Bright morning sun wakes her, causing her to blink in confusion. She sits up, glancing around the room and realizing she’s alone. At some point Puck had left her without a word. Then it hits her, it wasn’t Puck’s name she called out as she orgasmed, it was Owen’s. She lowers her head into her hands and nearly cries from embarrassment. The phone ringing breaks her from her thoughts and she sighs heavily. “Hello?”
“Eve, it’s Fox. I wanted to know how last night went.” He heart plummets as she hears Fox’s voice on the other end. “Um, ok I guess.” She mumbles. “What’s wrong?” Fox quickly sounds worried. “Did something happen?” “Yes but not to Xander.” She glances at the clock to see it click to 11 am. “I’d rather not talk about it over the phone. Can we have lunch?” “Of course. Come over and I’ll have everything ready.” Fox reassure her. “Thanks.” She sighs. “I’ll be there in 15 min.” She hangs up and looks around the room one more time before heading to the bedroom to change. She walks into the study to find Fox already there with a tray of sandwiches on the table next to her. Fox looks her over with a critical eye as Eve sits down and pours a cup of chai. “Ok. Tell me what happened.” “I fucked up, Fox.” Tears well up in her eyes. “I screwed up whatever Owen and I might have with a one night stand.” Fox frowns and leans towards her, patting her leg. “Tell me everything.” Eve tells her about meeting Puck and how they had ended up in her apartment alone. She wipes her eyes and takes a sip before continuing on with how it was Owen’s name she had called out and that Puck had left before she woke. Fox nearly laughs at the irony of the situation but tries to hide it. “So you had sex with Puck but called out Owen’s name. All in all, I think you’ll be ok, It explains why Owen’s brooding in the solarium this morning.” “You think he knows?” Eve nearly drops her cup in fear. Fox smiles warmly and gently takes the cup from her hand. “Oh he knows but don’t worry about it. Go talk to him and it will all work out.” “Are you sure?” She edges off the chair, anxious about talking to him. “I’m sure.” Fox shoos her out.” “Go.” She bites her lips as Eve quickly leaves, trying not to snicker. As soon as the door closes, she grins and chuckles. “Oh to be a fly on the wall when he explains himself!” Eve stops at the door to the solarium, her nerves almost getting the better of her. She closes her eyes, breathing slowly to calm herself before she steps inside. She quietly opens the door and walks down the path, glancing around nervously for him. When she finally sees him, he is sitting on the grass next to the bench she usually sits at. His brow furrowed in thought, he doesn’t see her until she is nearly next to him. He looks up, expression closing. “Eve.” That one word said without emotion crushes her and she sits down heavily on the bench. “I am so sorry. I screwed up everything.” He sighs heavily, getting to his knees to lean against hers, wiping the tears from her face. “I’m the one who should be sorry. We should’ve had this talk ages ago.” She glances up at him before quickly looking away, ashamed. “You’re not the one who had a one night stand.” She wipes the tears away, biting her lip in frustration. “I understand if you can’t forgive me.” He cups her chin, lifting it so he can look in her eyes. “Darling, Eve, I forgive you.” He brushes his thumb across her lips. “Although I must say it was amusing to her this name falling from your lips when you orgasmed instead of my real one.” Seeing her confusion, he smiles weakly. “Kitten, I’m Puck.” “What?” Her whole body stills, pieces of what he has said in the past finally falling into place. “I’m Puck.” He gently strokes her face. “I should’ve told you before now.” “Show me.” She blinks back the tears. “As you wish.” He sits back on his heels and changes. She reaches out a hand, touching his face in disbelief. “Why? Why didn’t you tell me last night when we left the banquet? You could’ve told me when we got back here.” He leans away from her, curling his legs in front of him and clasping them with his arms around them. “500 years ago I told the last woman I fell for. It didn’t go very well.” She bites her lip, trying to take everything in. “What happened?” “She called me a demon, tried to capture me with iron, and have me killed!” He growls angrily. He sees her recoil away and closes his eyes, trying to calm down. “How did I know you wouldn’t do the same?” She slides off the bench, taking his face in her hands. “Because I’m not her and I don’t judge people so harshly. Can you give me time to wrap my brain around this?” He takes her hand and kisses her palm in acceptance. “Besides, if you can handle me having an affair on you with your other self, I think I can handle one man in two bodies.” He laughs. “It is a bit complicated, isn’t it?” “Yeah, a little.” She leans forward, kissing him softly. She feels him change back to Owen as they kiss, his arms pulling her closer. When she opens her eyes, she sees Owen staring back at her. “If you do that too often, I may get confused.” She teases him. He strokes her cheek. “I may not be able to help myself the next time you call out the wrong name.” He growls back teasingly and pushes her back, pinning her to the ground. “I won’t be held liable for my actions when you do.” He kisses her roughly, possessively claiming her. She moans against him, pulling him closer to her. Her nails dig down his back as he nips at her neck. She winches in pain as he squeezes her breast and he pulls away, staring at her in shock. “Sorry. A little sore from last night.” She nips at his chin, chuckling. “Not your fault though. It’s been a while.” He softens his caresses. “For me as well. I didn’t realize I was being that enthusiastic last night. How sore are you?” “Sore enough that sitting down is a challenge” She grins “but not sore enough to not want more.” He growls, nipping her neck again. “Vixen!” With a sigh, he pushes to his feet and holds out a hand for her. “I am too much of a gentleman to take advantage of a woman who is not 100% up to the task so I will give you a reprieve for the day.” She grins; stroking him through his pants and feeling him begin to harden. “What if I don’t want one?” He pulls her hand away, kissing it as he stares into her eyes. “Do not test my resolve.” She pouts at him and he spins her around, smacking her ass to get her moving. “Off with you. Go home and rest. I will come see you this evening while I’m patrolling.” She grins, swaying her hips as she walks away. “I’ll be sure to wear something completely inappropriate when you arrive.” Eve sees Xander standing by the elevators, talking to Fox, as she approaches. David stands a few feet away, watching them warily. With an evil grin, she speeds up her pace. Just as she gets to Xander, she reaches out a hand and smacks him hard on the back of the head. He spins around, glaring. “What was that for?” “That was for last night.” She growls back. “And that is mild compared to what is coming when he gets a hold of you.” Xander pales, as Fox laughs at his predicament. “Everything ok?” Fox winks at her. Eve grins, winking back. “For me it is.” She punches the button, calling the elevator, and points at Xander. “But for this pesky child? Not so much.” Fox narrows her gaze at her son. “I’m sure his Uncle will make sure he works twice as hard during his lessons tonight.” “Good.” She steps into the elevator, watching Xander’s eyes widen further in fear. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
