I'm sure readers of this story thought I'd died or something. I'm sorry, I was just uninspired to write this for a time. I'm back now and I hope to finish this story before the end of the year. This chapter is slightly different from the others in that there is no out and out sex in it (I know you're disappointed). It's a crucial set up for the next chapter though.
Enjoy, and again, I'm sorry for the wait.

I kept an eye on Sokka the rest of that day. He seemed very unconcerned with me anymore. It went on that way into the next morning. I couldn't figure out that prick's game.
At lunch I took a bite from the large fruit that Katara had just offered me. It was juicy and sweet but I wasn't really paying it any mind. Katara had moved to Sokka next, and tried to hand him one of the exotic fruits. He waved his hand to shoo her away. She gave him a puzzled look, shrugged her shoulders and moved on.
I should've known something was up, he never refuses food.
Sokka turned his eyes to me, he hadn't looked my way in more than a day. I watched him to see what he was up to, and curious as to why he'd forgo food that was offered to him. I licked my lip where a little of the juice had dribbled out.
I was surprised when Sokka got up and nonchalantly walked over to stand over me. He wordlessly reached down and took the fruit from my hand. I was about to protest when he slowly licked the bite mark on the fruit where my mouth had just been. An odd quiver ran down into my core as I watched.
“Sweet. Just like I remember.” he said softly, so that only I could hear. He looked down at me for a moment before he nibbled at the edge of the bite mark, using just his lips, all the while watching my reaction. Finally he took a large bite. Juice spilled down his chin, through his fingers, and onto his shirt.
I swallowed hard to keep back the saliva that had suddenly filled my mouth.
“What do you think you're doing?” I hissed angrily.
He didn't look at me, only kept his attention on the fruit in his hand. “My sister picked this fruit, so I figure it's Water Tribe property.” He looked at me then. “I'm just claiming what's mine.”
I couldn't take it any more, he was infuriating. I lept to my feet to stand nose to nose with him. He smelled like sweat and fruit. “Do you have a problem with me?” I demanded angrily.
“You know I do!” his voice was sharp.
I glanced at the others. Most of them were watching us out of curiosity. Aang's eyes had a growing sadness in them and Katara's went wide. I couldn't stand the confusion and hurt in her blue orbs. I looked back at Sokka. “What do you want to do about it?” I growled. If we were going do fight I didn't want to do it here. Not in front of the others. I lowered my voice. “You going to start stalking me again?”
His eyes crackled with anger as they bore into me. It was invigorating the way I could pull reactions out of him. It was addicting. “Come on.” he said angrily to me as he grabbed my upper arm.
“Sokka?” Aang had stood to stop us.
The Water Tribe warrior turned to look at his friend. “Don't worry, Aang. There's just some things the Prince here and I have to straiten out. No fighting, I promise.” It amazed me he could get his voice to go from threatening to goofy in that short a span of time.
I looked at the Avatar. He nodded and left Sokka to do whatever he deemed necessary to set our relationship strait. Trusting fool.
Sokka half marched me out of camp and deeper into the temple. I thought we might be headed to his room, but he took us down another corridor to a room I'd never been in. It was sparsely furnished and looked to be one of the monk's old offices.
“What the hell is your deal?” I yelled when he finally released my arm. His fingers were going to leave marks but I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction by telling him.
“You need to cut the superior attitude, Princy. You're not better than us, hell, you're not even that great a firebender.”
“What are you talking about?” I was thrown, I thought this was going to be about Katara.
“The other night when you “visited” me was a perfect example. You take. You never ask for the things you want. If you wanted my sister you could've asked her.” His eyes became dangerous again and he grabbed the front of my tunic, I held on to his wrists to brace myself. “But make no mistake, if she says no, you fucking better take that as a no!” So this was about his sister.
I slapped his hands away, or I would've if he didn't have a vice grip. “I will.” What was I saying? Did I really intend to let her go if she refused me? I was unsure, but I was willing to venture anything at this point.
Sokka looked dubious at my answer. Maybe he was smarter than I gave him credit if he wasn't going to trust me at my word. Hell, I didn't even trust my word right now. He released me and started to the door, when he reached it he turned back briefly. “Just remember, I'll be watching you.”
After the threat (or was it a promise) he was gone.

How many times have I thought I was on the proper path, doing what I thought was right? Now I was confused. Was this my new, new reality? I didn't know, but I was willing to push this as far as possible.
I approached Katara with a newfound sense of purpose. “Katara, can I speak to you?” Gods, I sounded lame. Surprisingly she nodded her head and stood to follow me. I glanced around alert, ready for her manic brother to jump out at me at any minute for talking to his beloved sibling.
“What did you want to talk about?” She tossed her long hair behind her shoulder and smiled at me. Her eyes were intoxicating and I was feeling a little light-headed.
I leaned against the wall next to her shoulder, closer than was really proper. I could see an uneasy look form on her face but to her credit she didn't flinch away. “What do you think of me?” I knew if I didn't proceed carefully I'd blow possibly my only chance.
Her posture softened as she considered her answer thoughtfully. “I think you are a great teacher and Aang is blessed to have you here. You're strong and determined. Your strength is not only in your will, which is formidable, but in your convictions.” She laid a hand on my arm and I looked down at it briefly. “I know it couldn't have been easy to leave your home.”
I reached up and ran a finger from her cheek to her jaw. “It couldn't have been easy for you either.” I murmured gently to her. “And I was there to make your decision all the more hard.”
She shut her eyes and shook her head. “You – ” she was cut off by the presence of my lips pressed to hers.
She squeaked in surprise but didn't push me away. In my mind it was a victory. But still, I felt a prickling in the back of my head like something was wrong.
'Sokka.'
I broke the kiss. Why the HELL did I just think of him?! I mumbled an apology to my dream girl and dashed off.
