"What was all that about??" he asked the big Bengalian tiger.
Lumar frowned. "I hate to think that Crys was somehow responsible."
"Lumar....she is oh so guilty and you know it!"
The tiger growled. "Let's change the subject...you owe me for saving your hide."
"Let's call it evens...."
"I don't know about that..."
"Well I do so stop your jibber jabber..."
"You know what I mean." The Beni growled towering over Schwenk. "I got Lion-O to hire your woman despite the fact that I don't like her...You can be nicer to Crys...YOU OWE ME!"
"She's burning things down!! Wake up, Lumar....please...."
"You don't think I know that already...I'm not dumb." Lumar wistfully sighed. "She's doing that because she is angry."
“Maybe..." he shrugged. "But who is she angry with?"
"Isn't it obvious? Think about it Schwenk...I think she is angry with both Lion-O and Argo...the way she is being treated. Just be glad she hasn't burned our apartment down."
He pondered this for a moment. "OK, OK...even if I was to be nice to her, and trust her...what then...she despises me..."
The tiger scratched his arm. "Well...you haven't been very nice to her--what do you expect?"
"Can you remember why we came into contact with her?"
"Yeah...because of what you did to the priest."
"Hmmm...So why would I try and be her best friend?? How long before I'm dead and skinned like Teegara? The only thing keeping her in check was Argo! Look what has happened with that relationship...we're in danger, we have no safety net now..."
Lumar blinked. "But she is fine with me...at least she is softening up around me. I don't think I'm in danger from her."
"Really? Lumar...she's a trained warrior...she may...may be softening you up...or...turning you against me!"
"NO--NEVER!" The Beni shouted. "Don't even think that Schwenk!"
He backed away. "You sure...you've been very angry with me recently..."
"Y-yes...yes I have been very angry with you Schwenk...There are times you have made me feel abandoned since you've taken up with that tigress...You're always with her...When I want to talk or even spar with you--you're BUSY with HER! Why shouldn't I be upset? Tee-Lara has taken you away from me...my tiger brother has other interests."
"That's life!! I'm not your bitch...not there for your beck and call always..." he snapped back.
"Well...I'm jealous of what you have." The tiger shot back.
"Why? You can have anyone!
“You know I just don't want anyone...I want Crystalandra...my heart belongs to her and her only."
"It may be a doomed love though.....you know that, you're not thick!"
"HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT?!" Lumar wailed. "There you go again hurling disparaging remarks at me...no wonder I'm so mixed-up."
"You weren't mixed up when you and me were together!"
The big cat's ears flattened against his skull. "When we were together there was no Tee-Lara in the picture...Come on Schwenk can't you just for once give me words of encouragement? Make a suggestion how to win Crys over? My heart burns for her."
Schwenk became angry and jabbed his finger in Lumar's ribs again and again. "NO!! Tee-Lara never says one word against you...she backs you up again and again...if anything she has broken the ice between you and Crys! So don't you FUCKING dare blame her!! She's a better woman now than Crys was when she was a baby!!!"
Lumar bared his formidable canines at Schwenk. "How can you stand there and tell me that Tee-Lara is a better woman than Crys? You of all people know nothing about Crys--ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! But you have the nerve to stand there and lecture me on Tee-Lara's merits? SHE WAS A WHORE...YOUR WOMAN WAS A WHORE!"
Schwenk reacted and...back-handed Lumar. "You went too far..." he said coldly.
"The truth hurts doesn't it?" The tiger snarled extending his razor sharp claws. "You want to try doing that again?!"
"No....I'll do this...I'll walk away....we are no longer brothers...enjoy Crys...she's all you have now!" he said quietly.
Lumar straightened. "Schwenk...wait...Please...I'm sorry...I-I was out of place...I humbly beg your forgiveness." The tiger ran to the human and knelt before him. "Please...I'm sorry."
"You've bared your teeth to me the last time!! You only do that to enemies....well fine...you have your wish. And as an aside...I am expecting Crys to kill me...she has orders..."
Lumar seized Schwenk in a bear hug and buried his face in the human's chest. "Brother...PLEASE...What can I do in order for you to forgive me! I am SORRY!"
"Lose the Sh’iar warrior!"
The tiger raised his head; his eyes were filled with pain hearing the demand being made upon him. "Give her up?" He asked.
"Yes..." Schwenk said coldly.
Lumar gulped. "All right..." He said quietly. "I-I'll give her up...I will give her up for you Schwenk."
"Good boy...." this time he hugged Lumar sincerely, "You've just saved all of our lives..."
The tiger shrugged and disengaged himself from Schwenk; he stood but the fire had been extinguished from his eyes...his soul. "Yeah...great."
Lion-O returned with a huge smile on his face. "Sorry about that boys--are we ready for a relaxing sauna?"
Schwenk spoke first. "My Lord may Lumar and I have a few minutes more, please..."
"Of course!" The young Lord replied. "Go ahead and take as much time as you need, when you are finished just meet me in the sauna room." He left with his entourage of lionesses.
Schwenk sat down and puffed his cheeks. "I...I...I can't ask you to give her up..." he sagged.
Lumar turned a wary eye on his tiger brother. "But you just asked me to...You said if we were to remain brothers I would have to..."
"And destroy who you are? I cannot..."
"Does that mean...I...can remain with her?" The Beni asked tentatively kneeling in front of Schwenk.
"Yes... but we need to stay safe..."
Lumar grinned and grabbing Schwenk's hand, he kissed it basically slobbering copious gobs of saliva all over it. "I'll ensure your safety! Don't worry about it at all!"
"How?" came the simple, unemotional reply.
"I think it is time for me and Crys to sit down and have a talk..."
"If you can find her..."
The tiger hugged the human to him. "I'm sure she should be home by now."
“We have a sauna to have...and a full day of work..."
Lumar nodded enthusiastically. "I'm looking forward to this sauna--it will be relaxing."
"Yeah...as long as they don't get all bossy with me...”
"I want to thank you Schwenk...especially for changing your mind about...Crys...It would have broken my heart."
"I know...just please hear me out in the future..."
"Yes...brother...I will." The tiger placed his huge arm around Schwenk. "Shall we go get a sauna?"
"Promise me...you'll hear me out with no aggression!!"
"I promise I will do my utmost best not to be overly aggressive with you Schwenk." Lumar swore. "Will that do?"
"I guess it'll have to you big dope! Come on...let's sauna..."
Lumar picked Schwenk up and raced down the hallway towards the sauna where Lion-O waited.
"I'm...not...luggage..." he jogged up and down on Lumar.
"Yeah I know but isn't this fun?!" When they reached their destination, the tiger dropped Schwenk to the ground.
Lion-O smiled. "Well gentlemen, it is about time...Schwenk, undress and come inside with us...I think you will enjoy this!"
"Yeah...sweating with other males....bliss..."he said flatly.
"We'll be sharing the space with some of my lionesses as well...I hope you don't mind the sight of naked felines." The lion casually commented stepping inside.
"Lioness....meh....they're OK....on a par with lynxes..." he cheeked.
"You haven't seen these particular lionesses." He replied over his shoulder.
"Oh? Big, are they?"
"You'll see..." the lion said in a mysterious tone; Lumar and Schwenk entered the large room--the door was sealed behind them...It was quite difficult to see since the steam was so thick…
