“Don’t worry; we’ll be over there in a bit.” Sam replied. “See ya soon Danny.”
“Yeah, be right over there.” Tucker said, just before hanging up.
Danny hung up the phone and sat on the corner of his bed, near his alter ego’s feet. “How freaked out do you think they’ll be?” Danny asked, a smirk on his lips.
Dan grinned back, “Very.”
“What do you think Danny has planned?” Tucker asked, rummaging through the files on his faithful PDA.
“I don’t know,” Sam replied. “It can’t be all that bad; I mean, Danny didn’t sound upset or anything. In fact, he almost sounded... happy.” Her eyebrows came together and her hand cupped her chin.
“Maybe he finally got a girlfriend,” Sam shot him a glance. Tucker looked back at her, but scoffed. “Did you actually think I was serious?” he ended, almost laughing.
“You’re right,” Sam smiled, but in her mind, she played the time where that ghost, Kitty, overshadowed Paulina and forced Danny to go out with her. And the time where Ember mind-controlled him so that he was head-over-heels in love with her. ‘I hope it’s not another repeat of that...’ she thought.
“Uh, Sam?” Tucker said.
She dropped her thoughts and snapped back to reality, “What?”
“You’re thinking too much; you almost missed Danny’s house,” He looked up at the massive building, “Although, how you could miss it is beyond me.”[1]
She frowned, “Whatever.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
There was a knock on his bedroom door. ‘It’s gotta be Sam and Tucker,’ the dark haired boy thought to himself. Danny muttered something that ended with a laugh before opening the door. “Come on in guys,” he said with a mischievous grin.
“So what was this you said before, about us thinking you were crazy?” Sam asked, trying to hide a smirk.
“I’ll show you, but you have to promise not to scream,” Danny said while glancing around, and making sure the room was secure.
“Calm down dude. I’m sure it’s not that creepy,” Tucker reassured his friend.
Danny shrugged, “Alright then...” He turned to the wall, “You can come out now.”
Sam closed her eyes and shook her head, ‘Not another ghost dog...’
‘I have to make a good first impression. My other first impression wasn’t that great,’ Dan thought, remembering that encounter with the Fenton Ghost Catcher. ‘Just relax, and act natural. Just be yourself. Yeah, myself...’ He took a deep breath and passed through the wall. “Uh, hi?”
Tucker nearly dropped his PDA.
Sam looked like a statue; her face contorted like she had, well for lack of a better phrase, just seen a ghost. [2]
“Sam?” Danny asked; this wasn’t the reaction he was hoping for.
“But, you’re right here, and he’s there... but that’s not...” she stuttered, but her train of thought had just derailed and her mind went blank.
Danny totally failed to catch Sam when she fainted.
“Danny,” the ghost boy said, his lower half still on the other side of the wall, “this is so not my fault.”[3]
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Hey, I think she’s waking up,”
Sam slowly opened her eyes to four pairs of eyes on her; Tucker, Jazz, Danny and... another Danny in ghost form. “Wha-?” She asked, her mind still in a daze.
“You feeling better now?” Danny asked.
“Y-yeah, I think so,” she groaned, pulling herself up off the floor. “What happened?”
“You fainted, like ten minutes ago,” Tucker answered, checking for the fifth time that his precious PDA was still working properly.
“I was out for ten minutes?” her mouth slightly open in disbelief.
“I heard a loud thump upstairs and ran to see what it was. I am his older sister, you know,” Jazz said. She sighed and crossed her arms, “And then I found you on the ground with these three all around you.”
“Wait, so I’m not seeing things?” Sam questioned. “There really are two Dannys?” Dan’s face flushed and he looked to the side.
“Yeah,” Danny simply replied. “I already tried to explain it to Jazz while you were still unconscious, but it’s just so… hard to explain.
“You know,” Jazz said, her hand in her hair, “Maybe you could explain it again, with Sam being awake this time. This is just too weird.”
“It’s just as I said before, Jazz,” Danny replied, rolling his eyes. “I had an old lady dump some powder stuff on me and the next day, I find him sleeping next to me in my bed.” He pointed to his alter ego.
“Hey, it’s not like I wanted to be here,” Dan lied. He actually did wish to be here, in that exact situation. He had to force himself not to blush.
“Whatever,” Danny sighed. “We have no clue how to undo this, and my only guess is to find that lady again and hope she knows what to do.”
“Do you even remember where you ran into her?” Tucker asked, rummaging through his files, pulling up maps of the town.
“Yes...” Danny quickly said, before adding, “Er... actually no, not really.” He sighed, “I was walking home from school yesterday. Wait, there was that ghost. I caught it easily, but I can’t remember where it was.” He shrugged, slumping his shoulders.[4]
“...So, you have no idea then,” Tucker replied.
“She came out of an alley, I do remember that,” the dark haired boy said, pointing a finger. “She just jumped out of nowhere and surprised me. Saying something about things haunting me before dumping that powder all over me.” He fell onto his bed, face first into the pillow. Jazz took a seat beside him, rubbing the curve of Danny’s back.
“Anything else? You know, the more you tell us, the faster it’ll be to find a solution,” she said reassuringly.
Danny turned his head, looking as far back as he could without moving the rest of his body, “That night, right before I fell asleep was just weird. I took a shower, to get that powder off of me, but the last thing I remembered was that smell coming back, stronger than ever. I tried to ignore it and fall asleep, but just as I did, I saw these colors even though my eyes were closed.”
“You sure there wasn’t anything illegal in that powder?” the other boy snickered, getting a swift elbow to the chest by Sam soon thereafter.
“I did think I was on something, after I woke up and saw him, but it’s not just me; you see him too.”
“Um, I’m right here, you know,” Dan said, clearly annoyed. He sighed and looked off to the side. “I saw the colors too right before I fell asleep.”
“You saw them too? But how?” Jazz exclaimed. A pause later she added, “Aren’t you just a part of Danny? How could you have existed before all this?”
Dan continued to stare off into the distance, “I... don’t know. I just did. I can’t explain it, that’s all.”
An awkward silence filled the room for what felt like hours on end. Dan continued to stare off at nothing; Danny wasn’t focused on anything in particular either, but the other three, Sam, Tucker and Jazz looked at the two boys and back to one another.
Jazz nodded in an unspoken agreement, “Listen, I’ll go out and try to find this woman and the alley.” She stood up and smiled, “I’m sure she’s still out there.”
“We’ll go too,” Sam said, dragging Tucker along with her. “Besides, you two have gone through a lot right now. I think you should try to rest a bit.”
“But what about any ghost attacks?” Danny asked.
Jazz smirked, “What do we have in the basement? There’s more than enough stuff to catch any old ghost. I think I can handle myself quite well. It's a way to get closer to the rest of my ghost catching family.” She grinned, causing Danny to smile back.
The three left, leaving both Danny and Dan alone in the room. Danny brought himself up; Dan heard the slight squeaking and turned to face him.
“Dan,” he sighed. “You sounded like you didn’t want to say anything back then, but... what was it like, you know... before all this happened?”
The white haired boy chewed his bottom lip, unable to say anything.
Danny stood up and placed a hand on the other’s shoulder, “You don’t have to tell me now. I’m sure it’s tough, but I can wait until you’re ready to tell me.” He was about to pull his hand back when Dan clamped his own hand on top of Danny’s.
“No, now is a good time. I just didn’t want to say it in front of the others.” He sighed and turned around to face his other half. “I’ve always lived inside you, even though you’ve never realized it; it was that ‘accident’ where you got your ghost powers when I truly ‘woke up’ and remember the time being. I could somehow tap into your senses; see what you saw and hear what you heard; I could even hear your thoughts and read your emotions. You truly were my door to the outside world.”[5]
Danny was speechless; none of his thoughts seemed to make it into words. Dan couldn’t stand to look at those sapphire eyes any longer and he turned his head away with a heavy heart. Danny did the only thing he felt that would comfort his alter ego.
He hugged him.
Dan was caught off guard, his arms trapped by Danny’s embrace, the boy’s chest against his back; he could even feel his heartbeat. Dan almost forgot how to breathe, “Danny...”
“I'm so sorry,” he nearly sobbed, using all his strength to keep the tears back. “It must have been so hard.”
Dan managed to turn back, placing his hands on the dark haired boy’s hips and pulling him closer. “It was,” he said, nuzzling his cheek into that silky raven hair. “But it’s not so bad now.”
‘It brought me here with you,” he said in his mind, unable to give it words. ‘I want to tell you everything, but...’
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
A few hours had passed; Jazz, Sam and Tucker had no such luck finding any old ladies with powder. Dinner came and went, Jack’s newest creation, the Fenton Better Mouse Trap (complete with cheese made from the Fenton Easy-Bake Oven), the centerpiece of the table. Danny quickly made a sandwich and raced it upstairs.
“Why’d you bring up a sandwich? Didn’t you get enough to eat at dinner?” Dan asked, giving the other boy a sideways glance.
He held the sandwich in his outstretched hands, presenting it to the ghost goy, “Halfas have to eat too, right?”[6]
“I guess so...” he said as he picked it up questioningly. He never had to eat anything in the past, and he wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Danny gave him an anxious ‘go ahead' look, so he shrugged and took a bite.
For such a plain looking sandwich, it was really good, like beyond his expectations good. “Whoa,” he mumbled after swallowing.
Danny grinned, “Told ya.”
Dan smiled back, warmth flooding his body. This was the Danny he loved; the kind-hearted, overly generous boy with intentions purer than newly fallen snow. How he wanted to leap up and kiss those smiling lips and tell him a thousand times over of his unconditional love... but he couldn’t.
What if Danny didn’t feel the same? If he did confess his love, would he get offended and step away and never want anything to do with him? This one opportunity to be close to him lost because of his impatience?
No, he wouldn’t let that happen. Even if he was considered nothing more than a friend, if he could be close to Danny, that was worth more than the risk of proclaiming his love and possibly being shot down.
Dan finished his meal, smiling on the outside, yet heavy hearted on the inside.
“So... where are you gonna sleep tonight?” Danny asked, breaking the other’s train of thought.
“What do you mean?”
“I can’t let you sleep on the floor; that’d just be rude, but at the same time, if my parents found me sleeping on the floor, they’d know something’s up...” he thought out loud.
“Then why don’t we just... share?”
Danny’s eyebrows arched high, “What are you talking about?”
“That way your parents won’t get suspicious, and you don’t feel bad. It all works out,” he grinned, starting to climb into bed. “Besides, you know me; I’m you.”
Danny chuckled back, “You’re right.” He yawned, feeling drained from the day. It felt a bit awkward to crawl into his bed with someone else already in it. Nonetheless, he got under the sheets, and reached out to turn off the last remaining light. Danny lied down, tugging for some more of the blanket, which Dan reluctantly gave up.
It wasn’t long before the dark haired boy fell fast asleep, watched carefully by green eyes. “I’d give up everything to make time stop so we could just stay be like this,” he murmured softly, draping his arm around the other’s slim waist. “I’d go through all the loneliness and heartache of the past ten times over just to be this close to you. I’ll never let you go.”
Dan fell asleep with a smile still on his lips, feeling like the happiest man that ever lived.

Ending A/N-> Yeah, sorry about the wait. It’s strange; I think I wrote this in two sittings, more or less. I guess once I start typing, I just keep going with it. Wow... I kinda have a plan for the next chapter, and what’s this? I think I see a lemon!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
He shot his head up, glaring his glowing green eyes into Danny’s blue ones, “You’re so careless at times! Why did you put yourself in that kind of danger? If anything had happened to you, I... I don’t know what I’d do. ...I’d die,” he sobbed.
Danny’s mind went numb, and before he could even think of something to say, Dan did something completely out of the blue.
He kissed him.

A/N (cont)-> Yeah, that’s up ahead, maybe not the next one, but the one after that, I promise. Once I get the fluff out of my system. Oh yeah, I’m good at fluff. *big grin*
