Ben was up at 4 and heading to Gwen's at a walk carrying Ship when he arrived Gwen was waiting.
"You take Spanish right?" Gwen asked him.
"Yeah." Ben nodded. "At least that's what the teacher said. She also told me that I was very behind on my homework."
"I'll come with you today." Gwen said, frowning. "We'll get all of your work from classes and Kevin and I will help you with it."
"Okay, thanks." Ben said, and watched her mess with his phone. "What are you doing?"
"Getting you an app that will teach you Spanish. I use one to teach me French." Gwen informed. "It says the word then I say the word or phrase in Spanish then English. It works."
Ben shrugged and plugged his earbuds in and put them in his ears and his phone in his pocket. He set Ship down and they all began running. Ben did as Gwen said with learning Spanish as they ran two miles then turned around and ran back to Gwen's so four miles in all. Ben was winded but had new skills to do with Spanish. He and Ship walked with Gwen back to Ben's where Gwen introduced Ben to a healthy breakfast. She then went through his room and found the keys for the green and black car outside and drove them to Ben's school.
Ben was shocked about how behind he was with his school work. So far behind that they were thinking of holding him back. He and Gwen swore they would get him caught up by the end of the year. Then Ben went to class and Gwen took his car and drove herself to school.
Ben focused all day frowning hard over his work in every class. The only class he found easy was Calculus. He tore through that and leveled the skills he got for that up quickly. He also found out that he could get WIS points for completing Math problems.
Ben stood in the school yard keeping an eye on Ship and texting with Kevin and Gwen in a three way text after school. They agreed to meet up at Mr. Smoothie after school to start tutoring.
"Ship!" Ben called, and the small alien came running. He picked him up. "There you are. I told you not to leave my sight." Ship licked his daddies cheek. "Well, okay, but you need to be more careful." People were watching students and teachers a like. "Did you do your business at least." Ship confirmed that he'd gone to the bathroom. "Good. Gwen'll be here to pick us up soon."
Two minutes later Gwen pulled up and honked.
"Ben!" Julie came running toward him. "BEN!"
Ben got in his car and Gwen drove off.
"That girl is so annoying. " Ben sighed. "She's in all my classes and keeps passing me notes when I'm trying to focus on class. "
"I don't remember Julie being this clingy before." Gwen hummed.
"Your idea to learn Spanish came in handy today." Ben finally said, "But I need to learn to read Spanish as well. How did I get so behind?"
"That's what I'm wondering." Gwen sighed. "I'm curious why you didn't come to me and Kevin for help if you were falling behind because of work."
"I don't know." Ben said, softly.
"I'm sorry I know you don't." Gwen replied, quickly.
When they got to Mr. Smoothie Gwen was amused at how Ben was drawn to Kevin's side as if by a magnetic pull and he almost floated over to him. Kevin smiled down at him and they got drinks only to turn and find three Plumbers and their parents.
"Are you following me, old man?" Kevin demanded on Devin.
"Yes, but I have good reason." Devin answered truthfully. "Lets all sit down and talk this out. "
"No." Natalie stated putting the pamphlet down.
"Oh, wow, look at these language classes." Gwen said, "Oh, and Advanced Mana Control!"
"Look at all these shop classes." Kevin said in awe. "In this one we get to build our own ship!"
Ben silently looked over the classes and didn't say anything which worried everyone.
"Now please listen, Natalie." Max said, "This wont interfere with Gwen or Ben's schooling at all. You see we have Chronosapian that controls the time flow around the Moon Academy. The kids will get on the shuttle at Midnight and come to the Moon Academy where it will be midnight the day before. They will actually be reliving the day they already lived on Earth at the Academy then will return to Earth just an hour after they left. We have mandatory study halls so students can catch up on all their work both from Plumber school and their World Schools. "
Natalie persed her lips.
"As they are Guardians we think this would be the best course of action for them." Devin said. "We've already enrolled Kevin."
"Don't make my choices for me, old man!" Kevin snapped. "Look at this list of combat classes." he was pointing out the section he'd reached to Ben and Gwen. "Weapons and power classes."
"These magic classes sound incredible too bad we have to start with 101 classes." Gwen sighed.
"Yeah, bummer." Kevin agreed.
Again Ben was silent as if he had nothing to say on the subject.
"Ben, are you interested in any classes?" Sandra wondered.
"I ....... don't know what classes I would like." Ben answered. "Can I just take what Kevin and Gwen are taking?"
"We're going to have to compromise if we're doing that." Kevin said,
"Then let negotiations begin." Gwen said. "I want Languages 101."
"I can see the use of that." Kevin nodded writing it down on the tablet in front of him. "Agreed. " Ben and Gwen nodded. "I want Ship Shop Class 101."
and so it continued it seemed easy to choose classes at first but as space in the schedule ran out Gwen and Kevin seemed to have problems agreeing on anything.
"Ugh, this is normally where you would come in." Gwen informed Ben.
"I already finished." Ben said blinking at them. "I listened to your arguments and made my choices based on that. "
Both looked at what he'd chosen and both actually agreed except on one thing.
"What's with this Math class?" Kevin asked.
"Yeah, Ben, I mean it'll sure come in handy but....." Gwen trailed off.
"I seem to be good at Math. I'm Calculus in school and I appear to be getting an A in that class. I chose the Science class for the same reason." Ben said, blushing.
"You're in Calculus?" Gwen asked. "I didn't know that. I thought I was talking to an Algebra teacher."
"No, Calculus. My teacher wants to send me to a different school to start learning Linear Algebra." Ben shrugged.
"That'd be my school it's the advanced school." Gwen informed. "That's great, Ben! I'm proud of you."
So were Sandra, Frank, Carl, and Natalie and they all said so.
Kevin actually felt rather left out since he wasn't actually going to school. Maybe he should look into testing into Ben's school. He'd have to think about it.
