22 February 1915
Helga was the first to awaken the next morning. She yawned, stretched, and rubbed her eyes clean of the usual sand. Then the arguing caught her attention. She was as naked as the day she'd been born, but that didn't bother her much any more. Elsa and Moana's blasé attitude about nudity was having what she figured was the intended effect on her. Still, she was in someone else's camp, so she began dressing even as she listened carefully to the arguing couple.
“Tarzan! This is so sudden! I know I suggested it, but I was expecting you to fight it like always! And I believe you said there were signs that a leopard was lurking around! Don't you even want to try and find it and either drive it off or kill it? What if it gets one of your family? You've already lost two of the youngest under mysterious circumstances! How do you know the leopard isn't picking off easy marks?” Jane raged.
“Jane, you being happy is what is most important to me right now! I know I haven't been around much, but I have been trying to find what is hunting the gorillas! I'd like your help with that! And I couldn't help but overhear what was said last night. If it means that much to you, then let's go to America and get tested. I should be done finding what is doing this, if it is the leopard, well before the ship leaves. You said the Arendelle ship wasn't letting them leave after all!” Tarzan returned somewhat frustrated, to Helga's ears.
“Yes, that is what Elsa told me last night. Until they round up the missing documents, Elsa won't let it leave. At least I am thinking it is some kind of documents. They weren't exactly forthcoming about what they were. But that is beside the point!
“Tarzan, you've changed. You used to listen to me. You used to be fascinated by me. Where has that gone? These days you bark orders like some alpha gorilla, expecting me to act like the gorillas, and submit and do as told. And I have told you a thousand times, you don't get to control me like that. You stopped for a bit, but now you are right back at it with this demand to go to America! Tarzan, why not England? Why all the insistence on America?” Jane demanded.
“Is this not what Jane wanted from Tarzan?” Tarzan countered.
“That is not an answer! Tarzan answer me!” Jane demanded, and Helga could almost hear her stomp her foot on the soft earth.
Helga listened, but all the returned was silence, and then Jane shouted again, “Tarzan get back here! Don't you run away again!”
Helga stepped out of the tent and looked around. The camp was deserted except for her and her two lovers. There was a small bubbling cauldron on the fire and she went to tend it. Her mind chewed on what she had heard over and over again. However, her attention was on her surroundings to the point that she heard the soft footfalls on the loam and the grumbling about “that man” under Jane's breath.
Jane seemed to stop then as she noted the awake and dressed Helga sitting at the camp fire. She plastered a smile on her face, but Helga wasn't about to let it go. Helga stood up and faced Jane, and her hand went to her holstered pistol out of pure spinal reflex. She willed her hand away when she noted that Jane was looking at it. Helga winced and decided to come straight to the point.
“I heard the fight, or at least the ending of it. Suppose you tell me what is going on, preferably before Elsa and Moana wake up,” Helga demanded in her best seductive voice.
Jane looked like she was about to refuse before she threw her hands up in the air and let out a frustrated roar. She came over and sat by the fire and her face was sullen. Helga came and sat next to her and Jane let out a huge sigh.
“It was our usual fight again. Only this time he agreed to leave and get tested. He knows that if he leaves he won't be able to protect the gorillas, or even return for a significant amount of time. He didn't even argue the point. He just up and changed his mind. Just like that!
“That man never does that. As long as I have known him, he has been nearly obsessive about protecting the gorillas, which is understandable as they are his family, but still. For him to so suddenly change his mind is so out of character, I don't know what to make of it! And he was the one insisting on going to America, not England.
“And then as he was running off just now, he was trying to egg me on into a race in the vines. When I realized that he was trying to distract me and derail the conversation again, I turned back. I doubt he noticed right away. Honestly, I am used to his tricks by this point.
“Would it kill the man to just have an honest conversation for once?! I mean, we'd been having fights for weeks before you showed up, but still, that is no reason for him to act all jealous of you three the way he is. I honestly think he is trying to get away from you three. I wish I knew what was going through his head these days,” Jane sighed.
Helga put her hand on Jane's and smiled gently at her. “My girlfriends would be all sympathetic and likely have all the right answers on why you should be trying to work it out with him, and maybe change the tone or track you are using, but not me. I am a mercenary, and have been for a number of years. I had to deal with men who thought they were right and were barking orders at me, and I'll tell you exactly what I did. I said 'fuck them' and got on with the job.
“That attitude landed me in trouble from time to time, but it also landed me a job with Rourke, my former boss. Yeah, he was a man, and yeah he barked orders, but he also listened to me, made me feel wanted. At least until Iceland. That was when things started going sideways. Of course, we later found out he was a greed demon after we turned on him in the Atlantis mission, but that was later.
“What I am trying to say here, is that you need to stop trying to play by his rules and start playing by your own. And you have to realize that that might cause the two of you to break up, but it is better that than trying to stay with a loveless relationship. If he is going to demand that it be all his way, then you need to demand that he meet you half way or you'll leave him. At that point, the onus is on him, not you. You are the one trying to be open to ideas, and if he isn't, then that is his problem. Don't let it be yours,” Helga advised.
Jane frowned and then looked at Helga. “What about you? I saw Elsa bark orders at you. Or is it that she is a woman that you tolerated it?”
Helga smiled sadly. “Yeah, that barked order had me flinching from her in that moment. However, within context, she was right. But the thing that pulls me back to her is that she came back up, and not only apologized, but showed she meant it. It wasn't just hollow words. Elsa is used to being in command and calling shots, anyone with a history book could know that. She's run two wars now. You'd have to be out of your mind to think that she wouldn't have developed a command first attitude.
“But it isn't malicious or from a 'I know more than you' attitude. It is because she genuinely cares. In the few times she's ever barked orders since I joined with her, she's always done it because she is trying to protect someone. And in this case, she was trying to protect all of Arendelle. That said, I wouldn't be sticking by her side if she didn't make me feel valued. I am not just a girlfriend for them, and I am not just an employee, but rather a true partner. My voice carries as much weight as Moana's or anyone else's,” Helga offered as sympathetically as she could.
“I see,” Jane said softly. “I think I really do. Still, I need to think on it. Thank you, Helga.”
Helga nodded and then Jane got up and walked out of the clearing. Helga checked the morning stew and found it was just about over cooked. She took it off the fire and smiled as she heard a loud yawn from in the tent. It was followed a moment later by a loud squeak that sounded like Moana had done something treacherously wicked to Elsa to wake her. It was several minutes before they both emerged dressed and found Helga staring into the fire.
“Helga, what is it?” Elsa asked softly.
“Nothing, Elsa. Just thinking about the mission. Tarzan and Jane are off elsewhere right now. They had a fight this morning,” Helga offered.
“I see. I hope they can work it out! It'd be sad for their relationship to end in tears,” Moana sighed.
“Something tells me there is trouble in the air today, and not only for their relationship, Moana. I have a sinking feeling about the spy,” Helga offered cryptically.
“Care to share Helga?” Elsa asked.
“Not yet, Elsa. I want to be certain I am not jumping at shadows. I need some proof for my suspicions,” Helga returned.
“Alright, Helga. We trust you. Just warn us before the trouble takes a bit out of us, okay?” Moana joked.
“Sure thing, Mo,” Helga quipped with a smirk.
“Hey! A nickname! About time!” Moana crowed and Elsa and Helga chuckled.
Helga sobered up fast though, as her mind replayed the entire fight and conversation. She desperately hoped she was wrong. For Jane's sake.
Elsa, Helga, and Moana searched along the river, moving slowly and carefully. They inspected every possible rock, bush, and tree. Their progress was slow and methodical. Still it took two days to cover the distance between where the chase had begun and the ravine where the hell hound corpse lay decomposing. Still, their efforts were for naught as they found nothing of any of the stolen documents. The night between both days they had returned to the camp to find Jane already asleep. The second there was no one in the camp when they got back.
Elsa sat her pack and weapon down and plonked herself down onto a log. She growled in frustration. Moana sat on one of the stumps and stirred the fire back to life. Helga sat off to the side and kept looking around. Finally Elsa turned to Helga.
“Helga, what is wrong?” Elsa asked quietly.
“It might be nothing, but we haven't seen Tarzan in a couple days, and now Jane is MIA. I'll be honest, this whole jungle has me on edge,” Helga replied honestly.
Just then Jane dropped from a vine into the middle of the camp. Her face was furrowed in obvious anger. Then she noted the three women staring at her and tried her best to smile at them. She failed.
“Jane, what is wrong?” Helga asked.
“Tarzan is hunting a leopard. He wanted me to help, but then he just disappeared about an hour ago and the jungle went silent. I have never run for camp faster in my life. I will not be his fucking bait for some leopard!” Jane raged.
“Speaking of silence, do any of you hear anything other than the fire and wind?” Helga asked as she stood up and picked up her rifle and affixed the bayonet.
They all strained their ears, but none of them heard even a bug chirp. Moana and Elsa stood up and picked up their weapons. Only, this time, rather than their rifles, Elsa drew her obsidian edged sword, and Moana put her shark tooth spear into a defensive position. They all watched the darkness as the shadows danced from the firelight. None of them felt safe in the camp at that moment, and Jane was almost instinctively put at the center of a triangle of warrior women. Their vigilance paid off as Helga was the first to catch the glint of firelight off the large cat's eyes.
Her first shots went wide as the cat bounded around, trying to find a weak point in the formation. And then the great cat, all black and gray fur, muscle, and teeth and claws, leaped at Jane, only to collide with an energy shield as Helga blocked the vicious swipe of it's claws. Then Elsa swiped at it's left flank with her sword, only to miss as the cat nimbly dodged the razor edged weapon. Moana worked to put her spear into a defense as the girls realized that the true target of the cat was Jane.
The cat circled the group, and each of them was careful to keep their weapons trained on it. The fire lit it up and showed the leopard pattern in the ash gray fur, the black spines protruding from it's back, and the forward thrusting horns that lined up with the cat's jaws. The white teeth and black claws were almost an after thought as each of the women tried to figure out just what kind of demon this cat was.
Then the cat launched into another attack, and Helga blocked with another shield as Moana let loose a gout of flames. The fires caught the cat square in the face and it reeled back from them almost as much as the shield. Then it started bounding from rock to log to tree and came at Elsa first. Elsa slashed at it with her sword even as she threw a burst of ice at it. Both missed, but she got clawed on her shoulder by the cat's wickedly sharp claws. Elsa screamed and reeled back, her free hand going to the deep gouges in her shoulder. The cat snarled at her, but then launched at Moana, only this time, Helga was there with not only a shield, but a bolt of energy.
The cat nimbly dodged the energy bolt and used Helga's shield as a stepping stone to propel itself at Moana. Moana narrowly missed it with her spear but the cat was quick on the rebound and it's claws sunk deep into Moana's back as it slashed her. Then it turned to Helga even as Moana lay on the ground.
Helga could see the evil intelligence behind the cat's eyes. She knew what was going on. It was taking each of them out of the fight before it went after Jane. Then it would finish them off. Or at least that was the cat's plan. Helga was going to be damned by whatever gods would care before she let that happen. So she quickly came up with a plan.
The cat leaped at them again, and up Helga brought her shield and like before the cat seemed to have anticipated that, only as it tried to land on the shield and use it to launch itself at Jane, Helga dropped the shield and the cat landed on her. The cat was momentarily stunned, but recovered quickly and began to bite at Helga with it's teeth. Only Helga held it in a grapple with one arm as she moved to keep from being bitten. She could feel the cold of death that came from the cat's maw.
Even as the cat and Helga grappled, Elsa switched hands on her sword and came at the cat from the flank, and successfully drove it off Helga, but it still managed to claw Helga across her chest as it leaped from her to the tree. Moana, Helga, and Elsa all stood up and put themselves between the great demon cat and Jane then, all of them weak and injured. The cat bounded at Elsa, but in the last moment turned and clawed at Moana, circled around and raked Elsa across the back. It had just turned to come at Helga again when seven shots rang out in quick succession.
Helga turned and saw Jane with her pistol in her hands. The steady click click click showed that Jane had yet to release the trigger, but how and when the brown haired woman had gotten her hands on Helga's sidearm was the furthest thought from Helga's mind just then. Everyone stared at the great cat as it lay on the ground, dead of at least one bullet penetrating it's skull, though there was a trio in the torso about where the heart should have been.
All four women then whipped around, as a growl came from behind them. They all stared in horror as Tarzan stood there, naked and his fingers curled like claws. His eyes were slit pupil and reflected the firelight. Helga picked up her rifle and used it as a crutch, her strength leaving her as Tarzan stepped into the firelight at last.
“You killed my mate!” Tarzan growled.
“The hell are you on about Tarzan? I thought I was your mate!” Jane protested, even as she pointed the now empty pistol at him.
“Your Tarzan is dead! He was dead the moment I bit him back when we fought. I am Sabor the mngwa! I have devoured his strong soul and now claim his flesh as my own! And you were never my mate!” Tarzan roared as he charged at the four women, none of whom were able to defend.
Only he never reached them as a black woman in a green robe with white tattoos flashed into existence and threw him back almost ten feet. Tarzan's eyes went wide as he landed on his feet. The woman seemed to charge an attack, and rather than launch an attack of his own, Tarzan, or Sabor as he had revealed, fled into the jungles. The black woman turned and faced the four women.
“Well, that sucks. I actually liked that boy. But even I didn't see the bite of Sabor on him when he emerged from the tangle of trees with the leopard's body. That is unfortunate. I might have interviened had I seen it. Now it is too late,” the woman said in a deep but melodic voice.
“Who are you, my goddess?” Moana asked as she fell to her knees.
“I am one of thousands of gods of Africa. I am Kalisia, goddess of the jungles and the hunt,” Kalisia answered gently as she placed a hand on Moana's head.
Elsa and Helga both went to their knees then, as their wounds took their toll. Kalisia looked at Jane hard and then smiled sadly. “You, Jane, my dear child, have the heart of the jungle within you, but you are not bound here. I weep for you as I see the breaking of your heart. You only had a short time to know your husband before Sabor killed his soul and replaced him. I can guess at the moment when Sabor took full control, but I will not tell you, for you are already hurting enough.”
Jane finally fell to her knees, the pistol falling from her grasp as her tears flowed and her cry echoed through the jungle. The goddess came over and knelt beside her, and did her best to console the mourning woman. Elsa pushed herself to her knees and looked on helplessly, same as Helga and Moana. Finally, Jane stopped sobbing and crying and it was like anger had replaced the grief.
“You said the demon replaced my husband? For how long have you known?” Jane demanded.
“As you, I only just now learned of this. Gods by our own laws are not to interfere in the affairs of mortals, but in this case I felt the need was justified. Sabor is a mngwa, or leopard demon, as was his mate. Had it bitten you, it would have possessed you and taken your place after devouring your soul. As it has done to Tarzan. It is for that reason I chose to interfere this night.
“I saw your three staunch defenders go down, and knew what Sabor intended. He wanted his mate to replace you and then kill the three champions of the gods. Their wounds are grievous. Tell me, child, what would you do? Pursue Tarzan and kill him just as he'd kill you in certainty, as an avenging widow, or would you heal these three and hunt Sabor as a team, and champion the cause of the gods? For these three must pursue him, as he now holds what they seek,” Kalisia looked at Elsa who looked at Helga.
“I knew it. Fuck, I wish we'd had more warning, but I figured it had to be Tarzan!” Helga cursed. “I just didn't want to believe it.”
“Helga, you should have told us sooner, but I don't blame you for this. Just remember to not play it so close to the vest next time, please,” Elsa pleaded.
“Alright Elsa,” Helga responded, and everyone turned back to Jane who was taking steadying breaths with her eyes closed.
Finally, Jane opened her eyes and looked at Elsa, Moana, and Helga. “Help me, please. Help me kill that beast that has killed and impersonated my husband. I can't make this right on my own.”
Kalisia nodded and then placed her hand on Jane's shoulder. “A wise choice, child. Where one would most likely fail, four can prevail. Tonight, you ascend as they have, to be more than merely mortal. You are now Jane, Demigoddess of Healing and Mercy.”
“What?” Jane asked in astonishment as she suddenly glowed with green light and a steel tipped spear not unlike those wielded by certain African tribes materialized in her hand. However, Kalisia wasn't done.
“Now, I have been watching since these three entered my forest. I heard your desires Helga, and have already gotten a solution for you. The crystal from which you draw your powers is well hidden from all the gods, by Tangaroa, as you know him, and so I could not give you anything created by it's power. However, I think you will find this gift more than adequate in compensation,” and Kalisia held out a rifle with what looked like tribal designs all down the barrel and stock. It was the same make and model that the Arendelle Army had issued all three of them for the mission.
“This weapon, like Jane's, is a transforming weapon. Though, where Jane's channels her divine power and transforms into any tool or melee weapon she needs, yours will transform into any firearm you need. Everything from the most fearsome machine gun to a humble single shot pistol. More than that though, it will never require reloading or re-ammunition. It instead fires bullets of your own magic at your enemies.
“It will let you fell even the most difficult to slay enemies. This is because the bullets act as though mortal rounds, but have the punch of a magic weapon, like Moana's spear, or Elsa's sword. Even an enemy made of mud or lava would be grievously wounded by this weapon, as long as you can hit the target. No shape they take will provide them shelter now, as no matter where you hit their human form, it will reveal them as they are in truth, and wound them in the corresponding location on their true body,” Kalisia explained.
“Thank you, goddess Kalisia,” Helga got out between labored breaths.
“Dear Jane, I think you should hurry to heal your new allies. Sabor is already putting significant distance between himself and this place. He means to board a ship and flee to America. And a second freighter, not detained by your ship Elsa, approaches the port. It does not go to Miami, but rather to New York. Hurry, as evil moves quickly to destroy you,” Kalisia said as she disappeared in a flash of light.
Jane hurried and placed her hands on Elsa's arm, which instantly started healing as a golden green light emanated from Jane's hands. Elsa looked at the healing wound and smirked. “Had a cousin back in the day, Punzie, that could heal wounds. She wasn't nearly this fast though.”
“Yeah, well, no offense, but that means nothing to me right now. Let me focus on what I need to do, so that we can give chase as quickly as we can. Unlike me, none of you can swing from vines, so we have to go over the ground. Which is going to slow us still further,” Jane growled.
“Sorry, I was trying to help,” Elsa expressed sympathetically.
“I know. I'll grieve later. For now, killing that bastard is everything,” Jane hissed, though there were tears in her eyes.
Jane finished healing Elsa and then moved to Moana. Each time she healed, the wounds sealed without even a scar to show they'd ever been there. And even the magical tattoos on each woman seemed to mend in the process. Finally, she reached Helga and healed her. Helga smiled up at Jane, and Jane nodded in understanding. The two of them were more inclined to violence, and each recognized the predator in the other.
Once they were all healed, they picked up their fallen weapons and charged after Tarzan. They just hoped they'd arrive in time to stop him from boarding the ship. They plowed through the trees and underbrush, Jane leading the way with her new spear turned into a machete to hack away the worst impediments. Then they reached a clearing and found another encampment among the bamboo forest. Jane looked around until she saw the fallen form of her father next to his work station. Obvious deep slashes all across his body.
Jane felt the rage boil in herself, but then she stopped. Everyone went on guard then as the jungle was once again eerily silent. They all split apart and rolled away just in time as Sabor, in Tarzan's body, landed in the middle of them. He growled menacingly as he found himself rather than preying on them instead surrounded by them.
“You think you can kill me? Can you kill your husband?” Sabor taunted Jane, who snapped her machete back into the spear form.
“You are not my husband!” Jane snarled back.
“Then perhaps I should stop with this false face!” Sabor roared.
Tarzan's body seemed to twist and then split apart as a greater form emerged from the flesh like a bug shedding it's exoskeleton. From within the shell of Tarzan emerged a black and gray furred monstrosity. Like the mngwa they'd fought before, this one had black spines and horns that lined up with it's jaw. But unlike previously, this one was bipedal, had long arms that ended in hands with claws at least two inches long. It's eyes were red coals of evil hatred and it's maw dripped blood. Finally, it finished and kicked the gore that was once a human man to the side.
“I'll revenge my mate and eat each of your souls!” Sabor growled.
“Not this time or ever again,” Jane snarled.
“You pathetic creatures will be my food, one way or another! And when I am done with you, my master will reward me a thousand fold for destroying you!” Sabor roared.
“Yeah, and who is this master of yours, as long as you are going to kill us and all?” Helga taunted.
“The dead don't need to know that!” Sabor roared as he charged at Jane.
Jane dodged to the left and swiped at Sabors legs, missing by a hair. Sabor turned and pursued only to collide with one of Helga's energy shields. Sabor dodged to the side himself as Elsa took her swing at him, and then ducked under Moana's swipe with her spear. When he came back up, the crack of a gunshot echoed in the forest, and he barely avoided the head shot from Helga's new weapon. Then he went back on the attack, feigning going after Moana, when instead he swiped at Helga. Helga narrowly dodged the wicked claws and rolled to the side, coming back up on her knee.
Elsa tried to transform into a bird and then come back down with an overhead chop of her sword, only to miss as the swift Sabor dodged, and then kicked her hard in the ribs. Elsa skidded across the ground and came back to her knee even as Helga took another shot from her rifle. Again Sabor dodged the shot and aimed at Jane, only to dodge at the last moment and swiped at Moana, and this time his claws rended Moana's exposed leg, hampering her severely. Sabor roared in triumph only for a moment and then noted that Jane was already healing the vicious wound.
Sabor roared and charged the pair, only to have a wall of ice spikes appear in front of him. He narrowly avoided impaling himself by rolling to his right and coming up in Helga's face. Helga narrowly avoided the bite from Sabor by rolling to her side herself. Helga rolled back up and her rifle had changed into a heavy pistol. She fired several rounds at the dodging leopard demon and growled in frustration at having missed every shot.
Sabor dodged to his left as Moana took a swipe at him with her spear, but didn't stop there. Instead he completed his turn and slashed Moana hard across her exposed back. He then bounded away as Elsa came in to defend her wife with her sword. Sabor's leap took him within inches of Jane, who he snarled at and practically gutted with his claws. Jane fell to her knees and struggled to heal the vicious wound.
Sabor then bounded off the bamboo and came at Elsa, who was ready to swipe at him with her sword, only to roll to the side and come up under Helga's rifle and slashed the blonde across her face, blinding her in one eye. Helga rolled to the side herself, as Sabor tried to follow that up with a vicious bite. However, he felt a solid hit in his jaw as Elsa slugged him hard in the jaw with her fist. Sabor reeled back and snarled.
With all of her comrades down, Elsa stood alone against the beast. The bastard was so fast that it was almost impossible to hit him. Elsa spared a glance to Jane who was too busy trying to heal the gut wound she'd taken. She noted Moana trying to push herself up to her knees, and Helga was cradling her face, her right eye a ruined mess. Elsa snarled at Sabor in return.
Sabor came at Elsa hard then, all claws and fury, but Elsa was all parries and blocks. Nothing Sabor could do could get through Elsa's defense. It was as if Elsa's rage was making her faster, though it was a cold rage, colder than even an arctic glacier. Finally, Elsa was able to get Sabor to make a mistake and she started pressing the large demon cat back. Then Sabor snarled viciously and a wave of black energy shot out from him and it threw Elsa back several paces, while knocking the others back to the ground.
Sabor snarled at Elsa, “I have devoured the soul of a mighty champion and so I am greater than any demon you have ever faced! You can't beat me!”
Sabor charged at Elsa, only for Elsa to stand her ground and just at the last moment, Elsa let go with a burst of ice magic right at Sabor, hitting him squarely in the chest. In that same moment, she rolled to the side and kicked back to her feet just in time to swipe her vicious sword at the leopard demon's side. Sabor, the mighties of the mngwa, howled in rage at the stinging cut on his flank, though it was only a flesh wound.
Sabor turned, and a chill smoke emanated from his maw, and then he suddenly stopped. He looked down at his hands for a moment before he looked back up at Elsa. “What did you do to me?!” Sabor demanded.
“You've got maybe a few minutes left to live, Sabor. You are beaten. I hope you enjoy being an ice sculpture,” Elsa snarled viciously.
“No! I was promised that if I devoured a mortal champion's soul, I would be unbeatable for you! I am stronger and faster than any mngwa ever has been! How could you have done this?!” Sabor demanded.
“A lesson I learned long ago about the dangers of my magic, long before I ever became a demigoddess,” Elsa snarled, not letting her defense down for a moment.
Jane stood up and glared at Sabor, her hate etched firmly in her face, even as there were still a few bleeding scratches on her belly. Moana was the next to stand and she was followed quickly by Helga. Sabor looked at each of them as his fur rapidly began to turn snow white. He roared in rage and then charged Elsa, who simply put a wall of ice spikes between herself and him. This time however, he wasn't able to stop himself in time to keep from impaling himself on one of the spikes. The sharp icicle ran him through his gut and he stopped there, fully impaled on the spike, and tried in vain to swipe at Elsa.
Then a simple crack of a gunshot echoed in the forest and everyone turned to see Jane with Helga's rifle in her hands. Sabor went limp then, as a fist sized hole appeared in the side of his head. Jane handed the weapon back to Helga and then turned to healing the injured women. Elsa walked up to her and put her hand on the woman's shoulder as Jane began to let the tears flow.
“You know, I'd frozen his heart. He was already a dead one. You didn't need to shoot him,” Elsa cooed softly.
“Yes, she did, Elsa. She needed that shot. She needed to know it was her hands that avenged her husband,” Helga replied softly as she felt the wounds on her face rapidly close under Jane's healing magic.
Jane continued to cry as she finished healing Helga, returning sight to her eye at last, and then went to Moana. Elsa stood aside and watched Jane heal her wife. Elsa knew that Jane needed some time and space after this fight. Elsa walked up to Helga and smiled at the blonde. Both of them were the same height and blonde haired and blue eyed. Helga had a beauty mark that Elsa didn't though. Elsa looked at Helga and frowned.
“What do we do now?” Elsa asked.
“About Jane, or about that satchel strapped across the demon's back?” Helga asked as Elsa shot a look back at the demon, who did in fact have a messenger bag strapped across his back. “It appeared after he died. I thought you'd have noticed.”
“No, I didn't. And I was referring to Jane in my question, Helga. You seem to understand her better than we do,” Elsa offered.
“Maybe I do, a bit. I can't really explain it properly. I just happen to know that what she needs now isn't sympathy, but closure. And judging from the mess the demon left, she isn't going to get that. Yeah, she has killed the thing that murdered her husband, but she never even knew it was happening, so she never got to tell him anything she wanted to. That kind of wound takes time to heal,” Helga offered simply.
“I think I can help with that, actually,” a voice said from behind the pair.
They turned and there they saw Kalisia enter the clearing walking alongside two ghostly men. One was short and elderly, but had an energy about him that spoke of a younger man. The other was obviously the spirit of Tarzan himself. Kalisia smiled softly as she came up to Elsa and Helga. Both Elsa and Helga were utterly confused as to how Kalisia managed to snag both souls, particularly as Sabor had devoured Tarzan's.
“I'll explain in a minute. First I need to reconstitute Tarzan's body for a proper burial while he and Mr. Porter say their farewells to Jane. Sadly, I can't bring either back to life because the rules forbid it. Bringing the dead back to life, even shortly after death, is barred by the will of every god, and frankly I agree with it. Death is natural, even violent and sudden death,” Kalisia offered as Jane looked up to see the two men she had just lost approach in ghostly form.
Kalisia meanwhile went over to the mangled ruin that was a human body and gently touched it, causing it to glow brightly and reform in an instant into Tarzan's body. Elsa stormed over, despite Helga and Moana trying to restrain her. Both of them were familiar with the determined look on her face, and Moana could practically read the thoughts going through Elsa's head.
As Jane conversed with the souls of her father and Tarzan, Elsa glared at Kalisia who arched an eyebrow. “Clearly you disagree with something, Elsa. What is on your mind?” Kalisia asked.
“Elsa, no! Don't you argue with a goddess!” Moana begged.
“Elsa, she could squish you with a thought!” Helga warned.
Elsa flatly didn't care. She glared at the goddess of the jungle and hunt and her words were chipped from the glacier of her own power. “Bring him back!” Elsa demanded.
“I already told you, Elsa, I can't. It is forbidden for any god to do that again, since Jehova abused the power,” Kalisia offered sympathetically.
“Bull shite! We are running around the world, fighting monsters and demons for you, all of you! We have never asked you for anything before! We have been happy to serve the gods, and have done so faithfully. Now we are asking for one simple thing! Just one! Bring Tarzan back to Jane, in more than just a spirit saying their farewells! You said it yourself, you'd have intervened if you had known! How is this anything more than the logical conclusion of that?!” Elsa demanded in such a cold manner Moana and Helga had to back away from her as an aura of pure ice and cold formed around her.
Kalisia looked around and then sighed. She looked at Elsa hard then. “What you want is going to land me in hot water. And I won't do it without higher approval. I'll carry your message to said higher authority, so you all wait here. They won't move on just yet, so just hold your damned horses.”
Kalisia disappeared in a flash of light and Elsa screamed incoherently after her. Moana gently eased forward and hugged her wife for all it was worth. Helga joined them herself, and they all felt the zone of frost and cold diminish and disappear as Elsa calmed down. Then they pulled back and gave Elsa a hard look even as the two ghosts and Jane approached.
“What in Lalotai are you thinking, Elsa?! Making demands of a goddess! That is rather a Maui thing to do!” Moana chastised her wife.
“I agree with Moana. Obviously I was raised Christian, but even I know when someone is out of our weight class! And hanging out with you two, and now meeting actual gods is making me question my faith, so this is important to me that you don't get yourself needlessly killed,” Helga sympathized.
Tarzan's ghost walked up to Elsa. “You shouldn't have. All things die, and that is the law of the jungle. I don't want anyone getting into trouble because of me. Let me pass on after I say what I need to to Jane.”
Then the small man's ghost crossed his arms across his chest. “My boy, you are taking the easy out! It is one thing to die for others, and any fool can do that. However, it takes great courage and strength of spirit to live for someone. I say that if this woman can get you restored, then by Jove, you'd best damned well take it! I'll not have my daughter left in an immortal life full of regrets!”
“Daddy! Tarzan! Please don't fight. Not now. Tarzan, I want you back. The real you. Not that thing I fought with time and again. I don't know when I lost you, but I want to try again. Please come back to me if you can!” Jane pleaded.
Elsa was about to respond to them when a bright flash of light happened and they all found themselves seated at a bench looking out on what looked like the earth silhouetted against a field of stars. As they looked around they saw the moon to their backs, and the sun just to the side of it. Then they noticed the rows of seats and benches set up in an open ended horseshoe and what looked like extra space on their bench. In between the two rows of seats and benches sat a pair of chairs.
Elsa swallowed hard. The surreal starscape and courtroom like appearance worried her, and she saw the same worry on Moana, Helga, and Jane's faces. Then she noted that Jane's father's ghost was seated next to Jane. Another flash of light and Tarzan stood in the middle of the court room, chained to a railing by golden manacles. Elsa motioned for everyone to remain calm and simply wait.
They didn't have to wait long as flashes of light began appearing all around the horseshoe and beings in various types of garb and complexion appeared. In the seats in the center sat what looked like an old man wearing a simple robe with an hour glass and scythe next to his seat. Next to him sat a woman in what almost looked like living plant life and her eyes were glowing with blue light. More flashes to their sides, and Moana noted that Te Fiti, Kalisia, Freya, and a man with blue skin and wave like tattoos all over his naked body, had joined them at the bench.
The man turned to the group and winced. “Just so you know, this is all like this because it's true form would be beyond your comprehension as former mortals. And I am Tangaroa as you know me. We are your advocates in this as we are your staunchest allies. Freya represents Odin as he must sit in judgment, or else he would sit here. Listen well, as I will explain.
“Elsa, your demands were heard, and to put it mildly, you kicked a proper hornet's nest over. So it was decided that we would hold a conclave of the gods to hear your arguments. All the chief gods are here, even those who are no longer worshiped. The two in the center are Life and Death, the two supreme gods that all worship but don't realize they do.
“Elsa, as it was your voice that demanded this, you are to make the chief argument. The rest of us will make supporting arguments after that as the debate proceeds. And don't be surprised if the debate gets heated or you are interrupted often. Honestly, this was coming eventually, and we all knew it. You just kicked it back in front of us again, and frankly, I am proud of you for doing this. I am supporting you and all of you in this, hence why I am on this bench. Of course, the others feel the same way, so you have some serious weight of power on your side.
“Also, the hard part is going to be convincing a majority to resurrect Tarzan. Many here have already made up their minds and you won't change them, no matter your argument. However, it is the final vote that we need to focus on. So, try and keep your temper cooled down. We need to win the argument, not antagonize those on the fence,” Tangaroa explained seriously.
“Fine. Then let's get this started,” Elsa huffed.
The old man identified as Death raised his scythe and rapped it on the marble floor. “Again we find this question plaguing the heavens. I thought this matter resolved after Jehova abused his authority to create John the Prophet and created his global religion! Has there not been enough damage from this that we must revisit this? Bad enough that we have now gotten five demigods loose upon the Earth in this time! Where must we draw the line Tangaroa?!”
“Lord Death, as it was her voice that called this question before us, it falls to Elsa, Demigoddess of Ice and Sight, to answer this,” Tangaroa replied.
“No! Her voice was the trigger, but she does not speak in this place! She is only a demigoddess, not a god! Her judgment is what I question!” Death returned.
“I'll hear her out. As such, I would hear her speak. But be warned, as a demigoddess, you do not carry a vote! Do not presume to demand anything in this place,” Life spoke, putting a hand on Death's arm to calm him.
Elsa rose and she noted that she was back in her Arendelle Royal Regalia from when she was first crowned queen. She looked at the others and they were all wearing different things. Moana was in a grass skirt with no top, Jane in a stylish Victorian dress, and Helga wore what looked like Norse Viking armor fitted for a shieldmaiden. Elsa inhaled and then turned back to the assembled gods.
“Alright, if you'll hear me out, fine. Then let me start by pointing out that each and every one of you are cowards. Morally reprehensible and irresponsible cowards. For what must be thousands of years now, demons have roamed the world, and preyed upon man kind. Yes, there have been demigods to battle them throughout history, but then that stopped after the rise of Christianity. However, the demons and monsters didn't stop. They continued to prey upon man.
“And man was left to fend for themselves. How we have survived this long is only thanks to our ingenuity and creations that have allowed us to battle them on an even footing, though it still came at great cost! And now the demons and monsters have adapted. They have changed in such a way that they are now becoming both resistant to, as well as proficient with, man's weapons. They now hide in human form, and they prey on man in new ways.
“Aside from provoking what has the potential to be the worst war in history, the demons have now found that by devouring the souls of powerful mortals, champions as Tarzan was referred to by Sabor, they can gain greater power. We have already seen what happens when a mortal and a demon work together, and now what happens when a soul is actually devoured by a demon. They become impossible for any mere mortal to face, even with modern advances. No mere mortal could have stopped Sabor.
“And now you all dare to sit here in judgment on us, and Tarzan, because I wanted one damned favor?! Well, let me tell you all something. Other than a few gods, like Tangaroa or Kalisia, none of you have taken even the slightest steps to combating a growing problem on Earth. You said 'five' demigods now exist. Five?! To police the whole of the Earth when the demons outnumber us thousands to one?! Can any of you smell the shit you are shoveling?
“Worse still, until just last year, it was three! Three of us expected to keep the monsters and demons at bay! Then Helga joined us, followed by Jane just today! And we haven't heard from Maui in decades! That leaves us with four demigods to face off against the demon hordes! And if there are more like Sabor among them, then facing down just two like him would be a fatal mistake for us! He almost killed all of us!
“Face it! You have abandoned us! Left us to die! No, I know man was never meant to exist forever, but you still had a responsibility to protect us! If it weren't for the actions of the gods sitting on this bench, and the Atlantian crystal, you wouldn't even have us to defend man with! And you expect us to just accept your judgments and laws!
“Which brings me to Tarzan! Jane became a demigoddess because you all fucked up and fucked off to who knows what! She became the avenger of her husband because of a monster you couldn't be bothered to defend humanity against! Your cowardice is what killed Tarzan, and you expect us, in particular Jane, his wife, to just accept this! To accept that you killed Tarzan through sheer refusal to do anything about it! Tarzan's blood is on your hands, every bit as much as Sabor's! And before any of you point fingers at Kalisia, she said that if she had known, she would have intervened! And I trust her word on that! Which makes her more active in this than any of you sons of bitches!
“I asked for one favor. Just one little favor. We are in a jungle, surrounded by nothing other than plants and animals. To date, no one outside our group knew Tarzan had died! And none of us had any intention of trying to use him to do whatever it was that Jehova did! We just wanted him back so that his wife could try her hand at having love in her life again! We wanted him back to ease our new friend's heart! And you are saying you'd deny this if I didn't make a demand for it!
“So fuck you and your 'holier than thou' attitude. You tell me not to make a demand when it was a demand that got us to this point? Well, fuck that! I am telling all of you right now, I don't care how powerful any of you are! You are cowards and so beneath those of us who are actually doing something about the situation! And frankly, we'll stop doing anything about it, and you can watch the world tear itself apart as the demons run rampant.
“And that is another thing, each of them we have faced since this began back in '14 has stated that they serve a master! We don't know who that is, but I think it is a god! Maybe one of you bastards sitting in here even! So, if we stop fighting, and just find a nice quiet corner of the world and live our lives in peace and never come back out, that means who ever this master is is going to have a clean shot at whatever his goal is, and I doubt it is a goal you want them to succeed at! And if you refuse our one and only demand, then that is exactly what is going to happen!” Elsa finally finished ranting and sat back down as regally as a monarch could have ever wanted.
The silence was so profound you could hear Elsa's heavy breathing from any point in the room. Finally, Odin stood up from the stands, followed by Frigga and they both walked down and stood behind the bench. There was a mummer from the stands as one of the “judges” did it. Then Life sighed heavily.
“Your passion does not shield you Elsa. If you make that demand again, I will strip you of all your powers and send you right back to Arendelle to watch the war play out from your throne,” Life threatened.
“Then I will give her her powers right back, or barring that, new powers with which to work and even if you did it again, I would continue to elevate her until the end of time!” Te Fiti countered.
“Your attachment to this mortal does not do you credit, Te Fiti!” Death threatened.
“You try to bind her from doing that, then I'll do it. I'll keep all of them on their levels of power as they are now! And you would have to kill me, Odin Allfather to stop me!” Odin challenged.
“Enough! This line of bickering is irrelevant! The issue at hand is whether to allow the resurrection of Tarzan! Not whether or not to punish Elsa for being bold enough to challenge us! And frankly, Elsa has given us the perfect excuse to do it! There is no one present whom can witness Tarzan rise from the dead! A repeat of John the Prophet is impossible at this point! I say give them this, as they have been as faithful to our cause as any we could ask for!” Hera said as she stood.
Then the arguments broke out in force. Odin put his hand on Elsa's shoulder as Frigga leaned down to whisper into Helga's ear. Helga's eyes went wide and she nodded. Frigga then patted her on the shoulder and the small group all watched as the room devolved into chaos. Finally, Death stood up and rapped his scythe on the floor again loudly enough to stall out the argument. The arguing gods all sat back down and Death stared hard at the bench of gods and demigods.
“Enough! Your petition is refused! And Odin, do not think I would not claim you if you tried to thwart me! And as far as I am concerned, there will be no more demigods added to the world! I will not have immortals running around everywhere! Even if it costs us all of creation! Demons are as much a creation of man by their own wickedness as our fault! We have done our part, not man must do his!” Death roared.
Then as Death sat back down, Life stood up and looked over everyone, and then back to Death. “Lover, you are wrong, and I have played your staunch ally long enough! I cannot take this farce any longer! In principal, I agree with Elsa. We have been cowards. We stood back when we thought we over stepped, but we did more than that. We left man to a fate he did not deserve! No more. It is time for the gods to be seen in the world, and acting within it, again.
“More than that, as the argument here just proved, this matter is far from settled. You have threatened us enough. Either kill those of us who disagree with you and be done with it, or admit you have no teeth in that threat!” Life challenged Death directly.
Death actually looked away, and Elsa's heart leaped. Then Life looked around the chamber and then back at the bench with Elsa and the rest. “Tarzan shall be resurrected, but on one condition. That you never make another such demand of the gods. I respect that you are trying to defend life on Earth, but there are limits to our patience with even our champions, Elsa.
“But before we send all of you back, we will give Jane time to speak with her father one last time before he passes on. That much even I have the compassion for. Then the real task must begin. Discovering who the villain is, and what their goal is is the priority.
“And as you have so bluntly pointed out, Elsa, there are only four of you. Even we do not know what fate became of Maui. Because of this, we will begin looking into elevating other worthy mortals. However, do not expect them suddenly to appear. However, one already stands here, and I will see to his elevation personally. Tarzan, you are now the Demigod of Apes and the Jungle. I have no weapon to give you as you need none. I'll let you figure out your powers, and how they work, but I will say that you will be most pleased with them.
“And with that, the demigods are dismissed back to the Earth. You will find no time has passed, but Tarzan will awaken the moment you all return. We have to deal with this thorny issue before we can turn our collective attention back to the Earth as we should have done long ago. Be gone!” and as Life spoke, a bright flash of light blinded them all and they found themselves back in the bamboo grove clearing.
Jane's father stood there in ghost form, even as they all rose from where they had fallen. Tarzan was slower to rise as his body was only freshly healed. Tarzan audibly groaned and sat up, looked at his hands and winced. Jane stepped over to where her father's ghost stood and knelt down to look him in the eye.
“Daddy, why didn't you come back?” the tears in Jane's eyes were obvious for everyone to see.
“My dear, I was old. I had achieved everything I ever wanted. And I was so proud of you! The fact that I was murdered didn't change the fact that my time was done. It was time for me to move on. I'll say hello to your mother for you, and tell her all about you and your husband! I am sure she'll be thrilled to hear you found love. Oh, and the gorillas! We mustn't forget to tell her all about them!
“Good bye, Jane dear. Know that I love you, and that I couldn't be prouder of you,” and Jane's father slowly faded out, becoming nothing more than a wisp of smoke that vanished.
Jane sat down and cried next to her father's body as everyone gathered around her. Tarzan put his hand on her shoulder and she turned and sobbed into his chest. Finally, the tears and sobs relented and Jane stood up. She looked at everyone and then nodded as though making a decision. She picked up her spear from where it had fallen, and transformed it into a shovel. Everyone nodded and began looking around for similar tools. They only found a couple other shovels, but it was enough.
Jane, with the help of the others as they traded off, dug a six foot deep grave and then climbed out. She walked over to her father's body and pulled a canvas tarp off of a table and wrapped his body in it. When she was done, Tarzan helped her lower the body into the hole they'd dug and then the process of filling it in began. Once the hole was filled, Jane looked at everyone and nodded her thanks. Elsa pulled a large board off of a work table and used her ice magic to etch his name and other relevant information into the wood as Jane recited it.
Once the makeshift tomb marker was in place, Jane looked about. She nodded and then turned to face Elsa, Moana, Helga, and Tarzan. There were fresh tears in her eyes as she spoke.
“It is time for me to go. Tarzan, I won't make you come with me, but I can't stay here any longer. There are just too many hard memories. Too much pain,” Jane got out between sobs.
“Tarzan stays with Jane. I don't remember anything after I was devoured, but I can see it was bad. Sabor did things in my body that I don't think made you happy. So I need to set it right. I come with you, wherever you go. We try again?” Tarzan asked gently.
Jane smiled at Tarzan and then looked at the other three. “Well, I don't know where I'll find myself, but it was a decided pleasure to make all of your acquaintances. We'll remember you fondly, if not this whole sordid adventure.”
Then a voice from behind Tarzan and Jane cleared it's throat. “Ahem, no. That is unacceptable, Jane. I did not give you your powers just so you can wander off into oblivion like you seem to think you are going to.”
Everyone turned and saw Kalisia and Life standing there, glaring at Jane and Tarzan. Then Life spoke harshly, “You two have responsibilities to the world. I know you need time to grieve for your father, Jane, but now is not the time. This incident with Sabor is not an isolated incident. We are noticing changes in humans we were watching as champions, and they are not good. Oh, some are still acting as normal and we are getting around to contacting them, but right now, it looks like whatever demons are working against us have a head start!
“You need to go with Elsa, Moana, and Helga. Kalisia can watch after the gorillas for the time being. However, you five are needed on the front lines of the building war. And I am not talking about this mortal war that is going on, but the war between the gods. It would seem that we are not as united on the topic as we'd like, and with Death's bluff having been called, it seems the gods are dividing into several factions.
“The problem is that the gods of destruction and death are pretty firmly of the mind that death should be final. Meanwhile, those gods of life and creation are of the opinion that resurrection should be used, but in a responsible manner. Then there are those stuck in the middle and so it is looking like a fight is going to break out again over it.
“Still none of that is your concern. No, yours is the demons preying upon the mortal world. If you do not take the fight to the demons and monsters, the fate that befell Tarzan will repeat itself around the world a great many times. And whom ever is orchestrating this from behind the scenes will only benefit from it. Hence why we elevated Jane and Tarzan up to help fight the demons,” Life explained.
“Right now Elsa, Tangaroa, Te Fiti, and several of the Asgardians are all at your disposal, but only because they are shut out of the debate for having backed you. I wish the others would let them back in, as Odin, Freya, Te Fiti, and Tangaroa all have wisdom to spare. But this may be to your benefit. It lets them focus on helping you five, and if you find Maui, six, and begin the process of selecting mortal champions for elevation.
“That said, as I promised, I would watch over your family, Tarzan. I'll keep them safe for now. But you all must go together. I trust Elsa and Moana to know where to pick up next, but it may take time. The debate in the heavens has no effect on any of you right now, but this mortal war is a threat to everyone on the Earth. However, as it is a mortal war, it is subject to mortal limitations, and even the demons and monsters are not infinite, so they must abide by those limitations.
“And Moana and Elsa, before you go, Te Fiti wanted me to pass along something as she is inspecting the situation in the South Pacific and can't be here to say it herself. She gave both of you a blessing. She knows how heart sick the two of you have been over not having children of your own, so she offered you both a one time blessing. At a time of your choosing, both of you may spontaneously conceive a child with the other. She extended this to Helga as well, when she realized that she had become part of your lives. She was just waiting to tell you three when the time was right, but recent events made her decide to do it now. She is trusting you three to know when to use it, but she said all you have to do is consciously decide to have children during one of your, um, frequent sexual encounters. Oh, and she said each of you would have twins, so that there was a child by each possible pair so that no one felt left out,” Kalisia smiled at them.
“I am amending that blessing to be somewhat less abrupt, as Te Fiti thinks in terms of sudden gifts all at once. Any one of you can choose to have children by the other up to two children each, but only once per couple. I am trusting you three to not abuse the trust of the others and make it a group decision. And I am also trusting each of you to not try and do the whole “virgin birth of a god” crap that Jehova did. After reviewing each of your histories, I think each of you are more responsible than that, but I just wanted it said and in the open. Just remember that these would be mortal children and would require the same care and devotion as any other. You would be wise to wait until after the war is over and you have stopped whom ever this master of the demons' is. But I won't try and dictate your hearts to you either. Just make sure you three are ready for them and to be proper parents,” Life sighed as she gave them soft smile.
Then another form walked up from behind Life and Kalisia. All of them noted that it was Tangaroa in the same form he'd had at the hearing. In his arms he carried a rather stupid looking chicken, and Moana could have sworn she'd seen it somewhere. The ocean god sighed as he joined the group and looked at Elsa and Moana.
“Damn but it is a bit of a walk from that river to here. And I am a god! I am sure I am coming in on the tail end of this, but as I am your patron, Moana, while Te Fiti is Elsa's, I wanted to come and wish all of you well on your mission. I overheard the bit about the blessing, and I am pleased by it. That said, Te Fiti also told me to give to you this stupid chicken. Honestly, I don't know why she made Hai Hai immortal, but she did. Something about a reminder of pasts so that they aren't forgotten and all that. Honestly, I have never seen anyone more conscious of their pasts than you two. So take this stupid bird before it drives me insane, please,” Tangaroa held out the seemingly oblivious chicken.
Moana took the rather stupid chicken and smiled at Tangaroa. “Thank you.”
With that, the gods disappeared in a flash of light and everyone turned to look at the others. Finally, Elsa smiled and smirked. “Joke is on Kalisia, I plan on sending troops from the Arendelle Army, Navy, and Marines to secure this region. And if the French don't like it, tough! And I am sure the Brits will be only too happy to back us up. The agreement to leave the African colonies alone has been chafing on them and the Germans. Given that I was never part of that agreement, as I had no colonies here, I won't be violating it in invading the region and taking it away from the French.
“And under Arendelle law, rare species, like gorillas, are protected against poaching or abuse. I'll personally see to it that this region gets set up as a national park and Tarzan and your family, Jane, are protected. My only regret is that I don't have the troops at hand to do it right now.”
“Thank you, Elsa. Alright, let's all head out to the trade post and get out of here. My only question is where are we going?” Jane asked as she wiped away tears.
“Arendelle. We need to get back and make a report on this. Then we have to pin down where the next demon is so that we can go after it. I am done waiting for them to pull something like this on us, and that reminds me, Elsa, let's not forget the documents. But the point is, I am only too ready to be proactive in hunting them again!” Moana smiled wickedly.
“Yeah, we still need those. And I agree whole heartedly. We need to be hunting them, instead of the other way around,” Elsa sighed as she walked over to the now completely frozen ice sculpture of Sabor.
The ice was already melting in the jungle heat and Elsa had a bit of difficulty trying to get the satchel off of him until Tarzan just walked over and punched Sabor, causing the ice to simply shatter. Elsa smirked, and looked at Jane who seemed to be staring at Tarzan in wonder then. She took the satchel from the ground and opened it. Inside she found sealed folders that had French writing on them denoting them as classified. Elsa opened the seal on one folder and noted that it contained the stolen documents from the War Department. She sighed in relief and then rejoined her wife and girlfriend.
“Got them. We can officially wrap up this mission now. Let's head back to the trading post now. I know it is dark and all, but I am eager to get back into my normal clothes, or lack there of!” Elsa smirked wickedly at Moana and Helga.
“Elsa, about that, we need to have a serious talk on the way back. That blessing really throws a wrench into the works,” Moana sighed.
“I know, my love, I know. We have over a week to discuss it though, as long as no French naval ships cross our path that is,” Elsa agreed.
They all nodded, each acknowledging the war and it's perils, and then turned for the trading post. Tarzan spared one last look to the world he was leaving behind. However, he somehow knew everything would be alright and that he would see his family again before the war was out.
Aries was so angry, he could have bitten through a steel shield. No one, not even him, had foreseen those damned demigods causing this much mayhem in the heavens. And he was being shut out of the debate as he was only a lesser god, not a major one. The fact that he had been demoted after the Romans conquered Greece had been a mild irritation at the time. Now it was a hindrance as it kept him from being able to prevent any more resurrections or creation of further demigods.
And the fact that Sabor had been killed by four of them didn't sit well with him. Of course, the idiotic cat had been careless about Elsa's ice magic, despite his warning, and had been frozen solid. If nothing else, Aries could at least use him as a solid example of why you didn't let Elsa hit you in the chest with her ice magic. And that worried Aries on another level.
Gods could only be slain by another god, but something in him saw what happened to Sabor and flinched. By his best estimates, Sabor was only a little less powerful than a god when he'd been frozen. And Elsa's ice magic didn't even flinch at his power. It was as if the power of the individual meant nothing to it. And if he was right, she could kill a god with that magic if she got a solid hit. But he needed to confirm that before he found himself facing her.
And so he was now in the lair of a goddess called Hel seeking that answer. She was bent over a bowl of black water as she gazed into the possible scenario he'd proposed. Of course, she wasn't one of his allies, so she had no clue why he'd come to her or why he'd wanted to know that information. And of course, she wasn't asking, which meant Aries was at least happy for one thing.
The reason Aries had come to her, however, is that near as he could tell, Elsa's ice magic tied her to the Jotun, that she might have descended from ice giants. Or worse still, an ice dragon. Either way, such beings were dangers to even the gods. And given that Hel was a Jotun herself, despite being one of the Aesir, he was hoping that she'd have some insight on the dangers of Elsa's ice magic.
Finally, Hel looked up from her scrying bowl and glared at Aries. “Which of my brethren created her? She has dragon's blood in her veins! And Jotun blood! I have never seen ice magic that potent outside of Jotunheim! And even then, it was exceedingly rare!”
“Damn! I don't know who created her, but just how dangerous is that magic of hers?” Aries demanded.
“God slaying powerful, Aries. I think that is the whole reason everyone takes her seriously. No one wants her to find out just how dangerous she really is,” Hel snarled. “Of course, she has to hit with that magic, and hit in the head or chest. Glancing shots won't do. And she is hardly as strong as a god, so she would need support to give her those kind of shots.”
“I wonder if any of the gods that have been giving her other demigods to work with have considered this yet or not?” Aries wasn't above making sneaky suggestions, particularly now that he saw how pissed Hel was getting over the situation.
“If they weren't, they will be now. I don't care if I am on their shit list for eternity for this, but now that it has been pointed out, we don't just have a rogue god to worry about, but also a demigoddess who can slay gods! This will have to be addressed now! And if Te Fiti or Tangaroa try anything, they'll be the ones trying to explain how a mortal with a god slaying power became a demigoddess in the first place! I doubt anyone is going to take kindly to that kind of threat looming over them!” Hel raged.
“Well, I wasn't invited, so that will be up to you. For now, my curiosity is sated. I need to turn my attention back to this mortal war going on,” Aries shrugged.
“I know war is your purveiw, but be careful that you don't get in the demigoddesses' way. You don't want to be their first victim just because they mistook you for the rogue god, whoever they are,” Hel warned seriously.
“Of course,” Aries agreed as he turned and left. In an instant he was back at his palace and he smiled wickedly. Try and squirm out of that, you bitches, he thought to himself. He just hoped it would distract them long enough.
14 August 1915
Elsa smiled as Moana walked up to their shared bed, all covered in silk and lace lingerie. They had argued at some length on the trip from the Congo back to Arendelle. Then they had argued still more deep into March before they each agreed that if August came before they found another demon, one of them would conceive a child. And at the prime minister's request, Elsa was the one that was chosen to be the mother. And, in all honesty, Elsa had wanted it that way.
Now Elsa was tied to the bed as Moana climbed on it and straddled her hips. Elsa bit down on the black rubber ball as she considered the silken outfit Moana wore. Elsa, of course, was butt naked with a plug deeply lodged in her anus and a gag in her mouth. Then Elsa noted the clicking of the door again and struggled to look up. Moana wasn't having it and just forced Elsa's head back down.
“Now, now, it is just Helga come to watch. Apparently, she has a thing about watching, and I did extend an invitation to her as well, but for now she just wants to watch. Oh, and don't worry, I stipulated she be dressed appropriately if she was going to be in here with us. Oh, and properly chaste until I say when she can play with herself or us!” Moana purred as she swung a key around on her finger.
Elsa smiled up through the gag. She'd known Helga had kinks of her own, and that she'd been talking with Moana at length, but this surprised her. Moana leaned down and whispered into Elsa's ear then. “Do you want to see her?” Elsa nodded vigorously.
“Honey Suckle, please come over here so that Island Lilly can get a look at your outfit!” Moana called.
Elsa could hear the slight tinkle of chains as Helga came around the bed to where Elsa lay. However, Moana was doing a damned good job of blocking her view, even going as far as putting her hand over Elsa's eyes. Finally, Elsa heard Helga stop next to the bed, and then a distinct rattle of chains as Moana moved somewhat. Finally, Moana moved her hand off Elsa's eyes and the sight that greeted Elsa had her inhaling deeply.
Helga stood there, her arms bound behind her back in a red leather arm binder. In her mouth was a silver o-ring gag, that prevented her from closing her mouth. Her long golden yellow hair was in a braid that was pulled down to something, forcing Helga's head upward, revealing the red leather collar with the silver o-ring with the chain Moana held attached to it. Her breasts were bare and presented properly. And around her hips was a chastity belt of worked red leather and silver. And over all the red leather and adornments she wore a dress that fully revealed her loins and breasts, in fact the dress was so skin tight that it showed her every muscle twitch as she stood there as still as she could. Then Elsa realized that Helga was slightly wiggling as though something wasn't right.
Elsa looked a question at Moana, and Moana chuckled. She reached over and pulled out a small device from under the waist of the chastity belt. She grinned wickedly as she rotated a dial on it and Helga began to moan louder and wiggle more. Moana then slid the remote device and it's wires back under the waist band of the belt. She looked down at Elsa and smiled wickedly.
“I am going to use those inserts on both of you more often! I had them made specially for you, and I wanted to surprise you with them on our hundredth anniversary, but given that you are going to be a mother soon, I felt it was warranted now! So, Helga gets to test out what is now being called a vibrator insert I had installed on your favorite chastity belt. And for your information Elsa, as you are the first of us to bear children, stealing my pleasure, I plan to make you pay for it.
“To that end, about two months ago, I went to our favorite shop and ordered a special outfit for you. Well, both of you, and after I knock you up, that is all you will ever be allowed to wear, Island Lilly. I do hope you'll enjoy it, my precious slave. Even Helga hasn't seen it yet, but she is going to be wearing it a lot too, because once you are pregnant, she is all I'll have left to play with until you recover fully from the birth. But don't you dare think that I'll let you get all dressed up for formal affairs or anything like that. Makeup, jewelry, in particular some I plan to give you today, yes. Clothes, oh, no! You will wear what I tell you you can wear, and if anyone has an issue with it, they can take it up with me! For now, you are my live in slave, and as such, I am going to make you regret not letting me go first!
“Also, I am sick and tired of these games and our lifestyles being a secret that everyone knows about but no one talks about! I am done hiding that we enjoy sex, and that we love it when it is kinky too! From now on, we are going to be out and loud and proud of it! No more hiding it in the bedroom! Hence why I am making you two my public slaves. I want it to be front page news that I am walking the two of you down the street naked and on a leash. I want it to be seen by everyone that I am banging your brains out on the plaza fountain! And I want to encourage that kind of thing in our people too! Sex is nothing to be ashamed of! Flaunt it!
“However, I want to remind you, this is a consensual thing. Both of you! If at any point I take it too far, just speak the safe word, 'Tomatoa,' and it ends. If at any point things get too uncomfortable, you two have the power to stop it. Maybe not the pregnancy, but at least the game can end. And it will end. This is a relationship founded on trust, and I won't violate it.
“That said, Helga agreed to be my second slave, Island Lilly. And as you can tell, she has some serious kinks of her own. In fact, she wanted to get you pregnant herself as she has a pregnancy fetish too! But I told her that she wasn't married to either of us yet, so she isn't allowed to get you pregnant yet. However, I did promise her the times of her life in our bed until we are wed. And with how much she is enjoying the denial aspect of our game, I think I might leave her like this for a while,” Moana smirked wickedly.
Elsa rolled her eyes and laid her head back on the pillow. She really wished Moana would just get to it! Moana knew how she felt about being teased like this. And what she was doing to Helga made Elsa even more hot and bothered. It was all Elsa could do to try and grind her crotch against Moana's heavy weight on her hips. Moana seemed to notice and then smirked.
“My, aren't you impatient today, Island Lilly! Fine, you want it so bad, I'll let Honey Suckle get you started while I prepare something special! Honey Suckle, put that dirty tongue of yours to work!” and Moana pulled on the chain, forcing Helga down and in between Elsa's legs.
Helga didn't need any coaching and instantly went to work with her tongue, licking at Elsa's sodden sex for all she was worth, despite the awkwardness imposed by the arm binder and what Elsa now saw as manacles on her ankles. The fetters were made of silver like everything else, and Elsa wondered what Moana had meant even through the building haze of Helga lapping at her sex. She didn't have to wait overly long, as just as Helga was about to push her into an orgasm, Moana came back and yanked on Helga's hair roughly, and it was then that Elsa noted that her hair was tied to a anal hook that ran to the small hole in the chastity belt that was designed for defecating.
Moana got up on Elsa's legs then, and slowly started applying an ointment to Elsa's crotch, smoothing the clear cream softly across Elsa's fiery loins. Elsa had thought it would be a cool ointment that would cool her off, but she'd never been so wrong. The fire in her sex became a raging bonfire and then a forest fire as the ointment went to work. Elsa had never felt such need and desire in her life, not from her sex. She noted that her nipples had gotten so rigidly erect that she could probably have cut glass with them.
Finally, Moana finished working the ointment in and got up and went and washed her hands off. When she came back, she slowly slid her silken panties down off of her garter and mounted Elsa's hips. Moana ground her hips into Elsa's hard, and Elsa screamed through her gag at the fist wave of orgasms to rip through her. Her back arched and then she felt Moana begin to assault her nipples. Elsa felt the warm milk begin to flow out of them again as Moana sucked greedily on them. She'd known that was coming when Moana had prepped her and used her magic on her boobs.
Still, Elsa had never had so many crashing orgasms in her life, not consecutively. Elsa screamed loudly and Moana bit down on Elsa's right nipple hard. Elsa went over into sub space instantly, and lost track of anything as the waves of pleasure rolled through her. However, as it never lasts, she finally came down from the high and her senses returned. That was when she finally noted that both of Moana's medium breasts were out of her brassier and Moana was grunting as she ground her hips against Elsa's.
Elsa couldn't help but moan as each rubbing thrust felt like something was inside her and filled her to her breaking point. It was obvious that Moana was feeling it too as she kept moaning and reaching up and playing with her own breast. All Elsa could do was lay there and concentrate on the mysterious feeling of fullness that was filling her body with pleasure. Finally, Moana reached her peak and screamed as she orgasmed hard and then Elsa felt a warmness spread throughout her middle as Moana continued to grind her hips into hers.
The building orgasm repeated itself twice more, with both Elsa and Moana riding the high, until finally Moana rolled off of Elsa and lay next to her. Both of them were drenched in sweat and Moana smiled as she snuggled against her taller and larger wife. Finally, she pulled Helga down onto the bed with them so that Elsa could snuggle against her as best she could with her arms and legs tied to the bed. The trio lay there, with Helga moaning every so often as the vibrators in her sex stimulated her, but Elsa and Moana felt the comfort in Helga all the same.
Still, all good things had to come to an end, and Elsa opened her eyes as she felt Moana get up, and start untying her arms and legs from their bonds. Then Moana removed the gag from Elsa's lips When she was done, she crawled back into the bed with the other two and she smiled at Elsa. Elsa felt Moana's arms go around her waist and begin to rub her belly. Elsa put her hand over Moana's and smiled gently at her wife.
“I can't wait,” Elsa purred.
“I know, neither can I. It felt like I was inside you, like a man, and it was all I could do to keep going. But I wanted to make sure it worked, so if all the orgasms were a bit much, I am sorry. However, I know that ointment is extremely short lived, so it should be past by now,” Moana explained softly.
“It is. I don't feel it anymore. I want to know what it was though. I'd never felt that aroused in my life as when you applied that stuff,” Elsa asked gently.
Helga made several moaning sounds and what almost sounded like speech. Moana giggled, and then leaned over Elsa, “Hey, you said you wanted to watch, you get to watch us cuddle too! And don't you even think of giving into any orgasms! You are expressly forbidden to cum, Honey Suckle! Not until I say so!”
Helga groaned in frustration, but there was also an under current of pleasure in it. Moana laid back down and snuggled in between Elsa's large breasts. She then looked up from between them and smiled at Elsa. Elsa lowered her head and the pair kissed deeply, their passion flowing between them. It didn't matter how many times they'd fucked over the years, each time was pure bliss for both, no matter how long or short they were. And now they had another play partner.
They broke the kiss, and Elsa sighed. “So, I think it is time you finished off Honey Suckle, Mo. Even the most masochistic have their limits, you know. Also, one of these days, I am going to come up with a cute name for you, particularly if you keep coming up with them for us!”
Moana chuckled. “Don't worry about the name. But I know how much you love giving as receiving, so why don't you help me end Honey Suckle's pleasurable torments?”
“Deal!” Elsa agreed.
Together they rolled Helga over and each took a side. Elsa slid down to the junction between Helga's legs and sighed at the sopping fluids leaking from within the chastity belt. She smirked and looked up at Moana.
“I think Honey Suckle has been a bad girl, my love. Shall we punish her properly for cumming without us or your say so?” Elsa purred wickedly.
“Let's. Just let me get that belt undone first, Island Lilly,” Moana purred back just as wickedly.
Moana found the key where it had fallen on the bed and unlocked the chastity belt. Elsa hurriedly pulled it off the tall blonde and began eating Helga's pussy for all it was worth. Moana turned her attention to Helga's breasts and began suckling at them. Like she had done to Elsa, Helga's breasts were full of milk and ripe to be milked. It didn't take much suction from Moana to get her reward. Helga sighed in relief as the pair assaulted her body.
It didn't take long to push Helga into a multiple orgasm. Her back tried to arch further than it already was from having her arms bound behind her back. Elsa continued her assault, deliberately pushing Helga further and further over the edge, prolonging the orgasms as much as she could. Finally, however, Helga started to come down from the orgasms and her screams of pleasure subsided. In the end, she seemed so out of it, that Elsa and Moana hurried to free her arms from the binder and peel the dress off of her.
Minutes later Helga slowly came back to her senses and she smiled up at the worried faces of her two lovers. “That was incredible!” she got out in a hoarse voice from her earlier screaming.
Elsa smiled at her, “Don't worry us like that again! This was your first time with us, and we thought we'd broken you!”
Helga shook her head, “Don't worry about it. I needed that level of release! You have no idea what it has been like for me. Having to play the in control soldier, the tough competent woman, and the cold hearted bitch all at the same time for so long, it was finally able to be released! For once, I could just lay back and let things happen as they would! And it was worth it! As far as I am concerned, I am your slave for life now! I never want to go back to that life again!”
“Helga, give it some time. Don't make rushed decisions based on one night of good sex. It took Elsa and I years to tie the knot and come to our arrangement. We'll be happy to add you to our family, but just not yet, okay, Honey Suckle? We still have plenty of time to make that jump later,” Moana offered gently.
“I can live with that. Just so long as the sex stays this good!” Helga purred as she stretched out her aching limbs.
“Deal, Helga. Now, I have one last thing for both of you, so I am going to need both of you to lay here, and be as still as you can while I work. I spent time learning how to do this properly so that I don't make a mistake and injure one of you, so don't worry,” Moana said as she stood up and walked to a dresser and pulled out a small brown wooden case.
She sat down on the bed and began pulling needles and piercings out of the box. Both Helga and Elsa looked at each other before Elsa turned back to the prepping Moana. “And what are you planning to do with those? We already have pierced ears.”
“These aren't for your ears. Elsa, remember earlier last month when you couldn't find your wedding ring? Well, that was because I took it and had it adjusted somewhat. Now, Elsa, hold still, this will hurt a bit, but it is essential that you hold absolutely still. Trust me, you'll enjoy it after it heals,” Moana cooed.
Elsa nodded, and Helga watched as Moana blew gently on a needle until it was red hot. She then let it cool a bit and the with one swift motion, placed it next to Elsa's large puffy nipple, and pushed it through. Elsa yelped, but held still as Moana slowly replaced the scalding hot needle with a piercing that resembled her wedding ring. Once the piercing was in place and situated, Moana turned to the next boob.
This time, she pulled out a piercing that Elsa recognized as the engagement ring Moana had insisted on buying Elsa to honor the local tradition. The process was repeated, with the same yelp as before. Elsa looked down at the two exquisite piercings and smiled, but Moana waved a finger at her. “Oh, we aren't done yet. Spread your legs, wide,” Moana ordered.
Elsa looked on in confusion as Moana pulled another piercing, this one a simple silver loop, out of the box. Still, she did as ordered and spread her legs, a feeling of dread in her middle. Moana leaned down and gently blew onto Elsa's hot sex, and used her fingers to gently coax Elsa's clit to full erect state. Once she had it as big as it was going to get, and Elsa breathing hard, Moana pierced the little nub and replaced it with the silver piercing.
“And this one is to symbolize that you are my slave forever, Elsa,” Moana purred.
As the piercing was fastened into place, Elsa noted that Moana had used her fire magic to fuse the piercings in place, as she tried to remove the engagement ring piercing. “You welded them on?!” Elsa demanded in shock.
“Yup! You don't get to take them off now, and so you can't loose them this time! Also, you are permanently my wife, my lover, and my slave. This just makes it ultimately official. Also, there was one other thing I wanted to do to you and Helga, but that one will take time to make and I didn't get the order in soon enough. Are you okay being branded as a slave of mine?” Moana asked softly.
Elsa gulped. Branding?! Moana had commissioned a brand for her and Helga?! This was taking their mistress/slave relationship a bit far. Still, Elsa calmed her mind and searched her emotions. At this point, she didn't care so long as Moana loved her. She would gratefully accept the brand if it pleased her wife. So, Elsa opened her eyes to a worried Moana.
“Honey, when it is done, place it wherever you want on my skin. I am your slave, do with me as you will! I'll even be seen in the most embarrassing conditions for the rest of my life if it makes you happy. You could walk me on a leash naked through the city and I would willingly do it for you!” Elsa pledged.
“Me too! As long as I am being all honest and everything, I am ready to be your pin cushion, and branded as a slave to you. And like Elsa, humiliate me all you want. Force me into any situation that you want. I am yours and Elsa's plaything. A human fuck toy!” Helga agreed as she thrust out her chest and spread her legs widely.
“Are the two of you sure? These are things that you should sleep on and make sure you want. Oh, and Helga, you just get simple starter studs until such time as Elsa and I decide to make you fully family. Which shouldn't be too long from now! I just want to make sure that these ideas aren't going too far for either of you,” Moana challenged them both.
Elsa looked at Helga, who nodded back, and then she turned and faced Moana. “We haven't used the safe word yet, have we?” Moana shook her head negative. “Well there you go, Mistress. As far as I am concerned, I would step down as Empress and turn it all over to you if you demanded it. There is nothing I won't do for you!”
Moana smiled widely. She then turned and saw the matching agreement from Helga. Moana smirked wickedly, “Alright, Honey Suckle, it is your turn!”
