"I might nae be a doctor," said Hudson as he wound the gauze around Lex's torso. "But this old soldier knows how to dress a battle wound. Don't suck in, lad. It would nae do to wrap ye too tight."
"Guess I should've gone as a mummy instead of a cyborg." Lexington tried to joke, but no one felt like laughing. In fact, Angela and Elisa were holding on to each other and crying. Both females had their right upper arms wrapped up in bandages. Elisa had put on heavy make-up earlier that night, trying to achieve the distinct Princess Jasmine cat eye look. Now, she looked like Tammy Faye Baker gone Disneyland. Earlier that night, Angela had tried braiding her own hair and wound up looking more Laura Ingals than Dorothy Gale. After Pavel worked his magic with mousse and a curling iron, she had the perfect Dorothy look. Now, she was back to looking like Laura Ingals on a bad day.
Broadway also had his torso wrapped, but with the extra padding on his chest instead of his back like Lexington. He stood near the two weeping females and put his arms around them both, looking ready to cry himself. He had stripped his costume off to the waist, but still had his painted on whiskers. Brooklyn was also stripped to the waist, still in his red and blue tights with his wounded shoulder bandaged up. He wore an expression on his face that looked like he wanted to kill someone.
Bronx was lying flat on the floor, staring dolefully into space with gauze taped over his shoulder. Hudson tried to fix his own wound on the inside of his left arm. Lex offered him a hand, holding the gauze while Hudson taped himself up. He and Lex had the smallest wounds. Hudson had been able to block the worst of Thailog's blades with his own. Lex's costume provided a small form of armor. Still, the wound on his lower back bled.
Dr. Sato entered the room, taking off his glasses and wiping perspiration off his brow. "Dr. Sato!" called out Elisa as she and the rest of the clan crowded close to the surgeon. "Goliath, is he...?"
"Stablized, more or less." said Dr. Sato.
"What do you mean 'more or less'?" asked Brooklyn.
Dr. Sato rubbed the bridge of his nose and cleaned his glasses as he spoke. "I mean, I got him as good as I can. But, if he doesn't get a transfusion within the hour, I'm afraid we might lose him."
"So get him a bloody transfusion!" snapped Hudson, not realizing the pun he just made.
"Blood is just what he needs." said Dr. Sato, putting his glasses back on. "He lost more than his body can replace. I don't dare give him human blood."
"Then give him gargoyle blood!" said Broadway. "You can give him my blood!" All the rest of the clan clamored in, pledging they would give anything to have their leader live.
Dr. Sato raised a hand for silence. "Please understand," he said. "If Goliath gets the wrong kind of blood, it could kill him. I'll have to run some tests. It shouldn't take long to see who's compatible."
"I'm his daughter!" said Angela. "Surely my blood could save him."
"It's no guarantee." sighed Dr. Sato. "However, a blood relative does stand a better chance of matching him than any random gargoyle. Come along, we'll take a sample."
"Can...can I go with her?" Broadway asked.
"Of course." said Dr. Sato, leading them away.
For a long time, everyone just sat in the infirmary and waited while watching the clock. Elisa seemed to have cried herself dry and was bent over with her head in her lap. Brooklyn still looked like he wanted to kill someone. Bronx whimpered as he held his head in Hudson's lap. Hudson gave him a scratch behind the ear to comfort him. Lex sighed. What an awful night this turned out to be. First, Goliath got stabbed by Thailog. Then, Brentwood, Lex's own clone teamed up with said murdering lunatic! //Goliath's not dead, he won't die, he can't. He just can't!//
Lex tried to remember the last thing he said to Goliath. He had seemed so distracted and distant when he came back after his chat with Elisa, leaving rather abruptly for the Labyrinth with Brooklyn. When he returned to the party with Delilah in tow, Lex asked him how he liked his cyborg costume. Goliath had simply stared at him, speechless for a moment. He seemed relieved when a man dressed as a knight called him over. Lex had puzzled over that strange reaction, until he was distracted by something made of chocolate, strawberries and whipped cream.
Angela approached him and Broadway not long after, saying she was worried about her father. He clearly had no interest in Delilah and seeing Elisa with another man must be hurting him terribly. The three of them went to offer Goliath as much emotional support as they could, when they came across that awful sight. Goliath was laying on the floor, his blood pooling on the stones while Thailog gloated while holding up a bloody blade. "YOU BASTARD!" Angela screamed, letting out only the second swear word Lex had ever heard her say. While she and Broadway attacked Thailog, Lex had rushed to Goliath side. Before he could ask Goliath if he was alright, Goliath weakly tried to warn Lex that he was about to be ambushed. At that moment, he was grappled by Malibu. He managed to throw him off, tackle him and demand why he was helping Thailog. It was then that he felt Thailog's blade slice across his back, his aluminum costume providing only minimal protection.
That was when Brooklyn swooped in, like the superhero he was dressed as. He rammed right into Thailog, a gargoyle nearly twice his size, just managing to get him away from Lex. Everything got a bit chaotic after that. Malibu had decided he wanted to go another round with Lex, and Lex was ready to give him the fight he wanted. He was sure he heard Bronx let out a roar as he was dropped from above by Hudson, followed by Bronx howling in pain. Lex's struggle with Malibu ended when Broadway threw Burbank's mace at the clone's head.
The fight really came to a halt when Delilah appeared. It looked like the clones were just going to peacefully follow her back to the Labyrinth, until Brentwood declared he was staying with Thailog. Lex had tried to talk him out of it, but Goliath, fighting to stay alive, told him to let Brentwood go. Had Goliath spent his last bit of strength to tell Lexington to let Brentwood side and escape with the very monster who killed him?
Brentwood had chosen evil. He was Lexington's clone. What did that say about him? And Goliath...Goliath was dying. And it was probably partially at least Lex's fault. Even as Goliath fought blacking out from blood loss, he still felt the need to guide and protect Lexington. Lex couldn't contain himself anymore. He was too full of guilt, grief and rage to do anything but break down and cry.
He felt a pair of arms go around him and a beak rest against his head. "Lex? Hey, Lex?" Brooklyn was talking to him. "It's gonna be alright, bro. It's gonna be alright."
"Goliath's dying." Lex whispered. "And it's my fault."
"Your fault?" scoffed Brooklyn. "You weren't the one with the knife." He patted Lex on the back. "It's gonna be OK. I mean, it's been half an hour and Sato hasn't come back to ask any of us for a sample, right? So that means either Angela or Broadway was a match. Goliath's gonna get the blood he needs and Sato's gonna make him better."
Lex rested his head against Brooklyn and held onto him. "Brentwood went off with Thailog."
"Yeah?" said Brooklyn. "Well, he can have him! Those two forgeries deserve each other."
"Brentwood is a clone of me." Lex reminded him.
"And Thailog's a clone of Goliath." said Brooklyn. "What's your point?" He hugged Lexington close. "Both of the originals are so much better than those fakes."
"I-I didn't know you felt that way, Brooklyn." said Lexington.
"Hey, Lex?"
"Yeah?"
"Can you take that thing off your head? It's really digging into me." Lex had removed most of his costume to let Hudson bandage his wound. He had forgotten about the metallic skull cap. Lex broke away from Brooklyn to remove it. As soon as he removed it, Brooklyn took him back in his arms, whispering "It's gonna be OK, It's gonna be OK, It's gonna be OK...." Lex wondered which one of them Brooklyn was trying to convince.
Another half hour passed uneventfully. Dr. Sato returned, looking thoroughly exhausted. "Angela was a perfect match." said Dr. Sato. "Goliath has been completely stablized. He will most likely sleep until sunrise, if I gave him enough anesthesia. If I underestimated, he will wake up disoriented, but he will live." Elisa embraced the doctor. Sato chuckled and patted her on the back. "Don't thank me, thank Angela for her generous donation. Broadway is getting her juice and cookies and she's taking a nap right now."
"Can we see her-uh-them." asked Brooklyn.
"Goliath will be unresponsive right now." said Dr. Sato. "If he does regain consciousness, he may be too weak or confused to really respond. Angela will be fine after she's upped her glucose level, but I don't recommend her doing any more gliding tonight."
They were taken to the recovery room where father and daughter lay beside each other in a pair of hospital beds. Goliath was laying with the covers pulled up to his chest, looking peacefully asleep while a monitor beeped and all sorts of tubes were attached to him. In the next bed, Angela was also sleeping with covers up to her waist and gauze taped to the inside of her left arm. "Angela?" Elisa gently tapped her face. "Wake up." Angela weakly opened her eyes.
"Let me guess," said Lex. "You just had a dream and we were all there." Angela was still in costume, so she looked very much like the last scene in //The Wizard of Oz//.
"There's no place like home." Angela said with a wry smile. "Goliath made it, right?"
"That beeping sound you hear?" said Elisa. "That's Goliath's pulse. He's gonna make it! And it's thanks to you, Angela." Elisa leaned down and kissed Angela on the forehead, as she would a daughter.
"He'd do the same for me." said Angela.
"Angela!" Broadway came in with a plate of cookies and a cup of punch leftover from the party. "I got chocolate chip, your favorite! And the punch is non-alcoholic, so drink up!"
"Yeah, well..." said Brooklyn as Angela had her snack. "I'm not really needed here. See you all tomorrow night." Lexington followed him out of the room.
"You OK, Brooklyn?" Lex asked as they walked out to the parapets.
"Sure, I'm OK." said Brooklyn. "Goliath's OK, Angela's OK, we're all OK."
"You don't sound OK." said Lex.
"Well, I am. Trust me." said Brooklyn, crouching atop one of the parapets. "Everything is just A-O-fucking-K!"
Lex jumped up on the parapet next to him. "Brooklyn," he said. "I wanna thank you for comforting me back there. I-I was really upset."
"It was nothin'." said Brooklyn, resting his beak on his knees and looking out at the city.
"And if you're upset, maybe you should let me comfort you."
"Nah, I told you, I'm OK. I promise."
"Brooklyn, this is your brother you're talking to." Lex reminded him. "You can be honest with me."
Brooklyn sighed. "Malibu, that- that forgery! That weak imitation of who I am is better at getting females than I am!"
"At least he's not evil." said Lex. "Besides, females? Fuck them!" Lex laughed, hoping a careless obscenity would help his brother.
"Wish I could." Brooklyn said with a smile. They both laughed.
"Hey, Brooklyn?" Lex stroked his arm. "Everything really is gonna be OK."
"Yeah." Brooklyn put an arm around him. "It really is gonna be OK." The two sat on the parapets together until the sun came up and turned them both into stone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Brooklyn was laying back on the bed, holding Lex in his arms. Lex lay against the copper colored chest, letting his hands caress the body as Brooklyn's hands stroked his back. A big beak nuzzled Lex's cheek. Lex stroked Brooklyn's long white tresses and kissed him on the cheek. Brooklyn ran his fingers over the membranes of Lex's wings and the base of his tail. Lex shuddered with pleasure as he grasped one of Brooklyn's horns. Brooklyn was embracing him, with both arms and wings. "Oh Lex!" Brooklyn gasped. "Let me make love to you."
Lex had learned a bit more about sex from the internet. He lay on his back and spread his legs wide. He watched as Brooklyn crouched between his legs. Brooklyn's tongue slipped out of his beak and licked Lex's member. Lex bucked and gasped in pleasure. After a few teasing licks on the underside of Lex's penis, Brooklyn opened his beak and covered Lex's member with it. It was wet and tight and so very good. Before Lex could orgasm, Brooklyn removed his beak. He wrapped one hand around Lex's member, just keeping it warm, while his beak dipped down and lapped at Lex's passage.
"Brooklyn!" Lex gasped, writhing at the feeling of this new sensation.
"You're ready for me." Brooklyn said. "I'm going to give you so much pleasure." Lex gasped as Brooklyn's hard, red penis slipped inside him. Brooklyn grunted as he pushed in. Lex pushed back, wanting that heat, that fullness. "You're so tight!" gasped Brooklyn. "And you feel so good!" He grunted as he thrust against Lex. Lex gasped at the feeling of being filled. He shouted as Brooklyn's hand grasped and pulled on his member. "I'm gonna make you cum, Lex!" Brooklyn promised. "And I'm gonna cum in you and it will feel so good!"
Lex put his arms around Brooklyn and bucked under him, loving the feeling of being made love to. He stroked Brooklyn's hair with one hand and his wings with another. Their tails intertwined. The hot pleasure was building inside Lex, getting hotter and stronger. Lexington called out Brooklyn's name as he writed in pleasure. "Brooklyn! Brooklyn! BROOKLYN!" And everything around him shattered and exploded. "Brooklyn!" Lex shouted.
"Hey, no need to shout, Lex!" said Brooklyn. "I'm right here!" They weren't on the bed anymore. They were outside on the parapet where they had fallen asleep, practically in each others arms. Brooklyn still had on his red and blue tights. Lex turned away hoping Brooklyn wouldn't notice the tent in his loincloth. He heard talons hit stone. "I'm gonna go check on Angela and Goliath. You comin'?"
"Uh, I'll be along later." said Lex, wondering why he just had a wet dream about his brother while Goliath was recovering from major surgery.
