Disclaimer: I do not own Gargoyles/Disney related but the original character, Eve Anderson, is from my own mind and is not a character of Disney. I get no pay and am only doing this for fun |
Eve settles in the back seat, letting Owen ride in the front passenger seat to give David directions. She sighs, smiling weakly at Fox. “Do I want to know what I just got myself into now?”
“Probably not.” Fox winks. “So you’re married and I wasn’t invited?” “Conniving little turd.” Eve rolls her eyes. He asked me to marry him last night and I said yes. Later on he had me repeat something in Fae and never explained what it was. I guess I know what it was now.” Fox laughs. “Well it doesn’t stop me from planning a human ceremony for you.” Eve groans. “That means more dress fitting.” “And shopping!” Fox elbows her, grinning. “So no bachelor party?” David smiles. “Absolutely not!” Owen glances back at Eve and Fox. “It seems there will be enough torture in the future.” “That means I can’t take you for a night of strippers.” David glances back at the women in the rear view mirror. “Or do you think she’d give you hell over it?” “She would skin me alive.” He feels her reaction to the word ‘stripper’ through their bond. Besides, that wouldn’t be very enjoyable for me anyway.” David lifts a brow, surprised. “Really? That gone already?” “We’re bonded.” Owen whispers softly. “She just hasn’t realized what it means yet.” David chuckles. “You are that far gone. Poor man!” “So what now?” Fox watches Eve go from nervous to calm and back again. “I don’t know.” Eve bites at her lip. “This happened so fast. I should be mad but I’m not.” “So how did he ask?” Fox glances up at Owen, ready to smack him if he didn’t do it right. Eve blushes, remembering how he asked. It was really sweet but I thought he was drunk. I really didn’t think he would remember any of it in the morning.” “What did he drink?” Fox frowns, confused. Eve shrugs, not knowing why it would matter. “Beer.” Fox leans back, laughing hard. “Oh Honey! He drinks stuff that would put a human in an instant coma! A few beers won’t faze him!” Eve meets his eyes, seeing the amusement dancing in them. “He tried to tell me but I didn’t listen.” They pull up to a diner, David glancing back at them. “This the place?” “Yep.” Eve grins. “Small but the food is perfect.” Owen climbs out, getting the door for Eve. She glances down and realizes she’s still sporting some very unusual jewelry. “Um, people are going to notice what I’m wearing.” Owen’s lips twitch up. “If you ask, they will change.” “Um, ok.” She glances around to make sure no one is close. “Could you please become more discreet so no one knows what you are?” The cuff disappears against her skin, although she can still feel it. The necklace becomes a small pendent on a chain. “Thank you.” She whispers to them. “Oh look!” Fox points across the street. “A bridal shop! We must go in after we eat!” David chuckles and takes her arm, following Eve and Owen inside. “I don’t think they cater to your expensive taste, My Dear.” Eve grins at them over her shoulder. “You’d be surprised what they have. I’m sure they can come up with something. Becky even does custom dresses.” “Perfect!” Fox beams back. She waits until the food arrives before asking what’s on her mind. “Ok, Owen. Enough beating around the bush and double talk. What exactly happened to us last night and why am I now sporting jewelry I shouldn’t be?” She sees him start to open his mouth but stops him with a look. “Don’t even try to sugar coat it. I want the plain truth or I’ll neuter you where you sit.” He can feel her anger starting to boil under the surface and pales. “We’re bonded, not married yet. I couldn’t say the truth in front of my sister because this is something no Fae has ever done with a human before.” “And what exactly does that mean?” She lays her fork down, giving him her full attention. “I can feel everything you feel and vice versa.” He pushes his plate away, unable to eat. “So why can’t I feel you right now?” She narrows her eyes at him. “I am blocking you.” His voice drops to nearly a whisper. “I didn’t want to overload and harm you.” “Show me.” She commands. His eyes lower and suddenly she’s flooded with emotions and sensations. Rattled, she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. She can feel his overwhelming fear of being rejected and love for her. “Ok. I understand. We’ll work on getting me used to it a little at a time.” The sensations abruptly stop. “You’re not telling me something thought. I felt it.” She opens her eyes, staring into his. “So long as we stay bonded, our lives are connected. If you die, so do I.” He stares back, feeling her shock. David drops his fork, staring at Owen in horror. “Did I just hear you right?” He never takes his eyes from Eve, feeling her slowly accept it. “Yes. I am essentially mortal now.” She sips her tea, trying to stay calm. “The bond can be broken?” “Yes, but only you can do it.” He quiets even further. “Is that what you want?” “No.” Her lips twitch up slightly. “You haven’t pissed me off that much yet. Besides, I’m enjoying the sex.” His face reddens as Fox coughs her drink from shock. “The jewelry as you call them are talismans. They are the ones who pick the Queen of the Fae. They have picked you.” “Oh yippee for me!” Her voice drips with sarcasm. “It was the only way I could think of to keep Oberon from harming you.” He begins to play with his fork. “It was a risk.” “I can imagine.” She reaches out and stills his hand. “What now?” “I teach you magic so I don’t have to beat off every eligible male who can’t sense our bond.” He gently squeezes her hand. She rolls her eyes. “As if they would! How can you teach me magic when I don’t have any? Did you forget?” “You do now and it will call to those who would use it.” His eyes gleam mischievously. “I could just maim the first few who show up as a lesson to the rest.” “Your inner cave elf is showing again.” David quips, winking at him. Eve laughs as her phone begins ringing. She frowns as she looks at the name on the ID. “Why would he be calling?” She answers and glances at Owen. “Yes, Justin? No I didn’t change the lock on the gate. Why?” She sees Owen shakes his head and gesture for the phone. “One moment, Justin. I think Owen wants to talk with you.” She hands the phone over and watches Owen immediately change into business mode. “I am sorry for the inconvenience, Justin. We had an issue with Mr. Getties this morning and I thought it prudent to change the locks. The loan is paid off and the bank has no reason to be on the property.” He listens quietly for a moment, lips twitching up in amusement. “Yes, my thought exactly. I will be sure to get a key made for this evening. Since we will be here for several more days, why don’t you take a few days off? Consider it a paid vacation. We will handle things in the meantime.” He winks at Eve. “Yes, we will be sure to call you if we need anything and thank you for the food and beer you left. It was exactly what we needed when we got back last night.” His smile broadens. “Yes, I promise. We will see you Friday.” He hands the phone back to Eve as she narrows her eyes at him. “You changed the locks and didn’t tell me?” “No.” He glances around. “I believe that to be Titania’s doing. She has seen the foals by now.” Eve’s eyebrows shoot up as she realizes which foals he means. “So she’s keeping everyone out?” “Not everyone. She would only keep humans out, excluding present company, of course.” He sips at his drink. “I will see what she has done and fix what I can.” “Ok.” She waves the waitress over and asks for boxes. “I think I will take the rest home for later.” “Does this mean we get to shop now?” Fox winks at her, smiling. “Yes, we get to shop.” Eve sighs, knowing it might be better to do it now than later. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
