With the shopping done and behind them, Tee-Lara chose a very posh vegetarian restaurant which was quite unusual to see in the Siberian neighborhood.
"A veggie place? What gives? I thought greens gave tigers a sore belly...Wait...you do know there is no meat in here? Nothing that screams as you bite into it..." Schwenk teased.
"I know that silly...they also serve fish...I was actually thinking of you, Gaston...I thought you would like it."
"I was only teasing....don't pout...the wind will change and you'll stay like it..."
She giggled. "So we'll eat here?"
"We shall...yes..." he kissed her cheek.
They entered the restaurant only to be greeted by a snooty looking Siberian who frowned upon seeing Schwenk. "We don't serve his kind here..."
"Oh...good, I don't like eating human, a bit like cannibalism...I'd rather have fish, actually!" he replied flatly.
The Siberian blinked. "Oh excuse me...you mean you aren't here to be served-- meaning cooked for this tigress?"
"Oh ha ha...I thought this was a veggie joint!" he said sourly. "Clearly we've stumbled into a cheap comedy joint!"
"Please accept my humble apologies sir...madam...This way...I will show you to one of our best tables in the house." Tee-Lara covered her mouth trying to hide her grin.
Schwenk rolled his eyes comedically. "The food better be good!!" he whispered to Tee-Lara.
She squeezed his hand. "I think they will go all out especially for you Gaston." The tigress whispered back. Sure enough the table they were shown to had a clear view of the entire restaurant and was next to a multicoloured fountain. "Oh how lovely!" Tee-Lara breathed; the Siberian pulled her chair out. "I will bring you a bottle of champagne which will be on the house." The maitre d' gave a gracious bow and quickly exited.
"Why is he being so nice??" Schwenk asked Tee.
"He insulted you Gaston...so by way of an apology, he is being nice."
"So wait...how often would a Siberian female bring in a male human to be butchered, eaten??
"I don't know...Does it really matter?" Tee-Lara settled back in her chair and sighed happily enjoying the soft music from the band that was playing...
************************************************************** Over in the far corner of the restaurant, Argo watched the couple. The maitre d' approached the Tiglon having been waved over by him, “Yes sir?”"Give them whatever they want...I will foot the bill."
“As you wish sir…” The waiter acknowledged.
************************************************************************************ "It does, for my curiosity.” Schwenk grumbled. “Does it happen? That living humans are literally taken to dinner?"The tigress frowned. "All right Gaston...I will answer your question. Yes, it is not uncommon for a Siberian albeit male or female to carry a human with them to a restaurant for the sole purpose of being...prepared for eating."
"...and they willingly go along? Why? I'd resist at every opportunity because, no offence, I'm allergic to ingestion..."
"Usually the human is unconscious, drugged, or...dead. It is highly unusual to see one voluntarily walk into a restaurant under their own steam." Tee-Lara glanced down at her hands. "Now you understand the reason why I didn't take you to a meat serving restaurant. Although I assure you I have never ever eaten human meat."
"It doesn't bother me if you have...I've learnt that if I voluntary play with kitties I can expect them to have tried the long pig...You sure you haven't? No disrespect, but you've come from a high class family and they can't get enough of humans..."
"I'll admit I have been tempted...But never touched one..."
"Well, in bed, if you fancy a nibble..." he winked.
She blushed. "I always fancy having a bite from my human...You owe me dessert."
"I do? Why's that then?"
Tee-Lara giggled. "A promise is a promise...You promised me dessert." The Siberian came over carrying a tray of chilled champagne, fluted glasses, and menus. He poured a glass for Schwenk and Tee-Lara then handed over the menus. "I have been advised to tell you to order whatever your heart's desire as the bill will be taken care of."
"Erm...by whom??" Schwenk was confused.
"…By the gentleman sitting over there in the far corner of the restaurant." The maitre d' saluted and left.
Schwenk looked over and his heart sank. "Arsehole!" he mouthed then turned back to his Siberian.
"Gaston, who would foot the bill for us?" Tee-Lara asked curiously glancing over at the far corner of the restaurant; she saw an incredibly tall he-cat wearing dark shades, hat, and an expensive suit--he raised a glass to her. "Who is that?" She asked nodding toward the feline.
"An arsehole who is intent on following me..." he said through gritted teeth.
Tee-Lara placed her hand over Schwenk's own not understanding his anger. "Why would he want to follow you?"
"Long story, hun....long and it would spoil the meal...."
"Okay..." She said picking up her menu. "I don't want our evening spoiled...I am having too much of a good time being out with you. I am going to order the most expensive item I can find."
He chuckled. "I've already found an expensive item..."
Tee-Lara lovingly squeezed her mate's hand.
He smiled. "I'm going to have the fresh garden salad..."
"Garden salad? Is that it? Well, I will try the three fish Mediterranean salad with grass greens."
"OK, we'll wait for the waiter and order then..."
The Siberian returned to the table. "Are you ready?”
"Yes please..." Schwenk rattled off the order. "...and with respects, I'm paying for dinner...you can tell that gent he can shove his menu up his arse....sideways!"
The tiger’s amber eyes opened wide. “This is a respectful establishment sir; I will not relay that message to the esteemed gentlemen seeing as how this restaurant belongs to him.”
"WHAT!!" Schwenk stood but then saw the look of concern on Tee's face. "Well.....erm..." he sat back down. "Fine....just the food please..."
The waiter bowed, “Very good sir.” and left.
Tee-Lara frowned. “What is going on Gaston? Is everything all right?”
"It's OK, hun...sorry about that..." he sipped his champagne.
She picked up her fluted glass. “No toast?”
"Oh gosh..." he raised his glass. "To you and I....more flawless than a diamond..."
“To us...” The tigress clinked her glass with Schwenk; she watched the human curiously confused by his agitated state.
"Nice place...busy isn't it...?"
“Well...it is a popular place here in the city...Gaston...please relax. You’re making me jittery.”
"Oh...yeah....right..." Schwenk gave a nervous smile. "Who'd have thought that a veggie place would be so popular...here, of all places..."
“More and more Siberians are becoming vegetarians.” She smiled. “Wonderful isn’t it? I might consider becoming one myself.”
"Really?" he frowned.
“Sure...or I could become a quasi-vegetarian and eat meats on the weekend!” The tigress laughed.
"You stay my little...well...big meat eater...look at those lovely teeth....designed for more than just carrot worrying!"
“Yeah my teeth are more suited to tearing and ripping meat...I could wind up with dental problems if I go completely vegetarian.” She sipped a little more of the champagne.
"Then don't...you eat as much meat as you like...you hear me..." he reassured.
“Okay...” Tee-Lara glanced over at the mysterious stranger in the corner. “Why does that man seem so familiar to me...I’m sure I have seen him somewhere before...”
"Who? Him? Erm...not really sure..."
“I wish he would remove those dark shades and hat.”
"Hmmm...Not much chance of that I suppose..."
“Why is he watching us Gaston?”
"Is he? I...hadn't noticed..." Schwenk replied. "So...erm...has your family always lived here?"
The tigress turned focusing on her mate’s grey eyes. “Yes...pretty much...They wanted to be in a community that was exclusively for Siberians.”
"Why's that then?"
She shrugged. “What can I say except that they’re proud...Why do the Sh’iars remain within their own community? They’re proud.”
"Arrogant, actually!" he corrected.
“Excuse me arrogant and proud...that pretty much describes my folks too.”
"At least they're not homicidal maniacs..." Schwenk grinned.
“Yes...you’ve got a point there.” Tee-Lara tilted her head. “Crys was saying that Sh’iars are that way because of genetic breeding...I wonder how true that really is?”"Who know....maybe some truth, fact is though...I think they enjoy it; enjoy the dominance over all..."
“But don’t you think that Crys is slightly different from the others?”
"Worse, you mean? Not sure...how many other Sh’iar females have you met?"
Tee-Lara gave a sheepish grin. “Actually Crys is the first...I haven’t met any others.”
"Well...not sure I want to meet any more....ever!"
********************************************************* Argo was growing bored eavesdropping on Schwenk and Tee-Lara’s conversation; he had heard nothing of interest. The Tiglon rose and left to go stand outside on the outdoor terrace. ********************************************************** "You know what....we should get our own place..."“Do you really mean that?” Tee-Lara asked happily. “What about you and Lumar? He’s quite close to you.”
"Hmph....not at the moment...plus...she's there...."
“We would have more privacy...When Gaston? When were you thinking of finding our own place?”
"Well...that depends on money and availability..."
The tigress seized Schwenk’s hands. “I have money saved up...and you have your work...I too will be working soon...Plus I guess I could ask around...This is wonderful!”
"OK..." he smiled, pleased by her enthusiasm. "But where...where should we look?"
“Where do you want to live? Anywhere you decide, I will follow.”
He smiled kindly. "You choose..."
She shrugged then hesitated. “Would you mind if we perhaps found a place near my folks?”
"Little Siberia?" he raised an eyebrow.
“Oh no...” The tigress replied laughing. “Have you heard of Tiger Town? It is a very nice place close to Little Siberia.”
"Tiger Town...for a human that sounds scary..." Schwenk smiled.
“It shouldn’t bother you too much since you were living with a Bengalian.”
"True, but don't forget...I have his undying loyalty and protection..."
“Will you continue to have that undying loyalty and protection once you give Lumar the news you’re moving out?” Tee-Lara mused.
"Hmmm....don't remind me...."
“How will he react? Have you given much thought to that?”
"What choice do I have.....really?"
“Are you moving because you want to or are you worried about what Crys will do to you?” The tigress asked.
"Both..." he replied honestly.
“Gaston...you know I love you with all of my heart...But somehow I feel you are...hiding something from me...Why does Crys hate you so much?”
"Let's not talk about this....please..." he replied softly.
She nodded. “All right...” The maitre d’ returned with their order of food and placed it in front of the couple. “Enjoy your meal.”
