Lumar went into the bedroom quickly looked around and then exited deciding to sit in the living room disappointed that his woman, Crys wasn't home...It didn't seem as though she had returned. He lay the roses aside and sulked unhappily.
"Tee? Are you around?" Schwenk called out optimistically.
Tee-Lara's head popped up immediately and beamed at Schwenk over the mattress, she was kneeling on the floor. "Hi honey you're home early!"
"I know...just couldn't be apart from you for so long..." he produced the carnations.
She immediately got up squealing with elation upon seeing the bouquet; Schwenk couldn't help but notice that the tigress was covered in dust bunnies and dirt. "Are those for me?" She gushed. "They're beautiful!" Tee-Lara seized the flowers and held them to her nose inhaling deeply.
"Anything for you!" he nodded. "Erm....you been cleaning?"
The tigress nodded. "Yes...after Crys and I had a long talk I told her it would be nice to do something for our men...I'm cleaning and she went out to buy ingredients for something she's preparing for Lumar. Oh Gaston...how thoughtful...these are truly beautiful...thank you!"
Schwenk smiled. "So who is cooking?"
"Crys is...you didn't see her out there?"
"No...I don't think she is...Lumar has the huff again because she's not here..."
"Well he shouldn't be...Crys isn't back yet from shopping!" Tee-Lara took a hold of Schwenk's arm. "Come with me...I'll tell him myself."
"OK..." he sighed and followed willingly; knowing Lumar would take it better from a clan sibling.
The Beni looked up noticing Tee-Lara and Schwenk; she stood before the tiger. "Lumar, wipe that dour expression from your face, Crys did come back earlier...It's just that she went out shopping and hasn't returned. She will be here."
"See?" Schwenk added to Lumar. "All that worry for nothing, those won't go to waste..."
The tigress gasped eyeballing the wrapped red roses. "Are those for Crys? She will absolutely adore them!"
"Ha..."Schwenk beamed. "Never doubt a human..." he gently elbowed Lumar in the ribs.
"I hope she does..." The Beni sighed. "I also wish she would hurry up and come home...We have a lot of things to discuss."
Tee-Lara raised an eyebrow. "Yes and I believe she has a lot to discuss with you as well...I'm going to put these in water."
Schwenk gave Lumar a look. "What did that mean?" he asked.
The tiger shrugged. "Damned if I would know...Did you tell Tee-Lara the carnations were from me?"
"Erm....well....I kind of said they were from...me..." he blushed.
"Why am I not surprised?" Lumar replied. "Anyway, if you did, I'm not angry...As long as she liked them."
"Oh she did and Crys will LOVE the roses...Trust me..."
It wasn't long afterward that they heard the front door open and the two she-cats were chatting in the kitchen.
"See, Lumar...you were worrying about nothing...As per usual..."
Tee-Lara came bustling out carrying her carnations that she had placed in a vase; she gave Schwenk a poignant look. "Can you help me in the bedroom Gaston...like right now?"
"Erm...oh yeah, sure..." the penny dropped, "Good luck, bro..."
"Thanks Schwenk...I need it." Lumar watched his brother and the tigress quickly vacate closing their bedroom door; he sat waiting for Crys to appear. She came out and actually smiled seeing the tiger. Lumar was quite pleased by the way the she-cat looked with her mane smartly pinned up away from her face. "I didn't expect that you would be home early..." She commented. "How was your day?"
"Not too bad, thanks...I...I brought you some flowers....I hope you might like them..." he held out the roses.
"They're...gorgeous!" Crys breathed totally taken aback; she took the flowers. "...And blood red...my favourite colour...thank you Lumar." She kissed the tiger on his cheek. "I love...them..."
"I'm glad you like them...I...I think I owe you an apology..."
"For what?"
"The way I've spoken to you, and made you feel....oh....I'm sorry for Schwenk too....he can be an ass at times..."
She frowned. "That human is an idiot..." Crys sat beside Lumar and took a deep breath. "I...I owe you an apology as well...Lumar...as Tee-Lara pointed out to me...we've got to talk."
"Yes..." he said eagerly. "Please...I want to do whatever is necessary to make this work..."
The she-cat nodded. "I've been out all night at the Temple of the Phoenix praying for guidance...to understand what I should do..." Crys gazed up at the huge Bengalian. "I am prepared to leave...if that is what you want."
"WHAT??? NO....no, please...don't leave..." Lumar practically begged. "I want you to stay with me...what must I do??"
She gave him a surprised look. "You...actually want me to remain with you? I...I thought that with everything you would be happy to see the back of me."
"Not one bit of it....why did you think that?"
"From what Schwenk said to me...he said some horrible things...got me upset which is why I left the flat."
"I'm so sorry...I'll do anything to make you happy..."
"I would like to learn more about you." Crys replied. "...and in turn...I will tell you more about myself...I guess that's what’s important for any relationship to work."
"Yes...you're right...amazingly Schwenk understands that a lot better than me..."
"Then I take it this is your first real relationship? I'll admit it is for me as well."
"It is, yes....my life was previously chaotic...the only person I shared my bed with was Gaston..." he nodded.
The Sh’iar warrior waggled her eyebrow. "'Shared your bed with'? Quite an interesting choice of words."
"It is literal...Schwenk moved me into his small home...he only had one bed. He may be an ass...but he saved my life..."
"I still find that difficult to believe that hairless monkey actually has a heart." She muttered; Crys caressed the rose petals. "Your life previous to meeting Schwenk was that bad?"
"Very. I was tormented, bullied, beaten...I lived on the streets, begging for scraps and eating a rat whenever I was lucky. I was skin and bone..."
"Oh...Lumie...that's horrible." The she-cat really meant it; she took his large hand in hers. "Mine wasn't exactly a bed of..." Crys had a tiny smile on her face, "roses either being raised as a Sh'iar."
"I've heard stories...about the Spartan way of life...but...you don't have to talk about it if it's too difficult..."
She shrugged. "When I explain you'll understand why I am this way...My mother was...a ThunderCat noble...she was King Claudus' sister kidnapped by the Sh'iars, my father actually..."
"Kidnapped? Kidnapped to bear children?" his brow furrowed.
"No...Not originally...She was kidnapped as vengeance to teach Lion-O's father a lesson...not to fuck with the Sh'iars or else face the consequences. You know what? Claudus, the coward didn't do anything to get his sister back! My father although he was already mated to a Sh'iar warrior--Pandora's mother--he claimed my mother, Leona for himself thus disgracing his Sh'iar wife."
He shook his head. "It's all so political...I can't say I understand it all, but...the Sh’iar seem so angry with the world...What do the Sh’iars want? What would a Sh’iar run world look like?"
"It would be Hell...That would be the ideal Sh'iar world. We weren't originally created to be extreme warmongers...genetic breeding brought out the worst aspect in us." Crys sighed. "Our priests and priestess do their best to tame our lust for destruction and chaos."
"So why not just leave...turn your back on their ways..." he almost pleaded.
"It's not...easy for me...Lumar you have to understand...it is ingrained into my nature. Hate consumes my soul...everything I have ever loved or cared for was taken away from me."
"But can you learn to love? Love me?"
Crys couldn't meet Lumar's eyes; his question though did touch her on a deeper level. She ever so slowly raised her eyes to meet his pleading green ones--she swallowed feeling a lump in her throat. Could she love this he-cat? She had thought she was in love with Argo once not long ago..."Yes..." Crys was shocked by her answer. "...I...I do...I do actually...lo..." She got up abruptly.
"Wha....what's wrong..." Lumar also stood. "I'm sorry...I said too much...came on too strong..."
"No..." Crys shook her head. "It's not that...I'm...afraid...I'm afraid to confess how I feel for you..." Hot stinging tears sprang from her eyes. "For me to confess I'm in love shows there is a weakness, a flaw in my character! Warriors c-can't love!"
"Shhh...." he embraced her. "Then don't say a word....it's OK..." he said softly… Serenely.
"Lumar...it's not okay...you’ll think me weak!"
"Weak? Absolutely not!!" he snorted. "You are a very strong woman...the strongest I've met..."
She pulled away and peered up at his face. "You think so?" Crys wrapped her arms around the tiger's neck burying her face in his chest. "I...I...love...you." She confessed.
He nuzzled her neck. "Want to have a lie in bed with me?"
The she-cat nodded. "But I'm not going to stop setting fires!" Crys added defiantly.
"What is that all about?" he held her hand and they walked towards the bedroom.
"You can't change me completely!" Crys stubbornly pouted. "Don't think for one iota of a second that you have converted me!"
"Heavens forbid..." he nodded. He got to the bed and undressed. He then lay out on the bed and stretched and yawned. He patted the bed next to him.
Crys climbed on the mattress beside the tiger. "You're assuming quite a lot here..." She grinned running her hand over his taut well-muscled 12-pack.
"I've assumed nothing...I'm only offering a place next to me...as equals..."
"You're not going to try anything?" She asked suspiciously; Crys stretched out beside Lumar.
"Only if invited to, and then I wouldn't try anything...I'd be all action..." he nodded firmly.
The she-cat snuggled closer to the Beni feeling comfortable, safe, and relaxed. "I appreciate that...thank you Lumie."
