"I have the scroll you're looking for", Head Fire Sage Sayu placed a green wooden box on the table, "my grandfather said one day you would request the scroll, but until then the scroll must remain hidden." Sayu opened the box. He handed the scroll to Aang.
Aang carefully opened the scroll. He eyes grew wide as he stared at the writing on the scroll. Zuko and Katara looked at the scroll over Aang's shoulder. They had the same reaction.
"What's it say Twinkle Toes?"
"I don't know."
"Let me see." Sokka took the scroll. "What kind of language is this? Is it some kind of code?"
Sayu looked at the scroll. "It's Kodai, a dead language. I've seen it before. I know someone who can translate it. Kính he's a caretaker and kind of a sage in training. I'll send for him."

Azula fired a blue bolt of lightning that streaked across the ocean. It travelled so far she could not see where it landed. The twins clapped.
"Excellent form", commented Li.
"Exceptional control," added Lo.
"Perfect, not even a hair out of place, " they said in unison.
"Amazing", Captain Takei bowed before Azula, "you are truly amazing."
"I know. Why are you back so soon, without my mangos?"
"Because of your brother," Captain Takei stood, "he requested that more female guards be brought to the island. The female guards are to replace the male guards in the fortress. I wanted to check to see there were any male guards you wanted to keep or get rid of."
"No, take them all I don't care. Li and Lo you decide who goes and who stays." The twins left with Captain Takei. Azula returned to her training. She fired a bolt of lightning toward the sun. The bolt looked as if it pierced the sun before fading.
"The sun is not your enemy, Azula."
Her eyes narrowed. "What do you want, Miso?"
"I just came to check on you. I heard about the changes your brother made. I figured you'd be upset."
"You figured wrong."
"If you're not upset over your brother's changes; what are you so upset about? I can feel your negative energy. It is the same vibe I got after your brother's last visit."
"I am fine." She returned to her training.

"Are you able to read the scroll, Kính?"
"Yes, Fire Lord Zuko. The first line says the four nations are locked in a chest. It can be open with the black and white Pearls. Thousands of years ago the Moon Spirit and the Ocean Spirit give each pearls. La traveled to the deepest part of the ocean. The Ocean Spirit took a pearl from the heart of an under ocean volcano. It is known as Kurodaiya. Kurodaiya was given to Tui. Tui took a white pearl and caught a 100 bolts of lightening. It was called Byakurai. Byakurai was given to the La. La and Tui took on their final form and remained in this world shortly after exchanging pearls. La and Tui decided that the Avatar would keep Byakurai and Kurodaiya safe. When Kensoki, the world most powerful fire bender, became avatar he used Byakurai and Kurodaiya to lock the Arc of the Avatar. The tablet of Hem Set Bag Yak Nu is in the arc. The arc contains more than just the tablet it contains wisdom from all the nations and secret scrolls of the Avatar. Too many people wanted what was in the arc. Kensoki hid the pearls so that no one could retrieve them without the help of the Avatar but the Avatar could not open the arc alone. The Arc of the Avatar was placed in the Amber Island Temple upon Kensoki's death."
Shyu stopped Kính. "The Amber Island Temple is in ruins. However, Kensoki was a member of the royal family. All the items belonging to the royal family were placed in the Dragon's Fang, a secret chamber under the Prisoner's Tower, after the sages moved to the new temple. I believe the Arc of the Avatar is Kensoki's Chest. There was a legend saying the chest was full of treasures. However, no one could open it. The fire sages decided it was best to hide it where no one would think to look. Kính did you see it when you did your last security check? It is a large chest with no visible lock. An element is carved into each side of the chest. The top is made out of marble, and the brackets and handles are gold."
His eyes lit up. "Yes, I saw it."
"This is great. The answers I need are in the Dragon's Fang. We just need the pearls."
Kính’s shoulders dropped. His mouth opened slightly askew, "Oh dear".
"What is it?"
"Fire Lord Zuko, it's says you'd have to swear by blood to retrieve the pearls and place them in the arc before the new moon or forfeit your worldly possessions and titles."
"Zuko can't give up being fire lord".
"Aang is right it's too big of a risk. The new moon is in 13 days", added Katara.
"Zuko, the pearls could be anywhere. I would enlist the help of my metal bending academy students, but who knows how long it would take even with their help".
"We would help you Zuko, but we don't know where to start."
"Sokka, it says, once Fire Lord Zuko swears by blood the locations of the pearls will be revealed."
The former head fire sage cleared his throat. "Fire Lord Zuko, your grandfather Fire Lord Azulan already retrieved Byakurai." The sage paused as the others gasped. "Fire Lord Sozin discovered a set of maps with the possible location for Byakurai. He was going to search for it after finding the avatar. Fire Lord Azulan found it after his father's death. It was hidden in a room below the palace. I am sure General Iroh knows where it is."
Zuko turned to his friends. "I know I can find Kurodaiya with your help."
"Are you sure Zuko?"
"Aang, I said I was willing to do whatever it takes and I meant it."
"Fire Lord Zuko if you want to continue. The scroll says you must touch the eye of the dragon with your ring finger."
Zuko placed is finger on the eye of the dragon carved into the back of the box. A sharp piece of metal, similar to the tip of a thumbtack, shot out from the eye. It pierced his finger drawing blood. A secret compartment at the base of the box opened. The compartment contained two maps. One map contained the locations of the islands where Kurodaiya and Byakurai were hidden. The second map contained instructions on how to get to Kurodaiya once on the Island.
Kính translated the second map. "Here are the maps, Fire Lord Zuko".
"We need to leave as soon as possible. Kurodaiya is located in the South Sea".

The team landed on Isla Island after flying almost non-stop for 2.5 days. The island was deserted. Isla Island was mostly beach. Jagged rocks started where the beached ended.
"Where do we go from here, Sokka?"
"Katara, I don't know map starts from an entryway," Sokka placed his hand on his forehead and squinted, "but all I see are rocks."
"There’s something underground that way". Toph pointed north. She led them away from the beach. "There is a tunnel, but part of it has collapsed. We'll have to make our own entrance." She created an opening. The team entered the tunnel.
"We have to be careful according to the map this place is full of traps. I am guessing we are here", Sokka pointed to a spot on the map, "we need to do a child's dance until we get here."
"Are you sure Sokka?"
"Well Sokka is right about the traps. Some of the stones have no support. If you step on them you'll keep falling. I can't see a bottom. Everyone follow me." Toph took one step, then two steps. She jumped to one set of stones. She stretched her leg to reach another stone.
"I see the pattern, don't you see it Sokka?"
Sokka watched Toph intently. "I do see it. It's the Ice Dance game."
"It's game we played as little kids. You'd pretend you were dancing on thin ice."
Katara and Sokka quickly caught up to Toph by playing the game. It took Aang and Zuko longer to make it across. The team continued down the tunnel until they reached a huge metal door.
"There's water on the other side. It's a river."
"We'll have to cross the river to get to the other side. The map says we can walk across. Open the door Toph".
Toph had no problem with opening door. There was a small amount of shore between the river and the door. Aang and Zuko held Sokka by his legs so could reach the river. Sokka reached his arm into the raging water. He was not able to the bottom. He tried again this time using his boomerang to extend his reach. He was able to touch the bottom.
"Sokka I don't think we can walk across a raging river."
"Maybe there are some stone something we can use."
"Zuko, I don't see anything. The water is moving too fast risk walking on stones."
"Katara, you're right we need a path. The water is moving fast but it isn't that deep. It' lower than Toph's height; plus, it's only about 40 feet wide. If you and Aang can part a section of the river and hold it long enough for Toph to get her footing she can create a path. "
"That's a good idea Sokka. Ready Katara?"
"Ready."
Katara and Aang parted the river. Toph created a 7-foot high path from the riverbed. The team made it quickly across.
"We need to hurry. Toph's path has formed a dam, and the water is rising."
"Good idea Katara." Zuko turned to Sokka. "Which way?"
"This way", he pointed east.
Soon the group reached a pair of huge wooden doors. The doors had a metal dragonhead with an open mouth in the middle of each door.
"The instructions say two flames will satisfy the dragons' hunger."
"I bet the door works just like the door to Ruku's shrine at the old Fire Sage Temple. " Aang to is stance in front of the left dragonhead.
Zuko took his stance in front of the right dragonhead. "Aang we'll fire on three. One, two, three" Both guys fired.
The doors slowly opened. Behind the doors was an oval shaped room with a crescent shaped opening in the ceiling. The light from the setting sun gave the team enough light see Kurodaiya. Kurodaiya was in the middle of the room mounted on a pedestal. The team walked over to the pearl after Toph said the ground was solid.
"Wait only Zuko can retrieve the pearl. The instructions state only the one bond by blood is allowed to touch the pearl."
Zuko reached to grab Kurodaiya.
"Stop"
"What is it Sokka?"
"There is a secret compartment here." Sokka pressed a circle, containing the four element symbols, which was carved into the pedestal. A secret compartment opened. He pulled out scroll. He sighed after opening the scroll. "This is in Kodai as well."
"Sokka do we need to do something from the scroll before taking the pearl?"
"Zuko, the map instructions just say take the scroll and the pearl."
"In that case”, Zuko grabbed the pearl. "AAAAARRRRGGGH", the pearl burned his hand. He fell to one knee.
"Zuko!"
"Guys we have to go."
The room stared to shake as soon as Toph spoke. Magma began breaking through the south wall.
"Lets go"
The team raced out the room. The cavern continued to shake. The magma broke through the wall and spilled out the room. It was almost as if the magma was chasing them. They soon reached the river. The team made it across just before the river took out path.

A searing pain ripped through Azula's hand. The pain became worse. She could not open her hand. Miso was able to land the deciding blow.
"That's three in a row Azula I win. We need to talk about your brother. Why does he continually do things to upset you? He says he wants you to get better but he continually antagonizes you to the point where-," Miso took a deep breath. "Azula, I think it would be best if your brother did not come to see you for at least a year."
