Gwen was glad when the class was over why had she agreed to take that class again? Oh, right Ben had wanted to take classes together leaving her taking a few classes Kevin liked. She glanced at Ben and smiled when she saw he was walking so close to Kevin. If Ben still had his memories he wouldn't be acting like this and his relationship with Kevin wouldn't be going so well because both boys were so hard headed. Ben wouldn't have admitted or shown his feelings for Kevin she would have had to force them into it.
"What's next?" She wondered.
"Special indiviual classes based on our powers." Kevin stated. "I'm going this way."
"I'm this way." Gwen pointed in the opposite directiion.
"I'm straight ahead." Ben stated. "Meet back here when class is over?"
They agreed. Ben and Ship found themselves in an empty classroom with Azmuth in it.
"Hello, Azmuth." Ben said, "I can only turn into Heatblast. Kevin helped me train a bit but I haven't really gotten the hang of it."
Azmuth nodded and began the lesson.
Ben met with Kevin and Gwen where they'd said they'd meet. He was holding a sleeping ship.
"Gwen, why is your shirt singed?" he asked.
"Because, we had to shield against fireballs thrown at us. In my current state I could only deflect two before my shield failed and I was barely able to dodge the third." Gwen explained. "How are feeling, Kevin?"
"Sane." Kevin grunted though he was shaking his head. "What'd you do, Ben?"
"Did you know Heatblast can fly?" Ben wondered.
"Yes." Gwen and Kevin told him with smiles.
"It was cool but takes a lot of power." Ben said, "I kept 'Timing Out' as Azmuth called it."
They talked on their way to their hand to hand class. It was clear Gwen and Kevin had this class aced but Ben couldn't remember how to fight so he was starting from the beginning.
All day they went through classes while their parents watched them. Their last class of the day was their study hall which Gwen spent tutoring Ben and helping him catch up on his homework for Earth School. Kevin tried to help too but mostly he just sat with his arm on the back of Ben's chair. Ben for his part was blushing but doing his best to keep up with what Gwen was trying to teach him. He quickly realized that he wasn't as smart as his cousin. It kind of made him feel inferrior.
Gwen was glad that Ben was catching on to what she was trying to teach him. She was trying her best to put it in words that he would understand after all. She was worried about Ben. Never since the day they were born had he ever acted like this. Was this what was under all that confidence? A scared and insecure boy? How could they all have missed this for so long? Ben was a great actor that's all there was to it.
Finally, there was time to relax or sleep before catching their shuttles home.
Ben moaned as his alarm went off but pulled himself out of bed and got ready to go on his run with Gwen. When he and Ship got there Ben perked up to see a tired Kevin waiting with a tired Gwen. They put their earbuds in and did their run then they were off to school. Kevin dropped both of them but went into Ben's school with him. Kevin went to the office and asked to the guy in charge while Ben went to his first class.
Ben was shocked to find out that he got experiance for turning in his homework talk about incentive to do it and turn it in. He took his seat.
When school ended Kevin and Ben spent some time together just the two of them because Gwen had taken Ship with her that day.
"Uh......" Kevin said, after awhile. "I'd like to take you out on a date."
"okay." Ben said, softly blushing deeply.
'He's so damn cute.' Kevin thought to himself.
"Okay, then. "
They ended up playing Putt Putt Golf and having fun and laughing. To everyone else they were just two friends hanging out.
Kevin was enraged to see Julie with a group of giggling girls from Ben's school. Sure enough she looked enraged as well to see them. She came to them.
"Hey, Ben what are you doing here?" She asked, batting her eyes.
Ben shrugged not bothering to say.
"Where's Ship?"
"Gwen's." Ben replied. "Ship likes Gwen. I'll pick him up later."
Julie frowned. That sounded a lot like Gwen was babysitting while Kevin and Ben were out on a date but Ben wasn't gay. Ben had been with her so that couldn't be. She really thought about it though. They had never kissed except for that kiss in the hallway and Ben had always been so distant with her. Always making up excuses on why they couldn't spend time together. Honestly, how many times did he actually 'save the universe'. She wondered if either Ben or Kevin would admit it.
"Oh, so you and Kevin are out on a date while Gwen babysits then?"
The girls she was with all gave her dirty looks.
"So what if they are?" One snapped. "Did you have to bring it up like that?"
"Yeah, they obviously were trying to be discreet about it." the second girl said.
"Yeah." The third girl agreed. "Geesh, Julie, there are people out there who aren't okay with their type of relationship. You can't just go blurting it out like that."
"You can't be serious?!" Julie cried, "You guys are actually okay with Ben and Kevin dating?"
"Like why wouldn't we be?" the fourth girl asked.
"Though it is sad that they are both off the market." Two more girls said, sadly.
"Julie, I've changed my mind I don't think you have what it takes to be a cheerleader." the head cheerleader stated, coldly. "Sorry, about this, Ben and Kevin."
"No problem." Kevin shrugged. Ben looked happy and miserable at the same time. "It's not you or your girls that have a problem with us. It's Julie don't apologize for her. I'd like to thank you all for you support."
"Yes, thank you." Ben said, softly.
"Come on, Ben." Kevin said, smiling at him. "Lets go get a burger."
"Sounds good." Ben said perking up.
Devin had been following Kevin all day as was his current job from the Plumbers. They wanted to make sure their Guardians were protected until they were back to full strength. He was glad that Kevin had people in his life who supported him and his relationship. He should talk to his son soon but how was he going to make Kevin listen to him? He sighed to himself as he and Max followed Kevin and Ben.
