(Chapter Four: Beauty and The Elf)
As Belle sits in a majestic looking bed with her lower parts, tucked under the covers, she tries to read a book with candlelight illuminating her eye’s path across the page.
But her troubled thoughts keep obstructing her concentration.
She stops before glancing around the room, she’s in. Every shadow within it, is like a fear inducing menace, on her mind and heart.
The expansiveness of the room makes it seem emptier than it is. It reminds her of the emptiness she’s felt these past few days, trapped on Sersel’s land.
After the time when he nearly strangled her to death before sweeping her away in his magic smoke back to his dwellings, as soon as they arrived, he vigorously apologized to her and used his energy to heal her.
Then during the following days, he allowed her to roam anywhere she pleased within the boundaries of the vicinity of his castle with the only caveat being that he would not allow her to go beyond them.
It’s not like she wants to leave, anyway.
But just to test him and maybe frustrate him a bit, she has made several escape attempts, usually while outside in the gardens before he realized what she was doing with his supernatural senses and teleported to where she was to stop her.
She knew that he knew that she was purposely testing his patience but to her surprise, he never lashed out at her or became violent towards her like he’d done that day in Adam’s castle.
Instead, he remained calm and tacitly let her know that he wanted her to go back to his castle.
But even if she did want to escape his grasp, at this point, where would she even go?
He made sure that in this reality, all she had was him. Her mother was eaten by a dragon she was battling, long ago and her father, Maurice, left one day and never returned. She’d concluded he was killed.
She fended for herself in the house that they once shared with adults from the town checking in on her and helping her with things, ever so often.
Gaston also visited her, regularly.
Then while she was still a teen, she started being asked to help different people out with their dragon problems since everyone knew about her dragon slayer lineage and that’s when her and Gaston, started their adventures, together.
In this life, he’d been her best friend since they were very small, that is, until he abandoned her for his happily ever after with Adam.
She also can’t escape this reality unless Sersel unravels the curse he placed on Gaston which would then free her from its collateral damage.
It’s the most dizzyingly confusing and tormenting experience, holding the memories of two lives within your mind, at the same time.
She’s surprised she hasn’t gone insane by now.
She still possesses her love for Adam and remembers all that they went through when he was The Beast, in their real life.
But at the same time, she has all these memories of Sersel.
A lot of them are surprisingly filled to the brim with happiness and pleasure.
Many of them are very intimate in a way that makes her feel like she’s betrayed The Beast.
This reality isn’t authentic but it doesn’t live up to that position.
She never got to consummate her love with Adam, either through marriage or in the other way.
But she has all these memories of doing so with Sersel. Of course, he made it this way which infuriates her, to no end.
She’s had intense urges every now and then, to give into his subtle wooing because her attraction to him also feels very real but so far, she’s been able to restrain herself.
Whenever her mind runs rampant with fantasies of him taking her, she refuses to even be with herself because she doesn’t want to betray Adam, any more than she feels she already has.
As her hand subconsciously glides over the fluffy, silk covered pillow next to her, she’s suddenly reminded of Sersel’s skin and lips.
She yanks her hand away.
She gazes down at the book in her lap while biting her lip.
She starts thinking that maybe the book is just insipid and that’s why she’s having a hard time focusing on it.
She’s noticed both from her false memories and since she’s been back in his castle, that Sersel’s always reading books just like her. He also retreats to a chamber where all his sorcery related artifacts, are located.
The place is lined with spell books and other books related to all things magic.
There’s a table in there with all kinds of fascinating objects on it to assist him in things like creating magic serums and casting spells.
He has even allowed her to watch him, even up until recently, as he’s ‘worked.’
She must admit that he is rather mesmerizing when he’s concentrating and determined.
A memory of him seductively winking at her, flashes in her mind.
She shakes the thought out of her head before sighing.
I can’t keep existing like this.
He’s even allowed her to have her own bedroom although before the curse, she has memories of them always sharing a bed and a bedroom.
He’s refused to admit that he’s casted any curse and instead, has opted for constantly gaslighting her, pretending that the things she knows and sees, aren’t real and that she’s just losing her mind.
As Belle drearily stares at her book with dissatisfaction, an idea pops into her head.
I did get a couple glimpses of what he’s been reading! THAT seemed far more interesting than this mind-numbing tome, I have! What if I—
She remembers from her false memories that he reads himself to sleep and has usually fallen asleep by this time. These memories could possibly be wrong since he planted them there. But they could be true, too.
Belle decides that the only way to find out, is to sneak into his room and her former room before the curse and ‘borrow’ his book for the night and then sneakily return it to him, tomorrow.
She drifts down a few hallways with elements to them like glittery, green walls, glowing, leaf patterns, paintings with Italian Renaissance, fresco sensibilities featuring scenes with lots of elves in them and statues of more elvish beings before she finally finds herself, in his bedroom.
The place is spacious, regal and very fantastical looking with its ornately crafted, gilded furniture and color palettes reminiscent of that found in nature.
She is surprised to discover Sersel resting in his massive bed with an opened book, lying with its pages against the mattress, near his hand.
She is also awestruck by how breathtaking he ends up appearing to her.
His long, white hair is a vision as it floats from his head over his sheets.
His alabaster skin is as silky and rosy as red rose petals.
His ethereal, chiseled features, plush, pink lips and graceful, long fingers, contrast with his thick, sinuous, strong arm.
Then there’s his cuspate ears which completes his divine appearance.
The rational part of Belle’s mind reminds her that she didn’t come in here to gawk at the being but to ‘borrow’ his amazing book.
But then, the emotional, sensual part of her mind gives into the irresistible urge to caress his face.
Her unblinking, transfixed gaze drinks him in and her breath becomes shallow as she lightly touches his cheek.
‘So beautiful,’ she thinks.
When he doesn’t wake up, she inches her hand up to his hair before delicately stroking it.
She stops and waits a few seconds to see if he’s awaking.
Then she goes in to stroke it, again.
His hair feels so luscious to the touch that she becomes hypnotized by the feel of it and like a moth to a flame, she keeps going back in for more.
Finally, something warns her more vehemently than the other times before now, not to take this last stroke.
In the end, she ignores the obnoxious voice.
His eyes float open.
