It Gets Worse … tis a bit of good advice in effd up situations. Keep that one thing in mind, never forget it, repeat it every time you think things are looking up ‘cause … It always gets worse … remember that whenever shit starts going south and you’ll likely be the last thing standing in the end … forget it and you’re street pizza.

Mrs. Possible ushered her odd ensemble of guests into the house stopping only Kim and Shego once more at the door. “I think we need to have a talk ladies, tonight’s going to be a good night for that, don’t you agree?” Her smile brokered no argument from either of the still stunned women.
Kim recovered first being the most experienced with her mothers manipulations, she had learned from the best but it was time to take the crown as it were. “Not a chance mom, I am still on vacation and I refuse to discuss work.” When her mother simply smiled, she began to worry.
Mrs. Possible had been at this game since graduating from college, politics were as much a part of doctoring as surgery especially when you were in her league, she had perhaps thirty other people at her level globally. “Who said anything about work Kimmiekins? I’d like to know when you planned on telling us that’s all.” With that, she turned and stepped inside leaving a speechless Kim standing with a slightly scared Shego.
Shaking her head to recover her sense of self, Shego turned to her long time rival, “She is damn good and here I thought you had the mind game working from just school.” When Kim scowled Shego grinned and chuckled deviously, “So are we going to stand here all night or are we going to send this New Year out right?” She added, “Aren’t you going to invite me IN?” when Kim remained shell-shocked, this got through however and Kim blushed lightly.
“Sorry just … stunned to be honest.” Kim did a slight bow and waved her hand towards the still open door. “Please come on in.” She could not believe she was about to have another party with Drakken and Shego, then she remembered Bonnie was there and she ‘eeped’ quietly as Shego walked past. This of course caught her attention.
“See something you like Princess?” Her grin was playful yet predatory and Kim tried not to stare. “Don’t sweat it Kimmie, I don’t think you mom is going to kill us yet but I did expect you to have this issue covered by now. You are the good girl in this equation correct?” She reached out, grabbed Kims good hand, and pulled her gently into the house so she could shut the door. “Cold may not bother you Princess but in civvies I’m effn freezing here.”
Kim snorted a bit at that and actually found that now that her brain was functional once more she was freezing as well. “Define ‘good’ because I’m not so sure of the definition anymore.” She shrugged and stepped into the partial hall that lead to both her room’s access ladder and the living room. “Make yourself comfortable but don…” She didn’t get the chance to finish as Shego promptly flopped down in the spot she favored on the large couch. Uttering a barely audible growl she marched to the far side and sat beside her brother, which of the pair she didn’t care.
Mrs. Possible quietly observed the pair as she saw Ron and Drakken begin to unload the party supplies they had brought with. She needed a diversion for the men and had to think quick because it appeared Ron had brought the works party favor wise. Then it hit her, it would be the best distraction for this lot of men there could ever be. “Honey can I have a word with you please.” It wasn’t a question and James Possible knew where to go.
Moments later Mrs. Possible walked into the living room, looked to Shego, then Kim, and smiled sweetly, they knew they were in for trouble at that instant. “Shego, Kim, Bonnie, James is going to pick up a few things, and taking the boys with, all of them, is there anything either of you would like while they’re out?” Every male in the house headed for the coat rack.
Shego looked from the mother to the daughter and back again several times trying to decide between run, stay but decline the offer or stay and have them pick up something strong to drink. The look on Kim’s face decided for her. “If it’s cool I’d like a bottle of tequila, preferably the eighteen hundred escpeciale. If not that then some perhaps some chamomile tea, I sense headache coming regardless.”
To her mild astonishment, Kim's mother looked expectantly towards her. “I wouldn’t mind a glass or two of the mead we had last winter.” She wasn’t old enough to buy the drink but both her parents had said if and when reached the point she wanted a taste and they agreed it wouldn’t hurt they would be ok with it so long as she remained in the house. Their reasoning was they preferred her come to them with her questions and ask, she often did. Last year she had tested the guidelines and much to her surprise she was handed a warm coffee cup of mead. The rest of the night was spent with a rather pleasant glow radiating from her.
Bonnie chuckled from across the room, “So Kimmie’s a lush?” She lifted her shoulder off the wall she had leaned against and started down the steps with a wicked smile upon her lips. “Don’t go all harsh on me Kim, Happy holidays.” Her smile was broad and genuine as she held out her hand in truce. Then she saw the cast on the shaking hand, “Oops err sorry.”
Shego was positively fuming as the tall former cheerleader eyed Kim, she had a very familiar glint in her eye and as she looked Kim over Shego knew, Bonnie was sizing her up. She ought to know that look very well for all the times she’d worn it herself. “So what’s your story? Bonnie is it?”
“Nope that’s not for me to say, I’m under a strict confidentiality clause until further notice. Besides Ron needs to be the one to tell you that mess.” Kim gaped at the young woman in front of her; Bonnie seemed on edge and far too familiar with Ron for her taste. “I am going to tell you this … I’m your replacement, Kimmie.” That predatory smile Shego knew so well sprang back into place and ruffled her scales.
There was a resounding ‘WHAT?’ from the three other women in the room who looked from one to another then back to Bonnie.
‘Gotta put a stop to this ferociously quick! … got it!’ “Whoah there Bonnie, time out. I am on vacation until Midnight tonight, no work means no work so chill ok?” To Shego she simple arched an eyebrow. Shego tensed for a split second then seemed to settle down. With a nod from her Kim turned her attention to her mother. “Unless there’s something else then shouldn’t the guys be going now?”
Mrs. Possible turned to Bonnie who was pacing the open area in the kitchen, “Would you care for something special tonight?” She saw the look on the young woman’s face and smiled to herself. “You are eighteen as well right?” She asked as she turned to find her husband.
“Strawberry wine cooler if I err …” She’d had a few small drinks here and there throughout high school and had already more than paid for hiding it from her mother, she didn’t think she would mind in this case considering who she was with. When Mrs. Possible smiled and nodded she relaxed a bit more. The Possibles were a much nicer family than she wanted to admit and she swore she would never admit to actually having a good time with Kim, publicly.
When Mrs. Possible left they felt into an awk-weird silence, Kim being the most fidgety, she was in the same room with the two primary sources of crap in her life up to that point and she had to play nice and smile. Shego was stewing in muted frustration, Bonnie being the primary source for her as well. With the 'odd girl out' sitting in Shego couldn’t be quite as direct as she would prefer to be. She liked her privacy where she could get it, when it came to the situation between her and Kim at the moment the fewer who knew the better. Bonnie was just eager to see how Kim would react to Ron’s plans, the green woman factored in somehow but she hadn’t figured it out yet. She did know that if Shego glared at her once more as she did a few minutes ago, truce or not she was going to hand the bitch her ass.
They heard the front door shut and the large truck grind its way out onto the road to town shortly there after Mrs. Possible came in and turned on the TV, “So Bonnie, your working with Ron and Drakken now?” She ignored Kim’s glare for the moment, Bonnie was a known thorn in her daughters side and she was curious as to why.
“Sorry Mrs. Possible the only thing I can say right now is wait till Ron gets back, it’ll be loads of fun.” She smiled rather sweetly at the older Possible. “I used to work for BurgerSlinger but something much better came my way.” She wasn’t really lying she wasn’t working for Drakken or Stoppable, they were her partners. She hated to admit that but in the last month she found out why Kim made it back so many times. Drakken’s simulator room beat that lesson into them both, repeatedly.
“Can you at least tell us what’s in those boxes?” Kim ventured, Bonnie seemed to be ok for the moment and she was rather curious.
“That I can do though you should know it by now, you get the first crate off each run when it’s at its absolute best.” She bent over and ripped open the cow-patterned box on top, snatching one loose she pitched it straight at Kim who saw it coming and caught it cleanly with her left hand. “Good to see you haven’t let this month make you completely soft Possible.” There was the glare again but as she looked at the other two women she realized none were terribly happy. “I’m playing nice see? Miss? Would you care for one?” Shego nodded briskly and she pitched another of the cans across the room.
Shego stopped glaring when she noticed the precise shot Bonnie had made put the can in a position that even if she hadn’t managed to catch it, it wouldn’t be going too far past her. “Good arm.” She muttered, she had seen the clean arc in the pitch made to Kim and had been giving the woman a much closer inspection. Shego was forced to up her appraisal of Bonnie a notch or two.
“Thanks, I used to have a mean fastball but girls don’t get to play baseball in Middleton, Softball only and to be honest that game sucks.” She had enjoyed a full inter-gender athletics program in school Upperton, before she had to move to Middleton. Denied the sport of her choice she’d taken cheer leading. “Oh it’s best if you really shake the hell outta those, trust me on this.”
Kim relaxed a bit as she looked the can it did say shake well clearly printed on the label, “It’s not going to explode or hose me down is it?” She was still leery and more so as Bonnie rolled her eyes. “Fine.” She took the can on the only hand she had available and shook it as if she would some of her chemistry projects from school. When Bonnie said ‘that should do it’ she was glad to stop, her left arm had been taking the brunt of the abuse since the right was out of commission, it even took her a few tries to open the unfamiliar pull tab that opened the can completely. The instant the smell hit her she recognized it and took a long drink. “Damn!” She slapped a hand over her mouth at the exclamation and the other women enjoyed a good laugh.
Mrs. Possible looked to Bonnie for a second then turned her focus to Shego. “I’m sorry I tricked you into coming Shego but when I realized it was you Kimmie was signaling I thought spending tonight alone would be a crime,” At this she cast a cockeyed grin to her daughter who had a look of dawning understanding plastered across her face. An extremely bright blush followed this. “Don’t worry Kimmiecakes, I didn’t keep watching though I can’t say the same for your brothers. Ever thought of using the phone?” She was having a great time teasing her normally rock solid daughter. The summer after graduation had brought her to a fine edge. The last fight with Shego knocked her down and for that she had forgiven Shego for hurting her daughter at all, from time to time Kim needed to be humbled. Getting too familiar or comfortable in life or death situations can make all the difference when it mattered most and a consistent string of wins guaranteed nothing in her chosen profession.
Bonnie snorted and sat down across the room in the chair nearest the TV, “I don’t think you have to worry about them, they’ve had other things occupying their minds.” She had seen them several times over the last few weeks talking or working with Drakken to build the machine that was churning out hundreds of thousands of cans of mug-o-moo and original blend coco-moo, she guessed Drakken had insisted on that but really didn’t care. As long as the paycheck continued to be stupid big, she was employed.
Since she had already figured this ‘new’ information out Shego wasn’t quite as stunned by the admission. “I actually did try to call once, got so nervous the phone melted, which reminds me I need to get another one.” She wasn’t about to let the older woman intimidate her, no matter how good she thought she was Shego was not about to back down to this Possible anymore than she would have Kim. “I think it rang a time or two before meltdown.”
“If you don’t mind, why were the two of you talking at all?” Bonnie was curious and as she had been finding out curiosity was a dangerous thing. “I mean weren’t you two big time enemies?”
Kim looked to the woman across the couch from her, Shego simply shrugged and sipped at her mug-o-moo. “I was bored and I knew Shego was there so I sent her a short message, it kind of got more complicated from there.” She dropped her gaze to the carpet examining it closely, she been lonely the last few months With Monique off to w:st="on"> w:st="on">Malaysia for college the only female companionship she had had was the brief moments of contact with her mother and Dr. Director, close as they were there were things she preferred to discuss with other people.
Bonnie stole covert glances at Shego every now and then as she processed the tension into the equation; things had certainly become complicated in her estimation. “So what have you been doing since graduation, Kim?” she grinned wickedly adding, “Besides saving the world.”
If she could have hugged Bonnie at that moment, she probably would have for diverting the topic. “Not much truthfully, Mom insisted that if I took the year off before heading to college that I should at least take some part time classes at the local college, to keep me current and earn some extra credits before I dive in to the big pond.” She didn’t bother to mention she took most of the classes online and had her entire course work finished, she had had plenty of time for it the first week out of the hospital. “You?”
“I’m waiting for the replies but as you said, truthfully I probably won’t bother with it.” She enjoyed the confused look on Kim’s face, she always enjoyed tweaking the girl any way she could. It was almost a hobby for her at this point. “My current gig has me set for life even if I walked away right now, not that I would.”
Shego almost choked on the last of her drink as she began to piece tidbits together, she quickly looked the can over and saw the label she had feared, R & D Limited. “So that’s it.” She ran through a number of scenarios trying to decipher the plan the men had cobbled together. The coco-moo was the key element but she would never have imagined them capable of pulling it off. Not on their own at least. Shego looked around the room for a second before she spotted the remote. “May I look for something on tv Mrs. Possible? It will only take a minute.”
Curious Mrs. Possible nodded and tossed the remote to Shego, “Be my guest just ask Kimmie to show you how the thing works. I’m lucky to find the channels I like.” She didn’t watch much in the way of tv until they got the ultra expanded package and she got hospital-tv, three different channels no less, out of nearly eight hundred.
Flipping the remote over Shego put her fingernail into the slot that usually held the battery cover in place and was rewarded with a chirp that surprised the other woman. “Trick o the trade ladies. Now which channel is it?” She hit the menu button and instead of the standard movie and channel listings, it flashed a skull and crossbones then flicked to a rather dark version of the normal menu. It only took her a moment to find what she was looking for and soon they were watching a telethon of sorts. “Cool you guys got the really nice package. This is the annual Conquestathon, Drakken has won it the last six years running.” She hit the info button on the remote and was stunned to see that Drakken’s name wasn’t there, this Conquestathon was being held for some putze named Z.
“They have ‘telethons’ for villains now?” Kim knew she should not have been surprised, the villain community had a long-standing tradition of helping each other out when they weren’t ripping each other off. “And Drakken’s ‘won’ several times?” It truly boggled the mind.
“I know I know believe me I know.” Shego frowned and shuddered at the memories, “Drakken spent three days just dancing happy, last time.” Whom ever this Z was they had a hella big pot building, it was clearing the two hundred million mark with just under three hours to go. “Dr. D’s going to be disappointed this year it seems.”
“Nope, don’t think so Shego. He has kept quite busy while you were away.” Bonnie had seen the lights of the truck she was so familiar with top the hill and pull onto the road leading past the house. It was almost time for the fun to begin. It would likely take a chisel and torch to remove the grin from her face.
Kim looked back and forth between Shego and Bonnie and made note, all of her weird-ar alerts had just went off scale, again. From Shego tuning their cable set to the Villainy Network to Bonnie's alternating naughty to nice and back performance to her mothers calculating eyes. The eldest of the group had said very little but seen everything. She put her finger and thumb to the bridge of her nose and began massaging it gently, this would be a headache night for certain, she could feel it building already. About then the front door flew open and the tweebs came rocketing in, literally.
For the next two hours and change there was a constant battle of whit and will in the Possible household, Between Kim Shego and Mrs. Dr. Possible not a single one of the men cracked, it was suspected that those who might actually not know were kept in the dark because of their habit of talking, nonstop. Ron and Drakken had been unflappable insisting that it had to do with Kim and Shegos work and as this was the last day of their ‘vacation’ they weren’t about to be blamed for ruining it. When the tweebs discovered the villainy auction network, they came within a hairs breath of being grounded for importing unstable isotopes. Mr. Dr. Possible insisted if they were going to buy after market goods they should at least verify the quality especially with isotopes. This was the cue for the woman to beat a hasty retreat, not that they weren’t interested nor able to follow the discussion. They just didn’t want to be bored silly with the petty one up-manship that was inevitable.
While the men settled in for a few minutes of tech talk the women were lead to the garage and the ladder leading to the roof. Mrs. Possible had turned on the patio heater much earlier in the day and the roof patio was nearly dry and completely free of snow or ice. “Kimmie, could you show Shego and Bonnie where the chairs are, please and thank you.” She turned her attention to the table and small cabinet set mounted underneath, it was really a fancy piping system they used to move food from the kitchen to the patio, courtesy of G.J. Since they had preloaded it when Ron unpacked, she simply had to have it send all the tubes in the queue.
Shego unfolded several chairs and offered them to Kim and Mrs. Possible but let Bonnie finish with her arm full. “Someone care to tell me why I’m sitting in ten degree weather on someones roof as midnight draws near?” She wasn’t complaining in truth, the roof heater radiated a nice comfortable zone rising off the roof, she was a bit chilled but as her feet adjusted to the added warmth she found it quite enjoyable. ‘Damn they get nice toys here.’ She wasn’t terribly jealous only mildly so.
Kim surprised her with a tap on the shoulder, she had the small bottle of tequila her dad had picked up for her but she also indicated something else, a steaming coffee cup. Memories, other memories of the coco-moo still relatively fresh she was a touch leery. “It’s no big Shego, just some hot cinnamon mead.” She took her seat and relaxed, the show would be starting soon and she could care less who was there with her on the roof. She loved this night most of all because she had been allowed to stay up well past her bedtime just to celebrate the new year and every year she could remember the three towns nestled in the valley below put on a spectacular fireworks show. She never missed them, not once in the time since she had first been allowed.
Shego tensed as she heard footsteps coming up behind her relaxing only when she was certain she recognized each set, it was not that difficult to guess most of them but Mr. Possible was a very quiet walker. She could see Kim checking her watch as if expecting something really big and guessed it was supposed to happen at midnight. It did, without warning. The town of w:st="on">Middletown directly below them touched off a tremendous volley of artillery shell fireworks, most of which only went slightly higher than the top of the Possible house.
Ron Rufus and the Possible family sat rock still and transfixed by the dazzling display thundering before them, everyone else had ducked and tried to find cover. They were just realizing what was happening when Lowerton kicked in their display, which consisted mostly of snaky fireworks that had a deafening boom in them. Every few seconds a brilliant strobe type would flash to life lighting the entire valley for a moment. A few seconds later Upperton pitching their hand in and for the next five minutes the sky above the entire valley roared, some of the sidewinder types had different colours and were fired off at angles that carried them up and down the length of the valley, stunning booms went off in air raid sequence rattling every on the roof. As the smell of spent gunpowder drifted from the dazzling display Shego couldn’t stop smiling. That was how fireworks were meant to be in her opinion.
They could not speak for another hour after the display ended, it took that long for them to empty nearly every aspirin bottle in the house and find places to sit and recover. The smell of gunpowder was everywhere, the wind had carried the smoke across to them but they didn’t mind, once inside they could breathe freely and try to get the buzzing to stop. Mrs. Possible got up and slipped off to the kitchen leaving them to flounder around the living room. When she returned she dialed the lights down somewhat and set a tray of steaming mugs down, she was rather partial to the drink herself and quite happy her daughter enjoyed it as well.
After enjoying a few moments of silence and warm drinks Kim forced herself upright and assumed a cross legged position on the couch. Vacation was over, she had less than five hours to get sleep in and rest before Shego was to be there, Shego was still here though which presented a problem to be dealt with shortly. “Ron.”
Ron felt his palms go damp with slight fear, he looked directly at her as his head lolled around a bit before he managed to get it upright. “Kim?” He could see the rest of the group rising, they probably were looking for better seats to the massacre he was about to be.
“My replacement? Bonnie? Explain please.” She should have worried about the Drakken connection, she should have worried about the coco-moo but she focused on Bonnie. Old habits die hard. “I’m waiting.”
Ron ran a finger around the collar of his shirt it was now or never. “Naa don’t think so KP. You got business you need to focus on, when you get back then we’ll talk.” He couldn’t help but see the delight in Bonnies face as a ferocious rage was building on Kim’s. “Ok fine!” He wouldn’t tell her everything of course, just what she needed to know. “It was a stroke of utter genius I swear Kim, I was so inspired I decided to give it a try myself so I made a little wager.” Drakkens mumbling could be heard quite distinctly.
“Let me get this straight, You made a bet with Drakken? The ‘bad guy’ and apparently won?” Kim wasn’t sure which she wanted to do first, strangle pummel or hug. His dumb luck had to pay off big again eventually. “So this explains him being here exactly how? And don’t think I’m forgetting about ‘my replacement’ because that’s so not gonna happen.”
Ron swallowed as his mouth suddenly became the sahara. This was going to be brutal. “The bet with Drakken was simple and he lost, end of line there, the stakes, me his chef if I lost, if he lost he goes legit and partners with me on a project I will not be discussing any further.” She was glaring at him so seriously he could feel his eyebrows being singed.
At this point Drakken decided to step in and save his partner, though he had enjoyed watching Stoppable squirm. “That reminds me Shego your contract expires in three months correct?” Her confirming nod sufficed. “Well I am afraid I won’t be able to afford your fees anymore but if you are still interested after your … mission? Err I can give you the number who will hire you outright no questions asked name your price.” He could see her working the numbers over, true to form her w:st="on">Cheshire grin was there.
“Don’t forget you owe me for six months sick leave and bonuses still.” She didn’t really need the money it was just a game to her, a fun game with expensive toys. Her smile dropped a touch as he stood and stretched followed by Ron and Bonnie. “What are y’all leaving already?” She checked her watch, “Shit.”
“Shego language please!” Mrs. Possible tried to hide the grin but suspected Shego saw it. “It is getting late, drive carefully you guys.” She gave a tired wave to their retreating backs.
“Mom you’re not seriously going to let them drive, I know mead isn’t that strong but Ron can’t finish a cup.” Kim was getting pretty worked up about it and almost got up to call them back when her mother stopped her and stood up herself.
“They haven’t had a drop, I know Ron can’t handle it as for Drakken, not a chance and your father is saving his for … later.” She had a devious smile that Kim didn’t want to even think about. “If I recall that only leaves you and Shego, the couch is there Shego feel free.” With that she tapped her husband on the shoulder and prompted him to lead the way to their bedroom.
Kim could only scratch her head in wonder, the aliens must have borrowed her family again. “You want me to get a few blankets and a pillow or two for you Shego?”
Shego looked up at Kim and wondered what the hell she was talking about. She had been going over what Ron had and had not said and was fitting pieces together. “Huh?”
Pinching the bridge of her nose Kim repeated the offer to stay and the pillows and the blankets and by the time she was done she was blushing so hard her ears were hurting again.
Shego actually had to think about it for a moment, she was seriously tempted but Kim had set the example, vacation was over it was time to go to work. “Thanks Princess but I must decline, I will allow for a time change in our arrangement, notta snowballs chance in hell I’ll be up in … two hours.” She made a beeline for the coat rack and began slipping into hers. “It’s not too bad a walk.”
Kim had her coat and boots on a second later and was following Shego out the door, much to the older womans dismay. “Don’t sulk Shego, I just want to see what your house looks like ok?” Shego glared angrily at her but said nothing and started across the field. Kim followed in silence enjoying the brisk winter air, now that the smoke had cleared the cities below had ‘gone to bed’ dimming the lights so the stars could be seen again. She watched as Shego leapt over the first of the two fences separating their houses. Cast and all she managed to hop over with fair ease. She knew on landing though she would need to spend several days getting her tone back.
Shego had paid careful attention to Kims jump, the cast threw her slightly but she compensated well for it. The next fence would be a challenge. The fence ran across the steepest section of the up rise her house was perched on, four legged animals didn’t have too hard a time with the slope but it made for a difficult jump and Kim would have to make it twice.
The final fence went smoother than either had expected, on the upside at least. A tree had partially fallen and some of its larger branches stretched up and over the fence, easy to get to on the inside not so much on the outside. Once they were on the other side Shego picked up the pace, she didn’t have any problems with cold weather but given the choice she preferred nice and warm, usually indoors, with sunlamps.
With Kim in tow she gave the doorknob a twist and opened it slowly, Greystoke might not take to a stranger and she wanted to see Kim’s reaction. She decided to get this over with as fast as possible, she wasn’t worried about the cat or Kim so much as her collection of jade dragons. “Be careful Princess, please, and don’t let the kitty startle you. He has gotten pretty good at stalking.”
No sooner than the words had left her lips Kim saw a dark shape lunge from out of nowhere, it growled savagely and rolled with Shego in its powerful claws as if the woman were its play toy. Which, in a way she probably was. After thoroughly slobbering all over Shegos face the cat turned and took notice of the guest. Kim nearly wet herself when the cat dropped its ears and drew down into the pounce mode, it took everything she had to not embarrass herself seriously when the cat followed through with the pounce.
Shego panicked as she saw the large feline wrap itself around Kim pinning her to the floor and snarling furiously. She was half standing when she heard a childish giggle fit, obviously the situation wasn’t as drastic as it had seemed. Her ferocious tabby reduced to a purring whimp, at least the cat had good taste in people. “You ok there Peaches? Sounded like a pretty solid impact to me.”
Kim managed to shove the heavy cat off her and make her way to a stand. “I seem to have that affect on cats.” She reached down and ruffed the back of the leopards head and felt its deep rumbling purr through her leg as it tried to rub her over. “I’ve saved quite a few, I guess they got to talking.” The cat put a large paw across her stomach trying to get her attention again and Kim noticed the scar it had on its dewclaw. “Hey I know that!”
Shego gaped, “You can’t be serious Possible? You’re the one who patched him up back then?” She had come across the cat as it was busy eating fish it had been swatting out of the river, the cat had a fair pile and she thought she’d take one, she had been surprised the feline was so calm as she approached the area where the fish were flopping around. The cat took a swat at her when she picked up a fish and when she jumped back on the defense it pounced and proceeded to lick her silly. “Do you know what he did to that foot, he sometimes favors it still.” She squat down and took the grayish green cat by the ruff of its jowls scratching gently as the cat purred for all it was worth.
Kim had been repressing a grin for a while now and could do so no longer, “Err Shego, I uh hate to tell you this but that cat, yeah it’s a she.” She had expected Shego to be upset but the woman turned to her with an excited grin.
“Really?” she made a show of looking the cat over but had no idea what exactly she should be looking for. “I wouldn’t know, never had pets growing up. I just kinda stumbled across her and she hasn’t left me alone since the miserable fleabag.” She stretched and stood again before taking Kim by the elbow and leading her back to the still open door. “I do apologize, Peaches but we both need to get some rest and your mom will likely drive up here if she doesn’t see you heading back like now so get out!” The look on Kims face was priceless as she slammed the door and thumbed the lock. Once sealed in Shego let out with a gut busting laugh before she lead the cat to bed, shower and food could wait till whenever.
Kim shook her head as she walked away, Shego was fun, weird but fun. She looked at the cast on her arm and gave it a test lift, she knew the weight intimately at this point but it was slightly looser than it had been when first applied and that had caused her slight missteps on her landings. She looked at the fence then the limbs leaning out over the road. The same limbs she had dropped down from right after Shego. With a deep breath she took off at a full run for the fence hitting it about two foot off the ground, letting her forward momentum carry her into the somewhat springy cyclone she climbed a couple of steps vertical before the fence was pushing her back the way she came. With the extra boost the fence gave her she flew at the lowest of the two closest branches, her arc was a touch off but she managed to land just above the leafy ends of the branch. It was not her best performance but certain far from her worste. It only took her a few minutes to climb through the tangle of smaller limbs and out on the main branch she had originally wanted, getting home after that, no big.
