A Hard Day’s Knight
“Gar!”
“MAX!!!”
The two elder warriors shook hands, before embracing in the middle of the War Room of Plumber Headquarters. The two have not seen each other face to face in years, but both felt good to meet up again.
“It has been too long, Tennyson.” Gar proclaimed.
“I agree.” Max replied. “But we both have our own lives to attend to.”
Gar agreed. “Ruling an empire can indeed take up the bulk one’s time. I’ve come to enjoy these excursions away from my kingdom. Though I wish they were more combat-oriented.”
Max shook his head & grinned. “Fighting isn’t always the best way of life…”
Gar chuckled. “I know of your battles in the Null Void! A warrior like you will always have his battles celebrated!”
“Yeah…no matter how covert you want them to be.” Max added.
“What’s the fun of having them covert? They SHOULD be celebrated!” Gar said enthusiastically, patting him hard on the back. “And definitely would be preferably over this political nonsense.”
Max chuckled as he sat down in a nearby chair. “Maybe, but ‘political nonsense’ is sometimes needed. I know this isn’t exactly your specialty, but a trade agreement between Earth and Khoros would greatly benefit both planets. Especially in the Automotive industry.”
“Yes, yes, you don’t have to convince me further.” Gar told him. “Looma and I just wish to get these proceedings over with. I trust that you have met with her request?”
Max was hesitant to answer, but did. “Unfortunately Ben’s not here to escort your daughter for this trip, but we have another of our finest plumber agents for that task.” Just then, the door to the room slid open. “That should be Kevin right now for—Ben?”
Sure enough, the young man who walked through the door was the noted hero of the Galaxy. “Hey, Grandpa. Did you know they just put in a Mr. Smoothy stand here?”
“Ben, I thought you were off-planet.” Max said.
“I was.” Ben confirmed. “But the Vreedles basically caught themselves. It involved Cotton Candy & some homemade super glue, but we were able to put them away
“SPLENDID!!!” Gar raised his four arms in joy as he approached Ben, who just now noticed he was in the room. Before he could react, he already felt his spine being readjusted by a double bear hug. “She will be overjoyed to hear this news.”
“GAR!? You’re here?” Ben struggled out. “Wait, she? Oh no, you mean—!”
And almost right on cue, the princess of the Tetramand Empire, Looma Red Wind, entered the room. And the first sight she saw was of course, the wielder of the Omnitrix. “Good Battle, Beloved!”
With great and shocking speed she rushed towards him as her father released his hold. And as soon as Ben’s feet hit the ground, he was picked up and doubly hugged again by Looma; though this embrace was decidedly more pleasurable as Ben’s head rested against her ample bosom.
“Beloved?” Max repeated.
“Did your grandson not tell you?” Gar responded. “In less than a year my sweet little princess will be wed to the Greatest Hero in the Universe.”
“I am so glad we could meet again, Ben.” She told him. “I wished to see you one last time before my bachelorette party!”
After what seemed like an eternity in her tightening embrace, Ben was finally released; falling nearly limp to the floor. “Wait…Tetramands have bachelorette parties?”
“Of course!” She told him. “It’s a time-honored tradition for the Bride to gather her best of friends, travel the galaxy and raid the planet of the Bride’s choosing.”
Immediately Ben’s eyes widened and his jaw dropped to the floor. Max saw this and decided to take action. “We’ll talk later Gar, but Ben will be on the job.”
Gar nodded as he made his leave with his daughter, who waved and winked at her beloved as he stood frozen in his shock. As the door shut behind them though, he was snapped out of it. “Beloved, huh?”
Ben shook his head. “It’s a long story, and the short version is its all Kevin’s fault.” Ben replied.
Max smirked. “I understand. But it is better you being here than him, since you were requested. I don’t think I have to remind you the importance of this trade agreement. Their advances in vehicular science would benefit a lot of people.”
“I got it Grandpa Max.” Ben told him. “I can handle escort duty with my eyes closed.”
“And you’ve done it before.” Max replied. “Which is why Rook is going as backup.”
Ben wasn’t crazy about that idea, but didn’t shoot it down, either. “Alright, it’s your call.”
“Glad to see we’re on the same page.” Max said. “Now Looma and her father will only be here until tomorrow when the ceremony begins. We’ve convinced the two not to leave Undertown, but try not to cause any city-crumbling damage.”
“In my defense, it was the bad guys coming after me that led to the damage.” Ben argued.
“Ben, this is serious.” Max told him. “Just because it looks like a simple mission doesn’t mean our enemies won’t look for opportunities. We always have to be on the lookout.”
Ben sighed. “You’re right, sorry. I’m just not too excited about playing escort…especially considering who I’m showing around.”
Max nodded in agreement. “It’s not the most glamourous job, but it’s important nonetheless. And it does come with its own perks.”
“True, like the escort being able to bench press 5 tons.”
“NO, NO, AND I SAY AGAIN, NO!!!”
It was the ‘warm’ welcome Ben and his group expected as they entered the lobby of Undertown’s newest business, Pakmar’s Weekend Inn; owned and operated by Pakmar himself. Pakmar & Ben have had numerous encounters in the past, all of which have led to the former’s business being reduced to rubble. So Ben & Rook understood Pakmar’s apprehensiveness about giving them a room.
Looma however, was not happy with his greeting. “You would dare refuse the Princess of Khoros!? You little—!”
“EASY, Looma! Easy!” Ben said, stepping in front of her. “Look, Pakmar, I know we’ve had our problems in the past. And I know I may have played a part in ruining some of your businesses…”
“EIGHT Businesses!” Pakmar said, correcting him.
“Yeah…” Ben chuckled nervously. “…but this is REALLY important. Princess Looma is part of a Trade Agreement between Earth & Khoros; one that could be very lucrative in the future for a businessman like yourself. Besides, we’re gonna show her around Undertown. We’ll barely be using the rooms!”
“Pakmar has heard that story before!” The little green man replied. “No deal!”
Ben let out a frustrating groan as he turned away, but Rook was not about to give up just yet. “Excuse me, what if we were to, as the Earthlings say, sweeten the deal?”
The diminutive businessman was intrigued. “Pakmar listening…”
“We can offer you triple staying rate just for tonight.” Rook continued. “And the Plumbers are willing to let you advertise on several planets that are favorable allies with Earth.”
Pakmar took a moment to ponder over the offer in front of him, before making his decision. “Alright, deal. But if even one room is messed up in here, Pakmar suing for every cent you got!”
He held out his hand and Rook promptly shook it, confirming the deal. As they boarded a nearby elevator, Looma shot the owner a cold & dirty look; one that surprised and angered him as the doors shut behind them.
“Nicely done, Rook.” Ben complimented. “But I wouldn’t have gone so overboard with the embellishing.”
“It was not embellishment, Ben.” Rook replied. “I was ordered to ensure that we could check in without any problems. You reputation has caused some strain that at times takes monetary influence to repair.”
Ben hung his head in shame. “Great. So I make a few mistakes and now the Plumbers have to bribe people for me.”
Rook noticed Ben’s reaction. “It…is not that bad, sir. You are still considered one of the finest Plumbers. And you are not alone; Kevin has been known to make this protocol necessary as well.”
“You are such a good friend.” Looma said as she hugged Ben from behind, inadvertently placing her breasts on his head. “He would make a fine Best Man for our wedding, don’t you think?”
“Yeah, that reminds me.” Ben responded. “During this whole escort thing, we’re gonna have to discuss boundaries.”
“Ah, ah, ah…” Looma said as she wagged her finger on her free hand. “Custom protocol for Plumber protection says the escort must always accompany the guest wherever they desire.”
Rook was impressed by Looma’s knowledge of Plumber protocol. “Very well-spoken, Princess. I did not know you read the Plumber handbook—!”
“You’re not helping.” Ben growled at his partner.
A moment later, a ding would cross their ears and the elevator doors slid open. Ben was the first one off, followed by his partner and the Princess. “Alright, fine. Just let me take some time to clean up a little bit. We can chill here until—!”
“Ah, ah, ah…” She said again, wagging the same finger. “Plumber protocol; the escort protecting me must also respect the wishes of the guest. And I have desired to witness the Monster Truck Battles Kevin has discussed. Perhaps we will see a beheading during this event.”
“Um, Prin—!”
Ben put up his hand, halting Rook from spoiling anything. “Alright, sounds good. Just let me take a shower first…”
Putting his arm around Rook’s shoulder, the young Plumber walked off down the hall with as the Tetramand Princess proceeded to her own suite. “Why did you not allow me to correct her, Ben?”
“One, because it’s not always the best idea to correct a Princess who can bench press Mack trucks, and two, because the sight of cars battling each other and not living beings doing it will distract her enough to make this escort thing a lot easier…and bearable. This is my room, I’ll meet you downstairs with Looma after I’m done up here.”
Rook nodded in agreement as Ben used his passkey to open the door to his room. Walking in, he shut the door behind him, relishing this moment of relaxation as he knew what would come later with showing Looma around.
The steam flooded out of the bathroom as the shower faucet was turned off. A moment later, the curtain was brushed aside by Ben, who felt refreshed as he stepped out onto the bathmat.
“AH! So much better.” He said, grabbing a tower to dry off. As he ran the towel over his hair, he noticed he was in front of the bathroom mirror. He took a moment and used his hand to wipe away the fog from the mirror so he would have a clear view of himself.
“Hmm, gorgeous as usual…” He praised, letting his vanity flow. Ben wasn’t the type to adore his body constantly, but he did take the occasional time out to acknowledge it. His Plumber training on top of his sparring sessions with Gwen have given him a good physique; one where his six-pack is noticeable. He didn’t take too long to admire it though. But as he walked out of the bathroom still drying his hair, he would find another admirer of his body.
“Impressive physique for a human.”
“GAAAAAHHHH!!!”
The shock nearly floored Ben as he snatched the towel from his head to see Looma standing across from him; all four of her eyes looking him up and down. “I can’t let that go to waste after our wedding…”
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN HERE!?!?” He barked at her. “YOU EVER HEARD OF PERSONAL SPACE!?”
“But we are to be Wed soon.” She reminded him. “And I figured, why not see what treats I’ll have to myself…”
Ben stood for a moment wondering what she meant, until she could feel her gaze on the package she referred to, and promptly covered it up with his towel. She responded by playfully biting her finger and lower lip; the image of Ben’s tool still fresh in her mind.
It took all of Ben’s willpower not to explode at her, and a visual reminder that she’s a Tetramand, as he took a deep breath and exhaled. “Look, Looma…we need to talk about this whole marriage thing…”
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!
Ben’s words were lost in a blast that sent the two of them off their feet. The outer wall of the room was completely destroyed, sending dust and debris into the air. A moment later, lights began to shine into the room, and as the dust died down Ben spotted that the lights came from Alien weaponry…being held by over a dozen Forever Knights. And in the middle of the group stood their leader; the Forever King.
“We meet again, Tennyson.” He said. “You seem to have the unfortunate pleasure of involving yourself in our business. No matter, relinquish the Tetramand Princess into our custody and we may let you leave with minimal damage.”
But within the sudden arrival of the Forever Knights, Ben was only focused on one thing. “Could you guys at least let me get my pants on first!?”
