PART V; And Then There Was...
~*~*~*~*~
Jade stopped her pacing. She didn’t know why, but she got a sudden chill down her spine. She searched for her clone’s feelings, and found that she wasn’t sad or worried any more. She almost seemed giddy. Giddy about what, was what made Jade a little worried.
She placed her ear against the wall that separated her room with the library, and found no sounds on the other side. No talking, nothing, just silence. What was going on?
It was weird, to say in the least, looking at the boiling purple goop in the cauldron. The clone looked at the notes, making sure she didn’t miss anything. She tried to stop herself at one point, knowing that this was a very bad idea, but something compelled her to continue. Maybe it was frustration.
But, the deed already done, the clone put some of the purple goop into a small pastel, letting it harden so she could grind it up into dust. The fine, violet dust in hand, the clone went up to a mirror in the library, looking at herself.
“You shouldn’t take the blame, Jade.” The copy whispered to her reflection. “Not when, there is more then just you.” With a deep breath, the clone tossed the dust up in the air, and let it rain upon her. It felt weird, a strange tingling all around her, and then a feeling of something, like an unseen burden, was suddenly lifted.
Jade quivered when she had the sudden feeling, looking around the room. Something was going on in the next room, but she didn’t know what, nor did she like it.
The clone stood with wide eyes, looking at the second reflection. Her other reflection, much like her, looked at her with wide eyes, curious of what just happened.
“H-…how do you feel?” One asked the other.
The other scratched her head in confusion. “I…I feel, fine. You?”
“Yeah, fine.” The first one said. She looked down at the bowl and at the dust inside. “It really does work.”
“Hey, what’s this stuff?” The other asked, taking a good handful of the dust and brought it to her nose to smell it.
“Ack! Be careful with that!” The first one explained.
Upon sniffing the dust, the other one suddenly let out a powerful and violent sneeze, blowing the dust out of her hands into the air, as well the dust in the bowl. A cloud of violet surrounded the two, disorienting them and making them cough. The two of them suddenly felt like weights were lifted off them, but this time it felt like it was a much more heavier weight.
Jade let out a gasp and huddled over, grasping her stomach. She felt queasy all of a sudden, and it made her cold. Something was going on, and she needed to know what, now. She ran up to the door and tried to open it, oblivious that Jackie had locked it when he left. But she still fought with the door, twisting the knob and pushing at it to open.
“What’s going on!?” She called. “Let me out!”
She was about to kick the door, seeing if she can force it open. She didn’t care anymore on what Jackie or the others said; she wanted out! Before she reared her leg back for the kick, there was the loud click of the lock, and slowly, the door creaked open.
The one who peeked in, made Jade step back and smile when she saw the identical hazel eyes. Her clone had unlocked the door and was now stepping into the room. Jade was happy to see her clone, but she grew worried when she saw the sadden look on her clone’s face.
“What’s wrong?” She asked.
The clone sniffled. “I…I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean too!”
“What? What is it?” Jade asked. But then, she grew shocked when another Jade walked into the room, looking just as sad as her clone.
“It was an accident!” The other one whimpered.
“What happened? What’s going on?” Jade looked past the other copy, only to find, what else, another one. “Wha-…?”
“I…I didn’t want you to be the only one that gets in trouble!” the first copy said. “So, I made that duplication spell and made another me so I can get in trouble too.” She then pointed to the second clone next to her. “And…and she sneezed and…and…”
“Oh lord.” Jade stepped out of the room, and nearly fainted at what she saw. Not counting herself, standing in the hallway, was five Jades, all of them looking at the real one like they all had done something wrong.
Jade, on the brink of panicking, turned and looked at the first clone. “Why? You have any idea what this will do to me?”
Quite suddenly, the first clone’s face went from sad, to annoyed. “I will take that blame! You didn’t do this, I did!”
“And me!” the second clone spoke up, also annoyed. “We’re in this together!”
“Yeah!” Another copy retorted.
Jade looked to the copies, seeing them all nodding their heads in agreement. She then smiled, shaking her head as she looked to the first clone.
“Thanks, guys. But, this is too much. What are we going to do?”
The first clone thought about this. “We won’t know until then.”
“Did Jackie and Uncle see you do this?” Jade asked.
The first clone shook her head. “They went out a while ago to get ingredients for the reversal spell.”
“Tohru?” Jade asked, her eyebrow arched.
The second clone giggled. “He’s sleeping.”
Jade, after a few short seconds of silence, chuckled and shook her head. “Oh wow. You guys are nuts.”
The Jades laughed, and suddenly all huddled around the real Jade in a group hug. The sudden action gave Jade a start, but she calmed down and wrapped her arms around some of the Jades around her and rested her head on the shoulder of the Jade in front of her.
It was odd; she felt serene about this. It was a nice feeling, and it made her recollect last night. She still couldn’t believe what she done, but she didn’t really care. But, remembering the intimate moment she shared with her copy last night, made her feel odd. It was that same tingly sense she had the night.
Unaware to her, her serene feelings and the tingling that followed, transmitted out to the other copies around her; especially one particular one right behind her. The other clones tried to figure what this sensation was, but the first Jade Copy had an almost evil smile on her face, her hands sneaking from the group hug to Jade’s stomach.
The moment Jade felt those hands on her stomach, rubbing her through her sweater, her mind flashed images that were all too familiar to her. She looked over her shoulder, to see hazy hazel eyes looking at her.
“W-w-wait now. Let’s not get into this again.” Jade whispered, receiving confused looks form the other clones.
The first Jade Copy smiled, tightening the hug around Jade. “Why not? Wasn’t it fun?”
Jade’s face grew red. “Well, yeah it was. But, with Tohru in the next room, and with,” Jade looked around at the clones around her nervously. “It would be, really weird.”
The copy smiled. She suddenly opened her mouth and let out a loud shrike, causing all the clones and Jade to back away and cover her ears. When she stopped screaming, there was nothing. No other sounds. The clones looked at the copy in confusion, before Jade walked over and peeked into the library, seeing Tohru asleep at the desk.
By the looks of it, he was WAY deep in slumber. That scream should have awaken him, but he barely budged.
There was a giggle from the first copy, as Jade turned to her. “See? If the smell from the spell, or the sneezing didn’t wake him up, then what would?”
Jade was impressed by the clone’s boldness, but she pushed it aside. “But still, with all these…others…it would be, really really weird.”
To Jade’s surprise, the copy sauntered up to her and gave her a hug, looking at her with darken eyes. “We’re all the same person here. What difference would it make?”
“Well…umm…it’s just…with the…duh…” Jade stuttered, feeling that same odd but pleasant sense again. Something about those eyes, they are filled with a dark sense, but they were also oozing with something else. She didn’t know what it was, but it sent chills down her spine.
She could feel her face burning up, her body was shaking, her heart felt heavy, and her breathing was irregular. It was the same thing that happened to her last night; and the means the they would soon…
