Author Notes: Inspired by foxykittykat’s challenge:
“Okay I wanna see a fic where Danny’s ghost half gets a mind of it’s own and falls in love with his human half. I got this from watching an episode where Danny splits himself and his ghost half wears a bed sheet as a cape. The rules are in the summary. Chapters: Oh I’d say about... 10 to 15 (if you can) and make Danny’s alterego really possessive. Okay good luck.”
Thanks foxykittykat, I’m sure I’m gonna need it...
Disclaimer: I don’t own Danny Phantom or its characters. They are property of Butch Hartman, and not me. Anything else, other names, characters, products, etc used in this fic are not mine and are property of their respectful owners. I am also making no money off this fic.
On to chapter 2 (Finally)

Chapter 2: Coming to Terms

~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Danny woke up feeling groggy, the smell and colors haunted his dreams. Feeling the urge to splash his face with water, he pulled back the blankets, but felt something on his hip. Curiously, he turned to see what it was. He was too shocked to scream when he saw his alter ego lying in his bed next to him, sleeping peacefully.
A million things went through Danny’s mind, but none of them ever made it to his mouth. He tripped over his own feet and fell to the floor, taking most of the covers with him. But the white-haired boy didn’t wake up; he shifted slightly and gave a soft groan.
“Danny? You okay? I heard a crash?” yelled his mom from downstairs.
“Y-yeah,” his voice quivered slightly. “I just fell out of bed. I’m okay now.”
“Alright, be careful,” came her reply. Danny sighed, relieved that she didn’t come up to check for herself. He pulled himself off the floor, and gave his alter ego a closer look.
He looked exactly like him, minus the hair, clothes[1] and the eyes, he guessed.
‘This is so creepy...’ he thought. ‘I mean, how many people wake up next to themselves, literary.’ Danny sighed, not loud enough to wake his other, thank goodness, ‘Maybe its just my imagination; maybe this is just a side-effect to whole the ghost-accident-thing, or maybe school’s just starting to get to me.’ He shook his head, tying to focus at the matter at hand.
Or rather, the matter sleeping quite contently in his bed.
Danny inhaled deeply, gathering his courage.
He stretched out his arm, the other boy just out of reach, and paused. ‘This is so weird ’ he silently whined. ‘I don’t wanna do this, but I know I have to ’ Danny then started to quietly curse to himself. After another deep breath, he squeezed his eyes shut and, ever so slowly, his arm crept closer to the other body.
Suddenly, the body moved. Danny jolted back, tripping over his feet for a second time and landing squarely on his ass. Green eyes slowly opened. He groaned, lightly rubbing the corners of his eyes. He remembered his dream from last night, almost too well. He could’ve sworn he could see Danny’s face. He pulled himself up on top of the soft white sheets.
Wait... he never slept on white sheets. Not even sheets for this matter. Frantically, he scanned the room. It was lit and there were walls. He was tempted to say something cliche like, “I don’t think I’m in Kansas anymore,” but resisted the urge. His breathing raced into pants, but when he saw Danny on the floor, eyes wide and mouth open, he froze, and everything started to come together. Well, sort of.
The two stared at each other for a while, neither moving an inch. Finally, green eyes blinked and stuttered, “D-Danny?”
Danny swallowed hard, “Y-yeah?”
“What the hell is going on?” Green eyes laced with doubt kept scanning the room.
“I-I don’t know...” the dark haired boy said with a shaky voice. Danny lowered his head and closed his eyes, focusing on controlling his breathing. He didn’t want to hyperventilate and die and at such a young age. Then again, most anyone else would hyperventilate if this happened to them. (‘This is not the life for the weak-hearted,’ Danny sighed to himself. ‘If I was older, surly I would’ve died from a heart attack when this whole thing started.’) He heard his bed squeak, but shook it off as the other just readjusting himself. Danny was shocked to find the other’s hands on the sides of his face. Hesitantly, he looked up, right into bright green eyes. Danny’s face immediately flushed. When he saw Danny cheeks turn pink, his own did the same. Danny’s mouth opened but failed to say anything. The other swallowed hard and forced himself to sigh. His hands dropped to Danny’s shoulders.
“W-wha-?” Danny managed to stammer out, fearing the worst, which he had no idea what ‘the worst’ exactly was.[2]
“I just wanted to make sure this was real,” the other stated. “...this time...” he added softly so that only he could hear.
“Well... I’m real, and so are you... I guess,” Danny shrugged with uncertainty.
“Yeah...” he said. ‘I am real, here with Danny,’ Green eyes slowly blinked and a smile crept to his lips. He was woken from his bliss with an uneasy sounding “Um...” He snapped back to reality, noticing Danny’s face still tinted pink. “Ah ” he yelped and quickly pulled his arms back. Danny turned his head to look away, placing one hand where his alter ego’s was just a moment before. The white haired youth felt a twinge of regret, but instead put on a goofy grin and said, “Well, I am kinda new to the whole ‘interacting with others’ thing.”
Danny smirked, giving him a sideways glare, “Do you do this to everyone you meet?”
Green eyes turned to the ceiling, “Actually, you’re the first, so yeah. I do.” The pair tried to hold back their laugher, but their will power was slowly failing. It was Danny who broke put first, shortly followed by his alter ego.[3]

In the rest of the house, Jazz heard her brother laughing like a loon. Sure, she wanted to check up on him; it was the sisterly thing to do, but she didn’t want to leave her novel. She sighed and shook her head; she’d ask him later when he got out of bed.[4]

Once Danny could breathe again, he said, “Aw man.” and shook his head. “But seriously, how did this happen?”
The other’s expression changed drastically, “I really don’t know.”
Danny sighed heavily, “Well yesterday, this creepy lady poured powder on me that smelled like...” he tried to think of the right word, “like bath soaps.” At that moment, his green eyes widened and his breath stopped in his throat. Danny continued, “And just before I fell asleep, I saw these weird colors and that smell came back.” He shook his head again, “Oh well... did anything weird happen to you?”
Of course he would never tell Danny that he dreamed of him last night; a dream where he was ravishing Danny’s body as it was bound to a bed. He’d rather die than mention one word of it. “W-well...” he started off in a shaky voice, “um, just before I woke up, I smelled the same thing.”
Danny raised an eyebrow, “Do you remember anything before that?”
‘Oh God yes ’ he screamed in his mind. ‘You were so beautiful and kind. I could never forget; I never want to forget ’[5] His eyes were squeezed shut, holding back tears. He took a moment to regain his composure before simply stating, “No.”
Danny had mixed emotions when he saw his alter ego’s face contort, obviously hiding something. He crept forward, his hand just barely touching the other’s shoulder. Emerald eyes snapped open, gazing into concerned blue.
“It’s nothing; don’t worry about it,” the ghost said defensively.
Danny mentally sighed; he knew something was going on, but his alter ego didn’t want to talk, so he let it slide, for now...
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“What can I call you?” Danny asked, after pulling his shirt on.
“Hmm?” the ghost said absent-mindedly. He really wasn’t listening; he was more focused on not focusing on Danny’s incredibly sexy body. Now that was a challenge which he failed. No flab or loose skin but not “ripped” and lined with muscle, but a perfect balance in between; taut and lean, just the way he always imagined, if not better. His saliva started to pool in his mouth as he dazed about the heavenly body that started staring back at him, questioningly.[6]
“Are you even listening to me? Hey! Wake up!” But to no avail. Danny started to get frustrated. ‘Great,’ he smiled sarcastically as he thought, ‘he’s ignoring himself. Probably thinking about some girl in the ghost zone.’ He sighed aloud, “Why am I such a perv?”
The ghost boy did hear that last bit; his ears perked and both his eyebrows rose. After opening his mouth for half a second, he finally asked, “What did you say?”
Danny mentally slapped himself, “That... didn’t come out right.”[7] He sighed loudly, “But now that you’re actually listening to me, I have a question for you.” The white haired boy nodded, giving 100% of his full, undivided attention to Danny. Although some of that focus went to scanning the youth’s body once again. He blinked hard, telling himself to focus on Danny’s words, not his body, just for a little bit.
“You and I, we have no idea how you got here, right?”
“Yes,”
“And we have no idea how to undo this, right?”
“Yes,” He silently hoped that they never would.
“So, what are we gonna do?”
“... I don’t know.”
They stayed there, quiet for a few awkward moments, until Danny broke the silence with a sigh. “Well, I’m sure it’s gonna take a while, but until then, what can I call you? Do you have a name?”
The ghost boy was slightly shocked by the question. He wasn’t completely stunned because he knew it would be asked sooner or later. He was shocked because he had no answer for it. He had no reason for a name; he was always alone. Even if he did have one, he would have long since forgotten it with time. He secretly admired Danny’s name; Danny, Daniel, it just rolled off the tongue. He wanted a name like that. A name that Danny would cry out in the midst of his lust. Again, he was on the verge of drooling.[8]
Danny could tell his other half[9] didn’t have a name, but he assumed that he was thinking of one. The seconds went by, and he was surprised to see green eyes haze over as the other started staring off into space. Danny hesitated, but spoke up, “Um, you okay?” breaking his alter ego’s line of concentration. He snapped back to reality, and wiped the side of his mouth with his glove. “Sorry,” was all he could manage to say.
“Have you thought of a name yet?” When his alter ego didn’t answer right away, he was about to say, ‘If you haven’t, it’s okay. I can wait until you’ve thought of one,’ but the ghost boy cut him off just before.
“Dan,” he said, acting on impulse. “Just Dan.”
“Alright... Dan.” Danny said with a smirk. ‘Dan’ blushed slightly, his remark finally sinking in. It wasn’t as perfect as Danny, but it’ll do. He smiled back, almost breaking out into laughter.
It was a good thing he didn’t.
There was a loud knock on Danny’s door. The pair froze, both refusing to make a sound. Danny’s wide blue eyes seemed to shout, “Crap, you gotta get outta here and FAST!” Dan nodded slightly and went invisible, and hid on the other side of the wall; just in case, you know?[10]
Jazz opened the door and peered inside, one hand clutching a phone. She had come here on a mission. Actually two; one, to tell Danny he had a phone call, and secondly to check up on him as she told herself earlier. Nothing different with his room; it was still messy and unkept as always, and no people. He probably was just taking to himself... or maybe she was hearing things.
“Jazz, what are you doing?” Danny calmly asked.
“Phone’s for you,” she handed over the phone before taking one last glance and leaving with a shrug, closing the door behind her.
“What was that about?” Danny asked aloud. He shrugged and put the phone to his ear, “Hello?”
“Yo Danny! Whatcha up to?” Tucker’s voice said.
“Anything happen last night?” Sam asked before Danny could reply.
Danny sighed with a grin, “You have no idea.”
“What are you taking about?” Tucker questioned.
“I can’t explain it right now; I think you better come over and take a look for yourselves.” This was Dan’s cue that it was okay for him to come back out. He turned tangible just above the bed and landed with a slight ‘uumph.’ Danny chuckled, “If I told you right now, you’d probably think I was crazy.”
“Dude,” Tucker said, “We’ve been with you this long and we still don’t think you’re crazy. Isn’t that right Sam?”
“Of course,” Sam answered. “Trust me, it would have to be pretty strange to scare us away.”
“Well, this is pretty strange.”
“Don’t worry; we’ll be over there in a bit.” Sam replied. “See ya soon Danny.”
“Yeah, be right over there.” Tucker said, just before hanging up.
Danny hung up the phone and sat on the corner of his bed, near his alter ego’s feet. “How freaked out do you think they’ll be?” Danny asked, a smirk on his lips.
Dan grinned back, “Very.”
