Chapter 4
Wanda had decided, best way to figure this out was to get all these kids in the same place at the same time, separate them from the rest of the class and let nature take its course. Somehow, she’d figure out what needed to be done. Cosmo (bless him) would only screw it up and she needed to keep Jorgen out of the picture.
The hotel that school administrator Wanda Venus picked out was perfect. She had hardly needed any Fairy magic. There were a bunch of different sized villas, one was perfect for five kids plus a chaperone. There had already been some late season snow and some of the ski trails were still open. Another small snow storm was due. Wanda used some magic to make it into a heavier storm which would isolate the villas for a short period, a couple of days at most. Once she figured out what was going on, she’d end the snow storm, let the rest of the kids scatter. She magically moved the villa away from the rest, just to keep them isolated… “Should be enough time for…”
“FAIRYWINKLE!!! What are you doing here???”
There was a roar, a blast and magical hurricane of anger.
Oh, hi Jorgen, I was just… ahh, well there were these kids and I...
“SILENCE!” A blast of magic from his wand encircled her, choking off any speech. She knew she was doing something she shouldn’t, but never expected a reaction like this. “Turner?!? You dare…” A third blast wiped her memory… again and transported her back to Fairy World.
In the meantime, Jorgen removed all traces of Wanda. Moved the villa back where it belonged. Whatever she had planned was over, he told himself. Nothing had been interfered with. Turner clearly still had no memories of his Fairies. He would give Wanda a couple of extra shots of memory erasure when he got back, just to be sure. “Good thing that idiot, Cosmo spilled the beans… on my boots when I asked where she was!”
So, the five teens and the chaperone/babysitter were left alone in their villa. Timmy and Vicky immediately looked for a way to duck out on the others… at least for a few hours. They skied to the bottom of the mountain, below the level of the hotel. This was one of the closed trails.
It was a funny thing, Timmy thought. I know I’ve never been skiing before, but I know how to ski! He’d picked out the equipment, adjusted his bindings, knew all about it. But how? It was like this was part of those lost memories, except his body, his muscles and nerves remembered doing things his brain was unaware of. It bothered him for a little while, but skiing with Vicky, his Vicky, drove the thoughts of those memories from his mind.
Vicky had checked earlier with the hotel, there was a cabin down there. No one there this late in the season, though. It was locked up. Vicky smiled, hefted her purse.
Trixie and Veronica were very unhappy about the arrangements, they couldn’t imagine why they had agreed to share accommodations with the losers. It was like they were under a spell! Trixie had already arranged to switch rooms leaving Veronica on her own. Veronica, angry at being ditched, was out looking for trouble. She was going to be stuck with Timmy Turner and his dopey pals. She couldn’t stand the idea! And something was going on. On the bus ride, she had been watching Timmy. She always watched him. He spoke with his friends, laughed a lot. But he kept glancing at the red headed chaperone when he thought no one was looking. She didn’t know Vicky personally, no more than any kid who grew up in Dimmsdale and heard the stories whispered in terror of the psycho sitter from Hell. Thing was… “She keeps looking at him too. There, again, when I looked away. What is up with those two?” She had to get to the bottom of this. It might make something juicy she could share with Trixie. They had been on the outs lately and Veronica leaving her with the dweebs was, “Like, the worst!”. Maybe if she found something good to torture Turner with, she’d be back in her good graces.
Unfortunately… or fortunately, Jorgen hadn’t removed all traces of Wanda, like he had thought. Wanda’s blizzard was starting. She wasn’t there to moderate it. It was designed to drop a lot of snow and isolate the kids, once they were all rounded up in the same place. She’d planned to let it snow for a day or two, till she figured out what she was looking for, then turn it off. Sooo, it began to snow, snow hard and didn’t stop.
