves getting in the way.
*******************************
Weiss suppressed a frustrated sigh as she once more stepped out on the streets of Vale emptyhanded. Ten dust shops in a row and not one of them stocked the type of Dust she required. Few of their supposed ‘Expert Dustsmiths’ had even heard of that type of Dust. To be honest, she shouldn’t have been entirely surprised. She had needed to order her original batch especially from Atlas Academy.
Weiss suppressed the temptation to cry out in frustration as she contemplated the very real possibility of being stuck in the past with that complete-
Glancing down the street Weiss could see a large building emblazoned with the SDC logo. Weiss bemoaned herself for not thinking of it sooner. With renewed determination powering her steps Weiss made it down the street and around to the front of the building. She approached the guards in front of the gate.
“This is a Restricted Area” one of the guards said as she approached.
“I’m Weiss Schnee” Weiss replied, reaching into her pocket she retrieved her company ID. “Heiress to the Schnee Dust Company”
The guard leant in closer to get a better look at the ID. A flash of realisation passed across his face as he immediately straightened.
“My apologises Miss Schnee” the guard replied. “Please head inside. I’ll call ahead to the Director that you’re coming”
“Thank you” Weiss stepped past the guards and into the building.
The Heiress soon found herself in the warehouse itself, everywhere she looked piles upon piles of boxes were stacked high almost to the ceiling. Despite each being printed with an SDC logo and accompanying serial number each gave no further hint as to its contents.
Weiss however was not about to start searching every single crate like a certain Crimsonette might suggest. Nor would she uncover the contents by simply smashing open every other crate until the correct one was found like a certain blonde brawler. Instead, she would take direction from her more wily companion and simply take possession of the warehouses manifest. From there it would be a simple matter to cross-reference the contents and find the correct-
“What were you idiots thinking?” the sound of boots resonated through the corridors.
Weiss froze. That did not sound good.
“She had an approved ID, sir” the guard replied. “She’s the heiress to the Schnee-”
“It was a forgery!” the officer snapped back, their approach drawing closer. “The Schnee’s only have one daughter and she’s two years old!”
‘Crap!’ Weiss cursed to herself. ‘Why didn’t I think of that sooner’
Weiss moved to hide herself behind the crates from the guards. Weiss glanced over. By some miracle she would make out the familiar insignia of the SDC Experimental Research division in Atlas, the same facility from which she had acquired her original samples. This crate, unlike any of the others, included special warning markings as to the nature of its contents.
WARNING: Experimental Gravity Dust. Handle with extreme care.
It was so close. All she had to do was-
“There she is!” the voice of the guard called out, the sound of beating feet resounded against the floor. Weiss searched for a way, anyway, out of this. She saw it, a skylight in the top of the building. Weiss charged out of her cover, towards the opening.
The sound of her pursuers grew louder, drew closer. Weiss instinctively threw a glyph behind her, a shower of snow and ice shards meant to throw off and distract her pursuers. Weiss took one final great step before she leapt herself into the air, triggering a gravity glyph beneath her feet as she suddenly found herself propelled high above the floor of the warehouse.
Weiss passed through the opening and landed on the roof of the warehouse. She quickly ran across the roof, leaving the chaos of the guards behind her. Weiss reached the edge of the roof, igniting another glyph beneath her as she was propelled over the wide gap between the edge of the roof and the perimeter fence of the facility.
Weiss landed into a roll as she ran into an alleyway to conceal herself. Weiss leaned heavily against the wall, her heart raging in her chest as it suddenly dawned upon her how close she had come to being arrested or worse by her own company. But now at least she knew where to find the Dust they needed, all she had to do was get back inside
Weiss knew that any attempt to go back in now would be insane. Instead, she had to get back to Beacon and meet up with Ruby. Perhaps between the two of them they could find a way back in. At least things couldn’t get any-
A flash of lightning split the sky, the roar of thunder following close behind. The clouds above her suddenly let loose with a ceaselessly downpour upon her. Yeah, this was worse.
*******************************
Ruby Rose stepped into the dorm, her uniform dripping with rain despite Summers insistence that Ruby be the one to stay under the umbrella. It was undeniable however that the older woman had borne the worst of the storm.
“I’m going to head into the bathroom and, freshen up” Summer said with a teasing twinkle in her eye.
“Ok, sure” Ruby replied, watching as Summer practically skipped into the adjoining bathroom.
With her moment of quiet Ruby took the opportunity to look around the dorm room, surprised at how familiar it looked to the dorm she had been living in for the last few years. Ruby was even able to make out who’s bed was who’s.
She recognised the spare parts for Uncle Qrow’s Harbinger under his bed. The little baby hamper for Yang nestled next to Taiyangs bed. It was hard to imagine the sister who stood nearly a head taller than her for her whole life could sleep soundly in such a tiny space. That meant-
Rubys eyes fell upon Summers bed, looking fairly typical if not for its personal significance to her alone. Ruby could hear the roar of the shower in the other room. She was sure she had time. Ruby kicked off her boots before she crawled onto the bed, feeling the caress of the soft sheets beneath her skin. She buried her face into the soft pillow, feeling her senses being overtaken by the familiar, sweet scent. It was just as she remembered all those years ago, held close to her mothers’ warm bosom. She was sure that she could lay here all night and bask in the memories of-
“Oh, someone's eager”
Ruby rolled over in surprise. She’d been so consumed with indulging herself in the sweet scent she hadn’t noticed Summer standing behind her wrapped in her long white cape.
“And here I thought I’d have to do a bit more to tempt you” Summer said.
“Sorry, I was just-” Ruby began to apologise.
“Is this what you were looking for by chance?” Ruby found herself stunned, unable to reply as Summer whipped open her cape to reveal she was standing naked underneath.
Ruby was left stunned as Summer approached with a coquettish wiggle of her hips as she walked. Ruby instinctively began to shuffle back on the bed, stopping as her back pinned against the headboard. The taller woman crawled onto the bed like a cat prowling her prey until she was laid face to face with her.
Summer dared to lean forward to kiss Rubys tender, cherry red lips. Ruby remembered her kiss, just never like this before. Summer withdrew from her embrace, leaving Ruby panting breathlessly beneath her at the intensity of the experience. The crimsonette suddenly felt very short as the taller woman crouched over her.
“I know this may sound strange” Summer admitted. “But from the moment I saw you I felt like there was some kind of deep connection between us”
“Believe me” Ruby panted. “It makes perfect sense”
That was all the encouragement that Summer needed as she leant forward to kiss the shorter girl beneath her. Summers hands began to move effortlessly across Rubys front. Ruby hesitated, grasping Summers strong arms in her hands as she began to undo the ties at the top of Rubys corset.
Once she had formed enough of a gap, Summer slipped her fingers beneath the lip of her top. Summer leant in closer, nibbling on the soft skin beneath the swell of Rubys pert breasts. The combined teasing elicited a soft giggle from between Rubys lips.
Summers fingers continued to caress up Rubys chest, reaching the underside of the cup of the simple black cotton bra. Summer slipped her fingers beneath the lip of the cup, the wash of cool air instantly hardening Rubys pert nipples. Summer teased the tip of her finger across the very top, feeling the nub engorging to greet her. Summers fingers pinched around the delicate nub, eliciting a delectable jolt of joy rippling through her body.
Summer crawled further across the shorter huntress’s front, wrapping her lips around Rubys teased nipple. She eagerly licked, suckled and nipped at the tender nub. While her lips lavished her attentions on Rubys breast, her hands began to delve even further across the crimsonettes front. The tips of her fingers passed over the front of the crimsonettes skirt, feeling the soft material flutter as she touched against the-
Summer froze. She could feel the swell rising in the front of the girl’s skirt. Her fingers caressed up and down the front of the bulge just to assure herself of what she had just felt. Summer glanced up at Ruby with a devilish smile. “Well, aren’t you special. The best of both worlds combined into one”
Summer reached down to cup Rubys bulge in the palm of her hand. The girl writhed beneath her touch as Summer began to draw her underwear down the length of Rubys athletic legs. A smile grew across her lips as she watched the younger girl’s erection rise to greet her, the bulbous head burning red with the strain of her arousal.
Summer wasted no time in wrapping her lips around it, savouring the warm touch of the head against her tongue almost as much as Ruby enjoyed the slippery wetness against her. Summer pressed her lips further down the length of Rubys cock, consuming more of the shaft in her all-encompassing warmth. Ruby fought back a deep moan as the pressure continued to rise inside of her cock. Her shaking hands raised to grasp the back of Summers head, her fingers entwining in the delicate strands of hair as she urged her on.
Summer withdrew herself from Rubys cock, despite Rubys desperate urging to keep her there. Summer climbed back up the length of Rubys front until she lay face to face with the shorter crimsonette. Summer leant in to plant another passionate kiss Rubys lips, the crimsonette tasting the lingering sharp flavour of her shaft in the embrace.
Summer moved to whisper in Rubys ear. “I want you inside of me”
Rubys eyes flashed at her mother’s words. The practical part of her mind told her she should protest. That part of her was swiftly overtaken as she felt the touch of Summers pussy lips riding against the tip of her cock. This was completely different to her mouth, warmer, wetter and so much more-
Rubys mind flashed blank as Summer lowered herself to consume the tip of the crimsonettes cock. Summer dropped further down on top of Ruby, the crimsonette feeling her lips tightening in resistance to Summers slow advance. Summer raised herself up before driving back down once more. Ruby thrust her hips upwards, yearning for the warm, damp passageway to consume her entirely. Summers rippling muscles were milking her utterly, driving her inexorably towards a climax she knew she-
Ruby clasped Summers hips tightly in her hands, a sudden flash of realisation driving her to pull Summer off of her before she lost her control completely. The tip of Rubys cock burst free of Summers lips with a wet pop. Ruby panted deeply as she struggled to maintain her tenuous composure, knowing just how perilously close she was to cumming. Ruby shifted herself closer to whisper to Summer.
“I wanted to, savour it” Ruby assured her. Ruby was quick to plant another kiss on Summers lips, feeling their embrace becoming ever hungrier and more ravenous as their shared passions grew.
Ruby reluctantly withdrew herself as she began to slip down the woman’s front. Rubys lips caressed across the swell of Summers pert breasts, teasing the tip of her tongue around the erect tip of her pink nipple. Her lips continued to descend across the flat expanse of Summers stomach.
Ruby touched her lips to the peak of Summers bright pink pussy, her lips eagerly weeping with a steady stream of delectable juice. Rubys tongue traced up and down the length of her pussy before daring to slip inside of her. The heat was even more forceful, the grip of her muscles intensifying for each daring inch she caressed deeper. The tip of the crimsonettes tongue touched against the sensitive bundle of nerves in the centre of Summers pussy. The shock of the moment caused her lips to close tightly around Rubys explorative tongue.
A flash of inspiration passed through the crimsonettes mind; she had her solution. Ruby reluctantly withdrew her tongue from inside of Summers warm pussy, feeling the woman’s body rippling with euphoria at the crimsonettes delectable touch.
“I want to put it in your… ass” Rubys voice quivered, hesitant even to voice her suggestion.
A tense moment lingered between them. Ruby feared that she had overstepped and-
“Do it” Summer stated directly.
Even Ruby was surprised by Summers forthrightness.
“Put it in my ass” Summer reaffirmed as she turned herself over onto her front on the bed. Summers ass wiggled her pert ass at Ruby kneeling behind her.
The sight proved a delectable offering for Ruby as she positioned herself behind her mother, admiring the heart shaped curved of her ample backside. Ruby reached down to once more tease the tips of her fingers across the opening of Summers drenched lips. Once her fingers were sufficiently moist, Ruby caressed them around the opening to her puckered asshole. Ruby could feel Summers clench muscles in anticipation of her intrusion.
Ruby lifted herself up to press the bulbous tip of her cock against the opening of Summers ass. A single push was all that was necessary for Ruby to slip past the outer most ring of her butt. The resistance of Summers muscles only encouraged the younger woman further, grasping her mother’s proud hips as she thrust forward in a determined effort to reach as deep as she could. Ruby felt her body ripple with excitement, the illicit thrill combined with the ceaseless grasp of Summers muscles proving too much for her to resist. The tip of Rubys cock erupted in a shower of white cum to coat the inside of Summers ass.
Ruby listlessly drew herself free from Summer, her entire body quaking with the warm aftermath of her release. Ruby lay herself on top of Summers back, consumed by her mother’s familiar scent enriched by the deep scent of sweat.
Rubys body proved utterly insatiable, feeling her erection rising back up seemingly of its own accord. Acting purely on instinct, Ruby lifted herself up and remounted her mother once again. No technique or rhythm, just the wild thrusting of her hips into Summers welcoming opening. The taller woman howled in pleasure as Ruby had her way with her.
Ruby felt yet another release fast approaching. She grasped Summer tightly, determined not to be taken away before she could release. For her part, Summer had no intention of removing her. The tip of Rubys cock erupted in a shower of cum deep inside of Summer.
Ruby collapsed on top of Summer once more. She could feel her cock beginning to deflate in the wake of her release, flopping free with a wet pop. Ruby glanced down, only now noticing that in her primal daze she hadn’t quite put herself where she had been expecting. That meant…
As exhaustion began to overtake her panic, Ruby’s head fell listlessly to Summers chest as the woman shifted herself to face her shorter lover. Ruby and Summer lay basking in the aftermath of their shared intimacy, enjoying every moment like they never wanted it to end. Because Ruby knew, once it did, Weiss was going to kill her.
*******************************
Ruby could not keep the smile from her face even if she wanted to. After the weather had cleared Summer had insisted on coming to the library with her. For her part, Ruby had insisted that they take the scenic route through the courtyard. Through their walk they admired the rain drops as she fell from the leaves of the flows, the soft tweet of the birds in the trees. Despite all that they had just done together Ruby could not help but feel her heart quicken at the thought that she was walking hand in hand with Summer through the-
“Where the hell have you been!”
Rubys blood froze in her veins. The crimsonette snapped around to see Weiss storming towards her from across the courtyard. With her skirt stained and her hair ponytail frizzing the usually prim and proper heiress was looking far worse for wear than usual. The sudden realisation of how long she had been gone, and how late she had been to meet up, swiftly dawned on her.
“Oh, hey Wei-” Ruby greeted nervously.
“Don’t you ‘Hey Weiss me!’” Weiss snapped as she stopped in front of Ruby, her features blistering with anger. Weiss glanced between Ruby and Summer in front of her. A flash of realisation passed across her eyes.
“May I borrow her” Weiss didn’t wait for Summers reply or Rubys agreement before she grabbed the crimsonette by the arm, swiftly dragging her away into a hidden corner of the courtyard. Weiss pinned the younger girl against the wall behind her.
“Why don’t you start by telling me just what the hell you think you’re playing at?” Weiss growled with barely supressed rage. “I told you not to mess with history and what do you do? While I risked my life trying to get the Dust we need to go home you run off with the one person I specifically said not to meet”
“But Weiss, this could be my only chance to see her” Ruby replied in a meek protest. “And I didn’t just… meet her. I may have done something… worse”
“Worse?” Weiss queried. Looking at the crimsonette, it soon became clear it was written across her face. “You didn’t”
“Yeah, I kinda did” Ruby sheepishly admitted.
Weiss was already on the verge of panic, this practically put her into the realm of full-blown hysteria. “Do you realise what this means?”
“No!” Ruby blurted out.
“Oh, you utter dolt!” Weiss’s hysteria began to shift to frustration at the realisation of quite how dense her teammate could be. Weiss stepped back as she clasped her hands over her face, breathing deeply to save herself from falling into full blown despair. Clearly, she never imagined that she could ever have to explain such a thing to someone. Much less her team leader.
“It all makes sense now” Weiss turned back towards Ruby. “Didn’t you ever wonder why you looked so much like Summer and not Taiyang?”
“Because Summer was my mother?” Ruby suggested quizzically.
“No, because Taiyang wasn’t your father” Weiss persisted.
Ruby blank stare only drove Weiss even closer to the limit of her mental resilience. “Well, if he’s not my dad, then who?”
“What do you mean ‘who’?” Weiss asked. Clearly subtlety was not working here. She was forced to be uncharacteristically direct. “You are!”
The stark realisation passed over Ruby in stages. Surprise. Denial. Deflection. Despair. And finally, stark realisation.
“Weiss, you have to help me!” Ruby pleaded. “We’re both in this together after all”
“We?” Weiss objected. “I’m not the one who had sex with her own mother and somehow became her own father!”
Weiss turned away from her partner, burying her face in her hands to try and make some small sense out of this situation. In the end, all that Weiss achieved was finally reaching the end of her precarious tether. It had not been a long trip.
“You know what, forget this” Weiss turned back to face Ruby. “I’m sick of this place, I’m sick of this nonsense and I was already sick of you”
“Weiss, what are you saying?” Ruby asked.
“I’m saying let’s just steal the damn Dust and get back to our own time” Weiss fumed.
“But, won’t that change history?” Ruby asked.
“Oh, a lesson in not changing history from Miss ‘I’m my own father’” Weiss threw her arms up in frustrated defeat. “Let’s get the hell out of here already, screw history!”
Weiss stepped forward to grasp Ruby’s shoulders, pinning the crimsonette against the wall behind her. “Now shut your overactive cookie hole, locate your spine, your sense and the shattered pieces of your tiny mind and let’s go steal some Dust from my father!”
*******************************
To agree to break into a highly guarded SDC facility was one thing, carrying it out was another matter entirely. Such a distinction only became starkly apparent when they finally reached the perimeter of the warehouse. Even under the cover of darkness there was no guarantee they would be able to get inside without being spotted.
Weiss held her hand out in front of her, summoning an ice glyph as she set to work freezing a hole in the chain-link fence. Ruby stood silently on guard as Weiss worked.
“You’re leaving, aren’t you?”
Ruby wheeled around to face the source of the voice rising from the darkness. Ruby stifled a yelp of surprise as Summer stepped out from the shadows.
“Yeah” Ruby nervously rubbed the back of her head. She was never good with these awkward conversations. “I’m sorry I didn’t come back and tell-”
“It’s fine” Summer interjected. “Something told me that you would need to leave soon. Just, don’t forget about me”
“Believe me” Ruby replied. “I won’t”
Summer nervously chewed on the bottom of her lip before she suddenly lunged forward and kissed Ruby deeply on her lips as her arms wrapped around the shorter girls’ shoulders. Despite Rubys surprise she swiftly embraced the kiss in return, feeling a warming glow beginning to rise inside of her raging chest.
Summer reluctantly broke the lingering kiss, slipping her arms from around Rubys shoulders. The crimsonettes stared blissfully into eachothers eyes, the two caught up in moment that was theirs alone to share. With a last lingering smile Summer turned and ran away into the shadows cast by the streetlight. Ruby watched silently as she ran, the clatter of her boots against the pavement the last lingering remnant of her presence.
Weiss silently stepped up beside Ruby. “That was, without a doubt, the single most disgusting thing I have ever seen in my life”
Before Ruby could admonish her teammate for so callously shattering the moment Weiss returned her attention to her handiwork.
“Come on” Weiss pressed her hand against the centre of the fence, a perfect circle falling away where her ice glyph had fractured the thin metal chain. “Let’s get this Dust and go home already”
Ruby and Weiss crept through the warehouse, following Weiss’s memory of the layout. They swiftly found the place where Weiss had found the required dust components. Weiss pulled open the crate.
“I need a moment to prepare the Dust” Weiss said as she began her work.
“Take your time” Ruby affirmed. “I’m pretty sure they don’t know-”
“Halt, unauthorised entrants!” a computerised voice carried down the corridor accompanied by the clattering of metal feet swiftly growing louder at their approach. Ruby reached beneath her cloak and drew her Crescent Rose, moving to use the crates as cover.
“Keep working” Ruby instructed. “I’ll hold them off”
Ruby peered around the corner of the crate as the first security robot emerged around the corner of the crates. Ruby fired off the first shot, the head of the first robot erupting in a shower of broken metal. The other robots swiftly returned fire, forcing Ruby back into the cover behind the crates. Weiss continued her work preparing the dust combination despite the chaos erupting around her.
“How do we even know this will work?” Ruby fired off another shot to keep the robots back. “What if it just sends us back further or-”
The Crimsonettes question was lost as a bubbling hiss emerged from the beaker, the dust concoction beginning to react. A pillar of dark purple smoke began to rise.
Ruby fired off a final defiant round before rushing back to Weiss’s side. The thick curtain of smoke surrounded them. “Choke on that, continuity!” Weiss called out in one last defiant call as they were consumed by a bright flash of light.

Ruby dared to open her eyes, confident that she would be opening them to be met by the barrel of the security robot’s weapon. Ruby looked up to find herself once more laid out in the Beacon Courtyard. Somehow, she already knew it was true, they were back in their own time.
“We did it!” Ruby exclaimed, throwing her arms and legs up in triumph as her body trembled with barely contained excitement. “Weiss can you believe-”
Ruby glanced aside as she watched Weiss recompose herself, raising to her feet and dusting off her soiled dress.
“Ruby” Weiss breathed in deeply. “Let us both agree that we will never speak about any of this ever again” Weiss stared at Ruby. “And you”
Weiss drew Myrtenaster, directing the tip of the blade between Rubys spread legs. “You will never allow your anatomy to put us in danger like that ever again, or I will see to it your ability to make use of it will become severely limited. Am I clear?”
Rubys euphoria instantly evaporated. She had known Weiss long enough that despite their swiftly thawing friendship, she was not one to make idle threats.
“Very clear” Ruby replied.
***************Authors Nonsense***************
“Well hello, little one”
Willow: “You look lost, perhaps we can help you”
Weiss, nervously: “We?”
Weiss, on the verge of panic: “No, no, no. I’m not doing this, I-”
Ruby, leaning down from her bunk above: “Weiss, are you ok? It sounds like you were having a nightmare”
Weiss, staring daggers at Ruby: “You did this to me”
Weiss: “We can still fix this; we just have to send you back to stop the sex from ever happening”
Weiss at Ruby: “And this time, you are not to have sex with your mother”
Weiss: “Or anyone else for that matter”
Weiss: “Including yourself”
Ruby: “Ew, Weiss that’s gross”
Yang: “Aw and look at this one. How cute does little Ruby look all bundled up with Summer. Look she has your eyes and your hair and your cute little button-”
Weiss, slamming her book shut across the dorm: “I have to go now, I feel physically ill”
Ruby, nervous: “Must have been the curry surprise in the cafeteria”
Yang: “That makes no sense”
Ruby: “Weiss explained it but I kind of forgot”
Weiss, perilously close to killing her leader: “Ruby, I thought we agreed we would never speak again about you sleeping with a younger version of your mother”
Blake, listening in from across the dorm: “Weiss, do you have any more of that dust?”
I guess that finally settles the question over who Rubys father is.
